Tied Imbalances

Summary:

"Two figures, walking side-by-side, fingers tied. They casted no shadow- perhaps they were the light themselves. One figure, blazing with heat- its body flaring with fire and light. Another figure, shimmering with frosty ice- but something wasn't right."

im going to be honest i dont know how to summarize this its so late right now i made this in like an hour this is just me turning the yin and yang inside of chongyun into people or something and then describing their relationship that is literally it i dont know what to tell you

Notes:

heyy so uhh quick note since this is about yin and yang which is a subject im not too educated on, so i mightve got some representation wrong. hopefully if i have it isnt too bad but if you find anything that is represented wrong or incorrectly feel free to let me know!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Two figures, walking side-by-side, fingers tied. They casted no shadow- perhaps they were the light themselves. One figure, blazing with heat- its body flaring with fire and light. Another figure, shimmering with frosty ice- but something wasn't right.

The two figures walked down the streets of Liyue, the sun beaming down. Ice melted into water, the figure of frost dripping with the softened ice- it was okay though. It wasn't in any danger, they weren't in danger. The figure of frost whipped out a popsicle, sharing half of it with the figure of fire.

Steam rapidly flew out of the figure of fire, the ice from the popsicle cooling much of the flames. The figure of frost regained its icy composure and the two continued their stroll.

Chongyun trekked down the streets of Liyue, the sun's rays seemed stronger today. He could feel the warmth trickling into his skin and amplifying the burning fire that raged far too large inside of him. It was okay though, the sun was never a problem for Chongyun. He whipped out a popsicle and crunched on the cool snack as he continued on his way to train.

--------------------------------------------------------

The figure of frost was melting- its form dissolving onto the ground. The figure of fire lit brighter than ever, energy racing through the body set ablaze. The figure of frost could do nothing- only melt even more as the heat grew hotter still. The figure of fire laughed. It laughed and laughed as its mind buzzed with the overflow of energy. Any and all rational thought was discarded as long as the figure of fire could lead and control every action.

Excitement glittering and sparking off of the heated body, the figure of fire dragged along the puddle of water that was the once figure of frost and let its heart's desires decide what to do.

Energy dissipated and the flames were dying out -they were losing a leader. Fingers tied, the figure of frost and figure of flames crumbled to the ground, allowing themselves to regain their energy and sustain their bodies once more.

Chongyun couldn't think- only act. Jueyun chilis running through his veins, the fire in his chest exploded, the heat spreading through his entire body. He chatted and laughed, irrationality filling every part in his brain- his brain wasn't in control anymore- only his heart. Heat radiated through his entire figure... where had his usual cold front gone? Perhaps it had melted away? There was no time to think as Chongyun ran from place to place, sitting on other people's tables in Wanmin restaurant and conversing excitedly.

Chongyun started to feel sleepy, his eyes drooping- maybe this was where his icy demeanor would return. Instead, Chongyun collapsed onto the ground. Xiangling and Xingqiu ran up to see if he was okay. No one was in control anymore, and it was time to wait until there was.

--------------------------------------------------------

The pitter patter of their feet as the figure of frost melted once more- it wasn't fair. Always the weaker one- always the smaller one- always the more vulnerable one- the figure of flames wasn't to blame... were they? It was the circumstances they were forced into, and that was that. It didn't make either of the figures feel any better though. The glow and heat radiating off of the figure of fire's body scared them off- it scared the evil spirits off. The disappointment crushing down both of the figures at the blatant failure.

The figure of frost was done. Pitter patter turned to soft crunching, sizzling steam rising into the air. The figures were now running through snow, the sun swallowed out by the ominously dark clouds. Snowflakes fluttered around them, softly landing on the snow to steadily fill up the one pair of footprints that were found trailing behind the two figures.

Water softly rippled in the river, the river that circled around a huge mountain of ice- known for being merciless in its piercing glacial temperatures. A perfect punishment for the figure of fire's existence. It wasn't fair for the figure of fire to be punished for an uncontrollable circumstance, but it wasn't fair that the figure of ice had to struggle through all of its existence, devoid of any harmony, just because of said uncontrollable circumstance.

The figure of ice splashed into the water, forcing the figure of fire to join in. The sound of the hiss of the steam amplified, the figure of fire evaporating then and there, leaving the figure of frost to its lonesome. The energy within the figure of fire had been transferred over to the figure of ice as the sizzling body faded into the frigid waters.

The figure of ice had never felt so powerful, so full of this energy. It was different- the figure of fire couldn't take any sort of control anymore... it was free. The figure of ice of free...

but it still wasn't balanced.

Chongyun ran, anger welling up his throat, tears stinging his eyes. He was going to end this. He wasn't going to let his overabundance of yang energy control his life anymore. He was going to be normal-

(but is the complete imbalance of internal yin and yang really normal...?)

-normal like everyone else. Snowflakes whipped his face as he sprinted through the snowy mountain that was Dragonspine. A lake stretched all around the mountain, its temperatures reaching way below many would be able to handle. Perfect.

Chongyun hopped into the water, the sharp sting of the icy water splashing onto his skin and drenching his clothes. He took deep breaths, closing his eyes and zoning in on the area around him, desperately in search for an evil spirit he could finally exorcise with his own two hands. Energy flowed unevenly within his body as Chongyun meditated in the river water.

At some point, Chongyun snapped his eyes open as he saw a dark silhouette in the corner of his eyes, immediately bounding away from where Chongyun was. His heart filled with excitement, having seen his first evil spirit in Dragonspine only meant one thing; his yang energy was an obstacle for him to get past in order to achieve his dreams.

Despite this illusion of a victory, the energy inside him remained unbalanced.

--------------------------------------------------------

Two figures, walking side-by-side, fingers tied. They casted no shadow- after all, they held no physical form. One figure, blazing with heat- its body flaring with fire and light. Another figure, shimmering with frosty ice- but something wasn't right.

Chongyun looked up, his eyes glittering from the light of the moon. The moon was so much smaller than the sun... yet the two managed to find an equilibrium. Maybe one day, Chongyun will be able to find that equilibrium too.
