Better Knot Bow Tie Company: Act One

Summary:

Blaine Anderson has been a Better Knot Bow Tie Company monthly subscriber for years. He's taken a hiatus from Broadway to facilitate the Journey Performing Arts School's summer program in New York. What happens when a zany bow tie sets off a chain reaction of events that may change their futures forever?

Notes:

This will be my story for the Tan Hand Tan Lines 2021 Summer Event hosted by To Day Dream Believers. We'll see what other characters show up and also the rating may change. I may or may not write for all of the days, but rest assured I will not abandon this fanfic it will be complete by the end of the month! [Each chapter will celebrate a new bow tie, too!]

Update: Because I keep getting asked :D I created all the artwork and logo. I'm a graphic designer by day for my "real job" and a fanfic author by night. Also, as of writing this story, there is no such company as Better Knot Bow Ties (it's all made up).

Today's words: Beneveloant and Bow (and yes, I know it's supposed to be the other bow but I like to play with words♥ and I've had this idea stuck in my head for a long time, so here we go!)

Subject: Thank you for your boldness

To the Better Knot Bow Tie Company,

I am writing to give my sincerest thanks for your bow tie subscriptions. I’ve been a subscriber for over three years to the Playful, Cosmopolitan, and Scholarly boxes. I look forward to them!

I must say, the most recent selection for the Playful Box was quite extraordinarily bold and out there, which I adored. It was a huge hit with my summer camp kids this morning, who decided that I was, in fact, “cool” because I wore it. Later this month, I have an audition for a show on Broadway opening this fall, and I can’t help but think this bow tie, in particular, would help me stand out from the crowd. I think I should wear it, don’t you?

Thank you for brightening my day.

Dear Mr. Anderson,

Thank you for your cheerful letter. We love to hear where our bow ties are having adventures out in the world. We definitely think you should wear the bow tie to your audition and wish you the best of luck. Let us know how it goes! We’ll pass your compliments on to our designer as well.

Sincerely,

Dear Marley,

I didn’t expect to get a reply; that was sweet. Thank you. After my classes today, I actually have an inquiry. My afternoon summer camp kids were even more excited about the bow tie than my morning kids. They decided to write their summer play project about a troupe of dancing dinosaurs, complete with puppets and… You guessed it. They all want bow ties. Would it even be possible to purchase 30 of a particular design, or are they exclusive to the boxes?

Thank you,

Blaine Anderson

Dear Mr. Anderson,

Thank you for your inquiry. Normally, the bow ties are exclusive to the boxes. However, the owner and designer, Kurt Hummel, was so delighted by your stories when I told him about the emails that he would like to donate the bow ties as he’s familiar with the school and its amazing programs. Please let us know where you would like us to send them, and we’ll get them out to you by next week.

He also told me to tell you to “break a leg” in your audition.

Sincerely,

Marley Rose

Dear Marley,

Wow. I’m speechless. I didn’t think we’d even be able to get them, much less have them donated. What a benevolent act of kindness. We appreciate it more than words can express. The kids will be overjoyed! I would be more than happy to pick them up. I believe your facilities are in New York? If that is possible, let me know. It will at least save you on shipping, which I’m sure isn’t that big of an issue, but it would allow me to feel like I’m doing my part with such a generous offer.

Much gratitude,

Blaine

Dear Blaine,

We’d love to meet a long-time customer and the summer program director for the school (not to mention dinosaur enthusiast). If you’d like to pick them up Monday or Tuesday between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., we’ll have them ready for you. I’ve attached a map with the address and the code you will need for the elevator.

Let me know if I can do anything else for you.

Marley
