“So, what do you think our child will be?”
Aine laid on the marital bed undressed, one hand over her eyes and one protectively on her stomach. The light in the bedroom had been dimmed and the curtains closed, only small amounts of afternoon sun seeped through the windows. Yugiri had been halfway through changing into house clothes when Aine finally made a noise in response.
“I don’t really care about the sex, to be honest. I just want a safe delivery.” The pink haired Au Ra admitted, her lips becoming fuzzy as though she were to throw up again, “I know how to raise a girl because of raising Leni basically all her life, but I haven’t a clue about a baby boy at all. My father only had girls, so many people wanted my sister to be a boy and it had put a lot of stress on my stepmother. I don’t want that for myself.”
“And who knows? Maybe our child transitions later in life? Just like I did.” Yugiri added, finding a seat next to her wife’s curled legs.
“I’d love them either way, of course.”
“And if they have disabilities like your sister?”
“Still would love them. But I’d have experience in that field, too.” Aine chuckled, moving her hand from her face. “Sickness hasn’t been fun, but I am excited to see them. And tell Leni, Alphi and Yuki.”
Yugiri hummed and positioned Aine’s legs around her, she lowered her body until her head was on her stomach. She was warm, the chirurgeon had commented on that during the appointment earlier, the appointment that revealed that Aine was pregnant after months of trying. For being still in the danger zone, the fetus’ aether was very strong, all that their mothers could ask for.
Aine sighed loudly, resting her free hand into her wife’s hair and gently passed her hand through. “What’s wrong, my dear?”
“I’m a bit worried. Not because of the baby, but how Leni is going to be.” Yugiri hadn’t considered her little sister in law’s reaction to it all. She had never been in close proximity to a baby, she was always the baby in everything. The youngest in her school class, the youngest Scion, the youngest Warrior of Light, the youngest in her family. Now she was to become an aunt, how would she take the news?
“Hmm, I hadn’t thought of that. Maybe we break it to her lightly? We have to be gentle with her, this is a big change in her life.”
“Yes, the last big change for her was when we…”
“When we kissed at her birthday party years ago, I know.” Aine chuckled at the memory- it was just before the Warriors of Light had crossed over the wall to Gyr Abania. It seemed so long ago, and now she and Yugiri were married and expecting a child.
Yugiri caressed her wife’s stomach, she wasn’t showing, not yet at least. The change could happen at any moment, there would soon be physical proof of the couple expecting, and the shinobi was admittedly excited to watch her child grow inside her wife. “How do you feel otherwise? Does anything hurt, do you feel sick?”
“I feel… okay. Once I laid down, the nausea left but my lips tingle. I should be used to it by now, but it just feels strange. Sometimes I feel like I’m not pregnant, then I get sick. It’s a constant reminder.”
Yugiri hummed once more and turned her head until her face was in Aine’s lower stomach, she nuzzled the warm skin and scales and gently placed a kiss. “Hi there, little one. We’re so excited to see you. Don’t give Mummy too much trouble, and Mama is doing her best to care for both of you.” Aine giggled and caresses her wife, warmth filling her body at the love already radiating from Yugiri towards their unborn child.
“You’re going to be a great mother.”
“And you already are one, my love.”
