Chapter Text
James stared out the window, twirling his wand. A dreamy smile was on his face as he watched the rain beat on the windows. Sirius was laughing with Remus about something. He draped himself across his boyfriend's lap, looking up at Remus all lovey dovey. And Remus was also smiling at his boyfriend as he took a bite of chocolate.
Peter was the one to notice that James was on Cloud 9. He throws a pillow at him.
"Oi! Prongs! Who ya thinkin' 'bout?" He asked.
Sirius sat up and Remus looked disappointed that Sirius was no longer lying on him.
"Evans." He teased.
"He shouldn't. Last I checked Lily was dating Mary." Remus said, biting his chocolate.
"I don't like Lily anymore. I decided to let her go." James said and sighed.
"Uh oh. We lost him." Remus said, looking at his best friend.
Sirius sighed. "Who is she?" He asked.
James didn't realise what Sirius had said, still lost on Cloud 9. "The prettiest of them all. A star amongst the asteroids."
"James Potter being poetic? Pads what is happening?" Remus looked at James with surprise.
"What's happening is we lost Prongs to some girl." Peter said.
James sighed. "Hair black as the night and eyes, silver and bright." His dreamy smile grew even more dreamy as he melts onto his bed.
"Prongs. I'm a girl. Besides, if it's a bloke you like I'm sorry but I'm taken." Sirius said.
James didn't listen. He hugged his wand close to his chest and closed his eyes, lying down. Remus and Peter exchanged looks of pure panic.
A little while later and James was walking down the hall with Sirius. He pushed Sirius, laughing about something. He looked up and immediately stopped. Regulus Black was walking his way, rather quickly. His nose was buried in a book. The dreamy look appears on James's face again and he flattens his hair.
"Good evening Regulus." James greeted when Regulus walked past him.
Regulus stopped and looked up at James with a look. "Piss off Potter." He said and continued walking.
James turned to a very angry and very surprised Sirius. "He looked at me!" He squealed. "I can hear the wedding bells!"
"No. That's the bells of a mistletoe hanging over your head." Sirius pointed and James looked up.
He smiled even brighter. "This is a sign. Regulus and I are meant to be!"
Sirius clenched his jaw and he watched his best friend skip in the direction Regulus went. James skipped beside Regulus, ignoring the look of annoyance on Regulus's face.
"So, we have a game on Friday. My House VS your House." James said.
"Okay." Regulus replied with a roll of his eyes.
"You know, you're so pretty." James complimented with a smile.
"Piss off Potter." Regulus growled.
"Aww. C'mon Reggie-"
Regulus dropped his books and shoved James onto a wall, putting his wand to his throat. "I am *not* your Reggie. I am Regulus Black. I am the son of Walburga Black and Orion and I am *not* like my brother. Leave me alone and don't come anywhere near me. Or else."
All James did was smile and melt at the sound of Regulus's threat. "I'd let you do anything to me." He whispered.
Regulus clenched his jaw and a flash of bright light appeared, blinding James. When the white light disappeared James was on the floor, his arm and wrist broken and blood dripping out of his nose. Sirius walked to him, helping James up.
"Come on. I'll take you to Madam Pomfrey." Sirius muttered, slowly walking to the hospital wing.
"He was so beautiful threatening me."
Sirius sighed. "If you weren't hurt I'd have punched you for saying that."
"And that spell." James tilted his head to the side, blushing. "I'd let him strangle me."
"Gross." Sirius mumbled, glaring at a group of Slytherins watching them.
"I'd let him stab me." James murmured, still smiling.
"Even worse." Sirius made a look of disgust and walked into the hospital wing.
Madam Pomfrey looked up from the student she was treating and sighed disappointedly at the state of James.
"Miss Evans again?" She asked and Sirius shook his head.
"Nope. My brother actually." Sirius put James on a bed and stepped back, letting Madam Pomfrey do her thing. "He decided to flirt with my brother. So... Can you fix his nose so I can punch him?"
"Absolutely not Mr Black!" Madam Pomfrey yelled, looking at Sirius. "Violence will not solve your friend's infatuation with Regulus."
Sirius rolled his eyes, grumbling under his breath. "Whatever. I'm going to find Remy."
James watched Sirius leave and Madam Pomfrey raised an eyebrow at the boy on the hospital bed.
"Really? Regulus Black?" She asked.
"He was so beautiful!" James whined, stretching an arm out. "He pinned me to the wall with a wand to my throat."
"Damn it Potter. You couldn't have tried to make a move on Friday? I have money on the line here." Madam Pomfrey murmured, fixing James's arm. "Horace said you'd make a move today. I said Friday. Now I have to give Horace twenty galleons."
James didn't listen to a single thing the nurse was saying. He just laughed softly. Once Madam Pomfrey had treated James she pushed him out the door.
"Don't get into anymore trouble Potter! I don't want to see you here again!"
Two days. That's all James had until the Quidditch Game to plan on what he is going to do next. On the day of the game Sirius sulked while James giddily looked Regulus. Remus had to sit on Sirius to make sure he didn't fight James, which Sirius didn't complain about.
Regulus looked up at James and scowled at him. A mistletoe was hanging over his head, jingling and showering red glitter over him. The glitter coated his hair. Meanwhile, the mistletoe hanging over James's head was sprinkling green glitter on his hair. James winked at Regulus and he scowled. Regulus looked down at his food and stirred his porridge around.
James's smile fell, replaced by a worried look. "I wonder why Regulus isn't eating."
Sirius stabbed at his bacon, scowling. "Probably because someone is giving him unwanted attention." He grumbled.
"Who?" James looked at Sirius.
"Prongs. Eat." Remus said, adjusting his spot on Sirius's lap so he would be comfortable.
"Right." James ate his breakfast, talking with his mouth full. "But who's giving Reggie unwanted attention."
"Oh I don't know. Maybe it's one of my best mates." Sirius snapped, still stabbing his bacon.
James looked at Peter with a confused look. "Pete?"
"Not me!" Peter yelped, looking at James.
"Well you're the other only single one in this group. I'm interested in someone and Moony and Padfoot are dating. So why are you giving Regulus unwanted attention?"
Sirius stabbed at his bacon aggressively. Remus sighed and picked it up, narrowly avoiding getting stabbed by the fork. He puts it to Sirius's lips, but Sirius didn't eat the bacon.
"Be a good boy." Remus murmured and leaned closer to Sirius. "Or else there'd be a punishment."
"Gross." Peter and James said, looking disgusted.
The bell rang, signalling the end of breakfast and the start of Quidditch. James gets up and waves goodbye to his friends, managing to walk next to Regulus.
"Hope you have a good game!" James said, walking into the Gryffindor Changing Rooms.
The game didn't go so well for Gryffindor. James got distracted every time Regulus went near him, and the young star went near James many times. Once he brushed his fingers against James's fingers, nearly causing him to crash into the stands. When James finally scored a point was when Regulus caught the Snitch.
Slytherin erupted on the stands, screaming so loud Hagrid could've heard them from his hut. James landed on the ground, ignoring the glares from his team mates. Marlene punched James in the shoulder hard and James winced, holding his shoulder. He felt bad for being the reason Gryffindor lost.
But just as he was about to apologise to Minnie for making her lose the bet she had with Horace about the game when someone grabbed him by the shoulders roughly and turned him around. James only caught the scent of citrus and something sweet before the someone kissed him. James saw a tuft of black hair and Regulus pulled back, blushing.
He was about to pull away when James grabbed him and pulled him into another kiss. The Seeker and the Chaser kissed for a very long time, much to the disgust of Sirius, who was pretending to vomit over the sidelines. Remus was uninterested, more interested in his book. But when Peter nudged him he looked up and dropped the book he was reading with a surprised look.
Finally, they pull apart. Regulus winked as he walked away.
"Good game." He murmured. "Astronomy Tower. Midnight. Don't be late."
James watched him leave, ignoring the second punch Marlene gave him. He smiled and looked at the woman next to him.
"He kissed me." He muttered and sighed.
Marlene sighed and shook her head at Dorcas, who just rolled her eyes.
