Chapter Text
“What do you think?” Soobin comes out of his room in a white dress shirt with a neat, black tie settled down on his torso with a beige jacket over it all. He has light washed baggy jeans and socks, no shoes yet, they’ll decide at the door.
Beomgyu likes it. He smiles playfully. “Woahhh, this one’s pretty nice! Where were you during last year’s Paris fashion week?” Soobin chuckles, pushing his black glasses up his tall nose bridge.
Beomgyu is wearing a faint beige plaid jacket with buttons, a casual white shirt under, and baggy grey sweats. He’s holding a beige cap.
They put on their shoes and finally head out the door. They go down the stairs and out of the building their dorm is, talking about where they wanna go. Mentions of the arcade, a cafe, an amusement park, the aquarium, the Hangang river, a restaurant… anything and everything they think the other would enjoy comes out.
They decide to first stop at a nearby coffee shop for Americanos. Soobin goes to sit next to the window while Beomgyu pays. He returns to the table his one and only chose, sitting in front of him.
Man, who knew guys looked this good, even in casual attire? The sun settles on Soobin so well it’s like they're in a movie, the coloring making the movie feel warm and comforting. Soobin looks over at the staring man across from him, a smile perched on his lips.
“What, do I really look that good today?” He asks, his smile becoming a slight smirk. Beomgyu can only let out a quiet laugh, his eyes turning away as his ears go red. There may have been no verbal response, but his body language tells Soobin his answer. “..Cute.” He mutters under his breath, just barely audible.
They get their iced Americanos and decide to go to a flower shop. Was it for a special occasion? No. But today was their special day, and that’s all that mattered.
Soobin held the door open for Beomgyu. The strong fragrance of flowers enveloped them as he followed Beomgyu in. The shop was covered, decorated, and filled with flowers of all kinds. Different colors were sectioned off, and in those sections were various shapes, sizes, petals, scents… a botanist’s dream.
Beomgyu went over to examine the pink flowers while Soobin went over to the white flowers. They both took their time smelling each flower’s scent, occasionally going over to the other to show their discovered flower’s scent. Normally, if this were for anyone else, they wouldn’t spend this much time trying to pick the perfect flower for the one they had in mind. Except it was each other their mind was stuck on. They were each other’s only exception.
Eventually, Beomgyu chose pink peonies and Soobin chose white roses. They walked out of the flower shop with beautiful bouquets in their hands.
“Soobin-ah.” Beomgyu said, looking at Soobin with a fond expression, holding out his flower bouquet. “I know I didn’t say anything before but, these are for you.” Pink peonies, for him.
Soobin couldn’t help but smile deeply, his bunny teeth appearing. He took his bouquet and held his white roses out, eyes twinkling with a deep admiration and gentle love for the man standing in front of him.
“These are for you too.” He said, smile ever so present. Their hands touched briefly, the touch shocking but riding the waves of soft love and unspoken confessions.
As they were walking down the streets of Seoul, they talked about everything and anything else they could come up with. Tomorrow by together’s future activities, unreleased songs, in progress albums, all the way to insignificant things like social media micro trends and a lyric in a song they both enjoyed. The symbolic meaning of a song they both liked and the secret meaning of the flowers that the other had given each other.
Beomgyu loved talking to Soobin. If he could, he could spend his days and nights chatting with him about anything. He enjoys his scent, his voice, his bunny teeth smile, his tired eyes, his presence in general, he loves it all. As Soobin continues to talk about an album he’s been getting into recently, Beomgyu can’t help but affectionately smile at him. He’s so glad he’s here. So glad to have been lucky enough to meet him, so thankful that fate was kind enough to let them meet. Because he realizes that only after Beomgyu meant Soobin, did he finally know what it was like to be happy.
