A love so strong

Summary:

If love could be measured in a cup, Naruto and Sasuke would say the one they share together has already overflown, and from this point forward there's only one way to go...

Or: Naruto and Sasuke are having a baby.

Notes:

I genuinely don't remember when or WHY I wrote this, though I have the faintest memory that this atrocity stems from one of the many cursed conversations I've had with Luna throughout our friendship, so ig here's our take about them being sasunaru's lovechild and how mpreg delivering would go: basically pissing that baby off.

Full disclosure: I'm not, in ANY way, proud of this work but you know this is dedicated to you Luna :3 hope you enjoy reading this AGAIN and fuck you for bringing this monster back into my life and giving me another trauma that I will forever be too ashamed to discuss in therapy.

Work Text:

5 weeks

“I’m going to be a father!” Naruto leaned out of the window, screaming at the top of his lungs and scaring a couple birds in the process. “A dad! I’m gonna be a dad! ”

Sasuke muffled his laughter behind his hands, leaning back in the bed with a happy smile. Pride and happiness blossomed inside his chest as he caressed his still flat belly. He’s pregnant. He’s  carrying Naruto’s child, their child, and nothing could feel more wholesome at that moment.

He felt another hand sneaking over his, and then a mop of blonde hair tickling his cheeks as  Naruto snuggled into him. “We are going to be fathers!”

“We will” Sasuke managed to croak out with a closed throat, trying his hardest not to cry in that  hospital bed. “I’m so happy… our little family”

Naruto kissed his forehead tenderly, fat tears streaming down his face. “Our family…”

Sasuke’s belly seemed to grow more with each passing day, a big lump already evident. Naruto couldn’t be more radiant, telling everyone with ears that he was going to be a father, caressing his husband’s belly every chance he got and being extra caring and thoughtful of  Sasuke.

They bantered a couple times over how they should decorate their baby’s bedroom, Naruto insisting it should be covered with plushies from floor to ceiling, all blue and ninja themed, meanwhile Sasuke begged to differ, insisting that they didn’t even know the baby’s gender yet, so they shouldn’t hurry into that.

It’s been nearly six months into that pregnancy and Sasuke still found it hard to believe that this all was actually real, that he carried life inside him and soon, his happy little family with Naruto would grow; they would have a tiny ball of happiness that looks much like them running around  the house, bringing life to every corner.

“Hey” Naruto whispered into his ear from behind, hands gently cradling his belly. “Looking chubby, pretty thing.”

“You’re so sweet.” Sasuke retorted with a sour face, taking his husband’s hands away from him. “Didn’t you agree to meet up with Kakashi today? What are you still doing here?”

Naruto looked at him intensely, a sly grin playing on his lips. “You really want me to go meet another man?”

“I mean…” his husband laughed loudly, pulling Sasuke closer, careful not to bump against his pregnant belly too hard.

He started nosing at the crevice of his neck, peppering kisses and love bites all around; Sasuke couldn’t help but preen at the attention, holding Naruto closer and chasing his lips for a quick  kiss, chaste and soft.

“I canceled on him.” Naruto said, pecking his lips once again. “Suddenly I felt like staying home and taking care of you."

“So thoughtful…” They kiss again, this time more intensely, Naruto licking into Sasuke’s mouth with earnestness whilst pulling his body closer, or as close as the baby between them allowed. The blonde’s hand trailed down from his husband’s neck to his belly, caressing it with fondness.

“I am a thoughtful husband.” Naruto smiled impossibly wide, resting his forehead against  Sasuke’s. “And a proud dad.”

Suddenly, Sasuke felt that same weird feeling, like something warm blossoming inside him, brewing in the pit of his stomach; something he became very familiar with since meeting Naruto. Happiness, raw and honest, warm and cozy, with a touch of something he couldn’t describe as anything but love.

Sasuke felt weak – weak and nauseous, his legs barely couldn’t hold him straight anymore. Yet, he never felt happier than right now. The clock ticked slowly beside him, nearly striking three in the morning and he laid there, wide-awake, listening to his husband’s light snores.

He couldn’t sleep, in fact, he couldn’t find a good position to lay in bed at all, tossing and turning the whole night for nothing. Beside him, Naruto didn’t budge once, dead asleep, and maybe Sasuke preferred it that way; sometimes his husband could be too much for him.

Tossing on bed one last time, he finally felt done with that bullshit and snapped, getting out of the bed in a second. He slipped into his shoes and got out of there, dragging his feets across the hallway in the general direction of a smaller bedroom, filled with all the cutest little things he and  Naruto could find, warm beige walls and glow-in-the-dark stars plastered in the ceiling.

He felt at ease walking into that room, his happy place on earth. Every little detail of that room  warmed his heart, the light wooden crib with ninja bears patterns on the sheets, all the children’s books they bought because they couldn’t hold themselves, the pale yellow chair right  beside them. Every detail made him think of better, brighter days to come, with a little baby, sitting inside that crib and listening to him telling stories about ducks and other animals while  Naruto plays with their baby’s hair.

Sitting down on that chair while looking at the crib, Sasuke could feel all the restlessness leaving his bones, comforted with cushions of the chair and the smell of home inside that room. He laid back, looking over at the crib, slowly lulling himself to sleep with thoughts and wishes for the  future.

Breathe! Breathe!” Naruto urged, holding Sasuke’s hand tighter and smoothing his hair. “You’re doing so well! Just a little more, baby!”

Sasuke yelled at the top of his lungs, laboring his breath to match with his efforts to push the baby out; he could faintly hear Naruto talking sweet encouragement into his ears and the doctor  telling him to keep going, but it hurted so much, and not the good way.

Everyone told him things would be dreamy, that giving birth would be the biggest pain he could ever go through, but also the most pleasing, fulfilling one; but they were so wrong, it felt horrible, a roaring pain leaping through his veins and every muscle. His dick ached, burned like  it was on fire and Sasuke felt the most scared in his life to look down and see what it looked like  with a baby coming out of it.

He watched from the corner of his eyes Naruto looking down, a big smile stretching on his face and his eyes sparkling, he turned around and kept encouraging Sasuke with twice more fervor. Sasuke felt like toppling over, leaning on that medical bed and passing out, but then the doctor  told him to push just a little more and he felt his heart nearly bursting out of his ribcage; this is it. This is the moment the most beautiful thing he and Naruto ever did together came to the  world and he still can’t believe this is true.

Pure relief started building inside him when he felt his baby finally coming out.

The first cry set the whole room into a dead silence, but the crying was loud and deafening, somehow the most beautiful sound Sasuke’s ever heard and probably forever his favorite one in life. His baby was well and alive, and very much screaming while the nurses tried to dry some of the placenta out of his tiny little body.

“It’s here…” Were the first words Naruto managed between tears, stunned and in pure awe. One of the nurses handled him the bundle of sheets and Naruto busted in a full cry, his face  impossibly red but also impossibly happy; he dipped down, closer to Sasuke and pushed the covers away, revealing one tiny, chubby head with round eyes looking deep inside Sasuke’s, sparkly and much like Naruto’s. “Our baby is here, Sasuke…”

Then, he found himself crying too, hard and full of sobs, the happiest tears he’s ever shed. “Naruto… our Luna is here.”

Month 1

The room feels warm with the orange light they bought last minute, and everything feels much like a dream to Sasuke, a very lucid dream.

Naruto is in front of him, leaning on the crib and reading the three little pigs to their Luna, who stared at him intently, seemingly more interested in his father’s long, blonde hair than in the actual story Naruto seemed to be so immersed in.

Sasuke, instead, found himself thoughtful, looking at his husband and playing with his baby’s little foot. He wonders what he ever did to deserve all of that, a loving husband and a beautiful, chubby baby, their warm house and a heart so full.

He watched as Naruto stopped reading, indulging in the little one’s grabbing hands, playing with their tiny little fingers. He then turned to look at his husband, smiling that stupid, cute smile of his and in that exact moment Sasuke knew, he just knew he had found true happiness for life.
