Chapter Text
Walking away from Rumi and Bobby Zoey felt super confident, because screw hiding and screw being subtle, if Mira was upset nothing was stopping her.
However, Mira seemed okay when Zoey walked out to the patio.
Actually, she was uncharacteristically peppy, humming a song while she ran around with a tap measurer taking notes. Zoey giggled a little at the sight.
That action actually caught the dancer’s attention, she dropped the stuff and kicked it under the couch.
“Shit, Zo, whatcha doing out here. Are you not going to hang out with Rumi?” Zoey smirked “I am. Are you going to tell me what your planning”. Mira was flustered, Zoey had never seen anything that cute. “I’m not planning anything, but if I was hypothetically planning a date of some sort, it would probably start around sunset.” Zoey just stood there smiling like an idiot. Mira, saw that Zoey had been completely distracted and wasn’t going anywhere.
So with a goofy smile on her face she walked over to the smaller girl then lifted her up, spinning around, and kissing her. Mira mumbled into the top of her hair, “Also, I may have kinda added to Rumi’s delusions that there is something between us.”
Zoey put on her most dramatic performance, “Theres something between us! Oh my goodness you were so subtle with your lurking.” Mira looked at her with soft eyes, “Get going already. I have secret plans to start.”
Zoey felt a shiver of excitement flow through her, “Ok” the rapper kissed her one more time, “You know Ill be thinking about you the whole time right.” Mira smiled softly, the smile Zoey knew was reserved for her, “I would expect nothing less Zo.” The dancers long arms released Zoey and she skipped back inside to her room.
She threw on some leggings and tied her hair into her signature buns. She had planned to take off the hoodie, but lost her desire to when she caught a wif of Mira’s perfume.
With a final glance in the mirror she grabbed a hat and walked out the door calling to Rumi and Bobby. “She’s not grumpy anymore, we can go.”
They exchanged a glance and Zoey smiled wider, they had seen the traces of lipgloss she had left on her lips.
Good, Zoey thought.
They decided to get their nails done, while Bobby don’t get color he appreciates tight cuticles and manicured nails.
However, when Zoey went to select the color she blanked. She wanted them to match with whatever she wore tonight.
The memories of her nails scratching down Mira’s skin as they kissed in the studio for the first time.
“Zoey, Zoey!” She looked up at Bobby, then up at spa lady, “Uh, hi, what was the question again.” The lady smiles kindly, “What color would you like?” She gestured to the book in the table beside Zoey’s chair. A familiar pink caught her eye, “I’ll take that one.” The woman nodded and left. Then Rumi spoke up, “That’s a familiar shade. Any events coming up?” Zoey blushed a little,
“I have a date tonight.” She said it in her most casual tone but relished in the reactions. Bobbys mouth dropped open, he tried to form words but nothing but stutters came out. Rumi seemed a bit taken by suprise, then a smirk fell onto her face.
“A date, huh. Do we know the lucky person.” Zoey was buzzing, she didn’t know how Mira managed to be so nonchalant all the time. But she tried, “Yah, I’m going out with Mira.”
Rumi’s eyes flashed to Zoey, she obviously hadn’t expected such an easy admission and Bobby just let out a squeak. Still riding from the high of catching them by suprise Zoey continued,
“Which brings me to my next point,” the pair were listening to Zoey with rapt eyes, “we need to go shopping because I have absolutely nothing to wear and am freaking out a bit.”
This confession led to the hasty end of their nail appointment (They tipped extra for rushing), off to where Bobby had set up a collection of designers in a where house. There were luxury brands as well as local ones, most in Zoey’s size but a good mix of Rumi’s as well.
They were here for hours, only when an alarm told Zoey it was time to go back to the apartment did she wrap thing up.
In the end she wore a strapless denim dress with a belt across the top. Bobby had done her makeup while Rumi did her hair into it’s signature buns, and Zoey tried not to fidget.
Finally it was time to go, Zoey walked to the car as confidently as she could muster, but when she looked back she saw Bobby and Rumi standing behind her waving dramatically.
Bobby shouted, “Now you must go forth on your own child.” Rumi added, “I have been asked to leave our shared home for the duration of the night. So, enjoy that.” Zoey blushed like crazy and got in the car.
The sun was just beginning to set as Zoey’s driver pulled up next to the building. With a deep breath Zoey got up and into the elevator.
When the doors opened it was like something out of the romcoms Zoey always forced Mira to watch on their days off.
Rose petals lined the floor leading to the outdoor patio, and the patio itself was even more impressive.
Candles, Wildflowers mixed with the roses (those were Zoey’s favorite but Rumi was really bad with pollen so they couldn’t be in the house). The centerpiece of this dreamscape was the model with her back to Zoey, her Leopard print skirt highlighted her long legs, a black backless halter top clung to her revealing way to much skin to allow Zoey to function.
Then, Mira turned, Zoey must have did something stupid because she chuckled, picked up a bouquet of wildflowers and help them out to Zoey. “Damn Zo, I… I have no words.” Zoey blushed but Mira’s warm tone continued, “How am I supposed to watch the sunset when I can’t take my eyes off of you?”
And that’s the moment Zoey knew she was already hopelessly in love.
