Chapter Text
Lupercal16 created Great Crusade Group Chat
Lupercal16 has added Johnson01, Fulgrim03 and 15 others to the chat
Lupercal16: Gentlemen
Corax19: Oh, is this what you were talking about?
Alpharius20: I believe it is
Johnson01: What is this?
Lupercal16: This, Brothers, is a means for us to remain in contact with each other wherever the Great Crusade might take us
Lupercal16: This way, we need never truly be separated
Vulkan18: This is a means to send messages instantly across the empyrean?
Russ06: I wouldn’t have thought such a feat was possible.
Manus10: Our comrades in the Adeptus Mechanicus recently uncovered several STC fragments pertaining to the humble dataslate
Manus10: We will now be able to contact each other in a manner previously limited to the greatest of astropaths
Russ06: And how many of them died to do it?
Manus10: They don’t tell me everything, you know.
Johnson01: Groxshit
Curze08: You’re their boy
Russ06: Or perhaps their thrall
Manus10: Alright, fine.
Manus10: 3 and a half battalions of Skitarii
Manus10: I think they also had air support from the regular army, but most of that lot made it out alright
Angron12: What the fuck is a Skitarii
Johnson01: That’s their pet army
Fulgrim03: You know, with those fetching long coats.
Vulkan18: Being what you might call a connoisseur of scorched earth tactics, I enjoy working with them.
Mortarion14: Amateurs the lot of em
Dorn07: Horus, is this clamouring what you intended?
Lupercal16: Intended, no
Lupercal16: Expected, yes
Khan05 has changed his name to White Lightning
Angron12: Wait, we can do that?
White Lightning: Apparently so.
Angron12: Sick
Angron12 has changed his name to Mean Machine
Lion01: I can’t say it doesn’t fit.
Lion01 has changed his name to Knight of Caliban
Sanguinius9 has changed his name to Sanguinine
Perturabo04: That’s not a bloody word
Sanguinine: On the contrary, it’s a very bloody word
Perturabo04: You know what I fucking meant
Dorn07 has changed his name to Immovable Object
Immovable Object: Come, Perturabo.
Immovable Object: You know what you wish to do
Perturabo04: Go dig for pyrite
Perturabo04 has changed his name to Iron Withal
Magnus15 has changed his name to Monocle
Corax19 has changed his name to The Invisible Man
Curze08 has changed his name to Justice
Monocle: Don’t you already have a nickname?
Justice: I might ask the same of you, mister The Read
Monocle: That’s The Red to you, brother
Justice: Look in my defence I didn’t know how to read until about 5 years ago
Monocle: Father found you 6 years ago
Justice: Precisely
Russ06 has changed his name to Wolfbrother
Wolfbrother: Of course, Magnus the Read would also be a fitting kenning
Monocle: Sometimes I swear it’s like you don’t actually speak Gothic
Manus10 has changed his name to Handyman
Aurelian17: I suppose it’s important to stick to one’s theme
Wolfbrother: Indeed it is
Aurelian17 has changed his name to Logos
Mean Machine: Your legion always struck me as having a funny name.
Mean Machine: What word do you bear?
Logos: Truth
Justice: While we’re at it, Angron, your legion’s heraldry always struck me as odd
Justice: What world are you devouring?
Mean Machine: Yours
Justice: Then you’re bloody welcome to it
Vulkan18 has changed his name to BBQ
Fulgrim03: I didn’t know you had an interest in the culinary arts
BBQ: Say rather that I have an interest in the conflagratory arts
Fulgrim03: Ah, how foolish of me
Fulgrim03 has changed his name to Jean Grey
Logos: Who’s he?
Jean Grey: She, actually
Jean Grey: A heroine of ancient Terra, also known as “The Phoenix”
Mortarion14: Of course
Jean Grey: Records are fragmentary at best, but it is known that she had a hand in defeating a “brotherhood of evil mutants”
Mortarion14: Can’t be all bad, then
Alpharius20 has changed his name to Ibid
Jean Grey: I like it
Sanguinine: Yes, very appropriate
Handyman: I’m not sure I get it.
Wolfbrother: I recognise the name, but…
Ibid: Ibid was a polymath of ancient Terra. None of their works survive, but they are cited by many of the greats
Monocle: So many ancient works of culture have been lost to time
Monocle: A true tragedy
Mortarion14: When I hear the word culture, I reach for my bolt pistol.
Mortarion14: Although I have to admit I’m starting to stand out, with my original name here
Logos: We could come up with a new name for you, if you like
Mortarion14: I really don’t care.
Mortarion14: One of you nerds name me after a playwright or a painter or something classy like that
Jean Grey has changed Mortarion14 to ODB
ODB: And who the fuck is ODB?
Jean Grey: He was a poet. Part of a collective of artists from ancient Merik.
ODB: Yeah, that’ll do
Lupercal16 has changed his name to Generalissimo
Monocle: Ah yes, from the old Terran name for a Warmaster
Generalissimo: Just so.
Generalissimo: Though there are a few different Terran terms that would be equivalent
The Invisible Man: Fuhrer, for instance.
Generalissimo: Now I’m not sure about that
Generalissimo: Fuhrer has always implied a political aspect as well as a military one, and I really have no head for politics
Generalissimo: Though it would be a valid title for Guilliman, what with his management of Ultramar
Logos: Micromanagement, some might say
Monocle: How about it, Roboute? Care for a new title?
Guilliman13: I have quite enough of those already, thank you.
Monocle: Brother Roboute, you make yourself conspicuous by your lack of nickname
Guilliman13: I’d prefer to keep this, thanks.
Guilliman13: Lucky Number 13.
