Chapter Text
So Thor now knew about her and Loki being whatever they were. Was she in love with him? Jane didn’t know the answer to that quite yet but she felt something strong with him as if there was some sort of compass leading her towards him 24/7 even without her consent. Did she care about him? She took a deep breath out, the answer was right in front of her, yes. Jane thought of this while walking out to the car that was parked outside her building as the plight of anxiety hit her in waves when she felt as if someone was watching her.
She sped up her pace but just when her fingers grazed the door handle of the Range Rover that was technically not hers, she felt someone grab her from behind. Now Jane wasn’t a master expert on what to do when someone is trying to kidnap you, but she did take a self-defense class 3 years ago, which she of course slept through because she was working on a breakthrough experiment. She was currently cursing herself for switching channels every time the infomercial on how to survive a kidnapping came on.
Jane screamed, loudly. “Shut up you little pussy.” A muffled man's voice growled behind her.
At this, she screamed even louder. “Get. Off. Of. Me.” She shouted while desperately trying to back kick the heck out of this dude.
He shook her so that her head banged up against the car several times, dammit. “Ya think so? Well, I guess you aren’t gonna like this very much, princess.” He spat when he suddenly brought up a wet cloth to her nose.
Oh hell no buddy! This shit ain’t happening to me! Just don’t breathe in, don’t breathe in, don’t breathe in, don’t- why is everything getting darker? Shit, she breathed in. The last thing she felt was the guy shoving her into a van before everything went completely pitch black.

Thor made his way through Loki’s private kitchen, “Do you know where Jane is?” Thor asked
Loki rolled his eyes at this while going back to cutting an onion. “She’s at work, now shove off.” He grumbled.
“She ought to have come back by now.” Thor huffed as he grabbed a glass cup and filled it with water.
Loki slammed down the knife he was using on the counter angrily. “Dammit, oaf! I remember her telling me earlier that she wouldn’t stay after closing hours today.”
Thor raised an eyebrow at this, “If you knew, dear brother, then why are you not worried?” He questioned, pausing to take a sip.
Loki quickly snatched the glass from Thor’s hand. “Of course I am worried, why do you think I have been endlessly focusing on cutting a singular onion for the past hour!” He said in frustration as he sent the glass crashing to the ground.
“Loki.”
Nothing. Loki ignored him and continued to throw things in frustration.
Thor pressed even further. “Loki, we need to search for Jane!”
Loki paused mid-way through smashing a vase. “We both know from past events that this is a trap, but nevertheless I, as midgardians, like to say ‘don’t give a flying shit’ anymore.” He snapped
Thor gave an impatient look. “So will we search for Jane or not?” He questioned
At this, Loki glared irritatedly “Yes, Jane may be clever but she lacks the physical training to make it out of Malekith’s lair alive.” He sighed.
Loki stormed out of his kitchen with a fever. He was knowledgeable enough to know exactly what Malekith’s lair was like from the times he used to trade with him. How exactly Jane landed herself in this situation was beyond him. Malekith’s lair was not a place that a regular Midgardian could ever get out of, let alone an Asgardian. Their measly excuse of a relationship has only attracted the press, yet he could not find it in him to let her go.
Thor followed him out of the kitchen, and Loki turned to look at him. "Take my hand dear brother, we are going to attempt this the fun way!" Loki laughed maniacally.
Thor rolled his eyes at this. "Must you really do this Loki? Know what fine it is, a speedier ride.” He relented and took Loki’s hand. At this, Loki materialized into his armor and within a few seconds, they were off, the world becoming a blurred series of scrambled eggs inside a tube.
After a few seconds, they materialized in an alleyway. The loud sounds of the big city filled both their senses.
Thor crouched on the ground heaving heavily, “Remind me to never oblige you to that ever again.” He heaved out while trying to gain his composure.
Loki snorted at this, “Brother that is what you spurred out last time.” He said while rolling his eyes. Loki looked down at Thor and turned around, “Now let us head on to our desired location,” He smirked.
Thor gave Loki an exasperated look. “Wait, praise Odin Loki, let me catch up!” He said as he started running after his brother.
Loki walked a little slower to accommodate his insolent brother. He led them both out of the dark alleyway and into the street. His brother would not be able to know where exactly Malekith’s lair is as he has never transpired face to face with him. It was a dangerous and dark place that only the most desperate of beings would venture down to, not saying that he was desperate himself, he would describe himself more as what midgardians like to call ‘opportunistic’. Aside from Malekith being an out-of-world, particle-filled creepy dark elf, Malekith additionally controls most of the drug cartel here on Midgard. That was exactly why he used to do business with the being.
Loki finally stopped in front of a library, “Ably dear brother this is our destination.”
Thor stopped, with a confused look in his eyes, “This is our…stop? So you're telling me that Malekith’s lair is in a mere public library?”
Loki snorted at this, “Daft as always, can you not feel it?” He said this as he made his way up the steps. The mere illusion of it cracking at his feet. He pulled open the door, cracking the illusion with his hands. The scene of a library quickly changed to something different. “Here it is, brother, our one-way ticket to the very opposite of Valhalla,” Loki grinned.
Thor exhaled loudly, “Odin’s beard Loki, you really are insane.” He said
Loki smirked at this while still holding the door out. “That is exactly why they gave me the company.” He laughed maniacally.
Thor rolled his eyes, “Are we saving Jane or not?” He questioned
Loki gave Thor a dead look. “That we are.” He said as he magically threw Thor inside the dead hole, him shortly following afterward.
The sound of screams could be heard from well across the city…
