Work Text:
Orange sunlight only manages to trickle meagerly over their intertwined forms lying in the hammock. Night seems to be approaching, ever so slowly.
“It’s getting a little chilly, isn’t it?” Doppo hushedly asks.
“Mm,” is Riou’s only response. He presses their bodies closer together and, yes, he is a warm big body and Doppo loves it, but that doesn’t stop him from playfully swatting at Riou’s shoulder.
“You’re falling asleep!” Doppo says exasperatedly with a chuckle. The corners of Riou’s lips turn up, but his eyes remain closed.
“Yeah, asleep with you. A fine way to spend a day, I’d say,” he asserts.
Doppo smiles bashfully. “I agree...but it’s night now. We should take this to inside the tent, that would be better,” he protests as Riou slings a strong arm over Doppo’s arm.
“Come onnnnn,” Doppo pleads, and Riou agrees, planting a kiss on Doppo’s closeby forehead, opening his eyes, and shifting to a sitting position on the hammock. Twilight colours his rough-hewn features.
“I suppose we could take this to inside the tent.”
He makes a motion to start getting up out of the hammock at the very same time that Doppo lets out a small gasp and touches Riou’s arm.
Riou doesn’t have to ask to know what caused Doppo’s surprise. He follows his line of sight, Doppo’s eyes full of wonder, up to the sky, anyway. There, in the purplish expanse, is a smattering of bright white stars. He doesn’t suppose most of the city-dwellers get to see much of that on a night-to-night basis.
Doppo’s eyes and face really say it all. Riou feels his cheeks warm.
A weight around Doppo’s shoulders, and Doppo realizes it’s Riou’s black coat, placed around him.
“Wait right here and I’ll get a telescope for us.” Riou smiles.
