Work Text:

(Y/n) surveyed her surroundings. After their class got attacked by the LOV during the training camp, she blacked out during the fight. She wasn’t sure how she got knocked out, but she vaguely remembers fighting in the fogged area; she must’ve lost consciousness there. But where was she now? (Y/n) could see she was chained to some kind of quirk-suppressing chair. No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn’t activate her quirk so she could get a scope of what was going on. Her quirk was able to survey an area and tell the exact coordinates of the location, as well as contacting other people what the coordinates were. (Y/n) noticed Bakugo chained to the seat beside her, still unconscious.

“Bakugo!” She hissed, trying to get him to wake up. All she could tell was that they were in some kind of bar. She couldn’t see anyone here, but she didn’t know how long it would be until someone showed up. Bakugo stirred a bit, seemingly yanking his head up when he regained consciousness. He immediately tried to yank out of his chains, growling as he did so. He didn’t even seem to notice (Y/n) was there until he turned his head.

“What the hell is going on?” Bakugo muttered.

“I don’t know,” (Y/n) said, “I just remember passing out after the fighting the League. I can’t use my quirk right now; these chains are suppressing it right now.”

“We need to figure out how to get out of here, quickly,” Bakugo said.

“Hold on you two; we just want to talk.” Bakugo and (Y/n) flinched when they heard the voice. There standing in front of them was Shigaraki, grinning as he stared at the two of them. The rest of the League had seemingly spawned in the bar. Kurogiri was cleaning glasses as if he’d been there the whole times. Dabi and Toga were sitting on the barstools, eyeing the two of them curiously. The others were standing by the exit doors in case something was to happen.

Bakugo glared at Shigaraki, who seemed undeterred by Bakugo’s rage emitting off of him. (Y/n) was avoiding eye contact, trying to find a way to escape her chains without being noticed. No matter what she did, the chains wouldn’t budge. (Y/n) could hear Shigaraki speaking to Bakugo, seemingly forgetting she was there. He spoke to him how UA had treated him poorly simply because of who he was. He showed off the photo from the Sports Festival, Bakugo in his chains. And even though the League presented interesting points, (Y/n) knew Bakugo was too stubborn to consider ever joining the League. (Y/n) winced in her memories of the Sports Festival, getting put out during the second round. Since her quirk wasn’t combat based, she hadn’t been getting much exposure to hand-to-hand combat as much as she wanted to. She had felt humiliated that day, but knew she shouldn’t dwell over it.

(Y/n) tried not to let her surprise show when a chain on her arm fell off. Shigaraki was still monologuing, so he didn’t notice. (Y/n) eyed the others carefully, then used her free hand to let her other arm free. She glanced to the door on her right, but realized she couldn’t bolt since Bakugo was still stuck. But now that she was free, she could use her quirk to contact help. There didn’t seem to be anyone close by to contact, but now she could assess where they were. It appeared if they just ran a few blocks, they’d be close to the city. But before (Y/n) could say anything, the wall besides them burst open. There were All Might, Gran Torino, and Aizawa.

(Y/n) immediately got up from her chair, taking a risk and tackling Toga off her stool. Dabi had already been obliterated by Gran Torino, and Bakugo had become free from his chains. Toga squealed in delight as (Y/n) tried to hold her down.

“Oh, how I’ve missed you!” Toga said with delight. (Y/n) furrowed her brow in confusion, but she didn’t have much time to dwell on it. She looked back only to feel herself become suffocated, and they all disappeared from the bar.

(Y/n) coughed and tried to catch her breath as she realized she wasn’t in the bar anymore. She was standing behind Spinner and Toga, frantically looking around her surroundings. The air was incredibly thick with tension, and (Y/n) realized what was happening. This horrifying man, if you could even call him that, was exuding such a presence that it caused her stomach to turn in knots. She noticed Bakugo standing on the other side of the area. She used her quirk, and her eyes widened when she noticed four similar people near the area. She couldn’t quite pinpoint who it was since her quirk was weakened in this moment. The presence got stronger until she saw five figures flying in the sky. She quickly recognized them as her classmates, and Kirishima was calling out to Bakugo. Bakugo grinned, and before Shigaraki could stop him, leaped in the air with his quirk and flew off with the rest of them.

“Dammit! This wasn’t how this was supposed to go!” Shigaraki yelled as Bakugo flew off. (Y/n) was happy they were able to escape, but her joy quickly fell when she realized that they weren’t coming back for her. Did they even realize she was still gone? She supposed it didn’t matter now; they were long gone now and the crazed man was telling Shigaraki they needed to leave. Well, if the students had forgotten about her, surely the League had forgotten too? (Y/n) turned to run, but Kurogiri was standing her.

“I’m afraid we need to go now.”

Bakugo and the others watched All Might fight All for One, seeing the bittersweet ending of All for One going to prison and All Might officially retiring. After the craziness of the night, Bakugo didn’t even realize (Y/n) wasn’t with them. He turned to look around the city, but there was no sign of her. He began tearing through the crowds, but then he realized she was never with him when they flew up. He never saw her after they got swept up.

“Deku! Where the hell is (Y/n)?!” Bakugo exclaimed. Deku yelped and turned to him, face furrowing in confusion.

“What? What are you-” realization hit Midoriya like a truck.

“Oh my God we forgot (Y/n),” Midoriya said, regret laced in his voice. “How did this happen? We were just so focused on saving you and we were so scared we didn’t realize (Y/n) was there, too.”

“How did you forget?!” Bakugo yelled. “She’s in more danger now! The heroes are still taking care of everything here and no one is there to help her! We can’t even go get her because we don’t know where they are!” Midoriya frowned, knowing Bakugo was right. There really wasn’t anything they could do now. The League could be anywhere at this point, and it would be nearly impossible to track them down.

“Is there anything we can do?” Izuku asked quietly. Bakugo huffed, hanging his head in shame.

“We both know the answer to that.”

Shigaraki was fuming when the League returned to the bar. He was itching his neck wildly; muttering swears and proclamations of vengeance as they walked back in. Suddenly he stopped entirely. He slowly turned his head towards (Y/n). A wide grin plastered onto his face.

“That’s right,” Shigaraki said, “you’re still here. Our mission wasn’t a complete bust.” (Y/n) looked at him with fearful eyes.

“What do you want with me? Was I some kind of bait?” She asked cautiously. She wouldn’t be surprised; in all of the bigger missions and assignments she had to do, she was always either bait or a watchguard for those doing the dirty work. Shigaraki giggled.

“Oh, quite the contrary. We’ve been watching you for a bit, and we have a proposal for you.”

“What do you mean?”

“We did a bit of digging into your past; Toga said she recognized you.” Toga gave a toothy grin

“I’ve changed a lot since we were little, huh?” She asked. “You always told me you thought I could be good. And yet, when I told you the woes of hero society, you still believed in me. It was such a shame you had to move away; I never forgot about you, though.”

(Y/n) could now remember when she met Toga; she couldn’t have been older than eight at the time. Toga was on the swings at the park, looking at the grass in great interest. (Y/n) had noticed her sitting by herself and perched herself on the swing beside her.

“Hi there,” (Y/n) had greeted cheerfully, “Why are you here all alone?”

“People are scared of me,” Toga said with a giggle. “I could suck up your blood with my quirk and look just like you!”

“Really? Wow! That’s a lot more impressive than my quirk; it’s just a bunch of numbers I don’t understand,” (Y/n) said grumpily. Toga looked at her in fascination.

“You’re still here,” she said with wide eyes. (Y/n) seemed confused, hopping off the swing.

“Do you want to play together? I brought a whole bunch of toys, and I’d really like you to play with me.

This became a routine for the two for the next couple weeks. (Y/n) would find Toga sitting at the swings and would play together until (Y/n) had to go home. It was the happiest Toga had ever felt; someone was willingly being with her, despite her quirk. But her world was destroyed when (Y/n) tearfully told Toga she was moving.

On one last visit to the park, Toga and (Y/n) were sitting together.

“This world doesn’t really like me,” Toga said. “Everyone thinks I have a bad quirk. That I’m bad. Do you ever think I could be good? The Heroes always say that I can’t be good. It’s a really bad world in heroes. I don’t even know if I want to be a hero anymore. What do you think?” (Y/n) offered a wonderfully bright smile.

“You’ve been a wonderful friend, Himiko,” she said, “and I don’t think you’re bad. Even if the whole wide world thinks you’re bad, I still think you can be good. I don’t think your quirk is who you are; you are what you are! And I think who you are is super cool. Tell you what Himiko; I’m going to become a hero, and when I do, I’m going to make sure everybody looks at everybody for who they are, and not whatever fancy pants quirk they have. That’s a promise.” Toga giggled, hopping off the swing. She engulfed (Y/n) in a hug, feeling tears fall on her neck.

“I don’t want you to go,” Toga said quietly, “but I know there isn’t anything I can do. When we’re big again, I’m going to come find you.”

“I’ll hold you to that!”

(Y/n) felt tears come to her eyes. In the few weeks she had known Himiko the two had become incredibly close. Toga had been (Y/n)’s first true friend, and losing her had been so hard. Toga bit her lip, cooing at (Y/n).

“I know you said I could’ve been good,” she said, “but this world has been so mean to me. Nobody wanted to try to help me. So, who cares anymore! They didn’t care any about me, so why should I for them?” Toga practically cackled, looking at (Y/n) with hearts in her eyes.

“They never treated you good, did they? I mean, they forgot about you! Time after time, you get cast away,” Shigaraki said. “So, why not join us? This picture-perfect world you wanted has only become worse and worse. Who knows if the heroes will try to come back for you? Did any of them really care about you? Toga never let you down, and we certainly won’t. So how about it?”

(Y/n) burst into tears. She knew Shigaraki was right. Even in her time in UA, (Y/n) had always been a stepping stone for everyone else’s success. She was never able to get close with anyone, and no one ever seemed particularly interested in her. She had gotten into 1-A off of pure whim. Aizawa never seemed to like her or saw much potential in her. But the League actually saw something in her. They believed in her.

It had been a month since Bakugo had seen (Y/n). The heroes were promising that they were looking for her, but Bakugo wasn’t entirely sold. They managed to find him in a night; so why was it taking so long to find her? Classes went on as usual, but it felt slightly off. Bakugo felt weird without (Y/n)’s enthusiastic voice ringing in his ears. Not everybody seemed as affected by her being gone than others. Midoriya looked guilty nearly every day, asking Aizawa if they had any lead nearly every day. Others, like Denki, acted like (Y/n) hadn’t been in the class to begin with. It felt unsettling for Bakugo, but he chose to ignore it. Bakugo and Midoriya had barely spoken to one another since (Y/n) was taken. Between Bakugo’s anger and Midoriya’s guilt, they just couldn’t be near one another.

An alarm went off.

The students were sent to evacuate from the building and find safety elsewhere. However, they couldn’t get out of the building as all of the doors were locked down. Bakugo tried brute forcing his way out, but the doors were so secure nothing would work. Students from all classes were running all over the place in a frenzied panic. A siren stopped everyone in their tracks.

“God, where is that coming from?!” Bakugo yelled.

“Excuse me?” A voice yelled out over the intercom. The students looked around, trying to find the source of the voice. “Can you all hear me? I hope so. UA, you’ve made some very grave mistakes. Underestimation will truly be your downfall. You’re sadly predictable, and you protect all of the wrong things. Such a shame this is how you have to learn your lesson.”

Izuku had connected the dots quickly.

“All Might!”

All Might was cornered. Shigaraki stood closest to him, a maniacal grin taking over his face. Dabi was leaning against the door, glancing for people every once in a while.

“Once again you have proven incredibly useful, Denki,” Shigaraki said. “You led us right to him; I’ve never seen him so vulnerable.” Denki casually shrugged his shoulders with a grin.

“Eh, you’ve done so much for me. I’m more than happy to help out.”

“How far are they (Y/n)?” Dabi asked. (Y/n) and Toga were cuddling in the corner of the room, Toga claiming that she needed her (Y/n) time.

“Midoriya and Bakugo are getting closer; Midoriya must’ve known which room All Might was in. Do we need to engage?” (Y/n) asked. Shigaraki shook his head.

“That won’t be necessary; I want those brats to see All Might’s last moments.”

By the time Midoriya and Bakugo got to the room All Might was in, Shigaraki had four fingers on his head. Bakugo and Midoriya sprinted for him, but it was too late. By the time they blasted the door open, All Might was reduced to a pile of dust.

“What a shame,” Denki said with fake pity in his voice.

“Denki? What the hell?” Bakugo asked quietly. Denki chuckled, turning to the corner of the room.

“Even now you still won’t acknowledge her. How disappointing.” (Y/n) chuckled as she stepped beside Denki.

“Oh, I’m sure they didn’t mean to,” (Y/n) said playfully. “Long time no sees.”

“It’s funny, really,” (Y/n) said with a grin. “Maybe if you hadn’t forgotten about me, your idol would still be alive. Maybe if you hadn’t regarded Denki like a joke, he’d be more willing to be a hero. But alas, your own selfish wants got in the way. I’d love to chat more, but we’ve got to go. I’d suggest getting a broom for that mess.”

“Their faces were priceless!” Denki exclaimed. They were at a new temporary location to wait of the fuss. (Y/n) chuckled, nodding.

“They looked so pitiful. It made me want to barf.” Toga nuzzled herself into (Y/n)’s neck, and (Y/n) could feel her frown.

“I wanted to stab them so badly.”

“I know,” (Y/n) said, petting her hair, “but this was a much more satisfying ending.” Denki grinned.

“I have to agree.”
