Chapter Text

Evil Gangle opened her eyes slowly, her head was pounding and the sunlight she was met with just made it so much worse.

“Ughhhhhh.. my heaaaddd…” the ribbon winced at the immediate pain after she woke up, taking a moment to focus her vision before looking around at her surroundings. She was laying down on a bench in the dugout, but it wasn’t an empty one. The voice of Ragatha reached her hearing first.

“Oh, look! She’s awake guys!”

Looking up, Evil Gangle now saw all eyes on her. She made an attempt to sit up, but the world started spinning as soon as she did so.

“Hey, hey, you need to rest. Lay back down.” A calm voice instructed. Looking over, the injured ribbon sat a blurry toy box character resembling Bazooble, except practically everything was switched around.

“Hey, wait… who are you?” She interrogated, trying her best to come off as intimidating but her voice refused to oblige. Despite the obviously helpful advice, Evil Gangle refused to listen and stayed sitting up. Once again going to harmful lengths to keep up her strong reputation.

“My name’s Zooble. Now lie down.” They answered dismissively, focusing on trying to get her to lay back down.

“No! I’m not listing to you, youu.. knockofff Bazooble.” She spat back, her words slurring together as her body fought to stay sitting up.

“What!? If anything, Bazooble is the knockoff of m- wait no, that’s not even what we’re talking about!” Zooble replied, their patience running thin.

“Woah, hey! You guys can’t be arguing like this! Just-“ Ragatha got up from the bench and walked over, her tone doused with concern. “You… other… evil Gangle. I really think you should lay back down, you need to rest from your injury-“ she turned to Evil Gangle, her voice sweeter than candy which just made the white ribbon a whole new level of irritated.

“Can you sssut up!? You’re not my mommm… yaknow?” She barked out, her words coming out as if she’d just downed three bottles of alcohol. Making a motion similar to rolling her eyes, the ribbon watched Ragatha shrink back into herself, apologize for being a bother, and retreat back to her seat.

“Heh.. just the doorrrmat I thought you’d be..” she chuckled weakly, looking back at her surroundings.

Evil Gangle saw Zoobles antennae twitch, probably from irritation, but that was the least of her problems right now. However, what regained her attention was Bazooble. The ribbon turned to the softball field, squinting her eyes to try and see better with her impaired vision. She saw Bazooble still at the diamond, and not only that but she swore she saw them looking over at her. Her face practically lit up at the sight of her love, and her face melted from its sharp glare into a sort of love struck look.

“Bazooble… Bazooble..” she giggled softly, behaving very uncharacteristically cheesy at the moment.

“Oh! Are you guys friends?” Evil Gangles counterpart asked, making the possibly concussed ribbon jump and whip her head around.

“Oh, it’s you-“ she remarked once seeing the tearful expression and white porcelain, but her annoyed mood was short lived, instead being replaced with dread from the sudden wave of nausea that washed over her. Now hunched over and clutching her midsection, Evil Gangle was reconsidering her decision to keep up her strong and unbothered persona, but her pride was still overpowering any smart decisions.

“Yeah, it’s me…” from the corner of her eye, the white ribbon could see her counterpart staring at her with concern possibly? Whatever it was it made her even more irritated. “Are you sure you don’t want to lie down?” She asked worriedly, confirming Evil Gangles suspicions.

“No! I’m fi-“ her hand went up to her mouth mid sentence as the nausea got worse.

“Oh my f[#%$!]ing god.” Zooble grumbled, getting up and walking away.

“Zooble? Where are you going?” The red ribbon asked worriedly, turning towards her partner but not leaving Evil gangles side. After hearing no response she turned back to the injured player, placing a ribbon hand on her shoulder. “Uh, just… breathe? I’m not sure what Zooble’s doing but I’m sure they’re trying to help too!” She reassured gently, patting the other ribbons shoulder encouragingly.

“Z-Zooble..” Evil Gangle breathed out, looking up at the other ribbon helping her. Taking a few moments before continuing, struggling through her words from both nausea and the utter absurdity of her question. “You guys are… together?” She asked, her tone coming off way too desperate for her liking.

“Oh! Uh…” A blush grew across Gangles face, turning away bashfully for a moment before looking back at the other to reply. “I guess you could say that! Hehe.. we… we’re really close you could put it..” she giggled, swinging her legs just thinking about her partner.

Evil Gangle almost threw up at the obnoxious display, but knew deep down she was no better than the ribbon kicking her feet and blushing like a schoolgirl. Taking another deep breath, she prepared for the moment that her stubbornness would crumble. Even for just a moment it felt so foreign to be giving in to these insane desires… and even worse, asking for help indulging in them. “Look… I…-“ she paused, hoping that she could keep her composure. The nerves climbing up her body made her condition so, so much worse, but she kept going either way. “I need help.” She began.

“Well, of course you do? That’s what Zooble and I were doing-“

“No. I need help with… something else. And only from you.” She cut her off, getting irritated that she didn’t get to finish her request.

“Oh! Uh… why only me?” Gangle asked, looking confused at why the person who was insulting her and pushing her not too long ago was asking for her help now. Nonetheless, she listened.

“… how did you.. like.. you know….. get them to… like you back?” She stammered, averting their gaze to anywhere but the red ribbon.

“Ohhhhh! I understand now…” Gangle nodded, a hand going up to her face as she pondered on the matter. “So, you, a hopeless romantic, are asking help from me?” She glanced at Bazooble on the field before going back to Evil Gangle.

“Uhhh… yeah.” The other replied, now a bit scared of what she’d gotten herself into.

“Heheheh… I remember.. I used to be juuust like you.” Gangle chuckled, a wide smirk growing on her face. “I have one question before we begin…” she paused for dramatics, looking up at Evil Gangle expectantly. To which the other ribbon looked confused and slightly concerned.
“Are you willing to go to extreme measures?
Because once you go in… there’s no turning back.”

Notes:

Finally got the inspiration and motivation to write! It may be about two characters that have little to no screentime and character development but we ignore that…

The updates for this fic might be irregular, but I know I’m not leaving this unfinished! :D
