Chapter Text
Baekhyun and Kyungsoo talk for a bit until their friends come back at which point Kyungsoo notices the time and leaves the backstage area to sit in the stands with Jongdae while they wait for the competition to start. Jongdae and Kyungsoo talk quietly for about ten minutes before the announcer walks out to greet the crowd and tell them to please silence their phones.
Kyungsoo takes his phone out to put it on silent only he sees a text notification from Minseok. Kyungsoo frowns at his phone knowing Minseok shouldn’t be texting him right now. He unlocks his phone and reads the message.
“Jongdae, Jongin is missing” Kyungsoo says to his friend.
“What?” Jongdae asks.
“Minseok says he’s missing, people are looking for him but no one can find him” Kyungsoo explains “they’re going to move his team into the last spot on the schedule to buy some time but they haven’t found him.”
“Do you think something happened?” Jongdae asks.
“Yeah… me” Kyungsoo responds “I told him about the spying and he said it was fine but it didn’t feel fine and now he’s missing so I’m pretty damn sure this is my fault.”
“We need to find him” Jongdae concludes.
“Yeah let’s go” Kyungsoo says before getting up.
Both of them try to leave their seats as quickly as possible but that’s never a simple process with everyone sitting there. Once they get out though they make a b line for the backstage area, then they just start running. Kyungsoo’s not sure which green rooms belong to Jongin’s team but they’re labelled so he just looks at the labels until he finds one that says Eastview. He opens the door and sees a room similar to his friends’ green room with three very worried people, two of which he recognizes as Sehun and Junmyeon.
“Kyungsoo!” Sehun shouts.
“I’m here to help find Jongin” Kyungsoo says “do you have any information that might help.”
“Well we don’t know much, he went to go encourage the other team, came back here grabbed his phone and said he needed some water and then never came back” Sehun explains.
“Fuck” Kyungsoo whispers “I knew it was my fault.”
“Your fault?” Junmyeon asks.
“That doesn’t matter right now” Kyungsoo shakes his head “where have you guys looked and where would you go in the building if you weren’t looking to be found?”
“We checked every single green room and the hallways backstage” Sehun answers.
“I don’t know where you’d go if you didn’t want to be found but the left hallway has some random storage rooms we didn’t look through” Junmyeon explains.
“Ok” Kyungsoo nods “I’ll check there.”
Kyungsoo walks out of the room just as Jongdae walks out of a different green room for Eastview’s team.
“They don’t have much info” Jongdae explains “just that Jongin isn’t picking up his phone.”
“Yeah, I figured” Kyungsoo sighs “Junmyeon and Sehun think he might be in a storage room in the left hallway but check and see if there are any bathrooms around here, I feel like that's probably another spot he might hide in.”
“Ok” Jongdae nods.
Kyungsoo runs for the hallway Junmyeon mentioned while Jongdae goes the other way. Obviously, Jongin’s not just standing there but Kyungsoo does feel a little discouraged when he doesn’t see anything. Still, he starts his mission to start looking around. He tries opening doors but most of them are locked which also probably means Jongin isn’t in there anyway.
Kyungsoo takes a deep breath and looks around, assuming Jongin is here, he must have found a door that isn’t locked. Kyungsoo takes a second and walks slowly while looking carefully for any sign Jongin might have been here, that is until he hears something. It’s very quiet apart from the sound of the stage in the distance but there’s something, that almost sounds like someone breathing or hiccuping.
Kyungsoo carefully follows the sound to find where it’s coming from until he’s in front of a door that Kyungsoo thought led to the stage but since the sound of the announcer isn’t any louder it can’t be where it leads. Kyungsoo goes to open the door and to his surprise, it’s unlocked. He opens it and sees a dark staircase leading into even more darkness. Still, the sounds are even louder to the point where Kyungsoo can tell it’s the sound of someone crying. That is until they abruptly stop.
“Jongin?” Kyungsoo asks as he walks up the stairs.
“Leave me alone” Jongin responds with a hoarse voice.
“Not when I know this is my fault” Kyungsoo says before finding Jongin sitting at the top of the somewhat small staircase.
“It’s not your fault” Jongin says before swallowing harshly “I’m just- worried about the competition.”
“Do you really think I’d buy that lie?” Kyungsoo says before sitting beside Jongin “but I thought you said it was ok?”
“Yeah, it’s fine, I forgive you” Jongin says before wiping his eyes.
“If you forgive me, why are you crying?” Kyungsoo asks.
“I can’t cry over our relationship being a lie?” Jongin asks.
“A lie?!” Kyungsoo repeats, his eyes going wide.
“You only talked to me to get information about the choreography, you admitted that” Jongin says.
“Holy shit- I think there’s been a massive miscommunication” Kyungsoo responds.
“You said it pretty clearly” Jongin mumbles.
“I meant that’s why I went to go talk to you initially” Kyungsoo explains “but I stopped going to practice with you for that reason not too long after we started learning the duet and I stopped long before we started dating, did you really think I pretended to want to date you?”
“I don’t- I don’t know, I've been thinking for a while” Jongin sighs.
“Well stop thinking then because that isn’t true at all” Kyungsoo responds “I went over originally to get some info about what you guys were up to, yes but I didn’t want to. I was hoping no one would be there and I could leave and never come back. I didn’t want to spy, I wouldn’t have agreed if it weren’t for the fact Baekhyun only wanted to make his choreo more distinct from yours which would just have a neutral effect for both of you. I told you I was homeschooled because it’s what Baekhyun told me to do but I didn’t like lying even when I didn’t know you.”
“Then why did you?” Jongin asks.
“I don’t know- have you ever had a friend who is very good at getting their way? I figured I’d do what he wanted since it didn’t matter that much” Kyungsoo explains “then the second time we met, I already felt bad about lying because I thought we were becoming friends, which I didn’t think would happen either. So I tried to make sure you wouldn’t share any information with me so I could tell Baekhyun that it’s just not working out. Then you shared the song title and I swear to god Baekhyun can read my mind so he knew I knew and I told him.”
“The competition sent us the song list in an email though” Jongin points out.
“I know, I felt so much better when I found that out because at least I didn’t change anything” Kyungsoo nods “then you wanted to tell me about the choreo you’re going to do today and I panicked, I didn’t want to know but you sent me the video... I felt bad. I didn’t tell Baekhyun I knew about it but I still felt so dirty that the plan worked, I didn’t want it to work. Baekhyun asked me to get you to show me the choreography and even though I saw it already I told him I wasn’t going to do it. I blew up at him and yelled at him in public telling him I was done spying and I wasn’t going to help.”
“Really? You yelled at him in front of people?” Jongin asks.
“Yeah, it wasn’t right, I didn’t want to take advantage of you” Kyungsoo responds “I didn’t talk to him after that... or anyone, I didn’t talk to you because I still felt guilty. I probably also had some romantic feelings I was working through but I think it was mostly guilt. The rest of my friends sat with Baekhyun at lunch so I just hid in the music room and wallowed in my guilt. Jongdae eventually found me and talked it out with me. Baekhyun felt really bad too, he apologized to me and encouraged me to keep being friends with you. It took time but I reached out to you even though I felt bad because when I saw you in the grocery store I knew how much I was hurting you by ignoring you.”
“Yeah I didn’t like it” Jongin nods sadly.
“After that, I still felt bad about lying but I was happy to go to the party with you and... kiss you and have you as my boyfriend and to start dancing together again” Kyungsoo says with a small smile “things felt good, but I hated lying so I had to tell you the truth eventually. I was expecting you to yell at me, get mad or maybe cry but you said it was fine and I don’t know... I guess I convinced myself you meant it.”
“We should have talked more” Jongin says finally.
“Yeah probably” Kyungsoo nods “but let’s not make that mistake again, are you actually ok with this?”
“It still hurts a bit but hearing the whole story helps, knowing most of it was real also helps a lot” Jongin agrees.
“Jongin, I never meant for this to happen” Kyungsoo says putting a hand on Jongin’s cheek “but... I think I’m happy you were there that day and I didn’t just turn around and go home because it meant I got to know you.”
“I’m happy about that too” Jongin nods “and knowing you stood up for me against your friend... I like that. It couldn’t have been easy so I appreciate it.”
“I couldn’t have lived with myself if I didn’t” Kyungsoo says honestly “anyway, I would talk to you for hours but you have a competition to win and your teammates are all panicking.”
“Oh right” Jongin nods before standing up “... you really want me to win?”
“Don’t tell my friends” Kyungsoo says before also standing up “but yes, I’m rooting for you. I’d be happy either way but after what I’ve put you through, you deserve first place.”
“Would it be too cheesy if I said I’ve already won?” Jongin smiles.
“Probably” Kyungsoo smiles lightly before leaning up to give Jongin a quick kiss “plus I made you cry, I don’t think I’m much of a prize.”
“You are to me” Jongin responds seriously before holding Kyungsoo’s hands “I was only crying because I thought I lost you.”
“If I faked wanting to be in a relationship with you I would have earned myself an express ticket to hell” Kyungsoo says while averting eye contact, he feels bad enough for what he’s actually done by lying to Jongin “I wouldn’t be worth crying over.”
“But you didn’t” Jongin says before dropping Kyungsoo’s hands in favour of gently putting a finger on Kyungsoo’s chin to get him to look at Jongin again “it was just a misunderstanding and I’m not crying anymore so don’t beat yourself up, ok?”
“Why does it sound like you’re the one comforting me when I hurt you?” Kyungsoo asks.
“Because I understand how complicated it was and I know you didn’t have bad intentions” Jongin answers “and I don’t want you to hurt yourself over this.”
“I’ll try not to” Kyungsoo nods “but I really need to get you back to your team.”
“Do we have time for just one kiss first?” Jongin asks.
“One” Kyungsoo says sternly.
“So no time for seven heavenly minutes” Jongin jokes.
“You’re pushing it” Kyungsoo says, raising an eyebrow.
“Ok ok” Jongin says quickly before leaning in to press his lips against Kyungsoo’s.
The kiss isn’t exactly chased but they could both use a passionate kiss to heal the pain they still feel even though they’ve talked things out. Although the kiss is passionate, it doesn’t last very long and Jongin pulls away only to lean in and kisses Kyungsoo quickly a second time.
“Nuh-uh” Kyungsoo says putting a hand on Jongin’s chest “that was two.”
“Damn but after the competition we’ll have time?” Jongin asks.
“Yeah” Kyungsoo chuckles at Jongin’s excitement “now let’s go.”
Jongin grabs one of Kyungsoo’s hands and quickly leads them both down the stairs and out of the dark stairwell before he starts running in the hall and Kyungsoo has to run pretty quickly to keep up the pace. Since when is Jongin a sprinter? He’s a dancer, not a cross-country runner. Kyungsoo does appreciate that Jongin is being quick though because he’s worried about when his team needs to be ready to walk on stage.
Kyungsoo thought Jongin would let him go before talking to his team and Kyungsoo would make his way to his seat but Jongin pulls him into the greenroom.
“Jongin!” Sehun cheers loudly and the rest of the team joins in once they notice him.
“Hey sorry about disappearing on you but I’m back” Jongin says to the team “when do we have to be out there?”
“The sooner the better but we have been moved to the last position on the schedule so we have at least a few minutes” Junmyeon explains.
“Ok well then I’ll make this short” Jongin says “this is my boyfriend Kyungsoo, he found me.”
“I’ve met them already” Kyungsoo whispers.
“Oh” Jongin smiles.
“Where were you?” Sehun asks.
“Uh” Jongin says as his smile drops “I’ll tell you about it later, we should probably get ready.”
“Then you’ll need to let go of your boyfriend unless he’s jumping on stage” Sehun chuckles.
“Fine” Jongin pouts before letting go of Kyungsoo’s hand.
“Good luck everyone” Kyungsoo says happily.
Kyungsoo starts walking towards the door that leads to the seating area. Apparently wherever the dancers have to go is another direction because they walk the opposite way. Kyungsoo runs into Jongdae on his walk back and lets him know Jongin is back with his team so they can stop looking for him. Kyungsoo explains a bit of what happened but soon enough they need to be quiet because they’re walking into the performance hall. They take their seats again and are relieved to find out they only missed two performances and neither was their school.
Jongdae and Kyungsoo enjoy watching all the different performances but when the host announces their school’s team will be performing next, they get very excited. When their friends walk on stage they both cheer as loudly as possible and for Jongdae that is pretty loud. They quiet down the second the music starts though and watch in awe.
Kyungsoo has watched his friends dance before, of course he has, but now that he has some experience with it, it feels even more amazing to see what they’re capable of. The team starts in three lines of three and the second the beat hits, some of them drop in sync while the others pose.
That theme continues for a while with the song, it has a strong beat and almost an electric sound to it although Kyungsoo is fairly sure this is still considered hip hop. Most of the dance is a lot of sharp and fast movements and it’s impressive how precise they are. Kyungsoo’s favourite part has to be near the bridge, where they all start making shapes with their arms, it’s so quick but perfect how they line up. They even make their school logo at the end. It continues on like that until the end when they hold their ending pose and the lights fade.
Jongdae and Kyungsoo get up to cheer again and Kyungsoo hopes their team scores highly but he’s still hoping for Jongin’s team to win first place... still, it’ll be hard, this was an incredible performance.
There are two more schools that perform before it’s finally Jongin’s school. Kyungsoo’s heart rate speeds up as he sees Jongin walk out, he can’t help the smile that spreads across his face. He’s both proud and a little worried for Jongin, he wants this to go perfectly.
The music starts and Kyungsoo instantly remembers when he saw Jongin do this dance alone. He might have watched the video with the whole group too but the memory of Jongin right in front of him is a little more impactful. Kyungsoo tries to watch the whole team but of course, his eyes wander over to Jongin more often than not. When Jongin is in the center, Kyungsoo feels so proud of him, he really shines. Kyungsoo feels sad when the song ends, wanting to watch Jongin dance for a lot longer but he still jumps out of his seat to give him a standing ovation.
“I bet you wish you could run up on stage with him” Jongdae teases.
“What- no” Kyungsoo responds but he is embarrassed because he might have had that thought.
“Really?” Jongdae smirks.
“Why? Is that what you thought when you saw Minseok?” Kyungsoo raises an eyebrow.
“Guilty” Jongdae laughs.
Once Jongin’s team walks off the stage there’s a small intermission when the judges are going to pick the winner. They have a professional dance crew come out and perform to entertain the crowd and they’re really good but of course, Kyungsoo prefers his friends and Jongin a bit more. Finally, the host walks back on stage to announce the winners.
“Every team here did such an incredible job but only the top three will be moving onto the finals” the host says into the microphone “so without further adieu, in third place... Ulysse Prep! Congratulations, you're making it to the finals!”
Everyone cheers and the Ulysse Prep team starts jumping in celebration, Kyungsoo is happy but a little nervous, with third place out of the way, Eastview and Westview have to get both second and first place for them to move on.
“Ok moving onto second place” the host says “congratulations to Westview High! You did amazing!”
“Yes!” Jongdae shouts loudly at the same time as their team starts celebrating and Kyungsoo can hear Baekhyun screaming all the way from the stage.
Kyungsoo shares their enthusiasm although this does make him very nervous about Jongin. Either they win first place or they’re disqualified. Kyungsoo thinks they deserve first place but he’s sadly not one of the judges so his opinion means very little.
“Alright, finally, in first place, the last team that will be moving on...” the host starts and Kyungsoo literally moves to the edge of his seat “Eastview High!”
Kyungsoo and Jongdae cheer right away and Kyungsoo feels a wave of relief wash over him. If Jongin’s team didn’t win Kyungsoo would have always questioned if what he did to Jongin threw him off his game but now everything is fine.
Confetti is released on the stage as Jongin’s team starts celebrating excitedly and not a second later, Baekhyun, Yixing and Minseok rush over to celebrate with them. Kyungsoo feels so much happier seeing them all celebrating together. Not too long later, the rest of the teams all start to mingle on stage and congratulate each other on their performances until the light fades down to let them know it’s time to get off the stage.
Jongdae and Kyungsoo wait a little bit before leaving along with everyone else and then in the chaos they sneak backstage. When Kyungsoo finds Jongin, Baekhyun is profusely apologizing but Jongin doesn’t seem upset so it’s nice to see they’re on good terms. All the dancers are hanging out in the halls and it's nice to talk to them, not only their friends but the other teams too. Even though some of them lost they’re still very friendly although eventually it’s time to leave and Kyungsoo smiles knowing Jongin will drive him home so he doesn’t have to say goodbye just yet.
“So... if you are going to real school, how do you come to see me after school when we’re on different ends of the town?” Jongin asks as he unlocks his car.
“My school lets out before yours” Kyungsoo explains.
“Lucky” Jongin laughs as he opens the car door.
“Yeah well I think we start sooner so I’d like yours better” Kyungsoo responds.
“Good point, I already hate waking up when I wake up” Jongin chuckles “do you have any time on Monday to dance or will the first time I see you be at the recital?”
“The recital that’s in three days?” Kyungsoo smiles “I think I might need to practice my song some more so I think you’ll have to wait until then.”
“Damn” Jongin responds.
“I think you’ll survive” Kyungsoo jokes.
“Survive your voice? I don’t know, I already like your talking voice to a ridiculous degree” Jongin admits.
“Really? You like my voice?” Kyungsoo asks.
“Are you kidding? It’s so deep and warm, when you first spoke to me I thought I might melt into a puddle of goo, lucky for me I spit out something coherent because that would have been embarrassing” Jongin smiles.
“Well don’t melt when I start singing” Kyungsoo chuckles.
“No promises” Jongin jokes.
~=+•+=~
Kyungsoo feels like he blinked and time flew by but he’s already trying to control his breathing as he’s called on stage to perform the song he’s been practicing for a while. He hears his name and the crowd starts clapping as Kyungsoo walks to the microphone in the middle of the stage. The music teacher hits play on the instrumental of Kyungsoo’s song and the slow notes played by an electric guitar are projected into the audience.
Kyungsoo can’t see the audience very well with the lights that are on him but he knows his parents, Jongin and Minseok are sitting out there. While his main focus is to sing this perfectly, he would like to see where they’re sitting if he can.
The second it’s time for Kyungsoo to sing, he lets the words flow out the way he has hundreds of times.
“Late night, I pursue the time. I hurry, hurry, hurry” Kyungsoo sings, trying to maintain the perfect energy for this song “It's not too late, I run to you. The slow-flowing day is speeding up.”
Kyungsoo continues to sing, closing his eyes and losing himself in the song a bit. He feels himself feeling the emotions of the song in his chest. He can picture the scene clearly, it’s night, the stars are out and he’s walking down a stone walkway in a city that’s full of life except in this small area where everything feels peaceful. There’s a beautiful breeze and then he sees someone.
“The night sky, the starlight, your eyes. Everything I see with my eyes, that's just my love” Kyungsoo sings before opening his eyes and being reminded he’s actually in front of a decent crowd of people “that’s just my love, that's just my love.”
Just as Kyungsoo sings those words he makes eye contact with Jongin and time seems to stand still. Despite the harsh light, he can see the look of adoration on Jongin's face and Kyungsoo feels like the luckiest person on the planet to have been able to have earned that look. Even with the mistakes he’s made and the lies he kept, Jongin still looks at him like he’s the most precious person in the world and Kyungsoo hopes the words he’s singing make Jongin feel the exact same way.
“I want to walk with you” Kyungsoo sings “baby that's just my love, love yeah.”
Kyungsoo sings the rest of the song without moving his eyes once away from Jongin. Kyungsoo knows he had this song selected before he even met Jongin but right now in this moment, every word he sings is for Jongin.
“The night sky, the starlight, your eyes, everything I see with my eyes” Kyungsoo sings before pausing the way he’s practiced for the song “...is beautiful.”
The audience all start clapping and Kyungsoo watches Jongin’s face go from being completely in awe to a smile spreading across his face as he starts clapping. Kyungsoo then lets his eyes roam around the audience and notices Minseok is sitting beside Jongin so he smiles at him before finding his parents in the crowd to smile at them as well but soon enough he has to walk off the stage to let someone else up.
Kyungsoo waits behind the stage until the recital ends and he can go find Jongin to talk to him. By the time Kyungsoo walks over, everyone is standing up and mingling, enjoying some of the little snacks the school provides. Kyungsoo finds Jongin pretty quickly, he’s talking to Minseok which makes sense since they sat together.
“Hey” Kyungsoo says happily before tapping Jongin’s shoulder.
“Oh hey” Jongin smiles at Kyungsoo “you were incredible.”
“Thank you” Kyungsoo smiles back “I see you are unmelted.”
“Physically yes but mentally I was gone” Jongin responds.
“I know I saw” Kyungsoo smirks.
“I told you he was looking at you” Minseok joins in.
“You didn’t know?” Kyungsoo asks Jongin.
“I thought you might just be looking in that direction” Jongin explains.
“I was looking at you” Kyungsoo says softly.
“Where’s Jongdae?” Minseok asks.
“He should be out soon, he was just talking to the teacher” Kyungsoo explains “so you guys sat together?”
“Yeah, I recognized him so we talked for a bit and realized we were here for the same reason” Jongin nods.
“Here to watch our boyfriends” Minseok smiles and Kyungsoo is really happy for him and Jongdae.
“Hi” Jongdae says from behind Kyungsoo before walking up and giving Minseok a soft kiss “it feels good to have that done finally.”
“Yeah now there’s just weeks of studying music history” Kyungsoo sighs.
“Apparently we have most songs we need to practice and present but it’ll be more lowkey and just in class” Jongdae says.
“Oh thank god I did not want the rest of the semester to be nothing but history” Kyungsoo responds.
“Am I the only one who likes history?” Minseok chuckles.
“Yes” Jongdae says before kissing Minseok’s cheek “but I still like you.
“Jongdae!” A voice calls from the distance.
“Looks like it’s time to talk to my parents” Jongdae chuckles “ready to do it as my boyfriend for the first time?”
“Ready as I’ll ever be” Minseok smiles before walking away with Jongdae leaving the other couple alone.
“Well just us now” Jongin says before holding Kyungsoo’s hands “I can tell you just how attractive your voice is.”
“Please no, I don’t want to blush” Kyungsoo responds before leaning his head on Jongin’s shoulder to hide his face.
Jongin lets go of Kyungsoo’s hands in favour of wrapping his arms around Kyungsoo’s shoulders to hug him lightly.
“But then how will you know just how gorgeous your voice is?” Jongin whispers “I mean if I thought your talking voice was hot, your singing voice is a whole other ballgame.”
“Shh” Kyungsoo shushes him but a smile creeps on his face “I don’t deserve it.”
“Are you kidding? Of course you deserve it” Jongin responds.
“I lied to you and hurt you” Kyungsoo mumbles.
“Kyungsoo, I’m fine” Jongin answers.
“You said you were hurt” Kyungsoo points out.
“Because I was but I thought about it some more and I don’t know how I would have handled it if I was in your position” Jongin explains “and I know it didn’t change anything with our relationship so I don’t feel hurt anymore.”
“Are you sure?” Kyungsoo asks before pulling away to see Jongin’s face.
“Yeah” Jongin says sincerely “and even if I had any kind of pain, seeing you sing that song while looking into my eyes... how could I ever worry about it?”
“I hope it felt the way it feels when I watch you dance” Kyungsoo says softly.
“I can’t know if it’s the same but it was breathtaking” Jongin responds.
“Then it’s probably the same” Kyungsoo nods.
“Well I feel very powerful now” Jongin smiles.
“You should” Kyungsoo nods before leaning in to kiss Jongin gently.
“So... I was wondering since Jongdae’s parents are here” Jongin starts “...are your parents here?”
“They are...” Kyungsoo nods “I haven’t exactly told them about you yet... did you tell your parents?”
“Yeah before we left for the competition actually” Jongin explains “they wondered why I was only going with you and I couldn’t think of an excuse... is that ok?”
“Ye-yeah! For sure” Kyungsoo says a little nervously “then I guess I should tell my parents now.”
“If you want” Jongin answers.
“No, if your parents know, mine should too” Kyungsoo says more confidently.
“Should know what?” Kyungsoo’s dad asks while walking up.
“Oh!” Kyungsoo exclaims in shock as he turns to face his parents.
“You were amazing by the way” Kyungsoo’s mom smiles “I think you’ll get a wonderful grade or at least you should.”
“Thank you” Kyungsoo says, trying to calm himself a bit.
“What should we know?” Kyungsoo’s dad asks again.
“Uh right ok” Kyungsoo says taking a deep breath “this is Jongin.”
“I know, I’ve met him, remember honey?” Kyungsoo’s mom says.
“Yes” Kyungsoo nods “but now he’s my boyfriend.”
Both his parents look at the two of them for a moment and Kyungsoo has no idea what to make of that reaction.
“I told you I was right” Kyungsoo’s dad smiles.
“I was simply saying that we should listen to our son when he says he’s straight and not assume-” Kyungsoo’s mom responds.
“I wasn’t assuming, I saw them ki-” Kyungsoo’s dad argues.
“You saw that?” Kyungsoo asks, feeling exposed.
“I’m not blind” Kyungsoo’s dad answers.
“We’re happy for you of course” Kyungsoo’s mom smiles “I don’t know Jongin that well but he seemed very kind.”
“He is” Kyungsoo smiles.
“It’s nice to meet you Mr. Do and to see you again Mrs. Do” Jongin says in a way that makes Kyungsoo want to kiss him for being so sweet.
“You too Jongin” Mrs. Do smiles “how long have you two been together?”
“After the party” Kyungsoo jumps in to avoid lying without clearly stating that he stayed at Jongin’s place while dating.
Jongin, Kyungsoo and his parents continue to talk for a while and Kyungsoo is really happy that he told his parents. It feels so nice to know they love Jongin and know the truth now, he thought they would be supportive but to hear them actually say it and to see their smiles makes it so much better. Kyungsoo feels happy and like everything is finally the way it should be.
The end.
