There was a lot about the future that Daniel was still getting used to. Like, holy mackerel, there was a lot to take in. Electric cars, spaceships, everything he ever used in his lifetime being considered vintage. That was a lot to take in. The one thing he did give the future, however, were the pictures. Yes, no polio and all that jazz was great. But also, getting to see pictures right after you take them. And-- and --being able to take as many as he wanted.
He still didn’t know how to share all the pictures he took. Daisy liked to laugh at him because he would print them out and frame them more often than he would put them anywhere on the internet. He left Daisy to share all of the pictures he took to their friends as he was still very bad with the group chat. Apparently it wasn’t just stressful to him to have to keep track of what people were talking about in that thing, so that made him feel better. He just liked to chime in now and again and like everyone’s pictures. He also liked to give Daisy pictures of their kids to put on there.
Daisy said he was obsessed, but she said it with a smile so he didn’t feel bad about it. He couldn’t help himself! He never had that growing up. He had the occasional baby picture, a few pictures from The War, and the one’s from the news clippings that Jarvis gave him. Now, though, he could have pictures of his kids as they grew and video.
He had a video of when Alfie, his and Daisy’s oldest, was five and their daughter Annie was two and just learning to talk. Sometimes when he was sad he would just watch it on repeat and laugh at the sweet look on little Alfie’s face when his sister said his name, his mouth a comical “o” and his eyes the size of dinner plates.
“Did you hear that dad! She said Alfie! She said Alfie! Annie, Annie, Annie, say Alfie! Say Alfie!”
And in her sweet chime-like voice, “Alfie!”
How did you get any better than that? And all of this just on his phone! His telephone! In Daniel’s books, it was the best part of the future so far. Well aside from his family of course. They took the cake.
