Just a dream?
The body slid easily into the wet darkness without resistance and sank deeper and deeper. Panic sprouted in her for a moment, but then she felt the gentleness of the water around her. Sari's tension dissolved and she let herself drift with the slow current. When she opened her eyes, she looked at the dark blue around her. A few rays of sunlight broke through the surface of the water but did not reach her. She felt so light and had no need to breathe. Her fingers ran through the water and little bubbles rose. She hadn't felt this relaxed in a long time.
Sari swam up a little, saw movement on the surface, and had no interest in leaving this peaceful world again. She let herself drift with the current again and closed her eyes.
She heard something fall into the water and opened her eyes, startled. It glittered slightly, bringing the sunlight down to her, and as it sank past her down into the depths, she realized it was from Din's armor. More Beskar followed and she now tried to get to the surface to find out what was going on.
But before she got there, the ocean swirled around her and thousands of bubbles rose up, blocking her view. A moment later the water had calmed down again and a hand touched her tenderly on the arm.
Slowly she looked up and saw warm, brown eyes that gazed lovingly at her. Sari ran her hand over his cheek, Din's hand caught hers and it remained in that place. Together they sank back down, leaving the surface with the brightness of the sun above them. Din gently pulled Sari into his arms and pressed his lips to hers. Gently they kissed, Sari closing her eyes and feeling warmth inside her despite the depth they were in.
When Sari opened her eyes, she noticed the brightness in her bunk, the door was open. She felt a movement in her arm and now knew that Grogu had crept in to join them. Her opposite, very close, lay Din. Through the amplifier of his helmet, she heard him breathing softly. She thought of the dream and smiled.
