Goodnight Moon

"You know, I'm just waiting to hear you say 'I told you so'," Namjoon panted, leaning against the wall as he tried to catch his breath.

Seokjin shook his head. "I'm not really sure I even have the right to say that because when I said ‘they're too young to watch Jurassic Park’, I was expecting something more along the lines of them being scared, not this," he said, gesturing to the twin six year olds in front of them.

Jimin and Taehyung were crouched on the top of their bunk bed, the quilt pulled over their heads as they peered out at their parents, occasionally emitting tiny, high-pitched growls.

"Funny, I always thought we adopted twin boys, not twin velociraptors," Namjoon said, shaking his head.

The growls from the bed morphed into giggles and Seokjin had just enough time to let out an exhausted groan before the quilt was thrown back and Jimin and Taehyung were swinging off the bed. They started charging around the room in perfectly synchronized movements, herding Seokjin and Namjoon into the middle of the room with little growls before running back around each other, Jimin leaping onto the bottom bunk of the bed and Taehyung onto the dresser.

Namjoon sighed. "They've been hunting us for almost two hours, I kind of wish they would just go ahead and eat us so I can catch my breath and go to bed."

"Taehyung, get off the dresser," Seokjin said, ignoring Namjoon in favor of frowning at Taehyung.

"He's not Taetae, Mommy, he's Raptortae," Jimin supplied helpfully from his perch the bed, Taehyung nodding in agreement.

"Well, I'm a tired Raptormom," Seokjin said, moving forward and plucking Taehyung off the dresser. "Time for baby dinosaurs to go to bed."

"No, you can't make us!" Taehyung whined, wiggling in Seokjin's grip and snapping his teeth half-heartedly at his arm.

"I'm pretty sure we can," Namjoon said, taking Taehyung from Seokjin and tossing him into the top bunk, leaving Seokjin to wrestle Jimin under the blankets of the bottom bunk.

"But we're not sleepy!" Jimin protested.

"Yes, you are," Seokjin murmured softly, tucking the blankets around Jimin's chin. "You had a long day playing with Yoongi and Jeongguk at the park."

"Kookie is a raptor too," Taehyung piped from under the blanket Namjoon had unceremoniously tossed over his head.

"And what's Yoongi?" Seokjin asked, smiling.

"A tyrannosaurs rex!" Jimin giggled as Taehyung yawned loudly above him. "He chased us a bunch, but me and Tae and Kookie won."

"That's my boys," Namjoon grinned, ruffling Taehyung's hair as he poked his head out from under the blanket.

"He fell asleep before we could eat him though," Taehyung pouted.

"Well, maybe you can eat him tomorrow," Seokjin said, reaching up to rearrange the blankets around Taehyung's shoulders.

"He gave me a piggyback ride since T. Rex's are so big," Jimin said drowsily. "And Kookie and Taetae had a race. Tae's the Raptortae, so he won."

Taehyung giggled sleepily above him, flopping one of his arms over the side of the bed for Jimin to reach up and grab, linking their fingers together.

"I have the cutest baby velociraptors," Seokjin cooed, reaching out to stroke each of the boy's heads. He felt Namjoon place a hand on the small of his back as they watched the twin's eyes slowly droop and their breathing even out.

Namjoon reached over and turned off the lamp on the bedside table as Seokjin slowly backed away from the beds. The nightlight in the corner cast a soft blue glow around the room, lulling the twins deeper into sleep.

"Remind me to listen to you next time you say they're not old enough for a movie," Namjoon whispered behind Seokjin.

Seokjin opened his mouth to reply, but was cut off by an earsplitting crash. He whirled around just in time to see Namjoon right his balance from his foot getting caught in the leg of the wooden rocker, which had caused it to crash into the side of the dresser.

"Oops," was the only thing Namjoon managed to get out before the quiet was split by a loud cry.

Seokjin looked up in time to see both boys leap out of bed and start running their synchronized circuit around the room, eyes wide and hyperactive grins on their faces.
