Chapter Text
Fear not, this is not a note to say I'm abandoning this story. I did however, want to state plainly what the last chapter proved - this story will obviously not be published on the actual twelve days of Christmas of 2024 (given it is March, two years later). I am a full time grad student right now, with various part time jobs and volunteer responsibilities around it, and the free time to write very kinky porn is essentially non-existent. The world is on fire, and seems to be no matter where you are in it. This does not mean I am abandoning Matt and Nate, and given how many stories I know I've read where the author has happily announced that they will absolutely be continuing the story and then the last update was six years ago, I want to assure that this will not be one of those stories. No shame to those who have had to abandon a fic, it is hard work and life and brains do not always do what you would very much like them to do. I can say with certainty my writing of this story will continue because it haunts the back of my brain at all times. This story will absolutely be continued because if I do not put this story on paper to its completion I will be haunted by it for the rest of my days.
That being said, I have created a daunting challenge for myself. Any story of length is hard, and the fact that this is a beast of nearly 21,000 words is unthinkable to me. The fact that it is twelve chapters of essentially the same thing over and over, makes it incredibly difficult to write. Continuously finding ways to make it fresh, innovative, and interesting within such a strict box is a large part of what drew me to the challenge of it in the first place. It's also really fucking hard to write. But Nate continues to surprise me with invention as I plan and re-plan the final three days, and I will endevour to continue finding the pockets of time I can to deliver it to all of you. Thank you all for making it this far, and continuing to return again and again. I do not post much writing on tumblr right now, for the same reasons, but I do reblog others with some regularity if you ever wish to take a look.
