Work Text:
Hawks arrived at your hideout past midnight. The late time was perfect to hide his identity in the darkness. He landed at a window that leads to your private room. You left it unlocked for him. It’s part of a routine you guys have now. He enters the room and relaxes at the scent coming from your candle. Eucalyptus and mint. You aren’t in your room so he looks around for a bit. You have a very simple room design for a jewel thief. A bed, a dresser, the nightstand where the candle resides, and a couple of plants. Hawks takes a seat on the bed when he hears a door open behind him.
You enter your room wearing a silk robe over a pajama shirt and shorts. You were ready for bed. You chuckle softly when you see him sitting on your bed. “Back so soon? You were just here last night,” you say while taking off your slippers. He doesn’t respond to you. “Aw don’t be like that. You were the one that came here on your own,” you say as you climb onto the bed behind him. You start to play with his hair and lean into his ear. “Clearly you wanted something if you’re back again,” you whisper in his ear.
Your voice makes him shiver and he leans into your touch. “Well birdie, did you want something?” You’re right, he does want something. But for some reason he just can’t say it. Lately he’s been feeling a sense of guilt for his constant need to see you. He’s the Number 2 hero and you’re the thief he was asked to catch. Yet here he is, putty in your pretty little hands. When he doesn’t give you a response, you sigh and back away.
“Well if you don’t want anything, I’ll just go to sleep.” You go to lay down under the blankets. When you close your eyes you feel the bed shift. You open your eyes to his flushed face staring down at you. “Did you change your mind, birdie?” Hawks leans down and kisses you. “I’ll take that as a yes then,” you say as you sit up. Hawks removes his jacket and wonders to himself how he got so deep into this situation. So deep into you.
----------------
It was another evening in the city. Hawks stood on top of a building looking down on the busy street. Apparently there was a villain in the area that had been causing so much trouble, they had to send him in to survey the situation. Several robberies had happened at various jewelry stores and museums. According to the police, they would arrive at the scene with the jewels missing and the employees standing still, looking dazed. It was like someone put them in a trance. The police had no clue where to start to even find the culprit, so they asked Hawks for some assistance.
So now Hawks is waiting on the rooftops, expecting some sort of suspicious activity. He looks down at the people walking by. A few high school kids hanging out, a family on their way home with groceries, and a few couples here and there. Nothing really out of the ordinary. He sighs and checks his phone.
6 o’clock already? I’ll give it another 15 minutes before I move on to the next area. Hawks puts his phone away and returns to people watching when he hears someone yelling. He looks over and sees some man attempting to snatch a woman’s purse. Duty calls, he thinks to himself as he springs into action.
“Woah there buddy, what’s with the purse snatching,” Hawks says as he swoops in and grabs the purse from the man. He returns the purse to the woman and motions for her to get behind him. The man attempts to pull something from his pocket, but is quickly subdued by the hero’s feathers.
“Sorry man, but we can’t have any of that.” Hawks turns towards the woman. “You alright ma’am? Need any assistance going home?”
“That won’t be necessary, but thank you young man,” the woman smiles. “Anytime ma’am.” As the woman takes her leave, Hawks grabs the attempted robber to hand him over to the police. As they make their way towards the police station, Hawks hears the sound of an alarm. Crap, what is it now?, he thinks to himself.
“Hawks, you’re just in time! We got word of an alarm being tripped at this jewelry store a few minutes ago,” says an officer as he approaches the hero and the robber. The officer looks in confusion. “What’s with this guy?”
“I caught him trying to purse snatch, you can take him in,” Hawks says as he hands over the man. “So, same story as last time,” Hawks asks the officer. “Yeah, employee in a daze, no sign of the culprit.”
“Well they couldn’t have gotten too far, I’ll let you know if I found anything,” Hawks says as he takes off into the sky. The hero flies over the rooftops looking for the suspect. This would be a lot easier if the police would have actually gotten a description of the thief. Hawks stops on a building and looks around. He sees nothing but regular civilians walking around until his eyes land on a particular one. You.
You’re walking down the street opposite him. You’re wearing a long, black trench coat and holding on to a messenger bag hanging from your shoulder. Your hair frames your face perfectly as it bounces with each step you take. Hawks wonders to himself why you of all people caught his attention. Well you were pretty attractive, but it was as if something grabbed his attention from the task at hand. He was ready to keep moving when you stopped and made eye contact with him. He thought maybe you were a fan until he saw what you did next.
-------------------
In the villain world, you were known as Haze. Your quirk, Mind Fog, allowed you to take control of someone’s mind and put them in a dreamscape of sorts. The dreamscape can bring out a person’s fears and desires and they can feel whatever happens to them in the dreamscape. You can also see what they see. The effects of your quirk last as long as you are able to keep the person’s mind in your control.
You are currently at the back entrance of a jewelry store. You grab your phone from your bag and check the time. 6 o’clock. The store should be closing soon. That idiot better be ready with the distraction. You have been causing a bit of a commotion in the area recently, what with your 5, almost 6, robberies. According to an inside source of your's, the police have asked for the assistance of Number 2 Pro Hero Hawks in finding out who you are. You figured they would try whatever they could to catch you, but calling on Hawks of all people was surprising. Since the hero is in the area looking for you, you might as well have a little fun with him, right?
So you paid off some small time thief on the street to set up a distraction for Hawks. While the hero was distracted, you made your way in and out of the jewelry store in about 5 minutes. A new personal best if you do say so yourself. As you make your way down the street, you see the hero standing on a rooftop.
Looks like the little birdie is right on time. Let’s send him a little wake up call. You use your quirk to bring his attention to you. You smile to yourself. Poor hero doesn’t even know what he’s in for. You stop in your tracks and make eye contact with him. His confusion is apparent, even if he tries to hide it. You smile at Hawks and point to your bag with the stolen jewelry inside. You give him a wink and make a run for it down an alleyway. You laugh to yourself. Let the fun begin.
----------------
When Hawks sees you point to your bag, he knows exactly what’s in it. And when he sees you take off for the alleyway, he immediately flies off after you. You’re pretty fast, but not fast enough to get away from the winged hero. After a few turns, he catches you at a dead end, or so he thinks. He lands a few feet away from you, staring you down.
“You can’t run anymore. You’re cornered, so surrender,” Hawks says to you. Immediately, your expression changes. You look defeated as you drop the bag and raise your arms up. The hero raises an eyebrow, suspicious of how easily you surrendered. You look up at him at him with a sad look on your face.
“Look I’m sorry okay. I didn’t want to steal, but they forced me to do it. My family is in danger and I have to help them,” you pleaded with the hero. Her family huh? She’s probably being blackmailed by some higher up. Hawks sighs and takes a step closer to you. “Look, if all of what you said is true, I still need to take you in for questioning, but I’m sure we could help with your situation. So, will you come with me peacefully?”
You look up and the hero and smile. “Yes! Yes I will!” Hawks walks towards you to pick up the bag. “Well let’s get going then.” Hawks turns around and you smirk to yourself, ready to make a move. You rush and grab onto the bag and are immediately met with feathers pointed at you. “You didn’t think I was just gonna drop my guard around you because you told me a sob story, did ya?” Hawks turns his head slightly and looks at you from the corner of his eye.
You smile and make eye contact with him. “Of course not hero, but don’t think you have me beat.” You lean in closer to whisper in his ear. “Because I’ve already got you right where I want you.” Right when Hawks is about to respond, he freezes. The feathers pointed at you drop to the ground, along with the bag of stolen jewelry.
Suddenly Hawks sees nothing but a purple fog. He can’t move or speak. He feels suffocated in the foggy landscape. He sees a figure in the fog walking towards him. As it gets closer, he hears humming. The fog starts to clear and he sees you, but you look different than what he just saw. You’re wearing a long purple dress with slits on each side. Your cleavage is visible with the deep cut of the neck line. As you approach him, your hips sway to the tune of the song you’re humming. The blush on his face increases as you get closer and closer.
While Hawks is stuck in the trance you put him under, you pick up your bag and grab one of the feathers. You laugh to yourself. “That was way too easy. Well I better take my leave now. Sorry to leave you like this hero, but you understand right?” You start to walk away but notice the nervous look on his face and stop. “I might as well take a look and see what’s got him so worked up.” You place a hand on his cheek and close your eyes. What you see surprises you.
You see yourself standing in front of Hawks. Damn, I look pretty good. But why am I in his hallucination? You continue to watch as your hallucination self moves flirtatiously towards the hero. Ah I get it now. Mr. Hero here has a thing for me. How cute. The fake you caresses his cheek and gives him a smile. She starts to lean in and that’s when you get an idea.
Hawks can do nothing but watch as the beautiful woman in front of him gets closer and closer. The song she’s humming is relaxing to him. Something about her, something about you, is comforting to him. It feels like it’s something he’s been missing for a while. As you caress his cheek and lean in, he closes his eyes, ready to be consumed by you. All of a sudden, the heavy feeling in the atmosphere is gone and the soothing sound of your humming is too. Hawks opens his eyes and sees you standing in front of him with your hand on his cheek. “Hey birdie,” you say to him just inches away from his face.
Once Hawks realizes he can move, several feathers shoot out to point at you. “What did you do to me?” You chuckle at his reaction. “Relax, it’s just my quirk. It makes a person hallucinate anything they fear or desire, and I think I know what I saw from you.” Hawks stands there looking serious. “Aw don’t be like that, I thought you liked me.” You rub his cheek and begin humming the tune from the hallucination. He leans into your touch and his feathers start to drop. You give a mischievous smile at the results of your work.
Hawks realizes what is happening and pushes you against the wall. “Well someone likes it rough,” you say as you look up at him. He gives you a serious look. “Don’t mess with me alright? Why do I feel like this?” You roll your eyes. “It’s because you like me, hero. Or you at least feel a strong desire towards me. But I know you have a job to do. So are you gonna do it?” Hawks flinches slightly at your question and backs away from you. He knows he has a job to do but he just can’t. It’s like you’ve been clouding his mind since he first laid eyes on you and now he can’t even do his job right. Hawks ponders for a moment before looking back at you.
“I don’t know why I feel like this but I know you have something to do with it. And I know I have to bring you in but I can’t. So, you’re free to go. But I have to see you again. I think it’s the only way to satisfy this feeling inside me.” You look at Hawks, surprised for a second before smiling again. You approach him and give him a kiss on the cheek. “That works for me, Hawks. You can call me Haze by the way.” You turn to leave before he grabs your hand.
“Wait, how will I see you again,” he asks. You stop and take out your phone to give him a way to contact you. Once that is done, you make your leave. “I’ll see you around, Hawks,” you smile at him before leaving the alleyway. Hawks stands there for a moment, processing what just happened. He sighs and runs his hand through his hair. “I could be in deep shit for this.”
-----------------
That’s how you and Hawks met. It’s been almost five months since that day. Ever since then, he would periodically come to your place to “check on you”. The meetings became more frequent as time progressed and each time Hawks was more and more into you. Luckily for him, he was able to find a good excuse to tell the police when he came back with no culprit or any evidence. But it’s because of what you do that he knows he can’t have a normal relationship with you and that bothers him. He knows that he should just stop what he’s been doing if there’s no point but he can’t.
So here he is, laying next to you in your bed. Both of you naked with you cuddled against him, fast asleep. Even though he feels guilty for wanting to see you and be with you so bad, when the moment comes, everything falls perfectly into place for him. Everything feels right. For now, he won’t fight the feeling and he’ll just lay here, with you.
