Chapter Text
3 long months had went by Okira was suddenly cursing that darn apothecary that she had spoken to about if Majiri and Humans could reproduce together. He had told her no, he didn’t think that could be possible but here she was, living proof, that it was. The former enemies turned overly passionate lovers went at it for weeks straight, every night, until they both had their fill. Two people who both loved so intensely that they had to shut off feelings for others had finally let that go and let each other feel things.
Hassian was Okira’s voice of reason in her head when she knew she was about to do something irrational. Like when Reth got injured so she HAD to go deliver something for Zeki to Tamala, who had the audacity to make a petty comment about her wearing his pin. She could hear the disappointment in his voice, had she dragged the old bitch… witch… up and down Bahari Bay but ruled that it would be better if someone had accidentally released a bunch of rabid Chapaa in her house in the middle of the night as payback instead. That someone being Luna, who when told that her little sister was upset about a comment made to her, grabbed the biggest bags she had and got to collecting Chapaa. She wasn’t around much but when she was, she was a great older sister.
Okira was Hassian’s own personal walking poem. Everything about her was poetry. The way that she walked, smiled, flipped her hair, cried out for him during intimate times, and even how she cried sometimes after they finished because she was so emotional over him. He never would’ve thought that he could find love again after having his heart ripped from his chest and abused like how a child would a toy, but Okira showed him what love is supposed to feel like. She kissed him and told him how handsome he was every morning, brought him his favorite food and corny jokes for lunch, then cuddles and whatever she wanted him to make her for dinner. She was finally content with life again. He gave her all the reassurance she needed to do whatever she wanted to do. She started performing more, hunting together with him more, and even convinced her siblings that they needed double and triple dates more to ensure they were all spending an adequate amount of time together.
That is until she started showing. She was completely in denial until he stood her in front of the mirror in her room and forced her to look at her extending belly. She pouted and poked her bottom lip out like a child before hiding her face in her sweater sleeves. “Don’t hide now,” he sighed, “you weren’t hiding when you told me to-“
“DO NOT finish that sentence, Hassian. I will rip your penis off and feed it to the first Sernuk I see, do not push me.”
He chuckled, “What did I say about these threats that you love hurling at me?”
She mocked him,” WhAt dId I sAy- shut up! What are we going to do about this!?” Okira turned to hide her face in his neck instead and playfully but gently hit him in the chests. He took both of her hands, bringing up to his mouth this kiss, and placed them on both sides of his face.
“May I see your face, please?”
She sighed and pulled back, looking him directly in the eyes. Her face softened when she saw him give his best attempt at a closed mouth smile to her. She gave him a real one back and kissed him before pulling away to sit back down on the bed. “Why aren’t you worried about this? We haven’t even been together that long. And we aren’t even married!”
“Yet.”
“Yet what?”
He sat down next to her, “We aren’t married yet. You didn’t honestly think that I wouldn’t marry you, did you? What kind of man do you take me for?”
The girl opened and closed her mouth several times but couldn’t think of a response back. Instead, she chose to just rub her small belly that popped up overnight and surprised the hell out of them both. She was nervous while he couldn’t contain his feelings and spent the morning kissing her all over then writing poems about how he hopes to be as a father. She had to skim her entire closet to find a shirt long enough and big enough, cursing herself for buying so many crop tops, and settled on the sweater she was currently wearing while they devised a plan to tell her siblings. They were already shocked, appalled, and in disbelief when the couple announced their commitment to each other but now that the relationship was progressing further, the siblings were going to 1. Kick her ass out the house before the baby arrives and 2. Throws condoms at her head for the next year or two for not listening to them and never having any. In her defense, you don’t need them when you aren’t seeing anyone! If anything, it was Ojiro’s fault for sending the hunter over that night. He wanted this to happen is what she kept telling herself. Maybe one day she’ll actually believe it.
Okira had gathered the family around the dining table, Sifuu and Tau included, and stood before them nervously. They looked back at her, sneaking glances between each other to see if the other knew what this was about. After minutes of silence, Hassian finally stood up. “Good morning, everyone Thank you for showing up. Ojiro and Luna, I would like to ask you for your blessing to marry your sister.” Sifuu jumped out her seat screaming so fast, her chair nearly put a dent in the wall. Luna jumped up and joined in the screaming, congratulating the couple and engulfing them in hugs. The older siblings both gave their blessings and sat back in their seats. When it was time for Okira to ask Sifuu to accept her into her family officially, her eyes couldn’t help but to well up with tears. Sifuu, knowing what was supposed to happen next, got up and hugged her again, affirming her that she was already apart of the family and the best daughter that she could ever have. It wasn’t until Sifuu pulled away from the hug that she felt the bump, making her eyes pop open and audibly gasping.
“Okira! Hassian! Do you have something you want to tell me!?”
The couple both froze and looked at each other, waiting for the other to answer. Hassian did his usual hand gesture and neck movement that she hated so badly and she crossed her arms over he chest and gave him the same look back. Okino, laughing his ass off at the standoff in front of him stood up, “Alright, my turn, let me guess. We have a little purple or brown niece or nephew on the way?”
Sifuu teared up and hugged her son with all the strength in her being. She was crushing him, but he allowed it just this once. Luna wanted to be the first to rub the belly so she hopped up and raced Tau, beating him by pushing the poor hound away, and started baby talking through the sweater. Okira laughed and laughed as her cousin talked to the belly and Tau rubbed his nose against it. Ojiro and Okino, still seated, dapped each other up, happy that their plan of getting the two most lovesick villagers to come together and finally be one. They always wanted their sister to be happy, they just couldn’t give her want she wanted. Now that she had it, all was well again.

“Hassian! I told you the twins aren’t ready for hunting yet! They’re only 5, that’s too young!” Okira shouted from the top of the cliff. She spotted her husband, son, and daughter all crouched in a bush with bows drawn, ready to pounce on an elder Sernuk and it filled her with rage. They had just found out that they were expecting another and Hassian, the doting husband that he was, was so excited that he decided to take the kids hunting like they had been begging for. The twins stuck their tongues out at her request and refocused on their task at hand and the red head signed, accepting defeat.
When the hunter and hunters in training returned to the Grove, which actually held a proper house now and not a raggedy tent, they showed off their prizes to the huntress and followed up with hundreds of kisses. He sent the kids way to go meet their uncles by the lake before grabbing his wife and kissing her, despite her playfully swatting him away.
“Okira.”
“Yes?”
“Thank you. For everything.”
She smiled at him, trying not to laugh at the randomness of him thanking her, “No, no, thank you. My special Hunter Boy.”
