Chapter Text
Cub doesn’t acknowledge the other evoker or Scar’s departure, only focusing on sorting through Grian’s memories.
“I see you caught the trespasser,” they start, tone already veering dangerously.
Cub hums, “I did, they were pretty skillful at hiding out.”
“So why aren’t they dead?”
Cub pulls back just long enough to give he evoker a look, “They’re much more useful alive then dead. Since I managed to get them turned, I can now study all of their memories to figure out those camps near the borders.”
It was certainly too good of an opportunity to pass up, that camp of humans has been irritating them for a while now. To learn that Scar was protecting the human and was willing to change them was a perfect chance to gather information.
Cub doesn’t enjoy hiding these intentions from Scar, but they’re far from the days where they were colleagues who shared everything together. Not like Cub told him everything, he only learned what Cub was when it was way too late.
The other evoker nods, “Good, those humans have become a rather troublesome nuisance. It’d be nice to learn the best way to clear them out.”
“I’ll share what I’ve learned once I’m done going through these memories, and put him somewhere in my sector.” While evokers don’t typically step on each other’s areas, it’s not unheard of for some to try to get as many vex as possible. Cub needs to put an early claim on this one before another tries, both for Scar’s sake and his own if he succeeds in protecting Grian’s mind.
The evoker eyes him knowingly, “So be it, we’ll prepare for a meeting.”
Cub nods, glad to be able to return his full focus to studying Grian’s memories. They’re very interesting, and he’s gleeful to take note on everything involving the human camp.
Of course, his memories with Scar also catch Cub’s eye, and he can’t help but sigh. He was right, Scar can truly be too compassionate sometimes.
Hopefully with the eradication of this camp there won’t be any more risks for him to take.
