He fell in love with them like a rainstorm.
Their first meeting was amid the cherry blossoms. One look and he knew something was there, like when the first few droplets fall from the sky but when you look around, it’s barely a drizzle.
It was not love at first sight, but the rumblings of his heart moved him enough to call out to them.
Slowly, steadily, the raindrops fell, gathering in a bucket in his heart.
A pause when he touches their face backstage. A breath he takes when he watches them step in front of the crowd. A smile they flash towards him when they spot him in a sea of school girls.
A soft rumble of thunder too far away for him to make it out clearly.
It took him over a year to figure out what that something was. A blunt observation from a classmate left a crack in the dam, and it took three more days after that before the structure broke. All the droplets of water that he had been collecting came crashing in, palpable enough for him to drown in them.
Now, these soft moments were punctuated by lightning bolts. Yuu was a storm, shaking and blinding his heart. His prior ignorance was a weak umbrella on a windy day and now he had no choice but to stay put, pelted by the rain, swayed by their devotion, soaked head-to-toe in yearning.
He fell in love with them slowly, then all at once.
