Chapter Text
Charlie had been walking towards the lab for two reasons: one was to see what marvelous, state of the art investigating Sarah and the lab technicians had done to uncover the evidence that would break open the newest case which brought him to his second-will-never-tell-anyone-the-top-secret-reason he was going to the lab because it would bring on a fresh wave of good natured teasing and joshing from Jessie and Joe aka to see the Forensic Lab Supervisor Sarah Truong.
Charlie had been head over heels in love with Sarah practically the first time he had been called in to investigate an extremely brutal murder of a family of 4. It was so cliché but when Charlie first saw the beauty tending so carefully and tenderly to the body of a toddler girl he felt like time had stopped; audio and visual was muffled so that all he could see and hear was her and his feet had a mind of their own when they took him to her side.
He couldn't even remember what he said; he can only hope that it wasn't incredibly lame or made Sarah think he wasn't too bright, but it couldn't have been too bad because he had he gotten a heart warming smile, a "well Detective Hudson, the victim is identified as Annie......." and a bolt of electricity shooting through his entire body when she accidently touched his hand while showing off the knife wound to little Annie's abdomen. Even three years later Charlie could remember the exact details of his and Sarah's first meeting and still got the heart melting, stomach flipping and electricity sparks feelings whenever he and Sarah were together.
"Come on Sarah, it's just a blind date not the news that the world is ending. I know that you are Harry are perfect for each other; he's drop dead gorgeous, incredibly smart (straight A's, class valedictorian throughout high school, university and medical school and was the intern that all the doctors wanted to mentor at the prestigious hospitals he interned at before landing anyone's dream job as chief pediatric oncologist at Holy Mary Hospital), obviously loves children if he works with them daily, is active as much as possible with his high demand job and is close to his family.
He's like the perfect guy, any lady would be out of her mind not to scoop up such a perfect guy ( I am really surprised that he is still single). And it's not like you aren't hopelessly and sadly single so this might be your one and only chance to find a husband and join the happy couples club with Josh and myself. Go on this date on Friday and by Monday I expect you to come to work with a million watt smile on your face as you float on air gushing about your new boyfriend and thanking me profusely for setting you up with your soulmate, I take Ethereal Boutique gift cards as payment.
I am 100% sure that Harry and you are soulmates that I have already set up the date for Friday at 7pm at The Golden Valley Restaurant. You're most welcome in advance by the way." Virginia, one of the lab technicians had came into the lab and walked straight up to Sarah who was just getting in from the latest crime scene overloaded with boxes of evidence baggies to be analyzed and started talking about this "perfect" guy that her husband was friends with that she thought was "perfect" for her.
Sheesh you think being single was worse then being dead from the way Virginia was talking. Just because she's happily married she thinks that everyone needs to be in a relationship with someone and the way she's talking this guy seems to be too good to be true; everyone has skeletons in their closet, has flaws (no one is perfect), and who's to say I don't have plans on Friday? Ok so that might technically not be true but having no plans does give me an excuse to spend some time with my favorite doggy and his handsome, sweet, caring, easy going, fun to be around even if we don't do anything but watch Rex's doggy show, understanding, a big flirt (hopefully only with me) and generally wants justice for the victims of crimes and their families human partner.
Spending time with Charlie and Rex is what I actually want to do on my nights/weekends off, to me that is the perfect way to spend time. Not to sound childish but I really really don't want to go on this date with "Mr. Perfect", that's just a nonsense concept when I have my very own "Not Mr. Perfect but he is definitely perfect for me and that is why I fell in love with him in the first place" aka Mr. Charlie Hudson in my life.
If only I wasn't so worried about losing our extremely close friendship/partnership because he doesn't feel the same way as me and that for whatever reason a romantic relationship between Charlie and me doesn't work out so my heart is shattered into a million pieces because of. I should just women up and tell Charlie I have been in love with him since day one but unfortunately my worried, anxiety and insecurities are holding me back from getting my own happy ending with my Charlie.
