Chapter Text
A few days after Isagi’s sleepover, he met up with his Blue Lock friends in Shibuya. To say the least, meeting them outside of Blue Lock felt surreal, almost like he forgot that outside of football, people are different.
The day was joyous, he’d never been to Shibuya before and it was a great experience, so much so the day after he took Rin to visit many of the same places he had the day prior.
Neither Isagi or Rin were huge fans of shopping but the company of one another made it worth while. After heaps of shopping and playing at the arcade they had found Nagi slacking in, they decided to settle in a cafe.
They sat on opposite sides of a table with their hands intertwined in the middle- their free hands occupying the menu as they ordered.
Rin settled for matcha tea while Isagi opted for a hand brew coffee and they shared a strawberry shortcake, it was so romantic Isagi felt himself rot, rather than just his teeth from the wonderfully sweet shortcake. It was so romantic until the cafe’s bell rang and the Blue Lock group from the day before walked in. Isagi hadn’t even checked his phone since the previous day since he was spending so much time with Rin, so he hadn’t even been aware of the groups second meet up.
Isagi prayed they wouldn’t notice him and Rin, he just wanted a peaceful day with his cute boyfriend! But alas, Bachira was in the group and spotted him in the semi-crowded cafe- Bachira could probably sniff him out from a mile away.
“Oh. HEY IT’S YOICHAN!” Bachira practically yelled across the cafe pointing straight at Isagi. Rin turned his head since his chair was facing away from the door and recognised the faces of the boys and the names of a few.
“Ah, Yoichi those are the Blue Lock guys right? Wanna invite them over?” Rin asked his boyfriend.
NO. FUCK NO. Isagi desperately wanted the day to be exclusively about Rin and himself but the sheer spark of curiosity in Rin’s eyes while looking at the boys made him give in, “If you want to Rin.”
Isagi waved at the lot, who rushed over greeting him, before their eyes turned to Rin and then the pairs’ joint hands on the table. Bachira’s mouth turned to an ‘O’, being the only one who knew of Isagi’s relationship. But to avoid awkwardness, jumped to introduce himself first, “HELLO! I’m Bachira Meguru and Isagi is my good buddy from Blue Lock! What’s your name?”
Obviously, Bachira already knew who he was but he had to start conversation one way or another, and his monster said this was the best course of action.
“Hello, My name is Itoshi Rin but I’d prefer if you just called me Rin, I’m Isagi’s boyfriend.” He smiled softly at the group, who slowly gaped and looked at him.
It was Aiku who spoke, he was added to the group chat despite being rivals on field previously, “As in Sae’s little brother? He talked about you a few times.”
Rin smiled at the older man, thinking about his repairing relationship with Sae, “Yes he is. You were on his team right? With the weird looking guy.”
Aiku nodded and was about to reply but he was cut off by Otoya.
“So little egoist, you bagged an Itoshi. Gotta say my respect for you has suddenly increased a tenfold.” Otoya spoke next, introducing his pennies worth, nudging Isagi’s shoulder playfully.
Aryu flipped his hair and dramatically sighed, “I could never guess how some as unglam as Isagi courted someone as glamorous as you!”
Isagi outwardly sighed, but inwardly agreed with Aryu. He was one lucky guy.
It was Barou who asked about football, because of course it was, “Don’t you play football? Bowl cut bastard mentioned you at the very start of the programme.”
Rin shifted his gaze to Isagi, not sure who this ‘bowl cut bastard’ was. Isagi just mouthed ‘Ego’, to Rin’s surprise. He hadn’t been aware he was mentioned and he couldn’t recall Isagi mentioning it but he answered the other man’s question anyway.
“Eh, I play it from time to time- not as much as I used to. But I was mentioned?”
The man he remembered as Yukimiya, who was more attractive in person than he was in his modelling pictures, answered, “Yes, he had just commented on how good of a player you are and that you had rejected the offer. I’m Yukimiya Kenyu, nice to meet you.”
“Oh it’s nice to meet all of you as well.” Rin replied.
Reo curiously looked at them before speaking up, “How did you guys meet? Reo Mikage by the way.” He swiftly shook Rin’s free hand to which Rin reciprocated.
Rin fondly recalled the memory, “I know who you are, but, me and Isagi met almost a year ago on a football field near my house. He had a training program with his school and the facility used a field next to the one I use.”
“True love!” Bachira exclaimed loudly, eyes gleaming with joy at the couple. “Also your eyelashes are SUPER long, you and your brother must have hit the genetic lottery!” Bachira’s mouth was shaped into an ‘O’ once again and poked Rin’s face. It unsettled the other teammates because, well, Bachira is literally poking Itoshi Sae’s little brother on his face, and stretching it!
But Rin just smiled up at him while his face was being stretched by very sweaty hands. Isagi squealed in his mind but kept his composure, hoping that his teammates would depart soon so he could relax with his boyfriend. But of course, that could never happen.
Aiku, who had been adopted into the group during the prior karaoke session, extended an arm to Rin, “Do you guys wanna tag along as well?”
Rin’s eyes practically shimmered with hope as he turned to Isagi, discreetly. And how could Isagi say no to that face? “For sure…”
Bachira, now behind Rin’s chair, hung off his broadish shoulders and let out a high pitched noise of celebration as Isagi got the last few deserts him and Rin purchased moved to the bigger table they all sat at.
Isagi, although in the presence of his friends and technically colleagues, still attempted to make this date as romantic as he could.
Despite the boys still bombarding Rin with questions at the cafe, Isagi stoked his thigh under the table as he watched Rin talk, sharing a cinnamon roll with him. Rin, in his typical messy mannerisms, smudges icing just below his mouth as he easily explained his inclination to learning English, even getting ragebaited by Bachira’s mispronunciation of Tuesday.
Isagi, the stellar boyfriend he is, removed the sweet stain upon Rin’s face with his thumb and licked what he had removed, receiving a small smile from Rin. By no means was it some big action- it wasn’t like he licked it off directly- but it still garnered reactions round the table. Smirks, snickers, or wide eyes at Isagi’s boldness.
Of course, the voice that took dominance was Barou’s, the hygiene nut, “Ew, that was as gross as this sloth.” Directing his gaze to Nagi, who was otherwise distracted by Reo and his phone, wishing to gain the other man’s attention.
“Huh? What happened?” Yep, Nagi was not in the conversation at all.
Chigiri’s smirk widened as a snicker came on, “Isagi’s basically swapping spit with Rin, what a total lack of table etiquette…” His face took a sudden 180 and took a disappointed look.
”Yeah Isagi, I expected better…” Bachira shook his head playing into Chigiri’s obvious joke, clowning Isagi.
Rin’s face heated up slightly as he turned to face away from the table, concealing his red countenance, and Isagi scrambled in his seat; everyone round the table either laughed or joined the mockery of Isagi, “Hey, it’s totally normal to do that stuff with your partner!”
As the tail end of the laughter dropped, Aiku looked at Rin again, “You know little Itoshi, I wasn’t expecting you to be so different from your older bro.”
“Hm, we’ve not always been different…” Rin’s voice carried a detached lilt towards the end of his speech, which no one else but Isagi picked up on.
Gently, Isagi caressed his thigh and looked at him, knowing the blank slate him and his brother created didn’t erase the eroded history it held. Rin reciprocated, placing his hand over Isagi’s and nodding as he reached to sip at his drink.
It seems like Bachira also sensed a tension in Rin, wanting to redirect the conversation he took the role of bigmouth, “Did you know Isagi has a thigh fetish?”
Isagi’s jaw fell in sync with Rin choking on his tea as Bachira’s statement cut through and fragmented conversations from the table, instead a pin drop could be heard before insane laughter erupted around the table, even Nagi and Barou chuckling at the embarrassment that wrote itself across Isagi’s tomato toned face as Rin deadpanned at him, mortified but not fully surprised.
Rin only perpetuated further laughter in resigning himself, “So much makes a lot more sense now...”
Isagi then sat through an arduous hour of humiliation at the hands of both his boyfriend and (ex(not really)) friends, rather than questions aimed at Rin. But seeing Rin even enjoying himself after the darkness of Sae’s storm, he didn’t mind.
He was so, very lucky.
