Chapter Text
It was a sweltering, summer day in Kaede’s village. It was so hot it felt as if there was a huge layer of heat trying to suffocate you and slowly burn your skin off. No one was outside working on their farms or selling their wares. It was practically a ghost village. Everyone fled to the river in a desperate attempt to cool off. Even though the summer air was so oppressive the birds continued chirping and the cicadas buzzed on as normal.
Kagome was walking home after another long, boring training session. Kaede was notorious for being a strict and meticulous teacher. You would think it would be okay to miss one day of training, but nope. The old woman drilled into her this morning going on and on about how training never stops for those who walk the spiritual path. Every day there is something new to learn and a priestess must be vigilant and do their duties accordingly. Blah, blah, blah. It was like attending her super boring math classes back at school. Now, don’t be mistaken, Kagome adored Kaede as if she was her own grandmother. And usually, she is eager to learn from her on how to be a good priestess, but, sometimes she can be way too harsh. Would taking one day off be so bad?
This time around, Kaede took her out to a clearing deep within the forest to teach her about poisonous herbs and how to create antidotes from them. It was eight, grueling hours of being under the hot, merciless sun while trying to concentrate on Kaede’s droning lecture. Kagome will admit, in those types of conditions much of the information went in one ear and out the other. And because there was no sunblock in this era, Kagome was pretty sure she will feel the painful and irritating effects of sunburn tomorrow. Good thing she stocked up on witch hazel, lavender, and chamomile the other day. She also remembered that she had a small bundle of aloe from when InuYasha went to the market the other day with Miroku. Those ingredients would make a good after care paste and prevent itching. Kagome let out another groan of discomfort as she felt sweat drip down the sides of her temples. In a futile attempt, she tries wiping it away so it won’t drip into her eyes. She tugs on the front of her haori trying to get cool air to circulate through, but, the relief was only temporary.
“I can’t wait to ask InuYasha to take me to a river. Maybe we can go to the one that’s closer to the Goshinboku. We can finally spend some alone time together and take a nice cool swim. Keee that would be amazing!” Kagome giggled in excitement and with a new spring in her step eagerly rushed home to see her husband.
As Kagome walked up the winding path that led to her and InuYasha’s shared home, she could see the back of his head come into view. She raised her hand to the side of her mouth to call out to him in greeting before stopping in her tracks. As she came closer, what she saw nearly knocked her off her feet and drool forming in her mouth.
There in front of her, working hard under the bright morning sun was her husband…SHIRTLESS!
“EEEK!” Kagome clapped both her hands over her mouth stifling her squeal.
InuYasha was currently busy tilling the soil in their garden with a hoe. With every upward swing sinewy muscles moved and flexed along his broad back. InuYasha was never really a bulky man but he had muscles where it mattered. And seeing it on display in all its glory made Kagome hotter. Enjoying the show, Kagome licked her lips sensually as she watched sweat drip down his back, to the dimples at the base of his spine before disappearing beneath his pants. Her eyes were drawn to Kagome’s personal favorite view, his butt. She must say, her husband has the finest ass in all the land, and it was all hers.
Seeing her gorgeous husband in front of her, Kagome suddenly remembers a video Yuka had shown her on her phone a long time ago. If she recalled, it was bunch of videos of girls teasing their boyfriends and husbands by whispering “daddy” in their ears and watching their reactions. It was pretty hilarious. While InuYasha and Kagome refused to give pet names to each other, she still wanted to try this prank out on him and see how he reacts.
With a mischievous grin, Kagome carefully walks up to her husband.
“Hey InuYasha what are you doing out here? It’s really hot out.” Kagome casually calls out.
Without turning around InuYasha continues hacking at the soil grunting with effort.
“I’m preparing to plant the seeds we got at the market and from the vegetables Miroku and Sango graves us a while back.” While InuYasha raises the hoe above his head one more time, Kagome took this opportunity to pounce on her unsuspecting husband. She wraps her arms around him from behind not minding the sweat at all. She slowly trails a hand down his chest to his stomach while using her fingernails gently to scratch this his happy trail at his navel. She gets up on her tiptoes and leans toward his left ear.
“I love you so much my husband. You’re so good to me. Always there to provide for me and take care of me. I’m so lucky to be your wife.” Kagome moans softly at the word “wife” before she quickly turns around and runs back to the village giggling loudly.
From the corner of her eyes, she sees her husband was frozen stiff, but not for long.
As Kagome, speeds towards the village, she comes upon Miroku and Sango taking their children out on a walk, most likely to the river.
“Kagome!”
“Kagome-Chan!”
“Kagome-oba!” The entire family shouted in greeting. Before they could say anything else Kagome interrupts them panting.
“Hi! Help!” Kagome giggles again trying to catch her breath. “If InuYasha asks, you never saw me, talked to me, nothing. I need to hide!” Kagome looks around frantically.
“What’s wrong?” The parents looked on in concern. Before she could explain, a red, clothed figure flashes in front of Kagome his back turned to Sango and Miroku.
“Oh no.” Sango and Miroku could see Kagome’s eyes widen and back up a slight step.
“InuYasha what’s…” Next thing they knew, InuYasha throws Kagome over his shoulder and jumps away leaving the two in the dust.
“What was that about?” The family looked at each other and shrugged before continuing their walk. `
