Kagome had taught him many things.
He was not a freak of nature. He was not an abomination. He was not deserving of hatred or isolation or mistreatment just because of what he was.
He was worthy of life, of love, of friendship and happiness.
He was an asshole.
That was probably the most difficult lesson to swallow, though he agreed wholeheartedly with it. He was an asshole, always had been, used it to his advantage to keep himself alive. Most people wanted nothing to do with him and the ones that did wanted him dead, what use did he have for kindness?
But he’d been an asshole to her, in so many ways she’d never deserved.
With a bitter sigh he heaved himself up from the well where he’d taken to remembering her and all the ways he’d taken her for granted, and made his way back to the village- alone.
