Work Text:
I didn’t want this. I really didn’t. You have to leave.
Right now.
That’s the first thing they said to you
You felt a cold hand reach through a barrier to grab you. It ripped you from the warm wet cover you had, into the cool night air. You were small, so small. Not even the size of a teenager's palm. You could see a red tinted glow on someone's hand. You looked at this person. You recalled their name.”KRIS”
You hit the wall, but you felt no pain. You, again, gazed at this person. The most noticeable thing about them was their bright green sweater with a thick yellow stripe going the width of their torso. Thick brown hair covered their eyes, keeping you from seeing where they were looking. But you could feel their vengeful stare sinking into you.
You didn’t move. They walked to the middle of their carpet and pulled a knife out of seemingly thin air. They looked back at you, the real you. The one watching through the screen.
They jump at you.
You smirk. You know they can’t hurt you. You're the puppet master, and they are the puppet. It's that simple. They just obey your commands, and maybe you’ll let them keep this lovely world full of friends you’ve graciously given them. If not, well
You’ll just delete it, create a brand new copy to use.
And go out of your way to make their life a living hell.
After all, it's what you’ve been doing this entire time, isn’t it?
Forcing them to talk to people.
Get along with them.
Get others to trust them.
Hurt them.
Force Kris to ruin others lives.
It’s just what you do.
You can’t avoid it, so why not embrace it. Ruin others' lives for your entertainment.
But of course, you need to wait for KRIS to go to sleep in order for you to regain control of them. You need their SOUL inside of them for your control to persist.
You stay up, watching KRIS do miscellaneous tasks, the meager thing they can manage without their SOUL. They read their brother's books, go through his CDs, and sit in the computer chair, looking through the files. You watch them get up, and your screen follows them as they take their knife and slice through the pie their mother made before going to bed. They take a thin slice out onto a plate, and then they pick up the pie tin that contains the majority of the pie. They wolf it down as if they hadn’t eaten in weeks, which isn’t true. You made them eat, if only to keep control over them.
After all, a corpse couldn’t be used as your puppet.
In their now sleepy haze, they forget their knife in the pin tin. They slowly walk up the steps, their head down and their eyes presumably drooping. They walk the distance through the hallway, gazing up at the bookshelf. They look through the books on the shelves, obviously not paying much attention to them. You’ve forced them to read these books and their titles over and over again, so much they might as well have memorized them.
They finally slip into their bed, giving their SOUL one last menacing glare before passing out, their head practically falling off the bed.
The next day, TORIEL, KRIS’s mother, wakes them up whilst shaking her head.
“KRIS, did you eat all of the pie!” She tries to keep a straight face. She ended up failing though. “You even left your knife in the dish.” she starts laughing.
She leaves, only giving KRIS a warning. You make Kris get up. Read things, listen to the commentary. After all, you only want entertainment. Might as well get it, even if the SOUL’s host isn’t too happy about it. You follow TORIEL outside. You force KRIS to wave to all the friends you made them yesterday. TORIEL holds KRIS’s hand all the way up the steps. You cringe. KRIS is such a toddler. Who needs their mom to hold their hand at that age anyways.
You walk into class, and sit at KRIS’s desk, or at least the only one left. SUSIE is behind you, and as KRIS’s best friend, she makes it her personal goal to mess with you the whole day. You laugh at her antics. SUSIE is funny, and even if KRIS disagrees you will make sure they stay friends. SUSIE is useful after all. And very entertaining.
KRIS ends up falling asleep within the first thirty minutes of class. You can’t wake them up, and no one else bothers. Just goes to show how grateful KRIS should be for you. If they would just obey you, you could make their life even better than you already have.
SUSIE ends up waking you after school. You slept through the whole day.
“Hey, KRIS,” she yells, “let's go back today! Maybe it's still there!”
