It’s Jinkook day!

The best say to honor our favorite ship is a canon-compliant fic IMO.

Hope you enjoy it!

Work Text:

It was one of those rare lazy weekends when Jimin and Taehyung found themselves alone and restless at the dorm. Lying in Jungkook’s bed with the last maknae nowhere to be found for mischief, Taehyung whined at how bored he was.

“Jiminie! Where’s kookie? I wanna do something on the side of stupid,” Tae grumbled as he threw his phone to the bedside.

“I don’t know... he came back with us after practice then disappeared. You know how he is... never answering or even checking our messages...” Jimin answered, all the while continuing to scroll down on his twitter feed. Making a secret account was one of the funniest things he ever did. As conceited as it may sound, Jimin enjoyed how fans talked about them. He found the ‘jikook’ and ‘vmin’ tags hilarious and would often show Taehyung and Jungkook.

“What’s that?” Taehyung pointed, stopping Jimin’s scrolling.

“Oh... it’s a Taejin thread... you know how fans ship you with Jin-hyung.” Jimin explained, opening the thread.

“No... I know about that.. I meant... that...” Tae pointed again at the thumbnail. “Kook’s glaring at me!”

Jimin laughed at Tae’s oblivion. “Kook is always glaring at you when you get too close to Hyung...”

Tae frowned as he thought of those moments in the thread. “I guess I never noticed it... Kook’s a bit too kookie sometimes...”

“Hyung tolerates it. I think he even likes it...” Jimin replied, moving on until a thought hit him. “Since Kookie’s nowhere to be found... let’s drag hyung out to treat us to some noodles!”

Tae sat up in excitement and squealed at the prospect of getting free noodles from Jin-hyung. “It’s been ages since he took us out!”

“We are 25 now though... but what the heck... he babies Jungkookie... why not us...” Jimin added and dragged Tae out to head down to Jin’s floor.

The 95s ran excitedly past the elevator and Jimin punched in the code. They found the living room empty with the AC and pin lights on. They roamed to the kitchen and found some breakfast food on the table with 1 setting ready.

“It’s hyung’s cooking...” Tae remarked, as he scarfed down the kimchi fried rice and eggs. “Oh damn did I miss this.”

“He’s not in his game room Tae!” Jimin shouted coming back to see Taehyung helping himself and judging the younger for stealing food.

“I’m hungry and hyung’s food is delicious.” Tae defended as he followed Jimin towards the master’s bedroom.

“There’s a draft coming from inside...” Jimin whispered with a twinkle in his eye.
Tae winked back and they both crashed into the room loudly and jumped the sleeping heap that could only be Jin... or so they thought.

“Wakey wakey Hyungie!” Tae shouted as he peeled off the grey comforter.

“It’s your favorite dongsaennnngggsss” Jimin trailed off in surprise, because instead of light brown locks they were met by a very distinct set of permed, black curls.

“Jungkook?!” The two shouted at the very sleepy maknae who finally faced them with half-lidded eyes.

“So noisy...” Jungkook grumbled and grabbed the covers back from Taehyung.
Although it was not unusual for Jungkook to be seen sleeping in his hyungs’ beds, it was unusual for him to be sleeping in their beds without a shirt.

“Yah! Jeon Jungkook don’t ignore your hyungs!” Jimin shouted back and pulling at the comforter.

Jungkook couldn’t care less and turned his back. He exposed a sight that was even more shocking.

“What the hell happened to your back Kookie? It looks like you were mauled by a bear...” Tae said touching one of the blooming purplish mark on Jungkook’s’s shoulder. There was a hint of a bite and a few scratches in the parts they could see.
It then dawned on them what it was that most likely transpired the night before.
The 95s jumped out and screamed, “are you freakin’ naked?!”

“So what if I am?! You guys aren’t supposed to be here...” he grumbled on and buried his face deeper into the pillow.

“Yeah... you guys really aren’t supposed to be here... let alone spilling food all over my bedroom floor,” said a deep, towering voice from the door.

The 95s slowly turned around and saw Jin-hyung leaning against the door with an annoyed look on his face.

“I’ll clean that up,” Tae squeaked and rushed out. They haven’t seen Jin’s cold angry face in a long time and it is no doubt as terrifying as it was 10 years ago.

“I’ll help him...” Jimin added and ran.
They heard Jungkook say “Hi,” sweetly before giggling as they exited the room.

“You saw what I saw right?” Tae whispered as they took their time in the utility area-pretending to have difficulty finding a broom and a dust pan.

“I am freakin’ traumatized! My eyes were burned!” Jimin cried out, dramatically scratching at his own cheeks.

“Did you even know Kookie was gay?” Tae asked, in that innocently oblivious alien-like way of his.

“Yeah I knew... he’s bisexual last we spoke... I didn’t know Hyung was gay.”Jimin replied closing his eyes as he took a meditative stance, trying to wrap his thoughts on it.

“Yeah I didn’t know too...” Jin suddenly said again from behind them.

“Hyung!” The two stood up with the most fearful smiles that broke Jin’s facade.

The eldest broke out into laughter and drag the two younger ones by the ears to the dining area where a lunch spread of japanese food was set.

“You two are lucky my brother gave extra... I only ordered for me and JK.” Jin explained handing the two more plates, mats, and chopsticks. “Why are you guys causing trouble at my place anyway?”

“We got bored and wanted to bother you...” Jimin admitted, already preoccupied with the tuna sashimi in front of him.

Jin snapped at Jimin’s hands, “wait for JK, he’ll be out of the shower in a few minutes...”

Jimin and Tae retracted their hands and kept them tucked beneath their thighs.

“So hyung... why did you bite Kook?” Tae asked teasingly, making Jimin’s eyes blow up.

Jin calmly sipped on his tea as if it was the most mundane question ever. “He was being a brat,” he answered then winked at them suggestively- sending shivers down their spines.

“I was not...” Jungkook retorted as he took his place beside Jin. “You always bite me...”

Jin shrugged and kissed JK’s temple.

“Hyung was looking for you, so I said you were sick with the flu. Noona added some more miso soup and a ramen kit for you.”

“I’ll text Noona and tell her you lied...” JK replied, sipping on the special red clam miso soup from Jin’s brother and sister-in-law. “I doubt she believed you anyway.”

The two laughed in their own little world. It made the 95s feel intrusive. It was like they were prying into a private, domestic life of a young married couple. Jimin glanced and Tae, and their soulmate telepathy connected.

“Wait up... wait up...” they both said, capturing the other two’s attention. “We’re you’re best friends...” they declared.

“Yoongi is my best friend but go on...” Jin interrupted.

“What is going on here???” The shouted dramatically waving their hands all around.

“You guys really are idiots,” JK replied, eating more yakiniku. “And here I thought Jimin-hyung was smart.”

Jin sighed at them then and placed some spicy salmon rolls onto their plates. Jungkook tried to hold his laughter as his hyungs reluctantly ate the chili powder covered concoction. He grabbed Jin’s hand underneath the table and rubbed circles on the back with pride.

“Don’t change the topic!” Tae demanded in between gulps of water.

“We are eating a nice meal from my brother’s restaurant. You guys wanted to annoy me into feeding you, so please have more,” Jin replied again and place a few more spicy items on their plates.

“We meant with you two.”

Jungkook tensed for a moment but then continued eating. Jimin caught him and glared back while Tae kept at a staring contest with Jin-hyung.

“We are what we are...” Jungkook said tersely, staring Jimin down.

Telepathic message received.

“In the simplest terms...” Jin added then stood up- taking his plate to the sink. “I’ll have to leave you guys again. Yoongi’s waiting for me at the studio. I’ll be back dinner time.”

“Okay, txt me if Yoongi-hyung will eat here too.” Jungkook replied, starting to clean up the table with Jimin and Tae.

Jin came back dressed in a cap a light shirt and jeans. He’s wearing a mask and holding on to small black backpack. He kissed Jungkook’s cheek and ruffled the other dongsaeng’s hair before heading off.
The three had just finished drying the dishes and upon finishing the last chopstick, Tae and Jimin took to Jungkook’s sides and dragged him to the living room for an interrogation.

“Spill Kookie, what alternative reality is this?” Jimin pushed, trying to look tall as he stood with his arms cross before the seated Jungkook.

“Spill what? What you saw is what you saw...” Jungkook groaned.

“No we mean... what are you guys?... obviously this is more lovey-dovey than just sex...” Tae asked excitedly kneeling by Jungkook’s thigh like a puppy.

Jungkook let out a deep sigh and let a loud “I can’t answer coz I don’t know!” Jungkook slung an arm over his eyes as he let his head fall back to the coach.

“How can you not know? You’re playing house with Hyung???” Jimin ranted and the points raised really made it sound ridiculous.

“Jin is evasive about talking labels...” Jungkook admitted in barely a whisper but enough for Taehyung to catch.

The second youngest took no time and grappled his only dongsaeng into a cuddle. “Awwwhhh is that why you haven’t told us?” Tae asked, stroking Jungkook’s hair.

Jimin dropped on top of them and wrapped both up in an embrace. “Sorry I pushed you Kook... it’s just shocking you know... not knowing your friends were hooking up and then finding out they are practically married!”

“I know... I wanted to tell you about it but I didn’t wanna talk about THIS problem out loud.” Jungkook curled into his hyung’s hold.

“Make him talk about it Kook... Jin-hyung’s a bigger over-thinker than all of us... he seems cavalier all the time but you know that he’s not...” Jimin continues, “and hyung is not the type to play with feelings...”

“The bigger question, though, is what is this to you Kook?” Tae added with a comforting kiss.

It was about 6PM when Jin came back alone. He texted that Yoongi wanted to keep on working at the Genius Lab for the rest of the night. Jungkook was in the middle of frying up some fish cakes when he heard Jin’s voice getting closer, ranting about bumps in the bike lane. He was too preoccupied with his thoughts to actually gave real replies.

Suddenly, a familiar warmth spread against his back and a set of arms were around his tiny waist. Jungkook couldn’t help but smile at Jin’s freshly showered sent.

“What’s on your mind Toki? You’ve been on autopilot since I got here.” Jin asked worriedly, nesting his chin onto Jungkook’s shoulder after kissing that spot he knew his bite mark was under.

“A lot obviously... the two boneheads stayed for a bit and we played mario kart all day,” Jungkook replied as he continued on to the stew. “We ruined your high scores in your other games too so good luck with that...” Jin nodded along, patiently waiting and listening. At some point he took the ladle from Jungkook and took over while the other took out the rest of the banchan. “It was nice having a free day like this. I missed you though,” Jungkook admitted, “I know we didn’t plan on anything together for the day so it’s cool... and you’re here now... so I’m really happy.” It was now his turn to give Jin a hug from the back. Jungkook purred as he rested his temple on the wide space between Jin’s scapulas. “I like this... I really really like this Jin,” Jungkook softly declared. He could hear the change of pace in Jin’s heartbeat and how Jin’s muscles relaxed softly.

“I really like this too JK...” Jin replied softly but it had that hint of fear hidden deep in the dulcet tone.

“What are we hyung? I mean... I know I love you...” Jungkook finally asked, “but what am I to you?”

Jin paused for a moment. Tensing in Jungkook’s hold but making no effort to leave. He stood there frozen as his heart paced and he tried his best school his breathing.

“We are what we are JK... I...” he tried to answer but he was about to go on full blown panic attack until he felt Jungkook kiss his back.

“I’m sorry... I won’t push anymore... this morning just got me thinking that’s all...” Jungkook reassured but Jin could hear the heartbreak. Jungkook almost let go but Jin grabbed on. He turned off the stove and faced the younger man.

“It’s not that I don’t love you... I do... and I... hope you can feel that...” Jin declared as he held Jungkook tightly in his arms. “I’m deathly afraid that you wouldn’t like my honest answer... so i freeze whenever you ask.”

“I wanna hear it Jin... I’ve been asking since forever... after so many years of whatever this is... I wanna know...” Jungkook kissed Jin’s cheek and guided Jin towards the couch.

They sat side by side, hands held tightly together.

“I feel loved... I don’t doubt that Jin... but it confuses me why you just won’t define our relationship,” Jungkook began again after a very pregnant pause. “I’m not a kid anymore... we obviously know that...” he added quickly when he saw Jin wince at the first phrase. “I just need to know if I’m reading this right.”

“What are you reading?” Jin asked, throat dry and voice barely audible.

“Your family treats me like I’m your partner... they expect me with you even at intimate family events... I have clothes in your closet... Your place feels like my home in the city... it feels like... but I’m so scared that you’d think I’m assuming to much...” Jungkook rambled on but was interrupted with Jin’s sudden tackle. One minute he was talking the next he was on his back with the most handsome man ever hovering on top of him- ready to crash lips at any moment.

“What are you assuming JK?” Jin asked as he hovered his face mere centimeters away from Jungkook’s lips.

“It feels like we’re married and I like it...” Jungkook finishes then pulls Jin into a searing kiss. Jin had tears falling on his cheeks but they refused to stop kissing. It didn’t feel like lust though, it felt more like Jin was relieved. All of his worries dissipated and Jungkook knew at that moment that Jin saw them that way too.
After an eternity of lips and hands roaming all over each other, Jin had to pause before going further.

“Ever since I fell in love with you, I knew you were it... but you just came of age when we first kissed. Even now I can’t help but feel scared that someone else is better for you but I don’t want you to leave me either... I didn’t want to scare you away just because I was older and already at that time in my life...” Jin explained more. Jungkook kept on caressing Jin’s face as he spoke whilst smiling contently. “I was scared every time you’d bring it up... because ‘boyfriend’ sounded too temporary for me... you’re my person... Yoongi told me that last year... you’re my person Jungkook- that’s what we are to me.” Jin finished it with a soft kiss and pulled Jungkook in again for a tight embrace.

“You’re my person too Jin. I’ve been in love with you since I was 15... I don’t think my heart can unlearn that ever... I’ll probably be more in love with you 60 year later,” he joked... closing his eyes to imagine them old and bickering over the dumbest things.

“We’ll be in our 80s...” Jin imagined along.
“You’re practically 30 Jin... so 90...” Jungkook teased.

“Age is just a number... with skin like this, I’ll look 40 beside your 80.”

Jin elbowed his side and they ended up wrestling on the floor for a good 15 mins before they rolled on theit backs laughing.
They eventually ate dinner and ended the night cuddling in bed.

Back at the dorms, Jimin and Tae were now in Jin’s bed- bored ever since Jungkook kicked them out.

“And we’re back to staring at the ceiling...” Jimin stated just to break the silence.

“Hmmm... I don’t mind,” Taehyung replied, “we can get Tannie tomorrow and take him for a walk.”

“That sounds fun...” Jimin was about to say more but he was distracted by the sudden buzz of his phone.

“Jungkookie?” Tae asked, waiting for Jimin to share the contents.

“He says thanks.”

“Happy to help” Taehyung preened then another beep.

“He also says to never ever crash on him like that again...” Jimin trailed when they both froze at a beep that registered in both their phones. It was from Jin-hyung and read:
“As much as I benifitted from your demonic behavior, I will smite you both if you so much as intrude on my bedroom again. For now though, I wish to you both the same clarity you gave to me and Jungkookie. May you two demons figure out what you are as well... platonic my ass... love, the best hyung ever.”

The two of them froze then looked to each other blushing. A minute dropped before the door suddenly opened and they say Yoongi looming at the door.

“Hyung texted me to check if you were in his room,” he said grumpily glaring at them.

“Uhm... we better go back to our rooms now,” Jimin jumped and made a move to fix his sweater.

Taehyung did the same and made his best efforts to avert his gaze as he struggled with his slippers. “Yup back to our separate bedrooms...”

Yoongi couldn’t help but roll his eyes as the two rushed off. “Seokjin-hyung is scary... thank god he loves me,” he remarked laughing at himself at the silliness of all this. He also made a note to himself to update Namjoon and Hoseok on all the chaos Vocal-line ended up in.

The End... for now...

Thank you Jinkook for 10 years! 💜
