"So how was it?" Akari asks while stuffing food in her mouth.
"Well I mostly just explored the area and caught some pokemon, I even saw another Eevee but it ran away before I could catch it."
There is always a next time and if i have to seek out all pokemon anyways, I'll definitely meet another one.
"Don't worry about it, I'm sure you will have plenty of chances to catch another Eevee." Professor Laventon attempts to cheer me up.
I know.
"But i'm glad to hear that you're working so hard on your pokedex, just don't forget the research tasks alright my boy?"
"Yes don't worry, I'll do them as well."
Honestly these tasks are kinda boring, I'm mainly doing them to get my rank up. If I do happen to discover something interesting, then you won't see me complaining.
"Hey!" Akari looks at me with a serious expression. "Since you now have the first star rank, tommorow we can go out and explore more. I also need your help with something."
I nod and we quietly finish our food. Me and Eevee head back to the cabin I'm staying in.
"What a day that was, let's hope tommorow will be better."
*Eevee*
"Yeah I know better not jinx it."
As I'm about to fall asleep, I start thinking about my timeline and how I was working at Professor Rowan's lab before this happend. I hope he won't be too mad at my absence, not like i can really do something about it. Now that I think about it the commander kinda reminds me of him. I don't know It's just something about them, at least Professor Rowan doesn't throw me across the room, as far as i know atleast. Ugh why am I thinking about this now, I just want to sleep. Eventually I do manage to fall asleep and get some rest.
I wake up in the morning, as one usually does, and prepare to head out. *Eevee*
"Morning Eevee."
Eevee excitingly runs around, untill she eventually stops and starts looking at me with big eyes instead. "If you're hungry I could check my bag for berry's." She nod at that. Alright then. I walk over to my back and open it. Looks like i still have the oran berry's I collected yesterday. If I remember right, there supposed to heal the pokemon that consumes it a little. I collected alot of them 17 to be exact, since you can also make potions with them. I grab the oran berry and hand it to Eevee. She finishes it quickly and we prepare to head outside again.
I pick her up and leave the cabin. Outside Akari seems to be waiting already. Please don't tell me she's been waiting for me again. "Akari how are you." "No time to talk, come on let's head to the training grounds!" And she left me, again! Guess I gotta find the training grounds now, why couldn't she just guide me there? No, it'll be fine, I'll find my way there eventually. "Let's go Eevee, don't want to keep her waiting again, now do we?" She agrees and we start walking around.
I pass by the big building I was in yesterday, I learned that it was called Galaxy hall, wich is a weird name in my opinion. Hold on I just remembered that I promised the guard to bring him a wurmple.
I walk up to the guard. "Hey there, I got the Wurmple you wanted." I hand over my Wurmple. "You really brought me one!" "Of course, I did promise it." *Eevee* " Eevee here also helped out." He tells me that he needs help choosing a name for the wurmple, as he was informed it would evolve into a Beautifly. Doesn't wurmple have another evolution line? He then asks me which name I prefer: Beauticia, Beautifred or Beaugene. Those are some very interesting name but if i really have to choose then..."I like Beauticia the most." " I like it too guess that's decided then." Wurmple- No Beauticia seems to be happy with it aswell. That's good I guess. The guard gives me some honey as thanks and I start walking away, then I realises that I still have no idea where the training grounds are and and go back to ask the guard for directions.
Now knowing where to go, I quickly head to the training ground, where Akari is alredy waiting for me again.
"Thanks for coming, I know your busy." Define Busy. "So why did you want to meet me here?" Come on Gary it's obvious, this place is literally called the training grounds. What elso would you do here other then train?? "You see I have a partner of my own." "You do?" I mean she did mention getting hit with a thunderbolt, so maybe thats connected. "Yes this is my partner, Pikachu." A pikachu, that reminds me of someone. "I got scared when i battled a shinx once and couldn't think clearly, since then Pikachu doesn't listen to me anymore. She looks down in sadness. Honestly valid, if i knew that pokemon can just attak me directly I would panic to, then again panic is never gonna bring you anywhere. "But you and your Eevee works so well togehter, that I realised that still have a lot to learn, so please have a battle with me!" I knew this was coming, might aswell. "Sure."
I sent Eevee into battle and her Pikachu immediately starts with a thunderwave, paralysing Eevee. "Eevee use swift!" Swift hits and Pikachu takes alot of damage. She must not battle often, which makes sense if her pikachu isn't listening, well let's finish this. "Eevee quick attak!" Despite being paralysed Eevee still managed to land the quick attak and defeat her Pikachu. "You and your pokemon seem to be completely in step with one another."
"Thanks." I say while petting Eevee on the head. "Good job Eevee." *Eevee* "No thank you for battling us, for a moment it actually felt like Pikachu and I understood each other." She then talks to her Pikachu. I turn back to Eevee and feed her another Oran berry. Guess that leaves me with only 15.
"Oh by the way, the professor said pokemon have things calles types, which apparently make a difference in battles." So types were only discovered now huh, wonder wich ones they have. "Really, what are they?" I'm pretty sure that i shouldn't now this already and it also gives her a chance to explains, so it's a win win. "Yes Pikachu seems to be an electric type, for example. I have a list of them here, if you want to take a look?" "Sure." I take the list and look at it. That's alot of types, even the fary type is here. So how did it get lost then? I give the list back to Akari.
"So you're the new recruit everyone is talking about?" I turn around to see a red haired woman approaching. "The name is Zisu, Captain of the security corps." Oh so she's my superior? Well let's hope I won't forget her name, though with the amount of people here that might just happend. "I see you got some fight in you, so i decided to stop by and give you some advice." Advise? Sure why not. "Zisu isa master of ancient martial art-one that specialises in pokemon battles." That means she's great in pokemon battles right? "That's cool, you said you wanted to give me advice?" "Yes, listen pokemon have diffrent styles! On one hand , you can use the strong style which makes a move more powerfull but your pokemon will need longer to act. On the other hand you can choose to unleash a move in agile style." I nod, to show her that i'm still listening. "It will make the move weaker but your pokemon might act faster. In the right situation it might even get two moves in, before the opponent can act. That's alot of information but I'm sure they'll be useful at some point.
"Captain Zisu can also teach your pokemon powerfull moves, but now we need to go meet Mai. I could use your help with her request remember. I'm to meet her araund Aspiration Hill, I'll wait for you there." There she goes, didn't even wait for my answer. Well it's not like I have anything else to do right now, might as well. I walk up to Captain Zisu and ask her to help my Eevee master a move. She just tells me that I need a seed of mastery for that. Great! I walk away slightly disappointed, now heading towards the entrence.
Having the way memorised by now, sure gives me an advantage. "heading out to Obsidian fieldlands now." I quckly tell the guard, who just nods.
I arrive at the base camp and take a minuted to enjoy the view. Back here again, It feels way more peaceful than it actually is. "BOO!" AHH holy shit who the hell- "Did i suprise you? I bet I did." I take a few breaths to calm myself down. "I was trying to anyways." "It's nice to see you too Volo, but why are you here?" I ask pretending like he didn't just scare the shit out of me. "I wanted to teach you something, a secret technique to catch pokemon." A secret technique, that might be useful. "It's called Back stricke technique, if you hit a pokemon from behind it will give you an advantage in catching and battling. Oh hey I've been doing that. Since your working with the security corps now, you'll probably work on your pokedex aswell. I look foreward to the day you accomplish that. With that he leaves and i'm alone with Eevee again. He doesn't seems so bad afterall, i guess it won't hurt to trust him at least a little. Now I should head out aswell.
I pass by a bunch of Bidoof and catch some of them in hope of fulfilling my pokedex page a bit more. I walk further untill i reach a bridge. Yesterday the guard wouldn't let me through, let's see if that's different today. I walk up to the guardand surprisingly he let's me through, so I cross the bridge and see Akari and another person standing there. That must be Mai then.
I walk up to them. "Mai, this is Gary." So I was right. "My, My a new face in the village? Not that it matters. If you're here, I assume you're prepared to help?" I nod. "I'm one of the wardens of the diamond clan. You can call me Mai." A warden? She then goes on to explain what a warden is but stops and decides to get straight to the point instead. "I have a problem, I need help with, so do you feel confident you can lead your pokemon in battle?" I mean I used to be a a pokemon trainer, so I'm pretty sure I can handle it. "I do." "That's good to hear now prove it by beating my partner in a battle." Her partner, who I assume is the Munchlax that's standing next to her, can't be that strong right. I mean Munchlax is quite the rare pokemon afterall. Well you never know till you try. She then goes on to talk about her backstory with Munchlax wich doesn't really interest me much as I'm much more focused on a battle strategy.
She sends her Munchlax into battle and I do the same with Eevee. I tell Eevee to use swift wich hits but doesn't do much damage, wich makes sense cause it's a normal type. Ot then hits Eevee with a tackle, which is also a normal type move and doesn't do much damage either. I then remember that Eevee had learned double kick at some point, which is a super effective move. "Use double kick!" It hits the Munchlax twice, winning me the battle.
"You really aren't one of the usual Galaxy buffons, if you could defeat my partner." Buffons? She must not like the Galaxy team much. She gives me 5 vivichokes wich I'll probably need for crafting. You two fought well together, it reminded me of the hero, from the story we tell the children. Hahaha me a hero, no that's just wrong. I can think of many others who are way more worthy of that title. "So what do you want me to do?" I ask trying to speed up the conversation a bit. "I need someone todeal with an alpha pokemon causing problems upon Deertrack heights. It's a large, fearsome foe but you'll come won't you?" Alpha pokemon? Haven't heard that yet. As i'm about to answer my phone suddenly makes noise. I take it out of my pocket and take a look at it: it shows a map. "That thing you have, it's showing you where to go isn't it?" Akari suddenly speaks up, which honestly scares me as I completely forgot that she's even here in the first place. "I'll leave this up to you then, I know you'll do great out there!" So Akari won't be joining us afterall.
"Before we go, i must ask, do you arledy know what the almighty Sinnoh is?" Sinnoh? That's the name of the region I was in before this happened but it being almighty? I shake my head. She then explains to me that the almighty Sinnoh is a pokemon that created the universe, which reminds me of Arceus. Apparently there are also pokemon with a connection to it. These so called honoured pokemon. "As a warden it's my job to take care of this honoured pokemon needs." Oh so like slaves, wait no it's probably not that bad. "There is one here aswell, follow me." There she goes. People here really need to stop running of, atleast I have a map this time.
I take out my phone to look at my map. This map only shows my destination not how to get there! Like seriously! Atleast the only way is upwards. I put my phone away and start walking foreward again. This path is surrounded by torches, now you really can't get lost. *Eevee* "I'm getting distracted again aren't I?" She nods. "Alright then no more distractions, this time I will walk up the hill without any distractions!" Probably... I keep walking upwards and even run from Zubats, but hey atleast I managed to get through without any distractions. I finally reach the top, where Mai is already waiting for me.
"Mai I'm here." "So even the professor decided to join us." huh the professor? I turn around to see professor Laventon running up the hill. Why are you running up a hill? Isn't that exhausting? "Thank goodness I got here in time, as a researcher I can hardly miss a chance to observe an alpha." I mean he's got a point. "As long as you don't get in the way." Is this going to keep happing? Everytime we're about to do something, someone else comes along wich makes everything take even longer ughhhh.
We the walk to an empty area together. "This is the place where I take care of the honoured pokemom." Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that. Suddenly a pokemon comes running but it looks taller than your ordinary pokemon. Is this an alpha pokemon then? "This is not it. That's only a troublemaker, here to disturb the peace!" Damm she really doesn't like that pokemon. That makes sense cause this is where she takes care of that honoured pokemon sooo.. "Well Gary, this is your task, get rid of that pokemon!" What an interesting way to word that. Since I have no other choice anyways, I decide to walk up to it and semt out eevee for battle. Now that I'm closer, I can actually recognise the pokemon as Kricketune.
"Alright Eevee use swift!" Swift hits and deals a good amount of damage. Eevee then get's hit with aerial ace twice, dealing alot of damage. Eevee the uses swift again but this time it's stronger. Swift hits and the alpha kricketune faints. I won. Wow i really thought it would be stronger.
"You really are an impressive one aren't you? It really reminds me of the legandary hero." Not this hero talk aagain.She said some more stuff but i wasn't really listening anymore. *Wyerrr* "What in the world!?" Where did that come from, even the professor seems to be surprised, then again he isn't really the most informend here either. *Wyerrr* We all look up to a cliff where we heard it from, on top of it is a pokemon I haven't seen before. What kind of pokemon is that? "It's the great Wyrdeer!" Well isn't that just great, such information, truly amazing. I roll my eyes. "What kind of pokemon is it?" Maybe when I ask I might actually get some information! "It's a pokemon that can dash across hisui, while carrying a human it deems worthy, on his back. He's a blessing to us all. So this is the honoured pokemon then, It doesn't look like i imagined it. I mean who would have thought that an honoured pokemon is actually a white version of stantler.
The professor and Mai are talking about something but I don't care enough to pay attention to it. I pet eevee on the head. "You did great in that fight." Eevee makes some happy noises. The Wyrdeer suddenly jumps down, and stops infront of us. "Uhhh hey?" I say nervously. "He looks upon you with kindness Gary." Oh does he now. The pokemon stares at me for a few seconds and then leaves. "He seems to have taken a liking to you." Oh and that's good???
"Professor Laventon! Gary!" We all turn around and see Akari running up to us. Seriously that's the second person now that's running up a hill, do they all have infinite stamina or something? "Captain Cyllene sent me here. She said that once Gary carried out this request, we'd be able to set up a base camp here." "Ah about that." And that's where I stopped listening and started focusing on eevee again. I watch her walk around this empty area for a bit until Mai comes up to me. "You have my thanks for your help today." With that she leaves. I go over to Akari and help with setting up the base camp. By the time where done it's alredy evening. "Nice work today everyone. What say, we all head back to the wallflower?" What exactly did you do? Unless you count running up a mountain! "Sure" No point in getting upset over this again.
We return to the village and I notice that I have enough points for the next rank. Guess I have to stop by Captain Cyllenes office soon. At the wallflower we happily eat our food, which is really good by the way. Beni then approaches our table. "Have you heard the news yet, the kleavor feom the rumors ended up killing some of our galaxi folks." "The one who was struck by lightning?" Good to know the professor knows abaut this but apparently not the alpha pokemon, but hey at least this is quite interesting information. I wonder If i get to see the pokemon myself some time but if hes killing people, it would probably be safer not to. "I did hear he hasn't been the same ever since then but if you need to do more investigation, the security corps is always available." Yeah cause it's such a great Idea to send children to deal with your problems! Wait does this mean Beni is a one of the "higher ups" cause he sure seems to have some sort of authority?" He takes his leave and so do we. I go back to my cabin and fall asleep almost immediately and so does Eevee.
