Work Text:

“Toshi?”

Hitoshi jumps three feet in the air at the sound of his husband’s voice, nearly falling out of the barstool he’s seated on. He braces himself on the edge of the kitchen counter, breathing heavily. That flinch felt horrible on his already sore limbs.

“Sorry!” Izuku squeaks, quickly rushing over to help him stand upright. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”

“It’s fine.” Hitoshi huffs, smiling despite the aching in his limbs. “What are you doing out of bed?”

“I was going to ask you the same,” Izuku answers, running a hand up and down the taller’s back. Hitoshi sighs at the gentle, easing touch. “I woke up and thought you went to the bathroom, or something, but then you didn’t come back…”

“Sorry,” Hitoshi responds. “Just wanted to get some water.”

“You were half-asleep, Tosh.” Hitoshi feels a drop of sweat trail down his forehead.

“...Fair,” He chuckles nervously, running a hand through his messy hair. “I’ll come back now.”

Izuku shakes his head with a fond smile, closely sticking by Hitoshi’s side as he slips down from his seat. His hand never leaves the purple-haired man’s back as they make their way out of the dimly lit kitchen and into the hall.

“Sore?” Izuku asks softly.

“Yeah,” Hitoshi sighs back as he leads the greenette back into their shared bedroom. “I think I might have pushed myself a bit too hard yesterday…”

“A bit? Sweetie, you came home looking like you were about to pass out,” Izuku gently chides as Hitoshi kicks off his house slippers by the bed. “You told me you were just tired.”

“I mean, as it stands, it wasn't entirely a lie,” The other snorts, plopping down onto the mattress. Izuku rolls his eyes with no real heat and follows suit.

“You’re taking the day off today.”

“Wh- that’s not necessary,” Hitoshi argues.

He’s not able to say much else as Izuku grips his shoulder, causing the taller to let out a choked noise of pain at the sudden pressure to his abused body. “Not necessary, huh?”

“Okay, okay,” He laughs nervously, rubbing the shoulder that received the treatment. “I’ll stay home today.”

“I’m staying home to make sure you don’t try anything, mister.”

“I’m starting to think you don’t have any trust in me.”

“I trust you, hun.” Izuku leans forward to press a quick kiss to his husband’s cheek. “Just not when your own health is involved.”

“You’re one to talk.” Despite his response, Hitoshi knows his ears have gone pink. “All you did in highschool was push and push.”

Izuku only shushes him. “Go to sleep, you dork.”

Hitoshi chuckles, and obeys with a roll of his eyes. Izuku quickly saddles up next to him.

Obviously, Hitoshi wastes no time and turns to wrap his arms around his smaller partner. The exasperated sigh Izuku releases only makes him smirk into the fabric of Izuku’s night shirt. The greenette pushes himself to slide up just a bit, so Hitoshi’s head is level with his chest. He wraps his arms around Hitoshi’s neck.

Hitoshi sighs contentedly, letting the calming rhythm of Izuku’s heart beat lull him through comfort.

“‘Night,” he murmurs.

“Good night, Toshi.”

Hitoshi is abruptly woken by a tiny body pouncing onto his stomach.

He lets out a wheeze, eyes shooting open. A tiny giggle reaches his ears when he turns over to groan and clutch his abdomen. Light peeks in through curtains over the window of the bedroom, thankfully not in his eyes, letting him know it’s no longer night.

He turns back over to meet the eyes of his daughter, currently hiding little laughs behind a hand. Despite the pain she just caused him (most likely) unintentionally, he holds out an arm to her.

“Morning,” he chuckles as she squirms up to wrap herself in the limb.

“Good morning!” She chirps, pecking a kiss to Hitoshi’s nose. “Papa’s in the shower, he told me to wake you up.”

That bastard. He knew she would do this.

Hitoshi chuckles with a smile. “Oh, yeah?”

“Mhm! He says you have to stay in bed today too,” The girl nods. Of course he did, Hitoshi thinks.

“Is that your job?” He asks.

“Yeah! So no moving, daddy, okay?” She responds in such a serious manner that Hitoshi can’t help but laugh. That expression does not fit her face.

“Okay, princess.”

“Good,” She hums, snuggling up to her father. Hitoshi runs a hand through her hair, feeling a softness in his chest that he’ll never get used to, but knows he’ll never want it gone.

“Cute.” Izuku comments from the doorway, drying his green hair with a towel. He’s wearing one of his dumb T-shirts with some sweats, Hitoshi rolls his eyes uponr reading the “shoes” printed across his chest in kanji.

“You are mean ,” Hitoshi complains with no heat as the short male makes his way over to the bedside.

“You love me,” Izuku smiles. Hitoshi just sticks his tongue out at him, not denying his words, but accepts the kiss that’s offered to him when the greenette leans down.

“Ewww!” Their daughter whines, causing them to separate.

“Oh, hush, you,” Hitoshi snickers, flicking her forehead with no real force. She blows a raspberry as Izuku climbs into bed on the opposite side of her, bringing an arm up to wrap around the both of them. Hitoshi feels strangely secure whenever Izuku cages them in hugs like this.

“You remember what we need to do today?” Izuku asks her.

“Yep! Keep daddy in bed, but if he has to go pee, we need to stand outside the door to make sure he doesn’t try and run away!”

Hitoshi blinks.

“You told her that?!” He gawks at his husband.

“I might have said something about the multiple times you’ve tried to jump out the window in highschool.”

“When did you even have the time to tell her about that? More importantly, why did you tell her at all?!”

Their daughter continues to giggle and snort as the two older males bicker lovingly.

With Izuku’s arm over him, and their daughter snuggled up between them, in the comfort of their own home, Hitoshi feels more relaxed than he’s ever felt in his entire life.

Notes:

This could be connected to Day 2's oneshot, if you want it to be, as Hitoshi mentions that he and Izuku want to adopt a girl once they're adults
I left the daughter vague on purpose, feel free to fill in the details :)

Tomorrow is a free day, and I already know what I want to do B)
