Chapter Text
Four Years Later
The sound of retching echoed through the restroom, concerning all of the omegas present until one was brave enough to lightly knock on the door of the stall on the furthest end. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine~" Yoongi choked out during a break between throwing up. "Thank you." He waited until he heard their footsteps walking away before groaning quietly, lowering his head. He stayed hunched over the toilet, one hand on his churning stomach until he was sure he was done. Then he wiped his mouth with some toilet paper before flushing the toilet and climbing unsteadily to his feet.
By the time he exited the stall, the only other person in there was an elderly female omega washing her hands at the sink. Yoongi offered her a polite smile before using water from the sink to rinse out his mouth and wash his hands. He had just pulled a mint out of his bag to pop into his mouth when he realized that she was staring at him with a look he'd only seen twice before--once at the pharmacy five weeks ago, and once from his doctor two weeks after that. "Congratulations." The older omega gushed, and Yoongi forced another polite smile on his face as he quietly thanked her. "Bringing a new life to the world is what makes all of our other hardships worth it. You must be so excited."
"Yeah…so excited." Yoongi responded as she left. "Fuck!" He rummaged through his bag for the bottle of scent blocker spray he'd started carrying around after Namjoon commented on how his scent had grown sweeter and warmer. Once located it, he sprayed some onto either side of his neck before rubbing it in with his wrists. When he felt the slight tingle in his glands that let him know it was working, he finally left to rejoin his friends for brunch. "You would not believe the line in the omega's room." He played off why he was gone so long as he sat back down.
"Believe me, I can." Jimin groaned. "It's torture trying to get in to change Yejun. One time I had to wait 20 minutes to change a blowout." He shook his head slightly before glancing at the 15-month-old sitting in the highchair next to him. "Can we start potty training? Like, today?"
"No." Yejun's response--although probably not actually having anything to do with Jimin's question and more to do with the fact that it had been his favorite word for the past month--had everyone bursting into laughter.
Jimin shook his head again, although his own eyes were lit with amusement. "Whatever you do, Yoongi, do not have pups." It was obvious he wasn't serious, as he immediately pressed a kiss to his youngest pup's forehead.
Yoongi bit his lip at the statement and was thankful when Hoseok changed the subject to his failed date from the night before. Even still, he couldn't stop thinking about pups, watching Jimin's three-year-old attempting to converse with her younger brother and wondering if his future pup would end up like one of them. Would they be super outgoing and friendly to everyone they pass on the street? Or would they be more like him and Namjoon, on the quiet side and more observational than interactional?
A sudden lurch in his stomach brought on by a passing plate of food broke through his thoughts, and he quickly grabbed his glass to sip at his water as he remembered that he would be figuring out the answer to that question much sooner than he would like.
Not that he wasn't happy to be pregnant. Despite his lacking response to the omega in the restroom, he couldn't be happier that he was carrying Namjoon's pup and was looking forward to the day he got to meet them and hold them in his arms. However, there were certain reasons leading to him using scent blockers to mask the pregnancy in his scent and preventing him from sharing the news with anyone--including Namjoon--just yet…or more specifically, certain persons.
Seokjin's phone dinged at that moment, and the older omega pulled it out to check. "Auntie Eunjeong is finalizing the dinner party this Saturday." He glanced at Yoongi. "You're coming, right?"
"That is why Namjoon and I eventually chose to move here, isn't it?" Yoongi responded. "To constantly be around your family." Even he knew his following smile was weak, so he covered it up with his glass of water.
"Everything alright?" Namjoon asked as he took Yoongi's hand to lead him into his grandmother's house, eyebrows furrowed in concern.
Yoongi nodded a bit distractedly. "Yeah, I just feel like I forgot something…" It wasn't the oven--he couldn't even remember the last time he had actually cooked instead of ordering takeout. It wasn't the lights--Namjoon made sure to go through their apartment to check for any straight lights on every time they went somewhere. Yoongi wasn't sure why he felt like there was something important he was forgetting.
"I'm sure it'll be fine." Namjoon assured him, bringing his hand up to press a kiss to his knuckles. "Whatever it is, I'm sure it's not important enough to stress about now."
"Let's hope." Yoongi put a smile on his face and leaned up to kiss his mate just before they entered the house.
Despite still not being the biggest fan of most of Namjoon's family--and he knew the feeling was mutual--Yoongi found himself able to forget about his anxiety as he mingled with the cousins he did get along with. And then Namjoon's grandmother finally made her entrance, going up to each of her descendants to greet them. She had the scowl that she always had around Yoongi ever since the night of Jungkook and Jimin's mating ceremony when she stopped in front of him, but it was only there for a few seconds before her nose twitched, an excited smile spreading across her face. And that's when Yoongi realized what it was he'd forgotten. Shit, the scent blockers.
"Namjoon-ah, when were you going to tell us you're expecting a child?!" She gushed, hand immediately shooting out to touch Yoongi's stomach, which in turn caused the omega to flinch back. "The heir to Kim Industries is finally on its way!"
Namjoon looked at Yoongi in a mixture of surprise and confusion, but Yoongi was unable to say anything as he was soon swarmed by Namjoon's aunts and older cousins, all wanting to get their chance to feel his stomach and shout their advice to him. The best doctors for c-sections, the best formula pots, how early to start spanking your pups and demanding respect from them, the best boarding schools. All things that made Yoongi want to scream until he was saved by the announcement that dinner was ready.
"I can't stand your fucking family!" Yoongi exclaimed as he stormed into their apartment, throwing his jacket to the side and letting his shoes stay in the middle of the walkway as he stormed to the kitchen to get a tub of cookies and cream ice cream from the freezer, seeing as he was no longer allowed to drink whiskey to deal with his in laws.
"I really thought we were past this." Namjoon mumbled under his breath, and it was obvious Yoongi wasn't supposed to hear him from the sheepish expression he got as Yoongi glared at him while getting a spoon.
"Yeah, we were really past it." Yoongi scoffed as he padded to the couch with his treat. "After the shit they put me through four years ago, and the way they tried to hijack our ceremony planning, oh and let's not forget last year when they realized I was still working and not just twiddling my thumbs at home all day, waiting for you to come knot me and impregnate me with your sperm." He jabbed his spoon into his ice cream and shoved as much as he could fit in his mouth.
Namjoon sighed. "I meant I thought that my family was past making you feel like an outsider.
Yoongi let out a sharp laugh. "I definitely wasn't the outsider tonight. Oh no, they all couldn't wait to tell me exactly how every single pup in your family has been raised so far and assuring me it was the best way."
"Can we actually go back to that?" Namjoon asked, immediately putting the omega's fire out.
"I was going to tell you." Yoongi said quietly, staring down at his ice cream. "I just…I didn't know how to tell you without walking into…" He used his hand to gesture that he meant exactly what had just happened at the family dinner.
"How about a 'hey, Namjoon, I'm pregnant'. Then I could probably do a better job at protecting you from my family's questions seeing as I wouldn't be blindsided."
"What exactly could you have done?" Yoongi asked with a defeated tone. "We both know how involved your family is, nothing could truly stop them from prying the way they did tonight."
Namjoon let out a small sigh. "I could have-"
"I'm only seven weeks pregnant." Yoongi cut him off. "And your aunts were already talking about what boarding school our pup should go to. I highly doubt there is anything you could have done to stop that."
"I could have very firmly told them that while we appreciate their investment in our pup, we have no plans of sending them to boarding school, especially not before they're even born." Yoongi looked at him in surprise. "Seeing as you were too overwhelmed to respond at all. I could do all the responding for you.
"You really mean it?" Yoongi asked. "Not the responding thing, but the no boarding school thing?"
Namjoon shrugged as he sat on the couch next to Yoongi. "I mean, I had a great time at boarding school, but I know you, and I know that you wouldn't want to send our pup away, and I wouldn't pressure you into something you're uncomfortable with."
Yoongi shifted on the couch so he was fully facing Namjoon. "You're serious that our pup can go to a normal school right here in Seoul and live with us until they choose?"
"Yes, I'm serious." Namjoon chuckled slightly. "Any other concerns you want to dispel right now?"
"No spanking." Yoongi blurted out. "Physical discipline will never be an option with our pup." Namjoon agreed. "And I want to go to a natural birthing center. Somewhere that a c-section won't even be considered unless there's a serious medical emergency. And I plan on breastfeeding as long as our pup wants, whether that be only six months or until they're three years old. And you're not gonna be the type of father who never sees their pups because they're working all the time." Namjoon nodded again. "I'm serious, I've only met your father twice, and the first time was at our mating ceremony two years ago. I want our pup to actually know you."
"They will." Namjoon promised Yoongi, kissing him to assure him even more. "Anything else?"
"I'm not giving up my career." Yoongi said with finality. "I'll take the 90-day maternity leave, but that's it." Namjoon opened his mouth to respond, but then Yoongi thought of something else. "But we're not getting a nanny to raise our pup. I'll bring them to work with me, maybe have Hoseok watch them if I have a meeting or something."
"That all sounds great." Namjoon said. "You're going to be an amazing mother to our pup." Yoongi felt his cheeks heat up as he took another bite of ice cream. "Oh my god, we're having a pup. This is actually happening, right?"
Yoongi giggled and nodded. "It really is." He squeaked when Namjoon surged forward to kiss him, the alpha already trying to get as close to him as possible. "Watch out for my ice cream." He whined and pouted, only to laugh when Namjoon carefully took the treat from him and set it on their coffee table so it was no longer in the way. Namjoon then didn't hold back from pinning Yoongi to their couch while peppering kisses all over his face.
