Chapter Text
Jungkook and Yoongi have grown closer over the past year since they started living together throughout university. Since the beginning, Jungkook’s feelings for the older male have always existed. He looks out for him and wants to spend as much time as he can with him.
Yet, he notices that lately Yoongi has been avoiding him in their shared apartment. He doesn’t want to hang out as often or when they do he’s very fidgety. Jungkook is worried that he must’ve done something wrong to the elder.
Yoongi got home early from work and opens their apartment door. He takes off his shoes and throws his keys on the counter.
“Jungkook’s probably out again.” Yoongi sighs disappointedly.
Yoongi misses the younger male more than he could ever admit. He knows he shouldn’t be ignoring Jungkook, but he doesn’t want him to find out why.
‘It’s only getting harder and harder to keep it from him...’ Yoongi groans internally.
He looks around and begins to feel his mind slip hazily.
“I mean he’s not here and probably won’t be back until, later right? I... I want to color. A-And I want my paci...” Yoongi murmurs softly.
He quietly goes into his room and takes off his ripped jeans and black hoodie. He slipped on a blue oversized sweater and tight black shorts. Yoongi slides a white colored box out from under his bed and opens it gently.
He has two coloring books, a pack of 64 assorted crayola crayons, stuffed animals, and pastel colored pacifiers. Yoongi had a blue, purple, and green pacifier. He was especially fond of the blue one. The blonde-haired male reaches for it happily and takes out his crayons and three random coloring books. He also grabs his longtime favorite plush giraffe named “Julius.”
“Don’ wanna s-sit in my room. Wanna color out in the living room. What do you think Julius?” Yoongi asks his stuffie with a precious, little lisp.
He makes the small, pale yellow giraffe nod its head and giggles sweetly at seeing his friend agree with him. He grabs all of his things in his arms and gently walks into the living room.
Yoongi slips fully into little space and colors a cute bear holding a honey jar without a care in the world.
“God,” Jungkook runs his two hands across his face,”I’m tired.”
Jungkook had just finished his dance class with his friends Jimin and Hoseok. It was extremely grueling since Hobi wanted to stay after with Jimin and him to get started on their solo piece together. They were going to have some huge showcase six months from now and Hobi excitedly asked if they could start brainstorming their choreography. Jungkook didn’t want to rain on his parade so he agreed without complaint.
Jungkook also decided to stop by Yoongi and his’ favorite restaurant to get lamb skewers. He wants to surprise the older male and give him a reason to spend time with him. Jungkook missed his hyung but he didn’t want to bother him by telling him so.
“Hopefully hyung is home... I want to eat these with him while they’re still warm.” Jungkook has a soft smile on his face.
He puts the bag of food down on the ground for a second to take his keys out from his pocket. Jungkook places his hand on the door to steady himself and the door pushes open softly. The younger blinks in surprise to see that the door isn’t locked nor closed fully.
‘Did I forget to lock the door on my way out or did Yoongi? Hm.’ Jungkook questions.
He grabs the food once more and he shuts the door softly. Jungkook locks the door behind him and easily slips his shoes off and touches the cool floor of their apartment. He sets their food along with his keys down on their small kitchen table. Jungkook still hasn’t called out for his hyung since he was honestly so nervous. He was about to until he heard a sweet giggle echo throughout their quiet apartment. That silenced him, and he slowly walked in the direction of the noise. The black-haired male felt a slight chill run through his body since he doesn’t recognize the sound of the voice.
‘Why are you nervous Jungkook? Don’t be afraid. Everything is fine.’ he reassures himself.
Another soft giggle resonances once more in the quiet home and Jungkook takes a deep breath. He steps into the living room and his breath is caught in his throat.
Min Yoongi is in a blue, definitely oversized sweater with some black shorts exposing his creamy legs. His legs swing up and down as he presses his yellow crayon down onto his paper methodically coloring. A baby blue pacifier is stuck in his mouth and Jungkook stares in pure shock.
‘Oh my...’ Jungkook blinks in a daze.
“Julius, didn’t I color Pooh really pretty? He looks super cute don’t you think?” Yoongi squeals cutely with a pacifier slurring his words slightly.
“H-Hyung?” Jungkook breathes in awe.
Yoongi looks slowly from the ground to see black socks paired with grey sweatpants, and a plain black t-shirt. His eyes finally trail up to a familiar, handsome looking face. Jeon Jungkook.
“Uh oh,” Yoongi exhaled shakily as his pacifier fell from his mouth,” K-Kookie found me.”
Yoongi trembles in evident shame and fear but Jungkook doesn’t run away from him. The older male has tears in his eyes and his hands turn into fists. Jungkook slowly walks up to him and the little immediately gets off his stomach. He curls himself into a ball and puts his knees up into his chest.
“N-No no no. I-I sorry p-please don’t be mad K-Kookie. Yoonie is w-weird he knows but p-please don’t hate me...” Yoongi holds himself together as his voice cracks heartbrokenly.
Jungkook feels tears collect slightly in his eyes because he sees his hyung look and sound so afraid. Not of him but as if he were scared of himself. Jungkook gets closer and sits down on his knees. He has no idea why his hyung is acting like a child but all he knows is that he wants to comfort him.
‘Treat him as if you would treat a little kid... be gentle. Don’t call him hyung. I think he’ll get even more upset. Treat him like a little brother...’ Jungkook thinks wisely.
“Hey Yoonie,” Jungkook’s voice timbers gently, “Everything’s alright. I promise. Kookie is right here. I don’t hate you. Not at all, bub.”
Yoongi brings his head out from his knees and his small, pale face is stained with tears. His cheeks red with shame and his body trembling in alarm.
“Kookie doesn’t think Yoonie is weird? He’s n-not mad at Yoonie?” Yoongi’s voice is breathy, slightly higher in pitch despite having a deeper voice.
Jungkook just stares at the smaller male and Yoongi flinches at the silence. Yoongi’s mind is trying so hard to slip back into his big headspace but this was honestly way too stressful for him. He never wanted Jungkook to find out especially on accident. Kook inches closer to him and Yoongi tries to push himself away from the younger male.
“N-No! Go way please Y-Yoonie’s so s-“ Yoongi is cut off when he feels Jungkook wrap his arms around him.
“Kookie doesn’t think you’re weird at all, Yoonie. I’m not mad at you either bub. Don’t be sorry because there’s nothing wrong with this or with you. I’m sorry for scaring and not being able to understand you. But everything’s okay. Kookie isn’t mad I promise. I care about you very much buddy.” Jungkook rubs circles into the very rigid little’s back in his arms.
Yoongi is silent for a moment. He does nothing to move and Jungkook tightens his arms a little more to comfort him. The elder continues to be stiff and that’s when Jungkook dishearteningly decides to let go.
“I-I’m sorry Yoongi. I’ll just leave you be if that’s what you want...” Jungkook clears his throat thickly.
Jungkook’s arms begin to slip away from him and finally the blonde male bawls uncontrollably. Yoongi wraps his arms around Jungkook’s strong neck. He squishes himself into the muscular young man and nuzzles his crying face into his defined chest. Kook releases the breath he didn’t know he was holding and engulfs the little in his robust arms.
“T-Thank you so much K-Kookie,” Yoongi cries in sweet relief,” Yoonie’s so happy Kookie s’not mad.”
Jungkook murmurs consoling words for who knows how long into his little hyung’s ear as he cries vigorously. Yoongi’s cries and hiccups calm down after a long while and small sniffles are all that can be heard. Yoongi takes his face out of Kook’s chest but he hangs onto him as if his life depended on it. Jungkook tries to adjust himself into a more comfortable position for the two but Yoongi whimpers unhappily.
“No let go Kookie. P-Please no let go.” Yoongi asks desperately with his adorable lisp.
Jungkook’s heart thumps at hearing Yoongi’s pleas and he tightens his arms around him.
“Okay buba, I won’t let go. I wasn’t going to, Kookie just wanted to move better so you could be more comfortable...” Jungkook reassures him kindly.
“No let go ever. Ever ever ever. Kay?” Yoongi asks with a timid sweetness.
If the younger only knew that there was a shy, hidden double meaning in his words.
Jungkook’s heart was beating loudly against his chest and he nods inaudibly.
“I swear I’ll never let you go Yoongi. I promise.” Jungkook murmurs promisingly.
Yoongi snuggles up into him and whispers such an endearing “thank you.” He holds onto Jungkook’s neck and leans back to finally stare into his face. Jungkook stares in awe at seeing Yoongi’s eyes lit up with a childlike, tender sparkle in them. His facial features so incredibly soft and a gummy smile makes its way on his face.
“Kookie, wanna color with me?” Yoongi happily asks.
“Sure bubs. Let’s color.” Jungkook smiles fondly.
Jungkook spends a good amount of time willingly coloring with Yoongi until he hears a quiet whine come from the little one. He had just finished coloring Tigger and he pushes himself up with his elbows.
“What’s wrong bud? You okay?” Jungkook asks with concern.
Yoongi has a slight pout on his pretty, pink lips and Jungkook hears his stomach growl.
“U-Um Kookie? Yoonie’s hungry. C-Can I has something to eat... p-please?” Yoongi’s cheeks began to sport a soft, red look to them.
“Of course, you can. You’re such a good little boy for asking so nicely.” Jungkook ruffles his blonde locks.
Jungkook watches Yoongi flush in a apparent happiness because he praised him.
‘He’s so cute... he’s just like a little kid.’ Jungkook fawns internally.
He gets up off the ground and his bones crack. He groans quietly and stretches once more. Yoongi tilts his head and stretches his arms out with his stuffed animal and paci in one hand.
“U-Ups? Can I has ups?” Yoongi lisps out adorably.
Jungkook gives him a warm smile and picks him up without hesitation. He puts Yoongi on his sturdy hip easily and the younger notices how light he is. Yoongi nuzzles his cheek happily into his shoulder and Jungkook smiles tranquilly.
“I actually bought lamb skewers Yoonie, but I’m not so sure if you’d want that. It’s cold so I’d have to reheat-“
“N-Nah no want lamb squewers. Want mac an’ cheese... please?” Yoongi shook his head in disagreement.
Jungkook is surprised by his choice of food but remembers that Yoongi is acting more child-like.
“Okay bud, anything you want. Thank you for telling me.” Jungkook pats Yoongi’s hip affectionately.
Yoongi squeals excitedly and snuggles more into Jungkook as much as he possibly can. The younger was honestly so happy spending time with Yoongi after two months of his hyung avoiding him like the plague.
He enters the kitchen with Yoongi and begins to set him down into a chair when a huge whimper ripples out of the little one.
“N-No down Kookie. No leave please.” Yoongi grips onto Jungkook’s shirt desperately.
“Buddy, I need to put you down, so I can cook your mac and cheese. Aren’t you hungry right?” Jungkook reminds him gently.
“Y-Yes, but I wants you Kookie. No want you to leave me. Stay with you.” Yoongi murmurs mellowly into his neck.
‘He’s absolutely adorable, I’m not leaving him. I’m just setting him down and I’ll still be in the same room with him.’ Jungkook chuckled out loud.
“Silly boy. I’m not going to leave you bubs I promise. How about this? I’ll set you down right here,” Jungkook places him on the kitchen countertop,”And you’ll be with me the whole time okay?”
Yoongi gives him an infamous gummy smile that makes Jungkook’s heart flutter.
“M-Mkay Kookie. I twust you.” Yoongi chirps contently.
Jungkook ruffles his hair fondly while getting to work to grab a small pot and a box of macaroni and cheese from the pantry. He reaches over to the sink and fills up the pot with water. He places it on the stove and turns on the heat.
“There we go. It’ll be ready soon okay? Do you wanna go back and color bub?”
Yoongi shakes his head lightly and opens his arms.
“Hugs. Wanna hug,” Yoongi makes grabby hands at him.
Jungkook gives a friendly laugh and hugs Yoongi gently. Yoongi giggles and Kook has him snug in his arms. They stay like that for a while until Yoongi gasps.
“Kookie! I wanna show you somethin’! Lookie.” Yoongi pushes a yellow, plushie giraffe into his face.
“Woah. I see him, who’s this guy? Keep telling me while I cook okay?” Jungkook turns the stove off and drains the pasta in a colander.
“H-His name’s Julius. He’s my bestest friend. I tells hims eberythin’! I got him a long times ago.” Yoongi’s lisp peaking through as he got more excited.
“He seems like such a great pal. He’s cute too. I’m glad you have a best friend like him Yoonie.” Jungkook flashes him a smile.
Yoongi is smiling ear to ear knowing Jungkook likes his giraffe. He’s telling Julius about how much Kookie likes him and that he called him cute. Jungkook quickly makes his mac and cheese and places it back on the stove.
“It’s all ready buddy. Let me just get you a plate.” Jungkook opens the cabinet above Yoongi and grabs a simple looking bowl.
“Mm... Kookie? Don’ want that.” Yoongi scrunches his nose in disapproval.
“What would you like then bub?”
“Finding Nemo. Hiding in cabi. Please?” Yoongi says cutely.
Jungkook tilts his head and looks at the bowl and puts it back. Yoongi scoots closer to him as Jungkook stretches both arms up toward the cabinet to look for his Finding Nemo theme bowl. The younger male didn’t even know he had it. While he searches, Yoongi stares up at Jungkook. Yoongi intensely scrutinizes the younger’s features as he stretches his arms over him. He watches the way Jungkook’s arms flex subtly as he focuses on looking for his bowl.
‘K-Kookie looks so strong and handsome. Like a superhero... no a pwince... no a king.’ Yoongi thinks in awe.
Jungkook finally found his Finding Nemo bowl. He also got the matching cup hidden behind all the “regular” ones and looks down at Yoongi.
“Aha’! I found it Yoon, it’s this one huh?” Jungkook said happily.
Yoongi blushes crimson and nods enthusiastically.
“U-Uh huh, is that one Kookie. Thank you.” Yoongi answers in a cute daze.
“Earth to Yoongi? Has your space shuttle landed yet? You there?” Jungkook presses two fingers on his forehead teasingly.
“Y-Yes Kookie. Yoonie still here just thinkin’. Can I eats now?” Yoongi asks sweetly.
Jungkook nodded and Yoongi automatically latched himself onto him by wrapping his legs around his waist. Jungkook used one arm to hold onto him and takes his plate and cup in the other. He sets Yoongi down in the chair with no fight this time and serves him a good amount in his bowl.
“Thank you Kookie.”
“You’re welcome bubs, what do you want to drink?”
“Owange juice! Pwease.” Yoongi says with the spoon latched between his lips.
Jungkook opens up their fridge and grabs the jug of orange juice and fills up his cup. He puts it back and sets the cup down next to Yoongi. Jungkook decides that he’ll eat later so he puts the lamb skewers in the fridge. He sits next to Yoongi as he digs in well.
“Are you eating well Yoon?” Jungkook asks with a smile on his face.
“Mhm. I likes mac an’ cheese lots. And fwench fwies too!” Yoongi states dreamily.
“I’ll remember that for next time Yoonie.” Jungkook taps on the side of his head.
Yoongi stops eating for a second and looks at him with wide, expectant eyes.
“R-Really? Kookie promises?” Yoongi murmurs timidly.
Jungkook holds his hand up in the air for Yoongi for a high five. Yoongi looks at it curiously and decides to lock their fingers together as if it were a normal occurrence. Kook flushes a little bit as his hyung holds his hand cheerfully and shakes their intertwined hands.
“Promise?” Yoongi tilts his head gently.
“Promise.” Jungkook swallows heavily.
Yoongi continues to hold his hand for the rest of dinner time. He skillfully does everything with one hand despite Jungkook’s failed attempts of persuading him to let go of his hand, so he could eat comfortably. Yoongi finishes off his orange juice with a content sigh and puts his cup in his bowl while grabbing his spoon.
“All done now Kookie. Wanna go my room now please.” Yoongi expresses blissfully with his hand still wrapped around the younger’s.
“Alright bubs. Let’s just put your stuff in the sink okay?” Jungkook states softly.
Yoongi goes hand in hand with him and puts everything in the sink. He smiles up at him and walks cutely alongside Jungkook.
“Finished. We go now?” Yoongi waits obediently.
“Yes Yoon. Let’s go to your room.”
“W-Wait don’t forget Julius!”
Jungkook takes the plushie from the kitchen table and they descend off into Yoongi’s room.
Yoongi showed Jungkook his white secret box and the younger could say that his heart melted. He was such a cutie showing him all of his things. Jungkook noticed Yoongi’s eyes drooping and he decided to ask him.
“Are you tired bubs? Do you want to sleep now?” Jungkook suggests gently.
Yoongi rubs his eyes with cute little fists and yawns sleepily.
“Kookie sleep with Yoonie. Please, please, please...” Yoongi wraps himself around Jungkook like a small vice.
Jungkook couldn’t say no to his hyung no matter how much he tried. He nods in agreement and turns to grab Yoongi in his arms.
“I got you. Let’s grab you something to sleep in yeah?” Jungkook takes Yoongi into his closet and finds an oversized shirt and some basketball shorts. Yoongi snuggles into him getting ready to fall asleep in his arms.
“C’mon buddy you gotta cooperate with me. Don’t sleep yet okay? You gotta change still.” Jungkook reminds softly.
“Kookie help?” Yoongi murmurs sleepily.
Jungkook feels his heart race and he lays Yoongi down gently. He takes his shorts first to replace them with the comfortable ones. That one he didn’t mind at all. It’s taking off the sweater is what makes him nervous.
“Kookie hurry pwease. Yoonie tired.” Yoongi slurs adorably.
Jungkook pushes his embarrassment aside and takes off the blue sweater. His creamy, smooth skin makes his face burn with chagrin and he quickly put on the huge t-shirt that swamps him.
“Thank you Kookie. Sleep with Yoonie now.” Yoongi grabs Jungkook’s arms to pull him down onto the bed.
Jungkook lays down next to him and Yoongi turns his back to his chest so he could spoon him. Jungkook wraps his arms around Yoongi’s waist comfortably.
“Night K-Kookie.” Yoongi sighs dreamily.
“Good night bubs.” Jungkook repeats softly.
Hours passed and Jungkook quietly slipped himself out of Yoongi’s room. He picks up everything including his crayons, books, and pacifier. He cleans his plates and put them back where they were. He puts all of his stuff into his hyung’s white box and he sat at the edge of his bed contemplating.
‘Now, I need to look this up. Why is hyung acting like a child?’ Jungkook thought puzzled.
After a while of countless searches, he finally found out why his hyung was acting so little. It’s simple really.
He’s a little.
Jungkook doesn’t mind that whatsoever.
There’s just one problem.
What is the man he’s so desperately in love with going to say once he regresses back?
Is he going to be upset that he took care of him? Or is he going to be mad because he found out?
He doesn’t know.
Jungkook decides to push away all of the negative thoughts trying to consume his mind and lays down next to Yoongi. He grabs him in a hug again and Yoongi cuddles up to him instinctively.
“I like you so much hyungie big or little. I just want you Min Yoongi and I want to take care of you. I never want to leave you. Never ever ever.” Jungkook ghosts his lips on the top of Yoongi’s head and falls asleep.
Yoongi wakes up alone and out of little space. He blinks sleepily and sits up in bed.
“What happened yesterday?” Yoongi whispers gruffly.
Then, he intakes a sharp breath as he recalls the events from the night before.
“No let go ever. Ever ever ever. Kay?”
“I swear I’ll never let you go Yoongi. I promise.”
“Y-Yes, but I wants you Kookie. No want you to leave me. Stay with you.”
“Silly boy. I’m not going to leave you bubs, I promise.”
“O-Oh no. He found out. Jungkookie found out. He wasn’t supposed to. How am I supposed to look at him normally?” Yoongi panics with anxiety.
Yoongi shoots up from his bed and coincidentally runs into Jungkook on the way out of his room. They fall onto the ground together.
“W-Woah. Hyung, are you okay?” Jungkook grabs his arms gently.
Yoongi’s red faced and embarrassed.
“I’m fine Kook-ah.”
They are both sitting on their shared couch waiting for someone to break the unspoken tension. Jungkook decides to be that man.
“Hyung, about yesterday...” Kook takes his bottom lip between his teeth nervously.
“I’m sorry you had to find out that way. I know I’m probably disgusting to you now. You probably want a new roommate and I get it. I-I just didn’t think things would turn out this way...” Yoongi trails off with discomfort.
“Hyung, what on earth? No! Please don’t think that. It’s okay. More than okay really.” Jungkook waves his hands in protest.
Yoongi was about to retort until Jungkook blurts out confidently.
“I promised you that I would never leave you Yoongi-hyung and I meant that. Big or little I’ll never leave you. Because you mean a lot to me hyungie. You always will.” Jungkook murmurs shyly.
The three simple words “I love you” ran through his head but he couldn’t bring himself to say them. Those words have so much impact, so much meaning, and he didn’t want to scare him away. He’d stay by his side forever even if he could never say those words to him. He could suffice with that.
Yoongi’s heart swelled with so much emotion and he put his face into his hands.
“Yoongi-hyung, I-I...” Jungkook stutters as he watches the elder tremble slightly.
Yoongi grasps the black-haired male’s hands tightly.
“I believe you, Jungkook-ah. Thank you so much for wanting to be here for hyung. Thank you, thank you, thank you.” Yoongi holds his tears back.
Jungkook allows one more thing to slip from his lips.
“C-Can I be your caregiver hyung? I know I’ll need to learn so much at first, but I promise I’ll take care of you.” Jungkook caresses his thumbs against the elder’s knuckles.
Yoongi’s eyes widen in surprise and Jungkook’s heart warms at the sight of Yoongi’s face blossoming so preciously. His eyes glow with that endearing sparkle and his gummy smile that Jungkook loves so much comes on his handsome face.
“Yes. You can take care of me Jungkookie. I trust you.” Yoongi states as he struggles to stay in his big headspace.
Jungkook has never been happier.
“Alright Yoonie. Kookie will do just that.” Jungkook promises with a huge bunny smile.
“Yay! Kookie care for me! I have someone to plays withs nows!” Yoongi jumps onto Jungkook and hugs him with all of his might.
“Yes. Yes, you do buba.” Jungkook laughs at the little’s excitement.
Yoongi squeals with exhilaration and rubs his face into Jungkook’s cheek.
Their journey is only just beginning.
