Chapter Text
Sleep was a hard concept for Shinsou Hitoshi, anyone who saw him worried weather he got sleep or not. It did get better overtime when he figured out that Sleep came easier to him sleeping with someone near him and his lover was more than happy to provide.
Sero Hanta was a strange person, always mostly smiles and positive energy in public but vulnerable in private, being to plain and easy to forget was usually a constant in the others mind which Hitoshi was more than happy to get rid of by squishing his boyfriends face in between his hands and pressing endless kissing, telling him how great of a person Sero was, and how much he'd helped him as well. He loved the man and he knew Sero knew that even though he himself wasn't the most vocal about it or a lot of things. He let his actions show it more than words, even during sex where he was pinned down with Sero on top of him, he conveyed what he wanted with actions, pulling the taller male close moans in his ear for more.
Regardless of how much comfort sleeping next to Sero brought Hitoshi, even that became hard for him, the bags under his eyes darkening yet again.
There was certainly nothing wrong with his boyfriend, laying next to him with the long arms around his bulky form was still the best feeling but it was the damn nightmares that kept him up, and when it wasn't nightmare it was the dreams that seemed to be a close second that had him loose sleep. It frustrated him beyond belief.
Hitoshi left the shower with a sigh and a towel around his head as he dried his hair up and looked around the quiet and empty bedroom, Sero had called him earlier telling him he'd be staying at the university for the night to finish up some group work that was due soon with Kirishima, that meant he wouldn't be home till tomorrow. Quietly Hitoshi let himself fall on the bed, moving the blanket over his body as he curled in under it, it felt empty.
Sleep eventually over took him.
When Hitoshi opened his eyes he wasn't in his bed, but on a forest floor instead. He sat up and looked around running a hand through his Mohawk he let out a shaky sigh,
"Not again-" was all that left him as he picked himself off the ground teeth grit as he made his way in a random direction, feeling something pulling him towards the path. He was aware this was the same recurring nightmare he had been having for a week. The longer he stayed in one place the worse it would get, he had already seen his lover dead, his friends and fathers tortured while he watched he didn't want to see what this place would show if he didn't keep moving.
The forest seemed to disperse as he kept going, urgency in his steps, he didn't know how long he had to keep going till he woke up. It was when the forest turned into a familiar city. He was in a familiar alley way, the one right next to his apartment. Hitoshi looked up at what was the bedroom window longingly, he didn't go in as much at the thought was tempting, there was still something pulling him somewhere, he decided to follow.
That's when he heard the voice, "don't listen to it-" snapping his head in the direction of the voice Hitoshi saw nothing and for a moment he felt the pull sever from him before tugging him back, except this time he didn't want to follow it. That made Hitoshi gulp he had to keep moving though, picking up his feet against his will he followed.
"Don't follow please... it will hurt you!" The voice sounded again and this time Hitoshi spoke up too,
"What are you talking about-"
"Ah! You can actually hear me! Does that mean you know you're in your head??"
"Its not that hard not to know I've been coming here for a week now... what is all this? Why the hell am I talking to a damn voice in my head??" Hitoshi spoke in a frustrated groan, taking his time with shorter steps now but not stopping none the less,
"I'm not a voice in your head silly! My name is Denki and you aaare-?"
"Shinsou.... Hitoshi Shinsou-"
"Hitoshi! Nice to meet you I was sent here by the big guy down there to make sure whatever's here doesn't end up eating you!"
"Big guy down where?? Eat me?? What the fuck- what are you even and what is happening-?"
"I- shit it knows I'm here... Hitoshi you need to wake up!"
The voice called urgently and he felt something on his lips, no the something was another mouth that pressed against his lips, soft, different from what he was used to, but it felt right. That's when his eyes opened, panting softly, body shivering under the blanket as he slowly sat up with a groggy groan,
"What the fuck-" he mumbled and looked around before the memories of his dream came back to him, a hand went up to trace his fingers on his lips, it had felt so real but it simply couldn't have been anything but something from his imagination, he didn't want to think too hard on it slowly sliding off of bed he picked up one of the hoodies that he was pretty sure belonged to Sero and decided to walk out, he was out of smokes.
As Hitoshi stepped out the door to his apartment and made his way down after locking the door, he felt like he was being followed, and stopped to look around for a second only to confirm he was alone and kept heading to his destination, the only place open at 3 in the morning, the convenient store. It was then he heard the familiar voice right next to him,
"So where are we headed at such a cheerful hour?~" there was that sing song tone he had heard in his dream when the voice introduced himself, though this time it wasn't just a voice but a short... very short blonde male, a strange lightning bold in his hair along with the tiniest black horns and wings he'd seen. A gasp left the purple haired male and he jumped to the side back pressed against the wall.
The blonde was dressed in a formal attire with a red shirt, with the vest, pants and loosely tied tie being black. It was strange but Hitoshi found himself thinking that the voice suited it's owner, he shook his head clear of thoughts and finally spoke,
"What the fuck-" he repeated for the umpteenth time that day, "y... you're real- but?? How... You- You were just a voice in my head-"
The blonde, who Hitoshi remembered to be named Denki, just giggled and moved closer to the sleep deprived male placing his hands on the others chest, "I don't know dude this feels pretty real hm?~" Denki cocked his head to the side in a grin noticing Hitoshi back up even more before moving back to finally give him room to breathe, "I told you I was sent to help you- you aren't the only one stuck with the dreams but you're the one I was assigned to so here I am! Anyway..."
Shinsou was quiet for the longest time blanking out on what the other was saying, registering what all had happened, from the dreams, the nightmares and the person... No the one in front of him was not a person, but whatever he was right now he was too tired to comprehend or even freak out. Not responding to what Denki had said Shinsou just sighed and looked to the side,
".... Alcohol... need cigarettes and a drink-" he just mumbled to himself and began walking not noticing Denki blink and stop speaking mid sentence and follow him,
"Hey get back here! Where are you going-" came the whine but followed him anyway, he couldn't stay away from Shinsou for too long without growing weak, he cursed the little pact they had made- with out Shinsou being aware off it.... Oh well I'll tell him when it's important, Denki thought attempting to catch up with the others long legs.
Arriving at the store he walked in and picked up a few cans of cheap beer and went to the counter asking for a pack of his brand of cigarettes, his eyes falling at the blonde while the cashier scanned his items. Denki had been following him rather closely, one of his fingers hooked into one of Shinsou's belt loops on the pants he wore to keep from straying too far. A tired eyebrow raised and he looked towards the cashier then back at Denki and at the cashier again when he spoke, the man behind the counter didn't seem to notice the blonde at all, that had Shinsou furrow his brow slightly as he paid for his items, before slowly walking out still trying to make sense of everything especially on his walk home, quietly puffing one of the cigarettes while ignoring the gold eyes on him.
Nothing made sense, he gave up in the end as he got too the apartment and drank. What ever was going on Shinsou hoped it went away soon enough no that he was even hallucinating. He sat back on the couch an open can in one hand and his phone in the other. Shinsou was glad he didn't have class that day it had been by far the most exhausting, scrolling through random sites and social media he passed time silently before moving to a game on his phone, tapping away and not noticing the door swing open and close till he heard a familiar voice speak up,
"I'm home~" It was soft as if it didn't want to wake up anyone still sleeping. Shinsou shifted tired eyes to look at the owner of the voice with the smallest smile that was almost hard to miss compared to his lovers, who walked over after placing his bags down.
That's when his phone fell on his face having forgotten to lower it when Sero crouched down on the floor near where the others head lay, earning a laugh from his lover as Shinsou grumbled and rubbed his nose with a silent curse,
"Good to see you're excited to see me too kitty cat~" Sero's voice cooed and Shinsou felt soft lips on the tip of his nose where the phone had fallen, which earned a chuckle from the purple haired male,
"Shut up~" he mumbled and gave a tired grin with a yawn. Sero letting out a sigh his own smile falling into an expression of concern,
"Still having trouble sleeping?" He asked and Shinsou just shrugged only to have Sero's concerned face turn stern before Shinsou caved in with a grunt of his own sitting up,
"I guess it's been bothering me as of recently..." he admitted and ran his fingers through the shaved part of his head and let his eyes dart around the room, frowning when there was no sign of the blonde in fact he just noticed that it had gotten rather quiet the moment Shinsou had entered the apartment, strange, he thought.
His attention went back to Sero when he felt a tug at his arm, looking up at his ridiculously tall boyfriend he raised a brow getting up slowly to let Sero steer him into one of the rooms that held a bigger bed for both of them to share,
"Let's sleep come on you look like death and I don't mean your dad!" Sero huffed and slunk out of the jeans he wore, making sure Shinsou laid down before doing the same himself, pulling the other close to himself under the cover, kissing his forehead again smiling to himself when he heard a sleepy hum from Shinsou who's eyelids began feeling empty almost immediately.
After the night he had and the light alcohol he had consumed this was something he definitely needed.
Sleep in the comfort of a familiar and safe presence.
