Work Text:
If he would have known the state his boyfriend was in before heading over to his house, Josuke might have considered postponing his visit. To put it simply, Rohan was drunk… ridiculously drunk, all because he claimed to need to know exactly how much alcohol he needed to consume in order to start feeling it. The things he did for his manga were often concerning, and this seemed quite innocent in comparison. But still…
It seemed he had gone a few cups over, though, considering the fact that he was being this clingy. Josuke really didn’t mind it. Rohan could be real cute when he was drunk and much more affectionate than normal, which he actually really liked. As if on cue, the grip on his arm tightened and Rohan hid his face behind his shoulder. “Josuke…” Rohan started, peeking up at him, while half his face was still hidden from his view.
“What is it, babe?” he asked, turning his head in order to press a soft kiss on Rohan’s forehead.
Rohan’s cheeks turned a light shade of pink at the small display of affection and he hid his face again, though Josuke noticed the small smile on his face before he did so. “Am I a bad boyfriend?”
Josuke looked at Rohan with a lopsided grin, taking the question as nothing more than a joke. There was no way in hell that Rohan thought of himself as anything less than perfect. Sure, he could be a huge pain in the ass sometimes, but that didn’t make him anything anywhere near a bad boyfriend. “Yeah, definitely,” he said with a small sigh, playing along with whatever it was that his boyfriend was currently getting at. He crossed his arms over his chest as best as he could in their current position, being careful not to drag Rohan along with him. “The absolute worst boyfriend in the whole world.”
As soon as Rohan pulled himself off his arm, Josuke braced himself for a slight slap or something of the sort. Rohan had surely not expected that reply when he had asked the question. When the slap didn’t come, Josuke glanced over at his boyfriend, now a considerable distance from him on the couch. He felt something pierce through his heart at the way Rohan was looking at the floor. His eyes were teary and he looked just about ready to burst out crying. Was he… actually sad?
“I knew it…” Rohan whispered, his voice cracking about halfway through.
Before he could say absolutely anything else, Josuke shook his head and held up his hands in front of him. “No. Rohan, babe, no. I was kidding!” he quickly clarified, a small frown forming on his face at seeing the mangaka so affected by his little joke. “You’re such a good boyfriend, Rohan. Jeez. I didn’t think you were asking seriously.”
Rohan shook his head, gaze still locked on to the floor. “Don’t you lie to me, Higashikata.” He finally looked up at Josuke, lips curled down into a bitter frown. “I know I’m not… very affectionate or the most attentive boyfriend… or, well, easy to deal with, for that matter. While you’re… such a sweet guy, you give so much. You could definitely find someone else… someone that matches your grand romantic gestures with their own.”
“Come here, dummy,” Josuke said with a small smile on his lips, patting his lap. Despite being as drunk as he was, Rohan did not budge, choosing instead to remain on his side of the couch. Josuke rolled his eyes, grabbing ahold of the mangaka and pulling him onto his lap, undeterred by his mild protests.
Josuke turned Rohan so that they were facing each other, tucking a strand of his hair behind his ears. His boyfriend still looked plenty grumpy and not at all convinced of Josuke’s words. “Listen carefully, babe, alright?” Josuke asked, pressing a soft kiss to the mangaka’s cheek. “You are the most wonderful person I’ve ever met,” he paused, noting with a smile that Rohan’s cheeks had regained their pink tint from earlier. “Yeah, we might bicker a lot sometimes and you’re not the most affectionate guy out there… but there’s literally no one I’d rather be dating in this whole wide world, you wanna know why?”
Rohan stared at him intently, tilting his head to the side just a little. “Why?”
“Because you’re my other half, Rohan.” Josuke smiled at the deep blush that settled on his boyfriend’s face at those words. “Neither of us are perfect, obviously… but, I honestly think that we may be exactly what each other needs. We compliment each other, like, I don’t know, like yin and yang I guess. In short, we make each other better people, babe,” he paused, wrapping his arms around him just a smidge tighter. “Not to mention that you’re literally the most amazing, dedicated and gorgeous person I have ever met.”
Instead of replying, Rohan pressed their lips together in a sweet kiss. Josuke couldn’t help but smile against his lips as he eagerly reciprocated the gesture. Rohan, as expected, tasted of alcohol and sweetness, but Josuke didn’t particularly mind. “You're such an idiot,” Rohan said as soon as they pulled away, looking off into the side, seemingly unable to meet Josuke’s eyes for a bit.
“Yeah, but I’m your idiot, aren’t I?” Josuke said, unable to stop himself from making the same silly comment he always did in these situations.
Rohan finally turned to face him with a tiny smile on his lips. He shook his head. “I love you, Josuke. I love you so much, you stupid brat.”
“Yeah, yeah. I love you too, babe.” Josuke placed another soft kiss on his boyfriend’s forehead. “Now, come on. Let’s go get you some water before you pass out, yeah?”
Rohan shook his head quickly, latching on to Josuke as hard as he could. “No. Let me nap here. You’re comfy.”
Josuke sighed. “Only for a little while.”
