Dance for Me

Summary:

If there was one thing Jimin was good at, it was dancing. He spent hours beyond his counting in the studio practising, perfecting routines. It was his passion, his reason for living. He never thought that his dancing would become the reasons for someone’s obsession with him. By the time he realized, it was too late.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Collapsing on the floor, Jimin was spread out like a starfish, sweaty and gross from the last five hours of dancing. His legs were begging him to stop, to call it a day, but Jimin’s mind had other plans. There was no way he was going home without perfecting this solo.

He still couldn’t believe he was given a whole five-minute solo in their upcoming tour. He was so excited; all the members were for him. He couldn’t let them down. They depended on him. The routine had to be exactly five minutes. He could choose any style or type of dance he wanted, any music he wanted to go with it. He had to be perfect.

The tour started in two months, it didn’t give him much time to work on a solo since they were being carted left right and centre promoting their new album; Love yourself, Epiphany. That album itself had twelve tracks, each song had its own routine they had to nail. Not to mention all the random fill-in routines they had to learn for pieces in-between songs and set changes and rehearsals of their older songs. Having to make on his own solo was the cherry on the top he easily could have passed to Hoseok, who didn’t get a solo this tour. Not that Hoseok minded, his hyung had been happy for him.

Jimin had barely been on the floor for three minutes before he stood up and restarted the music. He and Namjoon had been working on a melody and remix for his solo. It turned out pretty good, probably because Namjoon had done most of the work. The Bangtan leader had worked his magic and incorporated exactly what Jimin had wanted for beats and mood.

He had decided on a contemporary, one sided-romance solo routine. It involved a lot of leaping and twists as well as on the floor work. But he loved it. If he could just make his body do what he invasion in his mind. Easier said than done. Maybe he was overreaching? Maybe it was too much? He wasn’t sure. All he could think of was how beautiful if he could just get it right. Then he could show army how hard he has worked for them.

As the music started, Jimin took his place, hands covering his mouth, left toe pointed, swinging out to the left wide as he moved his arms, stretching out his short body. Twisting, turning, leaping, crawling, bending, reaching. His body moving in so many ways at once. Trying to seem graceful and powerful at the same time. Emotions inside of him trying to reach the audience he envisioned in his mind. He wanted them to feel the pain in their hearts. The loneliness, the desperation, the one-sided romance he was portraying.

Before long, the music ended and Jimin was kneeling on the floor with his arms in the air. His chest heaving heavily as he tried to breath.

After a few seconds maintaining the pose, he dropped his hands to the floor, leaning over so his hot forehead was touching the cool floor.

It still wasn’t good enough. Still not powerful enough.

He was so tired. His legs shook as he tried to stand once more. Walking over the to the stereo, he looped the song again, practising it over and over. He just wanted to get it right.

He had lost track of just how many times he had replayed this song, but at some point, the music stopped, and he slipped, falling to the floor as he made a mistake.

“Yah!” Jimin snapped as he looked towards the stereo seeing Hoseok.

“It’s time to go,” the elder said as he walked over towards Jimin’s bag that was at the back of the room. He gathered the stuff that was around it, stuffing it into the bag as Jimin struggled to stand.

“I’m not done,” Jimin said as he ran his hand through his sweaty hair “just a little more.”

The elder smiled petting the shorts hair “we will be back here tomorrow. Don’t worry. Besides, you were doing amazing.”

The younger pouted, he didn’t think it was worth a compliment just yet, but he wasn’t going to reject it either.

When they left the studio, Jimin hadn’t even noticed how late it had gotten. It must have been around two or three in the morning already. He was sure Jin was going to lecture him about staying so late at the studio. To a point, now he was leaving the studio, he was glad Hoseok had come and gotten him.

They entered a taxi which was waiting outside, inside the taxi, Suga was sitting on the far side of the backseats, his eyes closed meaning he was probably already asleep.

Hoseok had probably come just to get Suga who had been working in the music studio in the floor above Jimin’s dance studio. That made a bit more sense as to why Hoseok would be here so late at night.

It wasn’t long until they arrived at the dorm. Inside Jimin could see a few lights on. He just hoped Jin was asleep. Hoseok carried Suga in since the rapper was too tired to walk. He wished someone was able to carry him in like that. His legs were like jelly now he had stopped dancing and given them a little time to rest.

Tomorrow he could tell his body was going to feel like hell. He wasn’t looking forward to it.

As they approached the door, Hoseok put Yoongi down so he could unlock it. “Don’t worry, Chim. Jin went to bed hours ago.”

was all Thank god, Jimin could think to that. Shower. Bed. That’s all he wanted right now. A lecture was just unnecessary.

“Thanks for coming to get me,” Jimin said as he entered the dorm, kicking off his shoes at the entrance.

“Anytime. Still, you and Suga promised you’d be home by midnight. I was getting worried when neither of you called. Then I find this guy sleeping on the couch in his studio,” Hoseok said as he carried his boyfriend into the dorm.

“Sorry. I will do better next time,” Jimin beamed brightly before walking off to have a shower and get this sweat off his body.
