And eventually, he's right—Keith stops waiting, and takes things into his own hands.

Keith wanted to try and convince the Emperor’s Oracle to follow him but as it turned out, the man was set to be executed instead. Unwilling to let a precious life (and a possible asset) go to waste, Keith barged in to rescue him, surprised to find that Shiro, the man in question had in fact been waiting for him. But he’s the Oracle, after all, he should know a few things or two.

“Shiro. I’ve found you.” He gasped out.
There couldn’t be anyone else but him, but the man that cradled him in his arms, hands holding him steadily against his chest, seemed somehow more solid than before.
“You didn’t find him. You were the one that came here.”
There stood before him was himself, somehow older, with a scar on his cheek. Where he had somehow expected, instinctively, hostility from a man that was a mirror image of his likeness, there was only knitted brows in concern.
“Keith.”
He had never heard his name from his own lips.
“How did you get here?” The man now crouched, cradling his face, turning it from side to side. “How did you get back on Earth?”

Summary
It starts with a war to end all wars and a prophecy that spells it's demise. But it's not until after that it begins to thrive.
“Engagement.” He looks at her, eyes wide and he nearly drops the book. Krolia’s looks becomes softer and Keith can’t stop the heat that rises in his face.
“You love him, don’t you?”
“I don’t- Yes? But isn’t it a bit soon for that?”
Krolia sighs and crouches down in front of him. She covers his hands, holding the book with him. “I think,” she says softly, “that you have loved him for a very long time."
