Chapter Text
Chanyeol is about to go crazy when he can’t find any trace of Baekhyun inside the penthouse when he finally comes back to his home after three days on a business trip.
Even if he tries to look at every corner in the house, or even calls his phone, Baekhyun is nowhere to be found. The bodyguards that he hired to guard Baekhyun 24/7 are no help either. They are as confused as him too.
He will deal with them later after he finds Baekhyun back.
Chanyeol immediately called his assistant to put up missing ads on the internet and television as soon as possible. He hired thousands of securities to go all over the country searching for his beloved spouse.
It’s not like he doesn’t want to seek help from the police, but he is fully aware that they are a bit slow on their job.
Why would he risk that when he has money and connections to find Baekhyun in a faster way?
Eventually, the police are the ones who offer to assist him in finding Baekhyun after they hear the news of his missing spouse.
Chanyeol also makes sure to check on the airport or the country’s borders if somehow Baekhyun managed to go to another country without his knowledge.
Even the national security agency is willing to assist him to find Baekhyun.
After all, Park Chanyeol is one of the most important figures in this nation after the president.
For the next two hours, the news is covered with the missing Baekhyun.
Countless security, police, and detectives are dispatched to find his beloved back to his arm. He also put up reward money if someone managed to find Baekhyun.
Every second that he spends without knowing Baekhyun’s whereabouts is torture to him.
He is restless and filled with anxiety, scared that something bad might happen to Baekhyun.
What if someone kidnapped him?
No.
That’s impossible.
The abductor would’ve called him right away for ransom instead of this deadly silence.
Chanyeol was about to make a call to his assistance to raise the reward money when suddenly, the chief security ran to him.
“W-We found him!”
-
Chanyeol uses his private helicopter because it is way faster than using the road. The place that they brought him is somewhere remote, a small village that is far from the city.
A place that he never thought existed before.
Just how in the world Baekhyun managed to find a place like this?
Chanyeol thought that he knew everything about Baekhyun, he even hired investigators to do background checks on him in case Baekhyun kept any secrets from him.
Guess he should hire another one after this.
And perhaps he should seriously consider putting a tracking device on his beloved.
-
Bekhyun opened his eyes when he felt someone embracing him from behind, hot breaths on his neck before the person buried his face in his hair.
And by that gesture, Baekhyun just knows who it is.
“Chanyeol?”
He called for his husband, the said man sighed heavily before tightening his grip on him, gluing their bodies impossibly close together -- scared that Baekhyun might vanish if he loses his grip.
“Don’t do that again, I almost went crazy.”
“I thought you would be back in two days?” Baekhyun questioned.
“Doesn’t matter, you need to tell me if you want to go out.” Chanyeol sounds exhausted, probably because he just came back from his business trip and has to go through all the trouble to find Baekhyun.
"You’re busy, I don’t want to disturb you.”
“You’re never a disturbance to me but I’m wondering, why and how have you managed to get here?” It doesn’t make sense how Baekhyun managed to slip without being noticed by the security guards outside their home.
“Well….” Baekhyun trailed off the answer.
“Well?” Chanyeol asked, his small darling turned to him -- he feels like his heart is bursting the moment he finally gets to see Baekhyun’s pretty face again.
Ah, it’s crazy how he keeps falling in love with him each time he sees him.
“When I was a child, my family got lost on the road and we were offered to stay in this village. I remember how peaceful this place was compared to the city,” Baekhyun said and Chanyeol only listened intently.
“The villagers are very kind to us and I never felt so much kindness from a community before, when I was a child, I only thought that my family and friends were the only ones that were kind to me,” Baekhyun continued.
“But I was wrong, even though we were strangers to them, the people here still treat us with warmth.” The smaller one finished.
“I see, no wonder there are no records that you've ever been here,” Chanyeol muttered under his breath, remembering the files that all the investigators he hired gave him regarding Baekhyun.
“What?” Baekhyun couldn't catch what his husband was mumbling about just now.
"Uh, nothing. So why did you escape from our home?" Chanyeol quickly changes the subject and asks about the thing that he is most curious about.
Baekhyun blinked his eyes several times before looking away from his husband, his cheeks flaming red.
“I-It’s nothing,” Baekhyun said softly.
But Chanyeol could hear it very well and knows that his husband is lying to him.
“My love, you are aware that I know everything about you.”
“Everything,” Chanyeol emphasizes the word again but this time his tone becomes darker.
Though Baekhyun doesn’t realize the exact meaning of his words. Still innocent and gullible as ever.
“I feel lonely without you, that house becomes too big and I just feel….sad.” The smaller still didn’t look at his husband’s eyes.
Hearing the confession from his husband, his heart filled with regret for always leaving him alone inside the penthouse despite Chanyeol swore to make him happy and satisfied Baekhyun with everything that he has.
“I’m so sorry my dear, I should really consider working from home from now on,” Chanyeol said, making a mental note to prepare for the transition later.
Baekhyun immediately looked up, eyes wide in surprise.
“No! You can’t do that! I don’t want you to cause any trouble to your workers.” Baekhyun said as he remembers how trouble his husband’s assistant was because Chanyeol refused to go to work right after their honeymoon.
“Is that so?” Chanyeol asked, looking genuinely clueless.
Baekhyun sighed, living like a prince and always on top of social hierarchy, probably one of the reasons that his husband became this clueless over regular people’s life.
“Yes, you need to have compassion for others too,” Baekhyun said, his husband humming in acknowledgment.
“If you said so,”
“Then, I will bring you on my business trips, I don’t want you to disappear again.” Chanyeol tightens his grip around Baekhyun.
“I’m not disappearing Chanyeol, and I'm sorry for leaving without saying anything so please don’t get angry with the bodyguards, I’m the one at fault here.” Baekhyun hopes that they will get to keep their job by the end of the day.
“Now, you remind me, how in the world do you escape from them?” Chanyeol asked, curious how his husband could get away from them because as far as he knows, the bodyguards that he hired are specially trained.
“Uhm, I just remember their shift pattern and usually they will keep their guard lower during the changing,” Baekhyun explained and Chanyeol makes a note inside his head to lecture those bodyguards and inform them about this matter.
“Alright, I will only give a warning to them since this is their first mistake.” The chairman said calmly despite his head being raging with the urge to lecture those bodyguards.
“But Chanyeol, how did you find me?” Baekhyun titled his head to the side, curious because he never once told Chanyeol about this place before.
Chanyeol starts to remember those ads that he placed all over the country, insane media coverage, national security agency involvement, and the police making his missing spouse their top priority.
Knowing Baekhyun, he probably wouldn’t be pleased when he heard it.
“That’s not important my love, just go back to sleep.”
And somehow, Baekhyun went back to sleep like a baby again.
As for Chanyeol, he is going to make sure that his assistant will erase everything about the search before his lovely husband wakes up again.
