You done messed up

Summary:

There are so many faces in a club, you never know who you'll run into.

Notes:

This is a snapshot of something much bigger in my head that I had to jot down real quick. Lots of vagueness, references, and indirect character development that doesn't make sence because I'm not sure I'm ready to string this au on the general public yet.

Work Text:

The lights in the club flashed brightly above the hoard of dancing people. People that won't remeber what they did in the morning or who the talked to, who they danced with, who they took home.

It wasn't there people that Lapis was concerned about. It was the level headed ones that she feared. The one that knew limits and could remember faces and remember who they belonged to. They just might know the wrong person.

Said lights occasionally shined over the head of blue hair woman studying the faces. She was relived that she didn't recognize anyone to worry about. She checked her phone to find no knew messages but the fear, anxiousness and excitement didn't leave the forefront of her mind until her friends voice finally freed her from her thoughts.

"Lapis, you've been sitting in the booth for 20 minutes and you've only had 1 drink," Amethyst chided. She sat down in the booth at scooted closer to the middle to be next to her blue haired friend. "Don't tell me you're still worried about Peridot."

Lapis sighed and tryed to sink into the leather seat. "I can't help it. What else am I supposed to think about?"

"Lapis," Amethyst placed a hand on her shoulder, "He's just said he was going out for the night. See, nothing else, everything's fine. If you want something to worry about then just think of the babysitter burning the house down!"

"Amethyst! That's not funny!" Lapis gave her an exaperated look and ultimately started thinking of her kids and if they were still safe and sound.

The shorter woman threw her hands up in defence. "Hey, relax, you know I'm joking. Everything right in the world except you don't have enough alcohol in you. Come on, enjoy the night!"

The taller woman allowed herself to be dragged over to the bar and say down.

"Bartender, I need 3 shots of vodka, straight up," Amethyst ordered.

"Why order 3 drinks?" Lapis asked as she have a confused look towards her shorter friend.

"Duh, you're gonna have 2. You need to loosen up a bit."

Lapis thought about it for a second, maybe she did need to have a little fun. She had a few hours to spare so why not?

"Remember, I have to be home by 2."

"Yeah, yeah," Amethyst said as she waved Lapis's comment off dismissively. "Don't worry, you'll be home I plenty of time."

The drinks were poured out in front of them and Lapis immediately went for the first shot, swallowing down the burn and slightly wishing for a chaser.

She let out a harsh cough much to Amethyst's amusement. The alcohol hit her bloodstream and started to build up the tiny buzz started by her first drink.

Amethyst patted her back in a mock effort to help the mother breathe. "That's the spirit, Lapis. Come on one more while it's fresh." She picked up her own drink and held it up. "Lets toast to a good night out."

Lapis checked her phone one last time and resigned herself to enjoying night while she could by picking up her own drink and finishing the toast with Amethyst.

The night picked up from there. Amethyst pushed her to the dance floor and Lapis finally gave into the situation and enjoyed the atmosphere of the club. The beat of the music flowed through their bodies as they danced.

Those drinks with Amethyst weren't the only ones thrown her way. Being the responsible person she was she had 5 more, in between trips to the dance floor, before she was cut off for the night.

Time slipped away along with her sobriety. The faces in the club were no longer discernable to Lapis, all they had become were faceless bodies facing around her. She lost track of Amethyst and she soon found herself grinding on a faceless man behind her as he held her hips as if to guide her, although she was plenty practiced in this form of movement.

Suddenly, a hand wrapped around her wrist and pulled her off the dance floor, not even realizing it was Amethyst until they stopped moving.

"What do you think your doing," the shorter girl nearly shouted at Lapis. "Do you even know that guy?"

Lapis just scoffed at her friend. "No, I don't know him, I didn't even see his face! I was just trying to have a good time. Aren't you the one who told me to have fun and live a little. Ya know, "enjoy the night" and all."

"Lapis," Amethyst said and shook her head in disapproval, "there's a difference between "enjoying the night" vs dry-humping a stanger to the point that--"

Amethyst couldn't finish her sentence, her eyes looking passed Lapis's confused face and locking on something behind her. Her face showed fear and guilt in the most sincerest of ways.

Lapis stood confuse for a moment, wondering why her friend had stopped talking so suddenly.

The answer showed itself in the form of a finger quickly running down the back of her neck and hooking around her black leather collar. She was yanked back into a familiar chest. Her breathing being resticted but not cut off as the pressure remained, holding her there.

Her brain jump started out of and drunkenness she was experiencing and everything came into hyperfocus. She could feel her goosbumps rising all over her body. Her heart was racing, desperate to pump more oxygen through her body. The lights were stobing and everyone seemed to be moving in a blur.

A hand placed on her left wrist sucked her in from everything like a root to reality until all she was aware of was the hand on her wrist, the pressure on her neck, and the body behind her.

Hot breath blew over her ear as that body shifted however slightly closer to her and a voice sounded.

"You better be home before I am. It's in your very best interest not to make me wait for you."

Then then body and hands left her, disappearing behind her as she dared not turn around. The lights and notices returned to her and she could finally breathe to whisper her response to now-gone figure.

"Yes, Peridot."
