"How to initiate a kiss?"
Flipping through Google, Shin searches website after website for advice. It's been a few weeks since he got together with Alice. Should they have kissed already? How should he know? He's never been in a relationship before. He's more nervous than needed. Shin's only kissed one other person, a former coworker who wanted his first kiss out of the way as much as Shin did. They didn't mean much to him, not as Alice does.
Shin doesn't want it to be awkward. He wishes he was more smooth and charming. Like Alice, who he wishes would make the first move.
Alice sits on the same couch as Shin on the other end. He flips through the pages of an old mystery novel without a care in the world. He seems utterly oblivious to Shin's plight. But the eyes that bore into his face catch Alice's attention.
"Shin, why are you staring? Do I have something on my face?!"
"Ah, no! Just lost in thought."
"Hmph, just tell me if something's wrong."
Alice turns back to his book, and Shin turns back to the Google home page. He type's a new sentence into the search bar. "How to get your boyfriend to kiss you.". The website that pulls up has very standard advice. But it's worth a try. It's standard for a reason, after all.
Step 1. Give light touches.
Shin scoot's over closer to Alice, which earns a quirked eyebrow from his boyfriend. He rests his hand on Alice's arm, but Alice doesn't seem to pay much attention to the gesture.
Step 2. Smile.
Shin smiles, and Alice puts his book down. This is it. In only two moves, he's succeeded in his plot. He's finally getting the kiss he's wanted-
"What are you doing, weirdo?! Did something happen that my supreme hearing missed?"
Step 3. Stare at his lips.
Instead of giving a response, Shin glance's towards Alice's lips and back up his eyes. He starts to lean in, waiting for Alice's lips to meet his own-
"EGH, WHAT'S ON MY FACE THAT's SO AWFUL YOU CAN'T EVEN SPEAK ON IT?!"
Alice jerks off the couch and over to their mirror-like he's on fire. Shin nearly tips over with the loss of the arm he was using to balance.
"What the hell...there's nothing on your face! I just wanted to-"
"What's the meaning of this?! Gah! I understand! You're playing a prank, are you Shin? Mwhaha, but my quick mind caught on before you succeeded...wait, did I ruin your fun?! Rest assured, it's not your fault. My wits are just too quick."
Step 4: Realize the steps presented in an internet article aren't always practical to real-life situations.
"No! Ahaha, it's just...don't you think...urk why is this so difficult? Most couples have kissed by now, right?"
"..."
"..."
"Is THAT why you keep staring?! My word!!! You should have just asked."
There's a faint blush on Alice's check's that Shin's never seen before. He's always seemed so confident. It's...charming to see Alice so flustered. As long as he stays focused on Alice's face, he can ignore how hot his face feels. It only gets redder as Alice moves closer, staring at Shin's lips. He brushes the extra hair from Shin's face with care.
"May I kiss you, Shin Tsukimi?"
"Yeah! Just go for it, will you? You're making me nervous."
Alice leans in, and Shin meets him in the middle. The kiss is awkward but nice. It's comfortable and safe, filled with love and admiration. Alice hold's his face and strokes his cheek with his thumb, never breaking the kiss. He's never felt so loved. Shin throws his arms around Alice's neck, pulling him close as possible. He wants to keep holding Alice like this.
After a few more seconds, the kiss breaks. Shin is starstruck. He stares dumbfounded for words. Alice is quiet to an unusual degree as a smile break's across his face. He's such a dork. That's why Shin loves him.
"That was very adequate, Shin, Mwhah we must try again!"
"Only adequate, huh?"
"It was a strong 8. It's nothing to be ashamed of. It only leaves more room for practice."
Alice has an odd way of flirting. But it's part of his charm. And who is Shin to judge? He looks on Google for examples on how to flirt.
"Alice, you're one of a kind."
"You're one to talk. You beanie-wearing rascal."
