Work Text:
“Good morning, class! I’m your new science teacher, Sou Hiyori! I’m so excited to meet you all! If you ever need anything from me, just ask!”
The strange green-haired man smiled widely from his podium. For some reason, there seemed to be something off about him, Shin thought. Their previous science teacher, Hasegawa-sensei, had suddenly disappeared without a trace. And now this man had been his replacement...He surely seemed enthusiastic about his job, but something about him was very unnerving...But maybe Shin was just overthinking it. He was a naturally anxious person, so surely he must have just been shaken up by the sudden change in his school life. Hiyori-sensei must be a fine person, right?
Over the next few weeks, Shin had started to get used to this lively new instructor. The man was certainly the most fun-loving teacher in the school, always cracking jokes and laughing at them as if they weren’t his own. He seemed to have somewhat of an obsession with anatomy, often sprinkling information about how different injuries affect the body into his lectures. Most of these tangents were related to incidents on the news, but some of them seem to have had no source at all besides his own imagination. The issue with this was that the incidents he liked to describe were commonly very gory and horrible for all parties involved. It made one worry about his mental health. Shin always felt on edge when he heard those stories...he was too faint-of-heart for them…
That wasn’t the only odd thing Shin noticed, though. For some reason, Hiyori-sensei seemed to have taken a liking to him in particular, and he had no idea why. So many times now, he had been sitting and listening to the lecture when Hiyori-sensei would abruptly stop and blurt out, “Tsukimi-kun!” Every time it happened, he felt himself jolt in surprise. He could have sworn Hiyori-sensei was laughing at him when it happened...but why would he do that…? The sudden call to attention was always followed by a question. Occasionally, it would be a comprehension question related to the lecture. But most of the time, it was a random science trivia question he seemed to expect Shin to know the answer to. Almost always, he had no clue what the correct answer was, and he always felt so embarrassed when he was corrected...especially when Hiyori-sensei said things like “Aw, sooo close!” or “Not quite!” in that sing-song voice of his. Those moments had really stuck in Shin’s memories because of how ashamed he felt. As a result of this, he had now internally memorized information like how high fleas could jump and where the largest crater on Earth was.
This had gone on for quite a while, but Shin could never get used to it...It was as though Hiyori-sensei always knew how to shake him up. One evening, as Shin had finished packing up and was about to head home, he heard that familiar voice call him from the hallway. “Ah, Tsukimi-kun! Could you come into the teachers’ room for a minute? I have something I need to talk to you about.” He turned around nervously to see Hiyori-sensei smiling at him expectantly. He meekly followed him to his desk. Hiyori pulled a chair up to the desk and motioned for Shin to sit in it. Shin sat down, nervously avoiding eye contact. Something about Hiyori-sensei was just...so unsettling...he didn’t like to look into his eyes. “S-so...um...what did you want to talk to me about, Sensei?” he murmured softly.
“Well, you’re quite the special pupil, Tsukimi-kun,” Hiyori declared boldly. “O-oh...am I?” Shin asked, unsure of whether the phrase ‘special pupil’ was a good or bad thing. “Yes! I think you’re a very bright boy~” Shin began to blush at the sudden praise. For all the times Hiyori-sensei had randomly questioned his intelligence, this was quite unexpected. “So, well...I need someone to help me with my lesson plans for next week, and I think you’d be the perfect candidate! You always try your very best in class...and you’re such a nice, quiet student...I’d love for your assistance! So, could you stay after school tomorrow to help me out? I know you aren’t in any clubs, and I could make it worth your while...of course, I don’t know if you have a job or obligations at home, but I wanted to bring it up in case you had the time! So, what do you say?” Shin was speechless at first. Hiyori-sensei wanted him to help with lesson plans? He was really that special? Shin had always thought of himself as such an average student, but now he was met with so much commendation...He didn’t have anything he needed to do after school this week, so…”O-okay! I’ll do it!” He was determined to make Hiyori-sensei proud. “Wonderful! Well then, I’ll be waiting for you here tomorrow. You’re free to go now. I’m looking forward to having your assistance!” He grinned very widely, clearly thrilled with Shin’s acceptance. Shin smiled a bit on his way home...Hiyori-sensei might have been a bit scary, but he had told Shin how great he was...it made him feel so important…
The next evening came quickly for Shin, who had been anxiously anticipating it since yesterday. He bowed at Hiyori’s desk respectfully. “Sensei...I’m ready to help you! So...what can I do?” Hiyori’s eyes seemed to light up when Shin bowed for him. He chuckled and stood up. “Oh, we’re not working in here, actually! I got permission to use an empty classroom so we can have some nice peace and quiet! Come with me, we’re going to use room 3-C!” When they had reached the room, Hiyori walked in and stood by the doorway until Shin entered. As soon as he did, he locked the room from the inside. “U-um...why did you lock the door, Sensei?” Shin asked, confused. “Oh, just so we don’t get disturbed at all! I have such a hard time focusing when I think people might come around and distract me...I’m sorry if it makes you uncomfortable!” Shin shook his head. “It’s okay, Sensei...I don’t mind…”
Hiyori sat down at one of the desks and patted the next one over. “Ah...um...do you...want me to sit next to you?” Shin was nervous…”Yes, of course. Just relax, okay? Right now, you and I are equals!” Shin sat down, unable to stop the feeling that this was all too unusual...he never thought he would be sitting next to one of his teachers at desks like this...He forced himself to look up at Hiyori-sensei, who had placed a folder on the desk and was sorting through the papers inside. He had never noticed it before, but Hiyori really did look quite young...if Shin didn’t know any better, he might even have thought that he has a fellow student instead of a teacher. And he was actually quite handsome...if he was Shin’s age, Shin could even see himself getting a crush on him…
“Okay! Let’s get started!” Shin was forced out of his trance by Hiyori’s cheerful voice. He placed a sheet of notebook paper in front of Shin. “I really want to tie this note into the lesson tomorrow, but I’m not sure how to make it sound natural. What do you think?” Shin read over the note carefully. It...described what happened to the human body if blood was slowly drained out of it...Shin felt a chill down his spine as he read it. “This is...um...really something, Sensei...why do you want to bring it up in class?” Hiyori’s smile twisted eerily. “Ahaha...the human body is just so intriguing, isn’t it? There are so many different circumstances which are fatal to it...our existences are so very fragile...learning what a person’s last moments are like is one of the most fascinating topics there is…” Shin’s heart began to pound. What Hiyori-sensei had just said had sounded very creepy...he suddenly felt as though he was in danger. He began to stand up, but as he did, he was swiftly pulled back down into his seat by Hiyori’s strong grip on his wrist. “Oh, relax, will you? People always look at me so apprehensively when I tell them what my favorite thing to study is...I’m just empathetic for the dead. Is that really so hard to understand?” Shin’s heart was still racing, but he realized Hiyori-sensei didn’t seem to pose an immediate threat, so he took a deep breath. “Um...okay...I’m sorry for overreacting, sir…” Hiyori’s expression softened and he laughed. “Ahaha, it’s no problem. I just get so frustrated when people judge me like that, you know? So anyway...what do you think we should do about this?”
Ultimately, Shin was able to come up with a way to include the blood draining into Hiyori’s lesson plan by discussing anemia. Hiyori had praised him tremendously for this, and even though he had felt scared earlier, he was proud that his suggestion was useful. Once they were done, Hiyori packed his things up and walked Shin to the classroom door. “Thank you so much, Tsukimi-kun! You’re a lifesaver! I still have some other plans I need to adjust, so could you maybe come back tomorrow? I’ll reward you for it!” Shin was hesitant to accept...but he realized he was being judgmental. Hiyori-sensei was so nice to him...he shouldn’t be wary of him just because he had some eccentric interests...”Sure. I’d be glad to.” Hiyori beamed at him and thanked him again.
The next day, Hiyori presented another list of bizarre and disturbing topics he wanted to discuss, including flowers growing out of the human body while it was still alive. Shin did his best to tie them into the lesson plans Hiyori had laid out and received seemingly endless praise for it. He had felt so amazing being praised like that...he relished every second of it. As he was writing down his ideas, he felt the sudden warm touch of a hand upon his own. “A-ah!” He shuddered. “S-Sensei...what are you doing…?” He was even more surprised when Hiyori interlocked their fingers. “Ahaha...you’ve been so helpful to me, Tsukimi-kun...you’re wonderful…” He rubbed their hands together even more. Shin’s face went red, and he tried to snatch his hand away, but Hiyori wouldn’t let him. “No no, don’t do that...you don’t really want me to stop, do you?” He grasped Shin’s hand tightly and stared into his eyes. “Aren’t you having fun with me...Shin-kun~?” The way he had suddenly spoken his student’s first name so sensually made him feel like he was melting. “A-ah...Sensei...you can’t...do that…” Shin sputtered out in protest. “Why not? Didn’t I tell you yesterday, Shin-kun? We’re equals in this room together, locked away from everyone else...just treat me like your friend, okay?” Shin, unable to come up with any other words of protest, nodded with his eyes wide.
Hiyori kept his hand interlocked with Shin’s the rest of the time Shin had helped him. When they were done, he once again requested further assistance again tomorrow. Shin blushed and agreed, unable to disobey his teacher’s, no...his friend’s request.
The process continued, Shin enabling Hiyori to include increasingly disturbing and demented topics in his lectures. And Hiyori continued to be increasingly friendly with him. The next time, he put their chairs together so their thighs were touching. The time after that, he leaned himself on Shin’s side. After that, he wrapped his arm around Shin’s waist. And he had asked Shin to stop calling him Sensei and call him Hiyori-kun instead.
Finally, on Saturday evening, Hiyori tasked Shin with the last of his assignments. The things written in these notes were extremely violent and terrifying. Shin steeled himself and did his best despite the horrifying subject matter. When he was done, Hiyori looked at him with something new in his eyes that Shin had never seen before. “You’re amazing, Shin~” he sighed out in a tone that could only be described as overtly sexual. Shin’s face went red. He hadn’t even bothered to use an honorific this time...Hiyori leaned in closer to him until their noses were touching. Shin was so entranced he couldn’t even move, his eyes locked on Hiyori’s beautiful, terrifying visage. Hiyori slowly tilted his head, grabbing Shin’s in turn and forcing their lips together. He held that passionate kiss so long Shin felt himself running out of air. When Hiyori finally let him go, he gasped to catch his breath. “Ah...Hiyori-kun….I…” Hiyori held his hand and frowned. He whispered into Shin’s ear, “Call me Sou….” Shin could barely believe it...but regardless, he obliged. “S-Sou…” he stuttered out. Hiyori smiled at this. “You’re such a good boy, Shin...I’ve taught you well. That kiss was your reward~ Did you enjoy it?” Shin nodded. “I...I...did…” Hiyori gently ran his fingers through Shin’s hair. “That’s wonderful...I’m glad you liked it…”
With that, he separated from him and walked to the door, taking the key out of his pocket and unlocking it. Just like that, Hiyori had returned to his usual responsible teacher demeanor. “Okay, Tsukimi-kun! Thanks so much for your help! You’re free to go now…” As soon as he said that, Shin was faced with the reality of the situation he was in. He had just...made out with his teacher in an empty classroom...it was so wrong...He thought about just how much trouble the both of them would get in if anyone found out. And yet….it had felt so good...his heart raced, his mind in shambles. What had he just done…? “Hello, Tsukimi-kun? Could you please come here so I can lock up the room? I need to head home soon…” Hiyori’s call had forced him to accept the situation and get moving. Still dazed, he followed Hiyori’s cue and exited the classroom. The classroom was locked again, this time from the outside. “There we go! All done! You can go home now!” Needing to clear his head, Shin started to walk away when Hiyori stopped him. “Oh, one more thing, Tsukimi-kun! It’s not much...I promise!” Shin turned around and let Hiyori approach him. He whispered into Shin’s ear.
“I’ll see you after school on Monday, Shin...”
