The Church had been beautifully decorated with pale flowers and white fabric. Eddie was glad they managed to repair the damage done after their fight with Carnage. He really didn’t want to be on the receiving end of Anne’s wrath when she’d learn her venue was unusable due to a Venom shaped hole in the wall. Thankfully it hadn’t come to that.
The wedding day arrived with the usual fanfare. Excited family and friends filling the church dressed in their best, the videographer capturing footage while they waited for the bride, a nervous Dan standing at the alter with his best man. He had offered Eddie to be one of his Groomsmen but Eddie had refused not wanting to take any attention away from him and Anne. He sat at the back so as not to cause a disturbance. Being the ex boyfriend of the bride would cause gossip and stares no matter how good of terms they were on. There were a few empty rows separating him from the other guests so his conversations with Venom couldn’t be overheard.
You are happy for her.
“Of course I am. Dan makes her happy so I’m happy” Eddie responded quietly
Venom was quiet for a moment before speaking again. Do I make you happy?
Eddie smiled shyly “Yeah you do Vee. It’s taken some adjusting but yeah, you do”
Good. You make me happy too.
Warmth filled his chest making Eddie smile more. The relationship he and Venom had took a long time to get used to but Eddie could honestly say that he wouldn’t trade it for anything. The battle with Carnage and his host Cletus made clear to Eddie how important Venom had become to him. They had become separated for three horrible days and Eddie had felt nothing but emptiness with the loss. When they finally re-joined it was like finding a missing piece of himself.
Eddie... Venom purred. I like this feeling Eddie...
The wedding march began and the guests stood to their feet. Eddie stood as well in his pitch black suit and tie. Anne made her entrance on the arm of her father looking absolutely beautiful. Eddie still loved Anne but in the way someone loved a dear friend. He was truly happy for her.
She took Dan’s hand at the alter both glowing with joy. The Priest gestured for them all to take their seats and began the ceremony. “Dearly beloved...”
Eddie I... We want this Eddie. Want this for us.
What do you mean? Eddie thought through their connection.
We want to be bonded like them Eddie. Like marriage. Want to marry Eddie. Eddie softly gasped. He glanced down to his left hand seeing Venom taking the form of another hand to hold his. Eddie. Wanted to tell you after Carnage... We... We love Eddie.
Eddie’s heart began to race hearing that. Vee... He was at a loss on what to say. Venom had just said they loved Eddie and wanted to marry him. A few weeks ago Venom didn’t even understand the concept of marriage and yet here they were practically proposing. Eddie blinked back tears allowing Venom to feel every emotion through their bond. Yes. He responded. Yes Vee. I want that too.
“Do you Anne Weying take Daniel Lewis to be your lawfully wedded Husband? For better or worse, for richer or poorer, till death do you part?”
I take you Eddie. Venom whispered wrapping itself around Eddie’s racing heart protectively. This was his vow. To always keep Eddie safe. To always heal and care for the rest of time. You are mine. We are yours.
“I do” Anne vowed
“And do you Daniel Lewis take Anne Weying to be your lawfully wedded wife? In sickness and in health, for richer for poorer till death do you part?”
I take you Venom. Eddie promised clutching at the Symbiote’s form. This was his vow. To always sustain and care for Venom until the end of time. You are mine. I am yours.
“I do” Dan vowed
The Priest smiled “Then it is with great pleasure that I pronounce you man and wife”
We are Venom. Both human and Symbiote spoke together, Venom morphing into a black band around Eddie’s ring finger. Like marriage indeed. Eddie couldn’t help but grin. It may not be legal and it may not be expected but damn if it didn’t feel amazing.
Eddie... Venom purred a black tendril slipping up from the collar of his shirt. Love you Eddie.
