Chapter 1: Prologue
Mentions of murder, blood, and implied child neglect
People surrounded the outside of an unkempt mansion. Only a few days ago did the mafia found out that all the inhabitants of the mansion were gruesomely murdered. The particular famiglia were not that well known nor did they have many allies. So when they went missing, it wasn’t really noticed.
Many of the bodies had scratches and bite marks, almost like they were attacked by a wild animal. The trail of bodies led to an underground lab where many unfinished experiments were found.
Only a few select people had access to the crime scene. Amongst those people was a scientist. When he heard about the lab, he was compelled to take a look at what they were working on down there.
He weaved in and out of rooms. Looking over things and not being the slightest impressed with anything he saw. There was only one room left, and it was the farthest away from the entrance.
He entered the room with low standards. He flipped through a few files but the ‘important’ documents inside were garbage. He turned to leave the room but stopped when he heard commotion from behind.
He did notice the wall-sized safe when he entered the room, but looking at their stuff, he assumed it would be trash as well. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. Boxes and boxes of stuff were being taken out of the safe. That wasn’t the source of the commotion. In the far left corner of the safe was a cell. In the cell was … a four-year-old girl.
She was curled in a ball, farthest away from people. She was shaking lightly, her bones jutted out in places, and scars littered her arms and legs.
“What should we do with her?” a man asked.
“She needs to be questioned,” a woman answered.
“She’s only a child,” another man said.
“She is the lone survivor. There is not a single drop of blood in here or the room connected to it. She needs to be questioned,” the woman retorted.
“Will be taking her.”
The three that were arguing turned to the scientist.
The woman huffed.
“And what would you do with her?”
“Nothing?” she scoffed. “You have a mansion full of files and experiments you can take, yet you want a malnourished little girl. You’re not one known for being compassionate. You only seem to care for yourself.”
“How exactly do you expect to have an obviously traumatized girl be a witness to a crime she most likely didn’t see? If there is no blood in here or on her, she saw nothing.”
The woman narrowed her eyes at him. She didn’t think that far ahead and knew he was right.
“Give the girl to him. If she saw nothing, she’ll just be put up for adoption. Her parents and next of kin were most likely killed. This saves us time,” a commanding voice said.
“We can’t let a possible witness go, sir!” the woman complained.
“Can we really believe the word of a possibly hallucinating four-year-old?” he asked rhetorically.
The woman was silent.
The girl was obviously malnourished. The lack of food and water would cause her to hallucinate.
The woman opened her mouth but found no words.
“Fine,” she said through gritted teeth.
She and her fellow subordinates moved out of the scientist’s way. He went into the cell and reached out his hand to her.
She lifted her head. Her dark brown eyes met his stare.
She looked at the hand reached out to her then looked at the other people in the room.
She took his hand.
The scientist starting leaving the room.
The girl was shaky on her feet but still walked.
“I hope you know what you’re doing,” the leader said.
“I always do.”
The nine years with her adopted father were good to her. She was a fast learner and took to making things, much like her father. He thought she would have some form of trauma down the line but nothing had happened. She was smart and attentive, very keen on detail. Besides the outside appearance, the girl could’ve been his biological daughter.
The years passed with a few hiccups here and there. No one truly questioned how or when he obtained a daughter because nearly no one knew he even had one. However, a month after his birthday, someone contacted him about her. They wanted to question her about the events that happened nine years ago.
He didn’t trust anyone who knew he had her. He tells no one about her. The only people that would know were the people that were there. To avoid any problems, he decided to send her to Japan. He doubted they would find her, seeing as she had no birth certificates or anything.
He wasn’t sure he was making the right decision but he knew she would be safer there. At least he hoped she would be.
Chapter 2: Chapter 1: Clear Skies
Chapter 1: Clear Skies
A teenage girl looked around with mild curiosity. She was sad when she first got on the plane but she's not as sad now. She realized this wouldn't be bad for her.
I wonder why Dad decided to send me to Japan so suddenly? Why at all? A 'new start' isn't a good enough reason. I was fine with him in Italy.
The teenage girl is Isabella Gurin.
She's moving to Namimori, Japan, for reasons she is not a hundred percent sure of at the moment.
Isabella is quiet and reserved when she is with people she does not know. But since she's moving by herself, she can't be a wallflower. She's going to have to put herself out there. She vaguely remembered when she was young and had a bubbly personality but a bad run in with some bullies left her scarred.
She's never really left her father's side, let alone move to a whole new place by herself. Her father took her out of public school because of only made her more antisocial and introverted. Interacting with people isn't her thing. Now it has to be.
This could be a learning experience for me. Leaving my comfort zone can help me grow.
The plane landed and when she got her luggage, she was immediately confused. She didn't know where to go. She knew the language and the culture. She just didn't know the geographical locations.
Should … should I hail a cab? Or can I just walk from here to the house?
Isabella raised her head and looked at all the people moving around her.
Hailing a cab w- wait I have no money.
"I knew I forgot something."
"I guess I'm walking."
Isabella narrowed her eyes at the paper in front of her. The bane of her existence.
Isabella has been wondering for (she pulled out her phone and checked the time) two hours now.
She had no map of Namimori. She knew no roads, no landmarks, no nothing. The directions her father gave her were just empty words on paper.
She sighed and continued in the direction she was going. She looked away for a few minutes but that was enough time for her to bump into someone. The person fell to the ground and immediately started freaking out.
"HIIIEEE! G-gomen g-gomen. I w-wasn't paying a-attention," the high pitched voice apologized.
"No, no it's fine. I wasn't paying attention, I should be the one to apologize. I'm Isa- I mean Gurin Isabella. I nearly forgot you say the last name first in Japan," she introduced.
She extended her hand out to the boy.
"Do you need a hand?"
He glanced at her hand before grabbing it.
"I-I'm Sawada Tsunayoshi b-but you can call me T-Tsuna," he said.
Did I feel … electricity?
Isabella furrowed her eyebrows.
"Damn-Tsuna, it is very unbecoming of a mafia boss to stutter.
That is a very high pitched voice. Where is it coming from? And did it say mafia?
"HIIIIEEE!" Tsuna screamed. "Are you following me? And I'm not going to be a mafia boss."
Standing on a wall was a baby in an all black suit except for the fedora on his head. It had an orange stripe in the middle. A green chameleon rested on top of the fedora.
"Ciaossu. I'm Reborn," the baby introduced himself.
"Reborn? I've heard that somewhere … or maybe I've read it somewhere? And mafia boss?
Isabella looked at Reborn then at Tsuna.
A teenage mafia boss? That would be interesting … and problematic. Who knows, maybe he's a natural.
She shook her head and noticed that the two of them were gone.
"Where did they go?" she muttered.
She looked back down at the paper in her hand.
"Dammit, I could've asked them for directions!" she yelled.
Tsuna glanced behind him even though he could no longer see the girl.
I've never seen her before. She must have recently moved or something.
"Reborn, why did we leav-" Tsuna didn't finish his sentence.
"Ciaossu," Reborn greeted.
"Ohayo," Kyoko greeted in return.
"Is this kid your little brother?"
Tsuna nearly jumped out of his skin.
Another girl, which he has never seen before too, came out of nowhere with her question.
"U-uh, no. He's not," he replied.
A lot of new people in town. Or maybe they've been here for a while and I just never see them because … because I have no friends. Gurin-chan, this girl. Who else don't I know?
"Why are you wearing a suit?" Kyoko questioned.
"Because I'm in the mafia," was Reborn's nonchalant reply.
Don't tell Kyoko-chan that!
Tsuna promptly started to sweat. His heart picked up in speed.
"That's so cool. I have to go. Bye," Kyoko said.
She turned from them and started walking away
"Me too," the other girl added, leaving as well.
"Ciao ciao," Reborn said.
Once both the girls were out of earshot Reborn spoke up.
"You like her don't you? Kyoko?"
"What? No. She's the school idol. I can't like her. Not only do many people like her, she would never go out with someone like … If I ever got a chance to go out with her, I would die happy."
The chameleon that was resting on his hat crawled onto his hand and turned into a gun.
Isabella's eyes went wide. She looked around wildly, trying to figure out where the sound came from.
"REBORN! I WILL CONFESS TO SASAGAWA KYOKO WITH MY DYING WILL," someone in the distance yelled.
Isabella's hand shot to her chest. Her heart was beating wildly.
"Haha," she laughed nervously. "That scared the crap out of me."
Isabella miraculously found the house not too long ago. She rummaged through her bag and found the key.
She opened the door and immediately closed it behind her.
"This is now my house. Wow, thirteen and I already technically own a house."
Isabella walked over to the table. She put her bad down and let go of her suitcase.
"There's a letter."
I know that this was sudden, but know this was for your own good. Keep a lookout for suspicious people and stay out of trouble. I enrolled you in Namimori Middle starts at 8:30 am. You start Monday, June 26th. Your uniform is in your room.
Every month, you will be getting an allowance of $500. The house is being paid for so you do not need to worry about that. Try not to spend all the money at once.
I don't know when you'll be able to move back here. So make Namimori your home. Make good friends and good memories. Always remember I love you and that I want the best for you.
Isabella sniffled softly. She was trying to hold back tears.
"What am I going to do with all this money? "
She had a feeling the fridge and cabinets were empty. She got up from her seat and quickly checked.
"Yep empty. I guess it's time for me to find the shopping district," she said unenthusiastically.
Isabella groaned loudly as she placed the bags onto the floor. She's been out a lot longer than she wanted to be but it was necessary.
She had nothing in the house. She thought at least her Dad had some toiletries or something but no. She had to make multiple trips back and forth from the house to the shopping district.
Speaking of the shopping district, she got lost. Like really lost. At least a kind woman helped her find her way.
"I'm so tired."
Isabella went around her bags and went upstairs. She changed into her pajamas and laid face first on the bed.
"Ahhh!" she screamed into her blanket.
"I need to brush my teeth," she said muffled.
She got up and went to the adjoining bathroom. She stood in front of the mirror and stared at her reflection.
She stared intently at her reflection.
"I'm so unique looking," she murmured.
She had hazel eyes with purple flakes, dark, almost black, purple hair, and caramel skin.
She spat out the mouthwash and went to bed.
She snuggled up under the sheets, trying to get as comfortable as possible.
"Tomorrow starts my new is going to be interesting on Monday. All in all, I'm ready for what the world has to throw at me."
Chapter 3: Chapter 2: Mostly Sunny with a chance of Rain
Chapter 2: Mostly Sunny with a chance of Rain
Isabella narrowed her eyes at the clock that has been mocking her for hours now. She hasn’t slept a wink.
It was a few minutes after five in the morning.
“How long have I been awake for then?”
The time in Japan is eight hours ahead of Italy. Isabella furrowed her eyebrows in thought.
“If my flight was at Midnight and the flight was 12 hours but it was a bit delayed and I arrived in Japan around 10 am. I’ve been awake for … 26 hours? That doesn’t sound correct. How am I not tired though? Adrenaline? Foreign environment?”
“I’m not going to sleep anytime soon. I might as well start my day with my training. I know I’m gonna crash later. I hope I’m not too grouchy to anyone. That would be a bad first impression.”
She got out of bed and dressed to train.
She clamored downstairs and went to the kitchen. She grabbed a granola bar before going into the living room to stretch.
She stretched for a good ten minutes before leaving the house.
Isabella had been jogging lightly in the general area surrounding her house, so she didn’t get lost. She wanted to find a place to train but knew if she went too far she’ll get lost.
When she turned a corner, she heard someone coming towards her. She slowed down to a walk and prepared for the person to walk by her.
However, that didn’t happen. The person greeted her from behind.
Isabella turned to face the person approaching her.
It was a boy around the same age as her. Maybe a year or two older than her. He had slightly spiked silver hair and silver eyes.
“Ohayo,” she greeted in return.
Said boy stopped a few feet behind her. Well, he didn’t stop exactly, he was jogging in place.
He stared at Isabella with some interest.
They sat in a silence for a little while. Just staring at each other.
This is awkward.
“Umm well, I have to go bu-”
“NO! I mean wait.”
His cheeks tinged a bit red.
Isabella stopped her movements.
“U-umm. I’m S-sasagawa Ryohei,” he introduced.
“Gurin Isabella.” She said extending her hand to him.
He took it in his hand.
“Nice to meet you,” she said.
He nodded and slowly let go of her hand.
“I-I have to go. S-see you around.”
Ryohei took off down the road. You would’ve thought the devil himself was chasing him.
Isabella looked down at her hand then at the retreating form of Ryohei.
Did I feel electricity again?
Isabella shook her head.
“Back to the task at hand.”
Isabella continued jogging.
She found somewhere to train. It was quiet, secluded, and obviously deserted. However, she had to get lost to find it.
“I need to clean this place up before I even think of training.”
She decided to pile things up until she bought the necessary supplies to clean.
“Let’s get this done.”
Isabella was laid out on the grass. One knee bent, the other extended out and her arms wide. She was breathing heavily.
“I kicked my own ass,” she paused to catch her breath, “a little too hard.”
She grunted as she sat up.
“I’m gonna be sore tomorrow.”
She looked around her, enjoying the view.
“ Since I don’t have school until Monday, I can clean up this place today. I need to get some cleaning supplies."
"Guess I'm going home first."
She got off the ground, a bit shaky and prepared herself for the inevitability of her getting lost.
She reached home at an ok time. Though she did get lost like she thought she would, it wasn't for that long.
Isabella went upstairs so she can get ready.
“7:10 am. I’m not doing too bad. So, it took me two hours to do all that.”
She grabbed her towel and went to the bathroom.
Taking off her sports bra was a struggle in itself.
“Maybe I can work out after school, I don’t want to start the day off sore,” she muttered.
She took off the rest of her clothes and hopped in the shower.
Twenty minutes later, she was dressed and downstairs.
“I need to make me something to eat.”
She made herself something quick for breakfast. She sat at the table and slowly ate her food.
“It’s so quiet.”
Back in Italy, she would hear the sounds of her father working throughout the day.
“I should probably get a radio or something.”
Isabella finished up her breakfast and placed her dishes in the sink before grabbing her things.
“Maybe I should take a nap before I go shopping.”
She put her things down and laid down on the couch.
A woman was sitting in what seemed to be a gym. She was very pregnant and she was watching a man workout.
"Mh," she grunted.
The man stopped working out.
"Is something wrong?" he asked.
"No, I'm fine," she said.
He nodded then went back to working out.
"Mh," she grunted louder.
He stopped again and went to her side.
"Please tell me what's wrong. If you hurt or uncomfortable, tell me. Are you hurting anywhere?" he asked.
"No, really I'm fine. It's just I think we're going to have our own kickboxer," she said placing a hand on her stomach.
He smiled then placed his hand on top of hers.
Isabella’s eyes fluttered open.
“The guy in my dream looked strangely like that silver-haired guy I met today.” She said rubbing her eyes.
She stretched like a cat and got up off the couch.
“Now that I have napped. I can go shopping for cleaning supplies.”
She grabbed her bag and went out the door.
Isabella was right in front of a store. She wasn’t sure it had the stuff she needed. She was just taking a chance, but she needed to figure out what she was going to get.
“Ok. I need trash bags, a rake and …. Is that it? The trash bags for well trash and leaves. And the rake is used to help with that. Maybe gloves?”
She went into the store.
She searched and searched for what she needed. She got a bit confused and couldn’t figure where to find what she needed. After an hour of searching, she found them.
She grabbed the things she needed, paid for them, and left.
“That took way longer than necessary.”
She didn’t know of any restaurants, so she decided to wander around a bit.
She had been walking around for ten minutes, her stomach growled the entire time, and decided to make something at home. Not before coming across an interesting looking restaurant.
“TakeSushi huh? It looks interesting. Too bad I’ve never had sushi.”
She looked one more time before heading home.
“Maybe another day.”
Isabella finished the last bite of her sandwich.
“Now to the training grounds.”
Since she knew where the training grounds were, she got there in less than ten minutes.
Isabella put on some gloves and opened a trash bag. She started with the piles of leaves. She used the rake to scoop up leaves and put them in the bag.
Doing that twenty times had her sweating.
“Training session number two it seems.”
She continued going back and forth with the leaves until she was finally done.
“A box of bags done. Good thing I bought more than one.”
She opened another bag and continued to pick up the leaves.
Isabella was lying on her back on the grass. The sunset only a little while ago.
She pulled out her phone to check the time.
Isabella glanced over at the huge pile of bags she had to throw away.
“Where can I dump all these bags? I need a dumpster in order to get rid of them.”
She frowned softly.
“There is that sushi restaurant. They’re sure to have a dumpster.”
Isabella got up, grabbed one of the bags and headed to the restaurant.
She was right. They did have a dumpster and one side of the lid was open.
“Now all I have to do is throw another 39 bags into the dump.” she said tossing the bag inside.
Isabella went back and forth for about an hour. Grabbing bags and carrying them to the dumpster.
She was at the training grounds now.
“Whoa! Last bag!” she cheered.
She strolled with the bag on her shoulder. Watching the sights that were now encased in darkness.
It’s so peaceful.
She arrived at TakeSushi but stopped in her tracks.
Standing by the dumpster was a boy. He was tall and had raven black hair. She couldn’t make out his face.
“Takeshi, do you see anything out there?”
Isabella’s eyes widened.
Shit. I’m gonna get in trouble.
“Don’t stay out there too long now.”
She sighed in relief.
Her arms got tired so she put the bag on the ground.
The boy, Takeshi, walked towards her.
As he got closer, she saw his face. An angular chin with soft chocolate brown eyes.
“What are doing back here?”
“Throwing my trash away in your dumpster.”
“I can throw that away for you,” he said reaching for the bag.
“No, it’s fine. I ca-”
Takeshi touched her hand, trying to grab it.
Takeshi recoiled his hand and looked at it.
“I think I felt something,” she heard him mutter.
He shook his head.
“Umm you can throw it away,” Isabella said handing it to him.
He hesitated before grabbing it.
No electricity again. Weird.
He tossed it into the dump.
“It was nice.. uh .. talking but I have to go.” Isabella said starting to walk away.
“What’s your name? I’m Yamamoto Takeshi.”
Isabella was walking further and further away.
“See you around, Isabella!”
Isabella turned her head and saw Yamamoto go inside.
“I wonder if I’m gonna see him at school?”
Time for me to go to sleep.
She just finished brushing her teeth and hopped into bed.
“Day two of my new life in Namimori. It’s i-”
“Kon’nichiwa watashi no hana. How are things going?”
“Good. I bought some stuff for the house. Walked around the shops and stuff. A nice woman helped me out.”
“‘-teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime’.”
Isabella rolled her eyes.
“You’re sooo clever, Padre.”
“Of course. I pride myself on it. Anyway, I don’t know when I’ll be able to see you. Or the next time we will talk. Happy Birthday, stay out of trouble, and I love you.”
Isabella sniffed softly.
“Thank you, Padre. I love you too,” she said thickly.
She sniffed some more and rubbed the tears off her cheeks.
“I suddenly feel so alone. Monday can’t come fast enough.”
Chapter 4: Chapter 3: Unexpected Rain Storm
Chapter 3: Unexpected Rain Storm
Isabella wiggled softly in bed.
At 5 o’clock, I’ll get dressed to go train.
Today was the day. Monday.
The last couple of days were spent inside. Isabella organized her things and properly unpacked. She bought herself some clothes. A dress, a suit, and other things she might need. Since her father told her at the last second that she was moving, she only grabbed what she thought was necessary.
Her sleep pattern was still very much out of whack but she knew it would straighten out eventually.
One thing that did concern her was a dream she had the other day.
The same woman from before was running through the forest in the pouring rain, but she wasn't pregnant. She actually looked younger.
"Where is he? Where is he?" she muttered to herself.
She continued to look frantically for someone.
She stopped then turned sharply to her left. A few meters away from her was a man in his mid-twenties. Not too far from him was a bamboo sword. She ran to his side.
"Are you ok? Why didn't you ask for back up?" she asked frantically checking him for wounds.
"If I knew something like this was going to happen I would've asked you sooner. It always seems like I’m asking after a life-changing event," he said.
"Isabella Angela Gurin-Fulmine, Will you marry me?" he asked pulling a ring from out of his suit.
Her eyes went wide, tears started flowing down her cheeks.
"Yes," she said then kissed him.
Isabella frowned slightly.
“He looked like that Takeshi guy. And is the woman me? If so, where does the Fulmine come from? Why was I even looking for him? It’s like the dream about Sasagawa-san. I still don’t know if that was him though.”
She shook her head and looked at the time.
She flinged the blanket off her person and quickly got dressed.
“Time to get training~,” she sang.
She did her stretching routine then headed out.
For the past few days, she has been seeing him. They never stop to talk or anything, just a greeting when they pass by each other.
I might see him at school today.
She ran even faster to the training grounds.
“I might need to increase my workout.”
She was breathing a bit heavier than normal but way less than when she started training last week.
“I’ve gotten stronger already. Now, to get home to start getting ready.”
Isabella sprinted faster than she did before.
She made it home in record time.
“Why am I so excited right now?”
She went inside and ran up the steps and went straight into the bathroom.
She showered as quickly as humanly possible.
Isabella hopped out and toweled off.
“I need to make my lunch and my breakfast. I’ll get dressed then do that.”
She put on her clothes and slid down the banister.
“Now for the food making.”
She made herself a nice bento to eat for lunch.
“It looks so good. I can’t wait to eat it.”
Her stomach growled softly.
“Breakfast is next.”
She made an omelet and quickly ate it.
She grabbed her bag and her shoes.
She headed towards the door but looped back around to the kitchen.
“Nearly forgot my lunch.”
She actually left for school this time. Not forgetting anything.
Her father gave her a map to the school. She wished he gave her a map to the house but either way, it’s a map.
On her way to the school, she passed by a playground.
She stopped and stared at it. When she was young, she never really played at a playground.
Her father never stopped her from going, she was never interested. Now she has the sudden urge to swing on a swing or slide down a slide.
She felt a pang in her chest. It seemed like memories that should be there . . . aren’t.
Isabella didn’t remember anything prior to her suddenly being in her father’s care.
She knows she has scars but doesn’t know where they’re from or how she go them. They are a reminder of something she couldn’t remember.
She shook her head and continued on her journey.
Isabella was walking for a little while and saw the school coming up in the distance.
That’s a really big school . . . or is it? I honestly can’t remember how big schools are supposed to be.
She got closer and closer to the school. Close enough to see that there was someone standing at the gate.
Isabella stopped a few feet away from the school.
I’m gonna get lost in there if I don’t have help.
She looked at the other students entering the school.
Maybe one of them can help me.
She tried to talk to the passing students but each one of them ignored her.
No, that’s not rude at all. I guess I can ask the guy at the gate.
Isabella walked towards the gate.
“Ano,” she started when she was closer to him, “can you help me find the main office?”
He turned to Isabella. He looked her over before asking her a question.
“Hn. Herbivore,” Isabella raised an eyebrow at that, “ who are you?”
“I’m Gurin Isabella. The new student.”
“Hn.” was his response.
Isabella narrowed her eyes.
Is that the only thing he really says? Is he … is he speaking in code?
He turned towards the school and started walking away.
Ok then. It seems everyone at this sch-
“Are you coming, Herbivore?”
I guess he wanted me to follow him.
Isabella nodded and speed walked to catch up to him.
As they walked, to what Isabella presumed was the office, students parted as soon as they saw them.
This guy must have a hell of a reputation. He does have a strong aura though. That probably helps.
They stopped in front of a door.
The guy didn’t even say it was the office. He just started walking away.
“Arigato! I didn’t get your name!”
He turned his head and said, “It’s Kyoya.”
“Kyoya. The quiet guy with the strong aura.”
Isabella opened the door and entered the office.
“Gurin Isabella?” The receptionist questioned when she entered.
“Hai, that’s me.”
“You’re in class 1-A. Here is your class schedule.” she handed the paper to her. “Have a nice day!”
Isabella started to leave but stopped and went back to the receptionist.
“Where is classroom 1-A?”
The receptionist was nice enough to tell her where it was to stop her from wasting time.
She took a deep breath before entering the classroom.
A silver-haired boy was standing in front of the class.
“Ah. There’s our second new student.”
Isabella looked over the students and was slightly surprised to see Sawada amongst them. It seems he was surprised to see her too.
Thank the stars above. A familiar face.
“Ohayo, Sawada-san,” she greeted Tsuna.
“Please introduce yourselves.”
“Gurin Isabella. It’s nice to meet all of you.”
Isabella bowed deeply.
“She’s so cute,” one boy said.
“How does Damn-Tsuna know her?” another boy questioned. The silver-haired boy sucked his teeth.
“Gokudera Hayato,” he introduced coldly.
“Wow he’s so hot!” a girl gushed.
“I think he’s foreign,” another girl squealed.
“Well, Gurin since you know Sawada, you can take the seat behind him,” the teacher said. Isabella nodded and went to her seat. She flashed Tsuna a smile when she walked by his desk.
“Gokudera, you will sit in front of Mitsu.”
A girl in the back of the room waved her hand enthusiastically.
It looked like Gokudera was going to his newly assigned seat but he stopped in front of Sawada.
“Me?” Sawada squeaked, pointing to himself.
Gokudera kicked Sawada’s desk, causing both the desk and Sawada fall over.
Isabella stood up from her seat quickly. No, she didn’t know Sawada like that or for that long but he’s the closest thing to a friend she has right now.Besides Sasagawa, who she’s still not sure if he goes to the school.
“What the hell is your problem?”
“Who the fuck asked you to butt in, bitch?”
Isabella’s eyebrow twitched.
“There is no reason for you to be hostile. You just started going here,” she said somewhat calmly.
“You can shut the fuck up. You can just sit there like everyone else. What ma-”
Isabella’s fist hitting his face cut off his sentence.
Gokudera stumbled backward. Trying to catch his bearings.
“Are you ok, Sawada-san?”
“H-hai, Gurin-chan. I-I’m fine.”
“Gurin, since you hit Gokudera, take him to the nurse’s office,” the teacher said irritated.
Isabella sighed to herself.
Isabella grabbed Gokudera by the arm and dragged him out of the classroom. She didn’t have a clue where she was going, she was just going.
Gokudera pulled his arm away and glared at her.
“I never would’ve thought a strong punch would come from someone like you,” he said.
“No, a freak.”
Isabella raised an eyebrow to that.
“Is it my eyes? My hair? My accent? Besides, how can someone with gray hair call me a freak.”
“It’s silver, not gray. And you're a freak because you shocked me.”
Isabella raised an eyebrow to that.
I thought I felt something.
She saw a sign above one of the doors that said ‘Nurse’s Office’.
“Here’s your stop.”
He glared at her one more time before going inside.
Isabella shook her head.
What a great day so far. I hope it doesn’t continue in such a fashion.
Isabella was making her way back to class when she sensed someone behind her.
Her body tensed. She readied herself for whoever might be behind her.
“Who are you?” she asked.
“I should be asking the questions. Who are you? Who sent you?”
She turned around. It was the baby she saw last week. Reborn. Now that she wasn’t in a panic, she noticed the yellow pacifier around his neck.
“Arcobaleno,” Reborn tensed at that, “ what are you doing here?”
“How do you know me?”
“Who doesn’t know about the greatest hitman in the world?”
His fedora shadowed his face.
“Hmmm, so you know about the mafia?”
He pulled out a gun and shot at her.
Isabella dodged and pulled out a gun of her own.
“I know of the mafia. I’m not apart of a famiglia, but that doesn’t mean someone wouldn’t come after you if something happened to me.”
“Come to the volleyball game.”
Volleyball game? There's a volleyball team?
“You might just see something you like,” he said with a smirk.
“I’ll think about it. I need to head to class. See you around, I guess.”
Isabella put her gun away and walked away. Glancing one more time behind her.
“A strong, female famiglia member is just what Damn-Tsuna needs.”
“I guess I’m not going to the volleyball game.”
Isabella spent time avoiding boys and girls alike. She ended up falling asleep in the bathroom, where she was hiding from them.
“REBORN! EXTINGUISH THE DYNAMITE WITH MY DYING WILL!”
That’s the voice from last week.
The voice came from the back of the gym. The scene before her was an … odd one.
Sawada was clad in nothing but his boxers. And Gokudera was throwing dynamite.
Wait wait wait. Gokudera hates Sawada. Who just so happens to possibly be a mafia boss. His weapon is dynamite, which explodes like a bomb. Also the most obvious, his first name being Hayato. He’s Smoking Bomb Hayato.
“Correct. You’re right on time.”
“Reborn, what’s going on?”
“Gokudera challenged Damn-Tsuna to be the Vongola Boss.”
Vongola?I think I've heard of them.
“Triple Bomb!” Gokudera yelled.
He had a large amount of dynamite in his hands but some of them dropped and landed at his feet.
This jackass is going to blow himself up!
Isabella ran over to him and pushed the both of them out of the way. She didn’t think about what she did, she just did it.
She waited for an explosion but never heard one.
She turned and saw that all the dynamite were extinguished. Sawada was watching them. Isabella realized she was still lying on top of Gokudera.
She quickly got off of him. She offered him her hand to help him up.
He looked her in the eyes before taking her hand.
“Arigato. For saving me.”
They let go of each other’s hand, awkwardly.
Gokudera turned to Sawada.
“You helped me too,” he bowed deeply. “I’m forever in your debt.”
“T-that’s not necessary,” Sawada said.
“I really need to get home. I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”
Gokudera nodded in her direction.
Isabella was taking her time getting home, trying to enjoy the scenery.
“Today was … interesting. Tomorrow will most likely quiet down a little bit.”
It was an uneventful Tuesday as she expected.
The final bell rang about an hour ago. Isabella has been wandering around the school the entire time.
She didn’t want to go home to that empty house just yet. Besides, this way she won’t get lost in the school.
I should probably head home.
She went outside and started heading for the gate, but she saw someone on the baseball field.
She decided at that moment to go see who it was.
As she got closer and closer, she got a better look at the person’s face.
“Yamamoto-san, what’re you doing?” she called out.
He stopped what he was doing and jogged over to her.
“Hi, Isabella. I’m doing some baseball practice,” he said smiling.
Why does his smile look so...weird? Almost plastic like.
“Wanna play a game of catch? It could help you with practice plus I don’t want to go home just yet.”
He thought for a second before nodding.
“Sure. Let’s do it.”
Isabella put her things done on the bleachers and headed out to the field.
Time truly escaped them.
They played catch for a lot longer than both of them probably wanted. They even batted a few times.
Isabella pitched the ball to Yamamoto. He slammed the bat into it. The ball went flying in the air and Isabella took off after it. It looked like it was going towards the fence. Isabella climbed up the fence and caught it.
“Wooooooooh! I caught it!!!!” she yelled.
She jogged back to Yamamoto.
“So, how did I fair, Mr. Baseball?”
“You did amazing. You would be great on the team!”
“You think so? That's very nice of you.”
“Thanks for helping me practice,” he said with a smile.
“It was my pleasure. I had a lot of fun.”
“Maybe we can do it again sometime.”
“Maybe. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Isabella started walking to the bleachers to get her stuff.
He turned to her.
"Your smile is absolutely beautiful when it's not fake."
Yamamoto frowned softly to himself and watched Isabella leave.
She looked through me so easily.
Chapter 5: Chapter 4: Harsh Rain
Warning: Mentions of suicide
Chapter 4: Harsh Rain
“Maybe I shouldn’t have taken that nap when I came home yesterday,” she muttered. “But playing with Yamamoto was tiring.”
She didn’t sleep through the night again. Her biological clock is still a bit out of whack.
“Time to get up I guess.”
Another weird dream plagued her yesterday.
The woman had a large smile on her face. She was pacing back and forth.
“Where is he?”
It seemed like she was waiting for someone.
She heard the door open and stopped pacing.
“I have something important to tell you!”
Aman with silver hair and green eyes came into the room and stood next to her.
“Whatis it? Did something happen? Is anyone giving any trouble? Is he giving trouble?”
“No, nothing like that.”
“Then what is it?
She wrapped her arms around his neck and smiled.
“You're gonna be a Tou-san.”
She shook her head and continued her morning routine. She ate a quick snack and dressed before heading out.
“Ohayo, Sasagawa-san!” Isabella yelled running past him.
She stopped in her tracks and turned around.
“You can call me Ryohei.”
“Well. Ohayo Ryohei-san.”
His cheeks tinged pink.
Isabella smiled at that.
The continued running in their own directions.
I think I heard his name whispered around at school before but that could be someone else.
She arrived at the training grounds.
“Another day, another training session.”
She finished training and was now walking home. She had a hand on her stomach.
“Oh the pain. That soreness is no joke.”
She reached home and went inside.
Isabella closed the door behind her and went upstairs to get dressed for school.
Fifteen minutes later she was dressed and ready to go. She grabbed her bag and her bento (which she made the night before) then headed out.
“Day 3 of school here I come.”
Isabella arrived at school a bit later than yesterday, but she still wasn't late.
He said nothing.
At least I can say I’m trying.
She continued to her class. Getting a few stares from people. They were probably staring at her hair. It looks black inside but outside you can see that it’s really a dark purple.
She shrugged and continued on.
“Ohayo Sawada-san.”She greeted when she went to her seat.
“O-Ohayo Gurin-chan. Gomen again, about Monday.”
“You mean the dynamite fiasco.”
She heard someone grunt behind her.
“It was … eventful. I didn’t feel like my life was at risk or anything.”
She heard another grunt.
Isabella turned towards the grunts.
Gokuderawas pointedly looking away from her.
Isabella rolled her eyes.
The bell rung and class began.
It was lunchtime. Isabella was quietly eating on the roof by herself.
She looked around. There were a few other people on the roof.
The same feeling from Monday returned.
“I need to make some friends.”
She finished eating and decided to head back to class a little early.
Isabella was slowly walking back to class.
Passing by an open door she noticed a familiar head of short spiky hair.
“Ryohei-san! It’s nice to see you!”
“Where are you headed?”
“Back to class. I finished eating early. I better go. See ya around.”
He nodded once again.
So he does go to school here.
Lunch ended and more people were coming back to class.
The classroom door swung open.
“Everyone! Yamamoto is about to jump off the roof!”
“When he stayed after school practicing yesterday, he went too far and broke his arm!”
Isabella felt her stomach sink.
I… I need to do something.
Isabella was the first one out of her seat. She ran as fast as she could to the roof.
When she got there, people were standing a bit away from Yamamoto. He was on the other side of the safety fence.
Instead of standing with everyone else, she walked towards Yamamoto.
She heard the other students murmur behind her.
“Is she going to talk to him?”
“Whatis she trying to do? She’s new. She probably doesn’t even know Yamamoto.”
“Yamamoto-san, what are you doing?”
He turned to her with a pained smile on his face.
“My arm is broken. I can’t play baseball anymore.”
“Why did you stay after I left?”
“I’ve been slipping for a while now. I thought more effort would help me. It obviously didn’t.”
“Your arm is broken but that doesn’t mean you have to throw everything away because of it.”
He shook his head.
“You don’t understand.”
“You’re right I don’t. So tell me so I can.”
“Please stop!” someone yelled from behind.
“If you came to stop me, it’s no use,” Yamamoto said.
“You should be able to understand my feelings.”
“Huh?” Tsuna questioned.
“For someone that’s called Damn-Tsuna all the time, you can understand the feeling of preferring to die over failing at everything, right?”
“Huh! I um … no. You and I are different, so …”
“How arrogant of the recently awesome, Tsuna-sama. So you’re a fine student now opposed to me?”
Why does he feel this way? What happened? Is … is baseball his only purpose in life?
“N-no, that's wrong! It’s because I’m no good!!! Unlike you, I never put any effort into one single thing… I arrogantly told you ‘effort’ and such, but I really done nothing!
“Saying you’re so frustrated that you want to die, or you want to die because of a career-ending accident. Unlike you, I’ve never had those kind of intense thoughts.
“In fact, I'm a pathetic person who would have regrets when dying…thinking when I’m going to die then I should’ve done it with dying will. Thinking it’s a waste to die from something like this...
“SoI can’t understand your feelings… sorry. Later!” he said trying to run away.
“Wait, Tsuna.” Yamamoto grabbed the back of Sawada’s shirt, pulling him into the fence. The fence gave way causing both of them to fall.
Isabella turned and ran towards the roof door. She ran down the flights of stairs, through the hallways, and out the door.
When she came outside, she saw Sawada in his boxers holding onto Yamamoto. With a spring made of hair coming out the top of Sawada’shead.
I’m sorry, what?!
The spring hit the ground and the two of them landed safely.
Isabella ran over to them.
“Are you two ok?!”
“Hai hai, Isabella. I’m sorry … for what happened.”
“You should apologize to your father.”
He nodded his head to that.
“Sawada-san, you might want to hurry and get some clothes on.”
Sawada got up and started running inside.
“Need a helping hand?”
The final bell rang.
“Uhhh! Today was a scary day. I just want to go home and have a nice long bath. I hope tomorrow isn’t as stressful, I don’t know if I’ll be able to handle it.”
Isabella shook her head as she headed home.
Isabella stopped and turned towards the voice.
Yamamoto Takeshi was jogging over to her.
“Hi, Yamamoto-san. How are you feeling?”
“Better. I don’t know what I was thinking.”
“I mean, if baseball was your reason for existing, I can see why breaking your arm was … alarming. In your eyes, everything you cared about no longer had meaning. Maybe you should find something else to live for?”
“Maybe. Thanks again.”
“See you tomorrow.”
Takeshi watched Isabella leave.
“I should find someone else to live for.”
Chapter 6: Chapter 5: Lightning Strikes Twice
Chapter 5: Lightning Strikes Twice
Isabella smiled at the clock for a change.
“I finally got some sleep.” She sat up and stretched. “That bath must have really helped the other day.”
She got out of bed and stretched some more.
Isabella was making her way to the training ground when she saw a small child.
What’s a five-year-old doing out by themselves? Especially at 5 in the morning.
Isabella went closer to the child. He was wearing some kind of cow costume. He had a big black afro and bright green eyes.
“Are you lost, little guy?” she questioned.
The poor boy was shaking and tears were gathering in his eyes.
“The … The Great Lambo-Sama is never lost!”
He shaked even harder.
Isabella’s eyes soften.
He’s trying to be brave.
“Um, well, Great Lambo-Sama would you take help from a lowly peasant, like myself?”
Lambo looked off in thought as if he was actually legitimately thinking her offer over.
“Hai. But only this time,” he said nodding.
Isabella gently took his hand and guided him to the training ground.
“Wh-where are we going?” he squeaked.
“Training grounds. I need to train to be Lambo-sama’s bodyguard, nee?”
He nodded hesitantly.
“When I’m done training I’ll take you home.”
Wherever that is. And was that electricity I felt?
Isabella put Lambo to sit down on a bench. She went straight into her training.
30 minutes, Isabella was close to being done with her training.
I only got …. a few… more….. and …. done!
She walked on shaky legs over to Lambo. She took a seat next to him.
“A-ano, Bodyguard-chan,” Lambo called.
Isabella smiled at that.
He doesn’t know my name and that’s what he decides to call me.
“Hai, Great Lambo-sama?”
“C-can you teach Lambo-san to do that?” he asked shyly.
She blinked a few times.
Training a young child, especially one that seems to wander around by himself, isn’t really a bad idea. Buuuut I can’t do that right now, in this moment.
“Not right now.”
His face fell.
“Because you haven’t built up your stamina first.”
He looked up at her in surprise.
“If you start doing the training I do right now, you wouldn’t last eight seconds. You need to build up your stamina first. What do you say? Are you willing to do that?”
He nodded his head vigorously.
“Ok then. Today, after school, we’ll start your training. Ok?”
“I know I said I would take you home and I will. First, let’s go to my house so I can get you something to eat.” She grabbed his hand and started towards the house.
Isabella and Lambo were quietly eating at the table.
This is …. kind of odd. But it wouldn’t be too bad if this little guy decides to come by more often.
The two of them finished eating and Isabella decided now was the time to take him home. She got up from her seat and headed over to the door.
“Ok, Lambo-sama, do you have any idea where your house is?”
Isabella and Lambo were standing in the doorway of the front door.
“Hai, hai. Lambo-san can get home all by himself.”
He never did say he was lost.
“Oh, uh, ok then Lambo-sama.”
“Lambo-san needs to go.”
“No, assassin Reborn.”
“Why assassin Reborn?”
“Because Lambo-san is a hitman.”
That … That’s something.
“Alright then. See you after school, Lambo-sama.”
“Bye, Bodyguard-chan.” Lambo started walking down the road.
“I forgot to tell that boy my name. A five-year-old hitman. Shoot, there’s 13-year-old mafia bosses, world’s greatest hitmen that look like babies. Honestly, that isn’t that surprising.”
She shook her heard before heading back inside to get dressed.
“Time for an easy, not stressful day.”
“One more class before lunch,” she muttered leaving class.
The day has so far been very easy and peaceful, which she appreciates wholeheartedly.
“Is that little boy your brother?”
Is someone asking about Reborn?
Isabella turned towards the voice.
Lambo was latched onto Sawada’s leg.
She started walking towards them but stopped when the hallway went deadly silent.
Just as she thought that the hallway was filled with hushed whispers of ‘Hibari-san’.
Who is this ‘Hibari-san’?
She was going to turn to look at the person but Sawada took off running with Lambo still on his leg.
Gokudera chased after them and so did Isabella.
Well, she tried. People kept getting in her way which caused her to lag behind.
She finally caught up with them. Lambo was crying, Reborn was there, Sawada looked stressed, and Gokudera looked annoyed.
Isabella started walking closer but stopped when Lambo started taking something out of his afro.
What is th - that’s a bazooka. How can it even fit in his afro?! And what does he plan on doing with it?!
Lambo went to fire the bazooka.
But it ended up backfiring and landing on him.
The area was engulfed in pink smoke.
The others turned towards her.
“Gurin-chan, you know Lambo?!”
Isabella ran past them and went to Lambo.
The smoke was slowly clearing and through it, she could see a figure.
The smoke cleared and Isabella was beyond confused.
A teenager was standing where Lambo was before.
He was wearing a cow print shirt, similar to Lambo’s cow costume.
“Yare, yare,” the mystery person said.
Who the hell is this?
“Uh. Nice to see you again, young Vongola Tenth.”
Tsuna looked just as confused as Isabella did.
“What’s going on here?” Isabella questioned.
The mystery guy turned to her.
“Amore Mio,” he sighed with affection.
‘My love’? Is he referring to me?
He walked towards her and gently took her hand. He softly kissed it.
Ok, who is this guy?
“I-I don’t know you,” she admitted.
Dammit! I stuttered.
“It’s me. Fulmine Lambo.”
WHaaaaaaat ? How? Hold on Fulmine? Like from my dream?
Isabella’s eyes went wide. So, did Sawada’s and Gokudera’s.
“How is that possible?” Tsuna questioned.
“The Ten Year Bazooka,” Reborn said, finally speaking.
Isabella saw Lambo’s eye twitch.
What’s that all about? She quickly shook her head. That’s not important right now.
“Ten Year Bazooka?”Isabella inquired.
“I’ll explain,” Lambo started. “A person hit with the Ten Year Bazooka will be replaced with themselves from 10 years in the future. But it only lasts 5 minutes.”
“So, you’re 15-year-old Lambo?” Isabella suggested.
“Si, amore mio,” he said with a smile.
Isabella frowned but she could feel her cheeks warming up.
I’m really trying not to like him right now but that seems difficult.
Isabella’s frown deepened but for a different reason.
Lambo’s aura changed drastically. When he first switched places with 5-year-old Lambo, his aura was a soft buzzing, almost like background noise. But now, it was giving Isabella a headache it was so loud.
The sky darkened from gray clouds rolling in. Said clouds had lightning visible rolling around them.
What the hell is happening?
“I honestly wasn’t going to say anything but …. seeing you now, Reborn, still pisses me off. I will never forgive you for what you did!”
Lighting struck Lambo head on. The sky lit up with blue light.
Just like lightning, Lambo moved faster than sound. His footsteps echoed behind him. Lambo was about to make contact when Leon transformed into a cane and Reborn hit him in the head. Lambo didn’t stop though, he tried to right hook Reborn in the face. Reborn jumped over the punch.
Reborn shot a few rounds at Lambo, but he easily dodged.
Lambo’s hand was palm up with his fingers curled. A small ball of green formed in his palm. It started getting bigger and bigger. He threw the ball of lightning at Reborn.
He dodged it but the lightning ball had more to it. The ball started growing and turned into a cage, trapping Reborn inside.
Lambo put both his hands in front of him. Lightning began to gather around them. The clouds above crackled loudly with electricity.
Is . . .is he charging an attack?
Sawada and Gokudera looked to be frozen in place.
What did Reborn do?
“Now you will suffer, like she di-”
Isabella let go of a breath she didn’t realize she was holding.
Gokudera and Sawada sweatdropped.
That was anticlimactic. But I’m kind of glad we didn’t see what that attack was about to do.
The cage around Reborn disbursed and the dark clouds disappeared.
She walked over to him.
“Are you ok, Lambo?” she asked, still a bit confused.
“Hai, hai. Isabella-chan,” he said with a smile.
Isabella regarded him with a raised eyebrow.
“Who told you my name? I forgot to tell you it when we first met.”
“A nice woman told me.”
Did I tell him? My future self?
“That’s the bell. You need to go somewhere, so you’re not in the way and I need to go to class.”
Isabella sat on the roof with Lambo at her side. She found him wandering around the courtyard.
“Here Lambo, have some of my lunch,” she offered.
Looking at him now you wouldn’t think he would turn into that. It seems Reborn did something pretty heinous in the future. I wonder what it was- is? Will be? I don’t know.
She took a bite out of her rice ball.
And what he said, ‘Amore mio’. What is our relationship in the future? Is it still student-teacher? Or is it something more? What are those damn dreams?
This is all so confusing.
Isabella finished eating lunch with Lambo. There still was a fair amount of time left.
“Lambo where are you from?”
“Hm? Lambo-san from Italy.”
“Why are you here in Japan? Are you parents here?”
“Lambo-san is here to assassinate Reborn.
Why would anyone send a five-year-old to assassinate someone? What is the me -?
Isabella collected her things and got up.
“I’ll see you after class, Lambo.”
School was finally out.
Why did today feel so long?
She saw Lambo waiting.
“Come on Lambo. Let’s go train.”
She offered her hand and he happily took it.
The two of them started towards the ‘training’ grounds.
Isabella saw Ryohei as they were leaving. He saw her too.
She smiled and waved to him.
He waved back shyly.
Is he this shy around everyone or is it just me?
The walk was a nice one. The area was still very new to her.
They arrived and Lambo was obviously excited.
“Ok first thing I’m gonna have you do is run 5 laps around the entire training grounds,” Isabella explained.
Lambo looked around the entire park.
The park was roughly 5 acres. So he had his work cut out for him.
He opened his mouth as if to complain but he closed it.
He nodded his head and started running.
“Hmmm. He’s sticking to it. That’s good. At least I know he’s serious about this.”
Isabella went over to a bench and sat down. She thought about what she learned about Lambo today. Well, his future-self at least.
Future Lambo is …. attractive. And his aura is nothing to laugh at , but ….
Isabella watched Lambo make his way around the park.
He’s so young though. There is an 8 maybe 9 year difference between us. Most likely 9 since my birthday is in a few months. Isabella shook her head. I don’t have to think about this for a while. . . . . I hope. And his last name is Fulmine, which ironically means lightning.
Isabella watched Lambo run.
Training someone will be interesting.
She felt her eyelids steadily grow heavy.
A woman was sitting on a swing. She was on a porch and a man was sitting next to her. He looked like adult Lambo but older. long til “Let’s make a bet then. If she looks as you described, you win. If
“That would be a sight. But I don’t think that would happen.”
The woman giggled.
“I think quite the opposite. She’s gonna look like you but with my hair. Can you imagine a little you running around with an afro?”
“I think she’ll look like you. Eyes, face, all that. Except …. She’ll have my hair.”
our little girl is here. What do you think she’ll look like?” she looks like I describe, I win.”
The woman pursed her lips.
“And what do we win exactly?”
“Winner names our daughter.”
The woman giggled again.
Isabella jumped when she felt someone touch her arm.
Lambo was standing next to her, panting.
I must have fallen asleep. I had another weird dream. This time about Lambo.
“Alrighty, buddy. I’ll take you to my house.”
Isabella picked Lambo up and carried him.
She took her time getting to her house. She wasn’t in any real rush.
She felt Lambo lay his head on her shoulder.
Today was an overly adventurous day. Bosses telling their five-year-old subordinates to kill the world’s greatest hitman. Giving them devices that let them switch places with their ten year older self.
Isabella shook her head at that.
But, I wouldn’t mind studying the device if I got a chance.
Isabella arrived at her house. She laid Lambo done and went to make them something to eat.
These past couple of days were …. A bit rough. Hopefully the next few will be better. And honestly, what is up with these dreams? The woman is the same in everyone but the man …. The man is always someone different. I really need to figure them out.
Chapter 7: Chapter 6: Ever Changing Weather
Chapter 6: Ever Changing Weather
“Is there any news on the girl?”
“Nothing new. Just the same things. We kind of … lost track of her,” the voice trailed off.
"Where is she?" the voice demanded.
"U-um sir, we u-um don’t vknow where she is," someone else said.
"What!? How could you possibly lose her?”
“She’s no longer in Italy sir. He didn’t take the bait.”
“When did she leave Italy?”
“And I’m only hearing about this now?! She is our ticket to being the top mafia famiglia. We are better than the Vongola. All we need to do is find her and we've won," he said with a corrupted smile.
"Is she that strong?" another one.
The leader started to chuckle darkly until it turned into a horrific cackle.
"Strong? She's above strong. If she unlocks all her abilities she will be a god among men. And if we have and control her, we will be the gods," he explained.
"But if we had her before how did we lose her in the first place?" someone asked.
"Arcobaleno," he growled.
"This time we will not let him or any of the other's stop us from succeeding," he said.
"Find her and bring her to me," he said.
"Yes Boss!" they all said.
Isabella was sitting on the couch in the living room, book in hand.
It was a breezy Sunday afternoon.
Lambo had training earlier that morning. He’s really coming along, especially since he started training 10 days ago.
He went home right afterward, leaving Isabella alone for the rest of the day.
She yawned softly.
“I need to buy groceries.”
Lambo is at her house nearly every day, causing her to run out of food a bit quicker than she thought she would. At least she got her allowance for July not too long ago.
“But I don’t want to leave,” she complained.
Her stomach growled loudly.
She sighed and got up from her seat.
She opened the pantry and frowned.
A box of crackers and some rice cakes.
She went over to the fridge and her frowned deepened.
No eggs, no milk. Just some salad dressing and mustard.
She glared at a cabinet before opening it.
A single empty jar of peanut butter was in it.
“I guess I’m going shopping.”
She pouted to herself.
“I’m not changing. I’m going out just like this.”
She was wearing some shorts and a tank top. Her scars in view for everyone to see.
She grabbed her bag, put on her flip-flops, and headed out.
Isabella was taking her time getting to the store. While she was walking a girl on a scooter drove past her.
Isabella turned her head to watch her go by.
“Pink hair. Interesting.”
She continued on her way to the shopping district.
She stopped and looked around.
She went over to him.
“Where you headed?” he asked.
“To do some shopping. I have no food in my house.”
"Ah. Your parents sent you on some errands.”
Isabella opened her mouth then closed it. She walked closer to Yamamoto.
“If I tell you this you must promise not to tell anyone,” she whispered.
Yamamoto’s expression changed. His eyes narrowed and face sharpened.
“I live alone. My father is in Italy. And my mother, well I don’t know her.”
“So you’re here by yourself?”
“Doesn’t it get lonely?”
“All the time.”
“Why isn’t your father here?”
Isabella’s eyes wandered to the ground.
“I don’t know.”
A silence came over them.
“I have to get back to work. See you at school tomorrow?”
Yamamoto went back inside and Isabella continued down the road.
“I’m sure I won’t be alone for too long.”
“And that’s the last thing.”
She placed a gallon of milk in the fridge.
She made a sandwich in the middle of her putting up her food.
Isabella took her sandwich over to the couch and continued reading her book.
She looked around the room.
“This house is too empty.”
“I fell asleep. What time is it?”
She looked at her phone. 6:38 am.
“I guess I’m not training today.”
She got up and stretched.
“Some fresh air would be nice.”
She opened the door and screamed.
“Geez Lambo. You scared the crap out of me. What are you doing out here?”
“Lambo-san was waiting to go training.”
“I slept in buddy. Do you wanna come in for some breakfast?”
He nodded and came into the house.
Isabella decided to make some pancakes and eggs for the two of them.
“You can train after school. I might just increase your training.”
Lambo bounced in his seat.
“Finish up your food. You’re gonna need your energy.”
Food was finished and the dishes were washed.
“Ok. I’m gonna go shower and get dressed for school.”
Isabella came back downstairs 20 minutes later.
She went to the kitchen and made her lunch for the day.
“Come on Lambo. I can drop you home before I walk to school.”
Isabella grabbed her things and headed out with Lambo.
Lambo led the way simply because Isabella didn’t know where he lived.
They stopped in front of a house after walking for 20 minutes.
“Huh. You live a lot closer than I thought. Well, I’ll see you after school. Stay out of trouble.”
“Hai hai!” he yelled running for the door.
“Now for me to head to school.”
Even though he doesn’t respond she still greets him.
I guess he’s in a good mood today. Whatever that means.
She headed inside but was immediately stopped.
She smiled at who she saw.
“I didn’t see you this morning.”
“I slept in by accident this morning.”
“Summer break is coming soon. You’ll be able to sleep in all you like.”
“Sadly I won’t have that much of a break. There are a few things I need to do in order to catch up with the rest of the class.”
“No, it’s fine. My birthday is coming up. That’s something to look forward to.”
“When is it? My birthday is coming up soon too. August 26th.”
“I exaggerated a bit. People tend to do that when their birthday is involved. Anyway, it’s September 7th.”
“Do you have any plans? For your birthday.”
“No. Maybe just have me some cake. What about you?”
“My sister wants to throw a party but I don’t think I want one.”
“How old are you turning?”
“Sixteen. Nothing too special.”
“I mean every birthday is special. You survived another year with the people you care about.”
It got silent between them.
“Well, I should probably head to class. See you around, Ryohei-san.”
“Yeah, see ya.”
Today is starting off really good.
It was the last class of the day. Home economics.
The day was very quiet. Too quiet for Namimori, so Isabella had her guard up.
The girls were giving what they made in class to the boys but Isabella didn’t get a chance to make anything.
She was a bit too focused on trying something new for Lambo’s training to get anything made.
Isabella went to the side to avoid getting in people’s way.
“Tsuna-kun, would you like a piece?” An auburn-haired girl asked Sawada.
I think that girl has a class with us. Her name begins with a K I think. Ky- Ki something.
Sawada jumped back in disgust.
The girl frowned.
“Do you not like sweet things?”
Isabella raised an eyebrow.
Does she not see that her cake is now purple and has worms going through it?
Isabella scanned the classroom.
I’ve heard about this before. Poison cooking. There’s only one person I’ve heard of that has it.
“Poison Scorpion Bianchi,” she murmured.
“What did you say?”
She turned towards the voice.
“Did you make anything?” he asked.
“No, didn’t have any time to make anything.”
“I really wanted to see what you made.”
“Maybe another time.”
“NO!” Sawada yelled.
Sawada smacked the cake to the ground.
Isabella tensed up at the sound.
Who was that?
Isabella looked around and noticed in the building next to them was Reborn. He had a sniper rifle in his hands. The two shots hit Sawada in his stomach and his head.
He landed on the floor.
Isabella twitched violently.
That’s not disturbing.
A flame appeared on his head and he got up. However, all his clothes except his boxers were destroyed.
“REBORN! I’LL EAT CAKE WITH MY DYING WILL!”
So that’s how it happens.
Sawada then began speeding around the room, eating cake as he went.
“SAWADA!” the boys yelled.
All the cake was gone.
“There’s ….. no more cake?” a small voice asked.
Standing in the doorway was a sad Lambo.
She turned to him.
Who keeps letting him wander around?
Tears welled in his eyes and he started crying.
“Gotta …. Stay …. Calm.”
Isabella tried to get over to him but she was blocked by people.
He pulled out the Ten Year Bazooka and hit himself with it.
Isabella felt her cheeks heat up.
Now is not the time for this.
“Romeo. You’re Romeo,” Bianchi said. Pink dusted on her cheeks.
Isabella’s eye twitched.
I’m sure you just saw him turn from a child to an ‘adult’. So no, it’s not Romeo.
“You were still alive. I’ll get you this time. Take this ‘Poison Cooking’!”
She had a triple layer cake in her hands and threw it at him. He easily dodged the cake.
“Sorry to disappoint but I’m not Romeo. And I advise you not to look at me like that again. I have a jealous wife.”
He glanced at Isabella out the corner of his eye.
He just confirmed something with that glance.
“Wife?! You’re only 15 years old!” Tsuna exclaimed.
“What can I say? I’m in love.” He said with a shrug.
That was cheesy …. but still cute.
“Lambo-san has candy!!!”
“Lambo, this is my last class. Wait out front for me ok?”
“I want you to change directions at random times when you’re running.”
Isabella and Lambo were at the training grounds.
“As a hitman, you would most likely have to turn on a dime. Being able to make quick directional changes could save your life. Now go. Run!”
Lambo started running around the park.
She decided something right there on the spot.
Lambo stopped running for a minute before running in the opposite direction.
“That pause could have cost you your life!”
The training continued like that, leaving poor Lambo a painting mess.
“ I’m sure I have some ice cream at home. Since you didn’t get any cake today.”
She picked Lambo up and started heading home.
Today was an interesting day, to say the least. Tomorrow is another day in the eventful Namimori.
Chapter 8: Chapter 7: Mostly Cloudy
Chapter 7: Mostly Cloudy
Isabella groaned as she walked to school.
"It's supposed to be my summer vacation. Why must I go to school!?"
Isabella knew exactly why she needed to go to school, she was just being dramatic.
She was behind in work. Due to her not doing work when she was taking online classes.
Isabella yawned loudly.
"I wonder what Lambo's doing. He didn't come by this morning."
Isabella realized a lot has happened since she moved. She thought over everything that has happened since she came. And the weirdest thing is still those dreams. First electricity, then a dream.
"I really need to figure out what these dreams are supposed to mean."
She shrugged as she got closer to the school.
"Ohayo Kyoya-san," she said walking past him.
Isabella stopped and looked at him.
Is he sick? He didn't say 'hn' before he said good morning. Finally, after greeting him nearly every day for over a month, he greets me like normal. I wonder why.
"Shouldn't you be heading to class?"
"Hai hai. I'll be going now."
Isabella went inside and meandered to class.
Since it's summer, nearly no one is at school except people who need to catch up on work.
"Ohaya Sawada-san. Ohayo, Yamamoto-san."
Sawada was surprised the first day to see Isabella at summer school. Yamamoto thought it was an accident. Until she explained and Yamamoto was surprised too.
"Another summer's day spent at school. Oh, the shame."
"Ha ha. At least you understand what you're doing."
"Yamamoto-kun is right. I don't understand anything and if I don't pass, I won't advance."
"Maybe I can help the two of you out after can have like a study session or something."
"Yeah, that sounds like fun! What do you say, Tsuna?"
"Uhh sure. We can have it at my house."
"Great! I can't wait!"
Isabella was heading to Sawada's house.
The three of them decided to split up for lunch before meeting at Sawada's.
She made sure to ask for directions before leaving the school.
"This is it!"
This house is familiar. Was I here before?
She went to the door and ringed the doorbell.
A woman opened the door.
"You're that lady that helped me find the shopping district two months ago!"
Isabella bowed deeply.
"Thank you so much for your kindness. It helps me still to this day."
"Are you a friend of Tsu-kun's?"
"Tsuna is up in his room."
Isabella came into the house.
"Oh! I'm Gurin Isabella."
Isabella stepped out of her shoes and headed upstairs.
She knocked on a random door. Sawada's mother didn't tell her which room was Sawada's.
The door opened revealing the spiky, brown haired teen.
Isabella came into his room and sat on the floor.
Sawada came and sat down across from her.
"You're the first person."
"I see. Where's Reborn?"
"I don't k- Gah!"
Reborn hit into the back of Sawada's head.
"You moved her two months ago, right."
"Do you like Namimori, Gurin-chan?" Sawada asked.
"There's never a dull moment. It wasn't like this back in Italy."
"You lived in Italy?"
"Mmmhmm. I'm half 's why I have such a weird accent to some people. I'm used to speaking Italian."
"Is the other half Japanese?" Sawada questioned.
"I don't know for sure what the other half is but I do know I'm not Japanese."
"How can you speak Japanese then?"
"I father wanted me to learn as many languages as I can."
"It's not that great."
She moved here the day after I arrived….. She ran into Tsuna as well. Her leaving Italy, the same place I was, doesn't sound right.
"Ano, you got here pretty fast. Do you live close by?" Sawada asked.
"I live about a neighborhood or two over."
Reborn's frown deepened.
She seems to live very near by too. I need to keep my eye on her.
Unlike Gokudera's arrival, Reborn had no idea that Isabella was coming to Italy. He honestly doesn't know who Isabella is.
"Are you apart of a famiglia, Isabella?" Reborn asked.
"Oh heavens no! I barely left the house in Italy. I didn't even go to public school. My father would not approve of that."
"Who is your father?" Sawada asked.
"He's a scientist."
"Wow! That's cool. My father disappeared almost a year ago."
"I'm sorry to hear that Sawada-san."
"It's ok. He was no good anyway."
"That's mean Sawada-san. People call you that, I'm sure you don't like it."
"But I am no good. And so was my dad."
"Maybe you should look at yourself differently. You have friends and family that care about you. I don't think you're no good. I doubt Yamamoto-san and Gokudera-san do either. You shouldn't have to think you're no good, Sawada-san."
"Call me Tsuna. I did say everyone calls me that when we met, right?"
"Only if you call me Isabella."
Isabella smiled. Tsuna smiled back.
The two of them jumped when his room door opened.
"Ciao!" Isabella greeted.
"You're already here!" Yamamoto commented.
"Hai. I don't live that far away."
"Cool. Let's get started!"
Isabella finished her worksheet already. She gave help but Reborn said not to give too much. So she didn't. Now she was waiting for Sawa-Tsuna and Yamamoto to finish.
"I wasn't able to figure out what question seven was," Yamamoto said.
"Gahaha! You're still stupid, Yamamoto!" Gokudera said.
He sounded a bit like Lambo just then.
"That's not nice to say, Gokudera-san," Isabella stated
"Question seven is …. I don't get it …."
Isabella smirked at that.
"Eh!" Tsuna yelled."If we can't solve all of it, we're gonna fail, right?"
"Why didn't you say that?!" Gokudera yelled.
"Hmmm?" Isabella was doodling in her notebook.
She was drawing rain clouds, and little tornados, and even used her blue pen to simulate the sky.
"Did you get the answer for number seven?"
"Wha? You did?!"
"How?! What is the answer?!" Gokudera asked.
"Don't tell them, Isabella. They need to figure it out for themselves," Reborn spoke up.
"Reborn, if we don't get the answer we won't advance."
"Then figure something out. Without Isabella's help."
"It's ok, Tenth. We don't need her anyway."
Isabella pursed her lips.
Twenty minutes went by and they still didn't know the answer.
"Who are you? I'm Lambo. Who am I? I'm Lambo." Lambo sang as he climbed into Tsuna's window.
"Not him!" she heard Tsuna whisper.
"Lambo," Isabella called to him.
"Isabella-chan!" He finished climbing in and went over to Isabella, giving her a hug.
"Ciao buddy," she kissed his forehead.
"Lambo-san went to your house but you weren't there."
"Yeah I was he- wait, Lambo, why are you here?"
"He lives here …. unfortunately," Tsuna said, murmuring the last word.
That's why Tsuna's house looked familiar. Shame on me for not remembering.
"Would you like to go to the store with me?"
"Well, I'll see you guys tomorrow."
"Matte Isabella-chan, we need the answer for question seven,"Tsuna yelled.
Tsuna was hit in the back of the head.
"I said figure it out yourself."
"We're gonna fail," Tsuna cried.
"I'm sure you guys can figure it out. Come now, Lambo."
Isabella grabbed her things and Lambo's hand.
As Isabella was leaving, she saw a girl in a uniform standing outside Tsuna's house.
"You can't see me!" she yelled crouching closer to a fence.
"Does cake sound good, Lambo? I'm craving something sweet."
"Cake, cake, cake!"
Lambo and Isabella were at the park. They decided to make it kind of like a picnic.
About half of the cake was gone.
"I ate way more cake than I should have," she murmured, closing the box.
Lambo was running around on the playground.
"Hey there beautiful~."
She turned towards the voice and saw a group of five guys.
She rolled her eyes and didn't respond.
"What's a pretty thing like you doing out her all by yourself?"
"I'm not by myself. I'm here with a friend."
"I don't see anyone else here. Unless you talking about that kid."
Lambo was on top of the slide yelling.
"Guyahaha, Lambo-san is the greatest!"
"And what if I am?"
The guy and his friends laughed.
"Hey, why don't you ditch the kid and hang with us," another guy said.
"Uhh, no thanks. I'm good."
"I find it funny you thought you had a choice."
The guy closest to her grabbed her wrist.
She pulled her arm away and elbowed the guy in the face.
"If you think I'm gonna just go with you, you're mistaken."
The guy she elbowed recovered from the punch and tried to left hook her in the face.
She dodged it and punched him in the stomach. He crumpled to the ground.
Two of the guys charged at her. She sidestepped them and punched one in the face and uppercutted the other.
The next guy charged at her.
Isabella shoot forward and swiped his feet from under fell, smacking his face on the concrete.
The only guy left was the one who called at her.
Lambo was flailing widely in his arms. The guy had a knife to his neck.
"If you make any sudden moves, I'll kill this little brat."
Tears were streaming down Lambo's face.
Isabella reached her hand behind her to grab he-.
"Put your hands up. You don't need to be reaching behind you."
She raised her arms up high.
"What are we gonna do now?" she asked.
"Come here. Walk slowly to me."
Isabella took her time getting over to him.
When she was close enough to him, he threw Lambo to the ground and wrapped a hand around Isabella's neck.
"You are gonna come wi-"
"Ah! You bitch. You shot me!"
Isabella pushed him to the ground. Blood was seeping fast from his leg.
"Let that bullet wound be a lesson to leave people alone when they say no."
She picked Lambo up off the ground.
"It's ok, buddy."
Isabella cuddled Lambo to her chest.
Then she went to the table, grabbed their things, and left the five guys in the park.
Unbeknownst to Isabella, someone watched the whole scene.
Isabella arrived home and put Lambo down on the couch.
He had fallen asleep on their way there.
"I can take a quick nap before starting dinner."
Isabella jumped awake.
"Who could that be?"
She got up from the couch and opened the door.
Isabella opened the door and was surprised by who she saw.
"Can I come in?"
"How do you know where I live?"
"Hn. Followed you from the park."
That's not creepy.
"I guess you can come in. I was about to make dinner."
Kyoya came inside and looked around.
"Are you parents home?"
"No, cause I live alone. My father is in Italy."
"And your mother?"
"Let's not talk about that. Anyway, why are you here?"
"Hn. I saw what you did at the park. I'm impressed."
"Thank you. I guess? I was just defending myself."
"I want to fight you."
"I want to know how strong you are."
Isabella pursed her lips.
Hmmmm. On one hand that's a very weird request. On the other, I haven't fought anyone in a while. Formally, I guess you can say.
"Meet me in the disciplinary room."
He turned towards the door and started to leave.
"Why don't you stay for dinner? It won't take me too long to cook."
He shook his head and continued.
"Are you sure you don't want to stay?"
Kyoya's stomach growled again.
He turned around and sat down on the couch.
"Dinner should be ready in a bit."
The three of them ate dinner in silence.
Lambo woke up while Isabella finished up dinner.
He didn't say anything to Kyoya and Kyoya didn't say anything to him.
Isabella shared out the food.
They ate in a, somewhat, comfortable silence.
Isabella grabbed the plates once everyone was done.
Kyoya got up from his seat.
"Ano, would you like dessert? I have some cake in the fridge."
"Hn. A small piece," he said sitting back down.
Isabella cut each of them a piece.
Lambo finished his cake in a hurry and asked for more.
"Iie. You already ate more than enough cake today."
"Lambo-san has to leave."
"So you have to leave now that you can't have cake? Ok then, see you tomorrow, Lambo."
Lambo got up and headed for the door.
Isabella and Kyoya were sitting at the table, eating their cake in silence.
This is …. weirdly nice.
"Hn. Don't forget."
With that, Kyoya got up and left.
Isabella looked around her house in thought.
It would be nice to have more people over for dinner.
Chapter 9: Chapter 8: Clouds and Sunshine
Warnings: Mentions of blood and violence
Chapter 8: Clouds and Sunshine
Isabella stared off in thought. Today was a special day. It's Ryohei's birthday. Though her and Ryohei aren't that close, she does consider him a friend or something like that.
"Should I make something? I could probably buy him a cupcake from the cake shop in the shopping district."
She thought it over for a second before nodding. "Sounds like a plan."
She flung the covers off her body. She got ready and headed out for training.
"Ohayo Ryohei-san. Happy Birthday."
Pink tinged his cheeks.
Isabella nodded with a smile.
"I was wondering if you want to hang out today, after school?" he asked.
"Sure. That sounds fun."
A bright smile made its way onto Ryohei's face.
Something flashed in Ryohei's eyes.
What was that?
"Great! See you then."
The two of them went their separate ways.
"This is going to be fun," Isabella murmured to herself.
Isabella came home from training a while ago. She was now making her lunch for school.
"Kyoya-san wants me to meet him in the disciplinary room but I don't know where that is."
She shrugged. "I guess I'm winging it."
She ate a light breakfast before heading to school.
Kyoya wasn't at the front of the school when she arrived.
That's a little weird.
She continued to class.
"Yamamoto-san, Tsuna-san, Ohayo."
"Hey Isabella," Yamamoto greeted.
She took her seat and got ready for class.
Lunchtime arrived and Isabella was excited to eat.
"Lunchtime. One of the best times of the day."
Isabella went up to the roof to find her usual spot. She was surprised to see people there already.
"You beat me to my spot."
"D-do you want us to move?" Tsuna asked.
"Nope," she plopped down in between them. "We are friends after all."
Isabella opened her bento box and immediately began eating.
"That looks good, can I have some? I'll give you some of my lunch," Yamamoto proposed.
"I've never had sushi before."
"Then you should definitely try this one. It's from my Dad's shop."
"TakeSushi. Which I assume he named after you?"
The smile that formed on Yamamoto's face made his eyes sparkle.
"I'll take that as a yes. I'll try some. Tsuna-san, would you like some of my food too?"
"I uh don't have a-anything to trade."
"That's fine. You're my friend it doesn't matter."
"I've noticed you stopped calling Tsuna 'Sawada-san'. You can call me Takeshi if you want," Ya-Takeshi said.
"Of course, Takeshi-san."
Takeshi nodded and went back to eating.
The three of them happily ate until lunch was over.
Isabella tapped her pencil against her desk. She was half paying attention to her English teacher.
English was a language she already knew but she still has to take the class.
"Gurin, recite the sentence on the board."
" 'The pretty girl loves colorful flowers.'"
The teacher nodded before calling on someone else.
The classroom door slowly opened, revealing a Disciplinary Committee member.
"Your presence is needed in the disciplinary room."
"You can go. You've completed all the work needed for this class anyway," the teacher commented.
She gathered her things and got up.
She followed behind the person, getting a few looks here and there.
He stopped in front of a door and opened it for her.
She walked in and he closed the door behind her.
"Iie, I remembered. I just had no idea where the disciplinary room was. And you weren't at the front gate this morning."
Honestly, what is up with this guy? He barely talks and when he does it's a sound.
"Could you speak in actual words instead of one monotonous syllable?"
Kyoya narrowed his eyes at her.
Isabella's eyebrow twitched.
She decided to sit down on one of the sofas in the room. She looked around the room, avoiding Kyoya's stare.
This room is prett-
Isabella jumped from the couch, landing on one of her knees.
A tonfa now laid on the sofa.
"Maybe I should talk more. Maybe not. I won't be taken suggestions from anyone."
That 'speech' started the fight.
Kyoya shot out of his chair and charged at Isabella.
She quickly got to her feet and prepared for the oncoming attack.
Isabella ducked and dodged the well-placed swings of his tonfas. Kyoya swung down hard when she ducked under one of his caught it with her hand and flinched at the pain.
She ripped the tonfa from his grasp and flinged it across the room. Kyoya brought the other tonfa down just as hard but she rolled out of the way.
Isabella jumped behind the couch, putting some space in between them.
The look in Kyoya's eyes was … animalistic. At one point she was sure they flashed purple.
He charged at her again.
Isabella ran forward meeting him mid-charge. She jabbed him sharply in his forearm, causing his hold on the tonfa to release.
She grabbed him by his shirt collar and raised her fist.
Isabella stared into his eyes. Both of their breathing was a bit labored and Isabella was sure her hand was bleeding.
"Are we done here?" she asked.
"Join the Disciplinary Committee."
Isabella let go of him. She cringed at the blood at his collar.
"You heard me."
"I did. I just don't know why you would want me to."
"Good for the committee."
" I don't know. If the other committee members look anything like the one that 'escorted' me here, I doubt I fit the criteria."
Isabella rolled her eyes.
Maybe it won't be a bad thing. I'm just making sure people are following the rules … I think.
"Look I don't know for sure if I want to join the committee just yet. Give me some time to think about it."
"Hn. Go to the nurse."
Isabella collected her items and headed to the nurse's office.
She looked at her hand in thought. She was sure she felt something during the fight.
I must have accidentally touched his chest. I now have a weird dream coming my way.
No one was inside when she arrived, not even the nurse.
I guess I'm waiting.
Isabella waited for a few minutes before the door opened. She sat up straight, assuming it was the nurse.
Wide silver eyes met her curious gaze. "Ryohei-san?"
A small smile spread across his face.
"Isabella-chan. What are you doing here?"
"I got into a fight," Ryohei's eyebrows knitted together and his smile fell, "with myself. I was walking down some steps and tripped. I bruised my hand pretty badly in the process. I'm just waiting for the nurse to show up."
Ryohei still looked a bit tensed but he eventually nodded.
The door opened again and this time it really was the nurse.
"Sasagawa, I hope you're not roughing up any young ladies."
"It's nothing like that. I came looking for you because Tameko-Sensei wanted you. Isabella-chan was already in here."
"Yes, I just came from speaking with him." She turned to Isabella. "And what might you need, young lady?"
"I need a bandage for my hand. I was clumsy and tripped on the steps, bruising my hand."
"Alright, I'll get that bandaged for you in no time."
The nurse started to gather the necessary things for her hand.
"You can go back to class, Sasagawa."
"See you later, Ryohei-san."
He nodded then left.
"This is going to sting a bit."
"Things hurt sometimes in order to heal completely."
The day had ended and Isabella stood at the front gate waiting for Ryohei.
Her eyes wandered over to her bandaged hand.
Tsuna and Takeshi were worried when they saw she came back with a wound.
A smile came to her face.
I'm making friends, Dad.
She turned towards the voice and found Takeshi walking towards here.
" You usually leave immediately after are you waiting for?"
"I'm waiting for a …. friend."
Do I consider him a friend? Does he consider me a friend?
"You don't sound too sure."
"I mean they're technically the second person I met when I first moved here. But we don't really talk like that."
"Hm. Sounds complicated."
"Hopefully today clear things up."
"I gonna practice a bit before heading home. Have fun with your friend."
"Don't work yourself too hard."
"I'll try not too."
Takeshi headed towards the field and Isabella went back to observing the scenery.
Isabella stared straight up at the sky. Looking at the few clouds that were passing by. Some looked dark, possibly rain clouds. But the sun stood out. Shining bright no matter what.
She felt someone come up behind her. It had to be Ryohei because everyone else just went around her.
"When I was little, my Father told me the sun was one of our greatest resources. It helps people without even trying. But it can harm people the same way. It's good to have something even it out so we aren't blinded by its greatness."
She smiled up at the sky before turning to Ryohei.
"Are you ready to go?"
Ryohei and Isabella walked side-by-side down the road.
"You're sixteen right, Ryohei-san?"
"Congrats on sixteen years of life! I'm turning fourteen in September."
"Are your parents doing anything for your birthday?"
Isabella's face … fell.
Even though she has been making friends, not having anyone to go home to is lonely. She can't even call her father, the only family she knows.
I probably can't call him for the same reason why I was suddenly sent to Japan.
"I live alone…. I'm not doing anything for my birthday really. This is the first time I won't celebrate it with my father."
She felt a hand on her shoulder.
She stopped and turned to Ryohei.
"I'm sorry to hear that. At least you have friends to keep you company."
"Yeah I do," she nodded, "like right now."
The two of them ended up in the shopping district. Looking around and enjoying the sites.
They were walking by a jewelry store and she stopped in her tracks.
I've seen that necklace before …. but where?
"Whatchu' lookin' at?"
"This necklace here. It looks familiar."
"It looks like cow horns."
That's right! 'Adult' Lambo was wearing something just like this.
"I wonder how much it cost."
Isabella caught sight of the price and had to close her eyes.
$250? That's crazy. That's half my allowance. I can afford it but why spend so much money on one item.
Isabella shook her head.
"Ryohei-san, I'll be back in a sec. I have to use the bathroom."
"I'll be here."
Isabella scurried off towards a bathroom but detoured once Ryohei was out of sight.
Now to get the birthday boy something sweet.
She arrived at the cake shop and got in line. The person in front of her was wearing the Namimori uniform.
She goes to my school. I think I might have seen her before. Now is a great time to make a female friend.
"I couldn't help but notice you're wearing the Namimori uniform. Maybe we have some classes together."
The girl turned around. She had auburn hair and soft brown eyes.
"Ahh, you're the new girl Isabella-chan! I'm Kyoko."
Isabella smiled. She has heard many things about Kyoko. All good.
"It's nice to meet you Kyoko-chan. Might I ask what you're getting?"
"My brother's birthday is today and I'm getting a cake for him."
"I'm getting a cupcake myself. It's a surprise for my friend."
"That's so nice of you, Isabella-chan."
"I try. Were you at school today, Kyoko-chan?"
"Hai, I was keeping an eye on my brother so he wouldn't cause any trouble."
"That's sweet. Looking out for your brother."
The girls smiled at each other before Kyoko was called to the counter.
Kyoko got the cake and was leaving. "I hope your friend likes the cupcake."
"I hope your brother likes the cake."
Kyoko smiled at Isabella one last time before leaving.
True to his word, Ryohei was still in the same spot.
"It took you awhile. Did you get -"
"Happy Birthday!" Isabella held the cupcake in both her hands, offering it to him.
She didn't know what flavor to get him, so she played it safe with vanilla.
"It's your birthday silly. It's a gift from me to you."
Ryohei looked over the cupcake then at Isabella. He tentatively took it from her.
The two of them wandered around some more before they decided to call it a day.
The sky was died orange and pink from the setting sun.
"I can walk you home," Ryohei offered.
"You don't have to do that."
"I know. I want to though."
They walked in a comfortable silence all the way to her house.
"This is me. I had a lot of fun today, Ryohei-san."
"Me too. We should do it again sometime."
Isabella opened the door and let herself in.
She flashed a smile before going in.
"Having friends is so weird," she said before heading upstairs.
Outside, Ryohei walked home with his head in the clouds.
He could feel his face heating up as the cool summer breeze hit his face.
I … I think I have a crush on Isabella-chan.
Chapter 10: Chapter 9: Textbook Forecast
Chapter 9: Textbook Forecast
School is officially back in session. And Isabella couldn't be happier.
She spent only five days of summer without school work and it was torturous.
One of the things that kept her sane was training Lambo. He has improved a lot since they first started.
The other thing was the dream she had about Kyoya, the same day she fought him.
A woman adorned with a black kimono was sitting in an empty dojo. The only other thing in the dojo was a tea set that was sitting in front of her.
The black kimono had sakura petals all over it. It fit her body perfectly, even with the added roundness of her stomach.
It seemed like she was waiting for so often she would rub a hand over her belly in thought.
"Your Tou-san is going to be here soon."
No long after the door slid open to reveal a man in a suit.
The woman turned with a bright smile on her face.
"You finally made….it. Why are you wearing that?"
The smile slid off her face, leaving confusion in its wake.
"I have a mission," was his reply.
The woman shook her head.
"But you said you were going to spend some time with us." Her eyes stung with tears.
" What the fuck Kyoya?"
Tears streamed down her pained face.
His hands were clenched into fists.
He wanted to stay, he really did but this was a last minute thing that needed to be done.
"There wasn't anyone else that could do it. I'm sorry. When I come back I promise I will spend time with the both of you," he kissed her head then her stomach.
"I love you both," he got up and left.
Isabella shook her head.
"These dreams are really getting out of hand. It directly says his name. I don't even have feelings for him. I doubt he has feelings for me "
Isabella got dressed and headed out for her training.
Ryohei avoided her eyes.
"Ohayo," he muttered.
Isabella raised an eyebrow.
Ever since his birthday eight days ago, he's been acting very withdrawn.
I hope everything's ok.
She reached the training grounds and immediately got into it.
"I should increase my training too. I have been working hard these past few months."
Isabella was walking to school, flinching every step of the way.
"I made a bad decision. My legs are beyond sore and it's the first day back to school. At least there was some good this morning."
When she came home from training there was a small package waiting for her.
It was from her was one of the many things she left behind.
"I'm so happy to have it with me again."
Isabella could see the school gate in the distance. She also saw Kyoya.
Shit. It's Kyoya.
He had been randomly attacking her every day since they fought. Isabella has been thinking about it but she's still not sure.
She made her way to the gate.
"Have you thought about it?"
"I have. But when you're randomly attacked every which way, it makes it a bit hard to think."
Isabella continued to her class.
"Hm." Gokudera huffed.
He didn't respond.
Isabella sat down in her seat.
"How were your days off?"Takeshi asked.
"Boring. I barely did anything. I actually happy to be in school. I don't know what I was complaining about when I had to catch up on work."
"It's nice to be around friends."
"It sure is. Speaking of which, where's Tsuna-san?"
"He most likely late."
"The Tenth is never late! He arrives when he's needed," Gokudera stated.
"Well, school is about to start soon. He needs to hurry," Isabella said.
Gokudera glared at Isabella.
She just rolled her eyes.
Tsuna did arrive late, which prompted a scolding from the teacher.
The four of them were heading to their next class.
"I can't believe what I got myself into," Tsuna whined.
"What happened, Tsuna-san?" Isabella asked.
"Sasagawa-onii-san wants me to join the boxing club."
"Ryohei-san is in the boxing club?"
"Hai. He's the president of the club," Takeshi explained.
Isabella was a bit shocked. She didn't expect Ryohei to be in such a club let alone the president.
He's such a quiet and reserved guy though.
"You'll do fine Tenth. Your strength is unmatched," Gokudera encouraged.
Tsuna didn't look convinced.
"Well, Ryohei-san is a pretty understanding guy. I'm sure you can just tell him you don't want to join. He should understand that you don't want t do it," Isabella commented.
"Yeah, that's what I plan to do."
Gokudera narrowed his eyes at Isabella.
What does this woman have planned?
They arrived at the next class and immediately sat down.
"It's the bane of my existence. Math." Tsuna murmured in front of her.
"It's ok Tsuna-san. We can have study groups like we did during the summer."
"Hai! That would really help."
The teacher began going over the lesson.
Isabella could see where both Tsuna and Takeshi got lost. Gokudera more or less ignored what the teacher had to say.
The teacher was writing problems on the board when the door opened.
It was a disciplinary committee member. The same one that escorted her last time.
He's probably here for someone else.
"You are needed in the Disciplinary Committee Room."
"Can this wait till after class?"
"Iie. You are needed now."
"Dammit," she muttered.
She gathered her things and started leaving.
"Class isn't over! You have homework tonight," the teacher complained.
"My friends will grab the work for me. I'll make sure it gets done. It'll be bad for everyone if I don't go."
The teacher huffed and went back to writing problems on the board.
Isabella followed behind the member in silence.
"Ano, you know my name but I don't know yours."
"Nice to meet you, Kusakabe-san. Do you know why I'm needed?"
"Hai. The president wants you to join the committee. I'm quite surprised. I don't think Hibari-san has shown this must interest in a woman."
So I'm have intrigued him. That doesn't mean he has feelings for me. I doubt he has many feelings for people at all. He acts like everyone is a nuisance. Except if you can fight, apparently.
"You've done something to catch his attention."
"I don't know if that's a good or bad thing."
They reached the committee room in no time.
Kusakabe left as soon as she was inside.
Isabella went over to the sofa and threw her books down.
She plopped down onto the sofa as well.
"Kyoya-san. Hello, how are you?"
Kyoya narrowed his eyes at her cheery attitude.
That's what he gets.
"It's been more than a week."
"I'm well aware. But as I told you this morning, you randomly attacking me doesn't help your cause."
Kyoya threw one of his tonfas at her. She caught it before it did damage.
"Why do you keep trying to hit me in the face!"
Isabella tossed it onto the couch.
"I've talked with my second in command."
Isabella grimaced when she saw her hand was bleeding again.
I think the wound reopened.
"He thinks you'll be good for the committee too."
"I need solitary time to think. I know it's been eight days but I never had the proper time to think about it."
"Hn. You can go."
Isabella collected her things and left.
The door opened and Kusakabe was on the other side.
"She said she'll think about it," Kyoya said.
"Wait. You're Kyoya-san's second in command?"
"I didn't see that coming. I'll tell you my decision as soon as I come to one."
With that, Isabella left and headed for the Nurse's office.
It was lunchtime and Tsuna, Hayato, and Takeshi were on the roof.
"Isabella-chan hasn't returned yet. I'm a bit concerned." Tsuna said.
"Don't worry Tenth. I'm sure that woman is fine."
That woman is nothing but trouble. She did save me but what motives does she have? Maybe she's trying to get to the Tenth. Everywhere I turn she happens to be in the same place the Tenth was.
Reborn-san said that she's from Italy and she arrived around the same time I did. If her intentions were like how mine were then…. She's trying to kill the Tenth. I won't let that happen.
"What's with that look, Gokudera?" Takeshi asked.
"It's none of your damn business, baseball freak!" Hayato yelled.
"Hayato, that's not nice," someone said.
Bianchi was standing near the wall in a Namimori girl's uniform.
His stomach groaned loudly and he fell to the floor with a pained look on his face.
"When will he grow up?"
"Tsuna, take him to the nurse," Reborn said.
"Why me?" he asked.
"Do it or you die," Reborn said, pointing a gun at him.
"HIIIIEEEEEE! Ok ok. I'll take him," Tsuna said.
He struggled to pick Hayato up. It was futile. Tsuna then heard a click and struggled faster knowing Reborn just cocked his gun.
"Let me help you Tsuna," Takeshi said.
"Ahh thanks, Yamamoto-kun," Tsuna said with gratitude.
Takeshi practically flung Hayato over his shoulder.
I don't think he would appreciate that.
Hayato eyes fluttered open.
Where am I?
Nothing but white surrounded him.
He sat up and his eyes narrowed at what he saw.
The curtain surrounding his bed was slightly open on one side.
"You should really watch your step, Sweetheart," the nurse said.
"I know. The steps just don't support me like they do everyone else. Sometimes my own feet trip me up."
The nurse shook her head.
"Well until the steps finally support you, I will bandage you up."
The nurse skillfully wrapped her hand.
"I'm going on my lunch break but you're free to go. You too, Gokudera."
The nurse turned and left.
I'm hungry. I should have enough time to eat something.
"I have you figured out."
Isabella stopped what she was doing and turned towards Gokudera.
"I have you figured out. I don't know how long you thought your plan was going to last, but it's over now."
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Oh don't play dumb with me bitch. You know exactly what I'm talking about!"
"I don't know what the fuck you're talking about. You are the one that has had a problem with me. So don't come at me with your bullshit."
Gokudera got off of the bed and pulled out a few sticks of dynamite. He lit a cigarette and put it in his mouth.
"I won't let you succeed."
Isabell jumped away from Gokudera.
She had an idea of how he fought. She needed to distinguish all the dynamite so it didn't damage anything.
She pulled out the gift from her father. Her bladeless sword.
"And what do you plan to do with that useless thing?"
"Why don't you wait and find out?"
Gokudera lit and threw four pieces of dynamite at her.
Her blade lit up with flames.
Isabella furrowed her eyebrows.
Vivid orange flames with flickering red on the end.
She sliced the dynamite. The flame went out as soon as the blade came in contact with it.
What the fuck is that? The flame is orange like the Tenth's but it's not on her forehead.
Isabella took his silence as a chance to charge towards him.
She was right in front of him now. She flipped her sword. She had the hilt raised and aimed for Gokudera's head.
"Don't think you've won."
Gokudera flicked a miniature dynamite in between them.
Isabella jumped back to avoid it. Gokudera did as well.
The small explosion caused dust in the room to fly around.
Where the hell is she?
Gokudera had two dynamite sticks in each of his hands. He bit down on the cigarette.
He took a shot in the dark and threw the four plus four more dynamite into the smoke. But as quick as he threw them, the flame was gone.
The dynamite fell to the ground, useless.
Shit, she's fast.
He grabbed some more dynamite. Preparing for her to attack.
"It's not safe to throw dynamite in such a confined space."
Gokudera tensed up.
He tried to turn around in time but he was too slow.
She chopped him in the back of the neck with her hand.
His entire body gave out from under him and he collapsed.
"I don't know where you got your facts from so let me clear this up. I was sent by no organization, no mafia famiglia, nothing like that. I have no reason to attack Tsuna-san. I don't give a flying fuck about his title. I came to Namimori because my father wanted me to have a better life. Leave me out of your mafia bullshit!"
Isabella snatched up her things and left.
Great. Now I have no time to eat anything.
Shit. She defeated me.
Gokudera struggled to get up but he couldn't move.
Unbeknownst to both of them, Reborn saw the whole exchange of words and attacks.
She says she has no ties to the mafia and only her father sent her. Yet, for someone so 'antisocial' and 'introverted', she seems to talk with others too also has the fighting skills to take down Gokudera. There's something she's not telling us.
The hostility between Isabella and Gokudera continued throughout the day. It nearly bubbled to the surface a few times but nothing bad happened.
"I'm heading home. Good luck with Ryohei-san," Isabella said.
"Bye Isabella," Takeshi said.
"Bye Isabella-chan and thanks for the well wishes. I need them," Tsuna said.
Gokudera stared down Isabella as she left.
Isabella purposefully didn't look back at him.
"No good woman," he muttered.
Isabella was heading for the training grounds when she sensed someone behind her.
Hmm. I should feel for their aura.
Ever since she could remember, she could feel people's auras. Only later did she find out the flame was coming from the aura.
She could sense people's auras but it can't tell her anything about the person. If it's someone she knew, she could tell them apart from the rest though.
I know this strong ass aura anywhere.
"Kyoya-san, you don't have to follow me around. I already told you I'll give my answer when I'm ready."
She stopped and turned around.
Sure enough, Kyoya stepped from behind a wall.
"I see you as someone who charges forward and ask questions later. To see you actually hiding is a bit creepy."
Kyoya stopped right in front of Isabella.
Standing so close, Isabella realized they're about the same height.
That's kind of funny.
One of the things she was bullied about was her height. She was always a tall child and even now as a teenager. She looks some guys straight into their eyes and they don't like that.
"Where are you headed?" he asked.
"Why must you know? Are you just going to randomly attack me?"
Isabella stared deeper into his eyes.
"I want to know what you do to be so strong," he said, unfazed by the eye contact.
"Alright then. Follow me."
She broke eye contact and continued walking.
The two walked side-by-side in a, somewhat, comfortable silence.
When they arrived at the training grounds, Lambo was already running.
"It's the baby from the other day."
"That's Lambo. I'm training him."
"Hn. Could you train me too?"
Isabella's eyebrows furrowed together.
"I never had some defeat me before."
"I wouldn't call it that but I get your point. What you need training in is beyond physical strength."
Kyoya raised an eyebrow to that.
He's expressing emotion and it's freaking me out.
"What is it?"
"Meditation. I know that's not really your speed. As I said earlier act first, think second. But maybe thinking first may help."
"You mentioned auras earlier. What is that about?"
"An aura is a person's presence. You, for example, have a big aura. People can most likely tell when your angry or annoyed your aura flare up. But it can be used in all types of different ways. An aura can turn into a flame, which is tangible. Flames can be used to aid in battle."
"How do you turn an aura to a flame?"
Kyoya glared at her.
"I'm serious. That's how I found my flame, through meditation. It might be different for each person but starting with that wouldn't be so bad."
"Isabella-chan, Lambo-san is finished."
"Great! Come over here and sit in the grass with me. You can too if you want, Kyoya-san."
She plopped down into the grass no problem.
Lambo plopped down in the grass next to her.
Kyoya eased down to the ground.
"First we're going to close our eyes. I say we cause I'm doing it too."
They all closed their eyes and Isabella continued to explain.
"I want you to drown out everything. The sun on our backs. The breeze blowing by. Even my voice. Once you do that, dig deep inside of yourself and look for a flame. You'll know what it is when you see it. Once that happens, we'll go on from there."
Isabella followed her own instructions and drowned everything out.
It's been far too long since Isabella has meditated. She's sure her flame increased. And maybe those red flames from earlier were just a fluke.
Isabella's eyes shot open.
Neither Kyoya or Lambo stirred from the meditation.
Good. They're in deep. But what were all those flames I saw?
Isabella knew her orange flame well. It's the flame she started with. The five other flames were something else entirely.
Where did all these flames come from?
Isabella felt the hairs on her body stand on end. It was almost like her body was being charged by electricity.
"What's that?" she muttered.
Lambo's eyes fluttered open.
"Lambo-san thinks he found it."
"That's great. How do you feel?"
"Lambo-san feels … a lot."
"Hmm. What did the flame look like?"
I saw the same thing. One of my new flames looks more like a green ball of lightning.
"Can you tell me one thing you can feel?"
He pointed up t the sky.
"Something is coming."
Isabella looked up into the sky.
She felt something approaching as well.
The trees didn't give much clearance. But after a while, a plane did fly by.
"Interesting. You're most likely connecting with the electricity that resides in the earth and in the air around us. That's extremely useful. We will incorporate something to improve this soon."
A bright smile spread across Lambo's face.
"Lambo-san love you, Isabella-chan."
He stood on his tip toes and kissed her on the cheek.
"Your such a cutie," she said with a smile.
This isn't where 'adult' Lambo's feelings come from right? This is just a friend's love… right?
Isabella knitted her eyebrows in worry.
She saw movement in the corner of her eye.
"Kyoya-san did you find your flame?"
He opened his eyes and glared at the ground.
"I'll take that as a no."
The three of them just sat in the park.
Until the rain clouds rolled in and thunder was heard in the distance.
"Kyoya-san would you like to come over for dinner?"
The three of them got up and headed to Isabella's house.
Today was … particular long in different ways. At least I'm not having dinner by myself though.
Chapter 11: Chapter 10: Heavenly Celebration
Chapter 10: Heavenly Celebration
Isabella laid in bed wrapped up in her blanket.
“Today is my day.”
It was September 7th. Isabella was officially fourteen years old.
Her eyes wandered around the room before she sighed.
“I already told Lambo no training today. I should get dressed. I already slept in.”
By slept in, she meant laid in bed until 6:36.
Isabella sat up in bed and furrowed her eyebrows. Her clothes felt tighter. Her movements were a bit constricted. She got off the bed and headed to the bathroom.
“What the hell?!?”
Isabella couldn’t believe her eyes.
Her shirt was skin tight due to her breast obvious growth. Her pants had a few rips in them. She was sure she got a little taller. But the most startling thing was the freckles that adorned her cheeks.
“Hi growth spurt. You showed up all at once.”
This was quite impossible. People don’t experience growth spurts overnight. It’s a gradual thing. While this was just all at once.
Isabella ran her hand through her hair, which she realized also grew longer.
“I’m gonna have to buy new clothes. I don’t have anything that really fits.”
Isabella went back into her room. She grabbed a robe and wrapped herself in it.
“I can’t go to school if I have no underwear that fits. I’m getting a wedgie as I speak.”
She grabbed her phone and wallet before heading outside.
“I hope I’m not late for school today,” she muttered, speed walking to the shopping district.
Tsuna stared at the ceiling.
He woke up early for a change. It was weird but it had to do with nerves. Onii-san stopped him the other day. Tsuna was surprised at his request.
I hope she likes it.
“She will if you don’t screw it up, Damn-Tsuna,” Reborn said.
Onii-san had suggested throwing a surprise birthday party for Isabella. He asked Tsuna because he knew Isabella was friends with him.
“I hope Lambo doesn’t screw anything up.”
“That stupid cow has been behaving lately.”
“Tsu-kun! Your friends are here.”
“You better get ready or else, Damn-Tsuna.”
Reborn aimed his gun at Tsuna.
“HIIIIIEEEE!!! Alright alright.”
Tsuna got out of bed and raced to the shower.
He got dressed in record time.
He grabbed his bag and headed downstairs.
“I can’t wait for the party later. It’s so nice of you to throw a party for you friend, Tsu-kun.”
Tsuna’s mom has been excited for days. She could hardly believe Tsuna had a friend he would do something so nice for.
“I have such a caring son.”
“Tsuna is really growing up,” Bianchi said.
Tsuna rolled his eyes.
He quickly ate his omelet before heading outside.
Yamamoto, Gokudera, and Onii-san were outside waiting for him.
“I can’t wait to see her surprised face,” Yamamoto said.
“I didn’t see her this morning. I hope everything’s alright,” Onii-san said.
“I’m sure she’s fine. Probably slept in because it’s her birthday. I would,” Tsuna said.
“Does everyone remember the plan? I don’t need you guys messing this up for the Tenth,” Gokudera said with a glare.
Gokudera original opposed the idea of doing anything for Isabella-chan until Tsuna agreed to do it.
“Yep,” Yamamoto confirmed.
“Yes,” Onii-san said.
“Good. Now let’s go before the Tenth is late.”
“It’s still pretty early, Gokudera,” Yamamoto commented.
“Shut up baseball freak!”
Today is going to be another weird day. But this has been my life since Reborn arrived.
Isabella just hopped out the shower.
Shopping was a shot in the dark. She didn’t know how much she grew so she just bought a whole bunch of sizes. Anything that can’t fit she’ll just return if she can.She dried off and got dressed.
“Good thing I thought of this.”
Isabella already had a uniform a few sizes bigger than what she wore, just in case anything.
“This is still so weird.”
She was now dressed and hurried downstairs to make her lunch. She didn’t know if she would have enough time for breakfast.Isabella finished up making her lunch.
“I need to leave now. I’ll still arrive relatively on time.”
She slipped on her shoes, (“At least there’s something that still fits.”) grabbed her things, and left for school.
Isabella jogged in order to reach school on time. Kyoya was still at the gate when she arrived.
Kyoya caught sight of Isabella.
His eyebrows knitted together. He said nothing but stared intently at Isabella’s face.
Kyoya raised his hand and reached for her face. But he stopped mid-way and looked at his hand in disgust.
“Follow me. I have something for you.”
I don’t know how many surprises I can take today.
Isabella followed behind Kyoya, receiving wide-eyed stares from many people. She lowered her head. She felt her face warming up. Insecurities from years ago started popping up.
“Why are you slouching? You’re not a herbivore.”
Isabella’s blush deepened but she did stand straighter.Kyoya’s weird form of encouragement helped her ignore some of the stares. They arrived at the disciplinary committee room.
“So what do you have for me?”
Kyoya went to his desk and grabbed the wrapped box that was on it.
He handed it to her.
“I uh thank you? How did you know?”
Isabella narrowed her eyes at him.
“That’s not weird.”
She sat done on the sofa and opened the box.
“Uhhh isn’t this the disciplinary committee jacket.”
“So you’re making me a member?”
“Only if you want to.”
Isabella smirked at that.
“I did get a chance to think about it and I do want to be a member. What do I call you now?”
“Same thing. No honorifics.”
“So just Kyoya? If that’s the case, you must call me Isabella.”
Isabella slipped the jacket on.
What do ya know, a perfect fit.
I doubt he meant for it to fit perfectly. But my body had other ideas.
“You should head to class, Isabella.”
“Uh yeah. I-I should. Class is starting soon. See you later, Kyoya.”
Isabella grabbed her things and left.
What was that? The way he said my name was … weird.
She shook her head and hurried to class.
Tsuna was getting more and more concerned. What Onii-san said earlier came to mind. The bell rung a few minutes ago and Isabella-chan still wasn’t in class.
I hope nothing bad did happen.
“What is the answer for the pro-”
The door slammed opened.
“Gomen! I didn’t mean to be late for class!”
Tsuna’s eyes widened.
Tsuna didn’t know what was more surprising. The jacket Isabella-chan was wearing or her change in appearance.
“Gurin. Please sit down.”
Isabella hurried to her seat. She felt everyone’s eyes on her, even her friends.
Is it because of the jacket or maybe because I’ve changed drastically over night?
“I will not tolerate talking in my class.”
Takeshi reluctantly nodded.
Class continued in relative silence. Any whisper in the room was met with the teacher calling them out.
Isabella waited until most of the class left to get up.
“Isabella you look so different,” Takeshi commented.
Takeshi,Tsuna, and Gokudera were waiting in the hallway for her.
“Yeah, what’s that about?” Gokudera questioned.
“I don’t know. I woke up and this is what I saw in the mirror.”
The four of them headed to their next class.
“That’s really weird,” Tsuna stated.
“It’s kind of like I went through puberty all at once,” Isabella commented.
They were almost to their next class, when they say Ryohei.
“Isabella, Happy …..” Ryohei started.
The sentence never went anywhere. Ryohei was stunned into silence by Isabella’s appearance.
Ba Dump Ba Dump Ba Dump
She looks so different. What happened?
He nodded absentmindedly.
“Were you going to say something else?”
“Uh yeah. Happy Birthday.”
A smile spread across Isabella’s face.
“Thanks for remembering.”
An awkward silence came over them.
“Well we need to head to class.”
“Yeah me too.”
Isabella nodded then started walking. Takeshi, Tsuna, and Gokudera followed.
“That was weird,” Isabella muttered.
“Onii-san was ...really quiet. At least compared to how he usually is,” Tsuna commented.
“I didn’t know Lawn Head even had an inside voice,” Gokudera added.
“Yeah. It’s weird seeing Senpai act like that,”Takeshi laughed.
“No crowding in-”
Kyoya had arrived on the seen. He saw Isabella amongst them.
He nodded and continued his rounds.
“We should really get to class before we’re late or something,” Isabella stated.
“There’s the warning bell.”
The four of them ‘hurried’ to class.
It was the best time of day. Lunch.
“I’m sooo hungry. I didn’t eat breakfast.”
“Why not?” Takeshi asked.
“I had to buy new clothes and by the time I got home it was getting late.”
“Uh Isabella-chan, do you have any idea why you would … grow overnight?”
“Nope. Not a clue. But something kind of similar happened last year. On my thirteenth birthday matter of fact.”
“What happened?” Gokudera asked.
“My eyes changed color. Before they were brown now they’re hazel.”
“Maybe you should go to a doctor?” Takeshi suggested.
“Iie. I’ve never been to one before. Besides this isn’t terrible or anything. It was gonna happen anyway.”
“I guess you’re right,” Takeshi laughed.
“Maybe you’re really an alien,” Gokudera commented.
Isabella turned to him and stared blankly.
That … that is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard him say.
“Or maybe you were cursed,” Takeshi added.
“Maybe. Who knows? All I know is I’m starving and need sustenance.”
Tsuna’s heart thumped in his chest. The bell just ringed, signaling the end of school.
Isabella was gathering up her things.
This was the hard part of the plan. Getting Isabella to Tsuna’s house inconspicuously.Yamamoto was going to do it but Gokudera demanded to do it when Tsuna said it would be the hardest part.
Tsuna, Gokudera, and Yamamoto stood in the hallway.
“Are you sure you’ll be fine , Gokudera-kun?”
“I’ll have no problem getting that woman there. She better appreciate what you’re doing for her Tenth.”
“I’m sure she will, Gokudera. She doesn’t have family to celebrate with so we’re the closest thing. Right Tsuna?”
“I guess. We should leave now. Just get her to my house, Gokudera-kun.”
“You don’t have to worry. I can handle this, Tenth.”
Tsuna nodded and left with Yamamoto.
Hayato saw her finally leave the classroom.
Isabella raised an eyebrow.
Isabella’s eyebrows furrowed together.
“Tch. Just follow me.”
“Look. I don’t trust you. I know you’ve been acting kind of friendly lately but obviously you can't be trusted.”
“I can’t be trusted!”
Students passing by gave them weird looks.
“You are the one lying about who you are.”
Isabella narrowed her eyes at him.
“I haven’t lied about anything. Aren’t you the same one that attacked Tsuna? I’ve never raised a finger to him. Yet I’m being interrogated.”
The weird looks increased when the students realized the duo were no longer speaking Japanese.
“That’s in the past. I’m loyal to the Tenth. Where do you loyalties lie?”
“They lie where they need to be.”
Isabella turned and stormed away.
Shit! This isn’t going as planned.
Hayato followed after her.
Isabella ignored him.
Isabella increased her pace.
I can’t fucking believe this guy.
Hayato had to jog in order to catch up to her.
Hayato placed a hand onto Isabella’s shoulder.
She glared at the offending hand then him.
“Could you let me go?”
“I want to tell you something.”
“What is it?” her glare intensified.
What the fuck do I say? What would the Tenth do?
“I’m like you.”
“In what way?”
“I live all by myself in an apartment. I-it’s hard to pay the bills. My relationship with my family is shit. It gets lonely going home to no one.”
There was a pregnant silence.
Isabella sighed then looked up at the sky.
“My father is the only family I have. He sent me her for reasons I still don’t know. You really think I would lie just to get close to people? Spending my birthday without him is shit.”
Gokudera nodded slowly.
“My birthday is coming up. It’s two days from now.”
“Have any plans?”
“Hm. Can you let me go now?”
The hostility she had faded away.
Gokudera slipped his hand off.
“Tenth wants to have a study session at his house. He wants you to come.”
“If you had said that from the beginning, I would have went with you. Let’s get going then.”
“I’m sure Tenth and baseball nut are waiting for us.”
Isabella and Gokudera arrived at Tsuna’s house.
Gokudera knocked on the door. It opened nearly immediately.
Tsuna’s mother had a bright smile.
“Isabella-chan. Hayato-kun please come in.”
The two of them went in. Tsuna’s mother was about to close the door but someone stopped her.
She opened the door to reveal Kyoya.
“Kyoya what are you doing here?” Isabella said.
“Hn. I saw you had a problem with this herbivore.”
Gokudera glared at him.
“And who are you to be following people around?”
Kyoya narrowed his eyes and raised his tonfas. Gokudera pulled out some dynamite.
“Hey, let’s not.” Isabella stepped in between them.
“I came over to help Tsuna-san. If you two want to fight take it outside. Today has been pretty long already.”
Kyoya reluctantly put down his tonfas. Gokudera put the dynamite away.
“Great. Sawada-san, where’s Tsuna?”
“Oh! Tsu-kun is in the dining room.”
She didn’t know where that was exactly but it should be around the corner.
She walked forward and turned into, what she hoped, was the dining room. Kyoya and Gokudera followed behind her.
“SURPRISE!”Tsuna, Takeshi, Ryohei, and Lambo yelled in unison.
Reborn and Bianchi blew noise makers
Confetti filled the air.Balloons and streamers were all over. Food lined the table, a cake sitting at the center.
Isabella felt her eyes water with tears.
“Mina,” she said thickly.
There was a knock at the door.
“Oooh, I’ll get it!” Tsuna’s mother said leaving.
“Lambo-san has a gift for Isabella-chan.”
Lambo started running towards her.
“Stupid cow, slow down!” Gokudera yelled.
Lambo tripped on the carpet. The ten year bazooka flew out of his afro and went off. Hitting Isabella.
The smoke cleared to revealing a woman. Luscious dark purple curls with soft hazel eyes and a bright smile on her face. Her freckles popping due to her bright smile.
“What a surprise,” she started. “Never thought I would see you guys on my birthday.”
Her smile grew even wider.
“It’s you!” Lambo exclaimed.
“Hai, it is. I’m sure you’re the reason why I’m here.”
She looked around the room. Wide eyed stares was the majority reactions. Even Kyoya looked shocked.
“I can’t thank you enough for what you all have done for me through the years. The days to come won’t always be easy. But I know you’ll get through it. Keep doing what you’re doing. To a certain extent. I love you all!”
Isabella caught eyes with Reborn. Her smile fell a bit.
Fourteen year old Isabella returned with a brilliant smile on her face.
“I’m back from the future,” she giggled.
“Thank you for the party. I’m so happy I have such great friends.”
Takeshi was the first out of his shock.
“What are friends for?”
“Exactly! That’s why I want to share today’s birthday with Gokudera-kun. As his birthday is only two days away.”
“I-is that true, Gokudera-kun?” Tsuna asked.
“I have no problem sharing it with him.”
“If you wa-”
“Who’s hungry?” Tsuna’s Mother asked coming back into the dining room.
That was the cue to start the party.
The party was great!
Kyoya left right after it officially started but no one was really concerned.
“That’s Kyoya,” Isabella said with a shrug.
Isabella ate a lot of Tsuna’s mother’s cooking. They played a few games until it was time for gifts.
She appreciated every gift given to her. Even the weird ones.
Lambo got her a bag of grape candy (“What a childish gift,” Tsuna commented).
Gokudera got her a coloring book with some crayons (“How old did you think she was turning Gokudera?” Takeshi questioned. “Never mind Lambo,” Tsuna said).
Takeshi got her a personalized bat (“Of course the baseball freak would get her something like that,” Gokudera commented).
Bianchi got her a cookbook (“Oooh! It has some really interesting recipes in here,” Isabella said).
Reborn got her a knife (“HIIIEE! Reborn don’t give such dangerous gifts!” Tsuna yelled).
Tsuna got her a card (“That’s really pathetic, Damn-Tsuna,” Reborn said).
She even got the horn necklace that resembles adult Lambo’s own from Ryohei (“You didn’t have to get me such an expensive gift!” she yelled. “I wanted too. Plus it was on sale,” he retorted).
The party was winding down and people were leaving one-by-one.
Isabella was being walked home by Tsuna. Reborn said it was a “Boss’ duty” to make sure all of his famiglia got home safe. Especially the birthday girl.
“I know I’m not apart of your famiglia but it’s really nice of you to walk me home, Tsuna-san.”
“I don’t have a famiglia,” he whined. “You’re my friend. Besides I’m sure Reborn would have attacked me.”
“Ano, did you see anything in the future?” he asked.
“I saw ‘adult’ Lambo. I heard a lot of different voices though. They sounded kind of familiar.”
“Your future self said some things.”
“I did? Anything good?”
They arrived at Isabella’s house.
“Arigato. You are an amazing friend Tsuna-san.”
“I-it wasn’t my idea. Onii-san thought of it.”
“Still you helped a lot. You offered your home. I know you don’t want to be a mafia boss. But you would be a great one. Well, a kind one. You really are amazing Tsuna-kun. See you tomorrow.”
Isabella opened the door and let herself in.
She dropped her bags to the floor and closed the door behind her.
Today was…. I don’t even know how to describe it. All around, my first birthday without my father wasn’t too bad. I wish I could have at least talked to him but spending time with my friends was great. I can’t wait to see what happens for my fifteenth birthday next year.

Chapter 11: Thunder and Lightning
Isabella sat with her legs crossed on the ground. Her back touching the edge of the couch.
Her birthday party was nearly a month ago and she's still so happy about it.
"I have the greatest friends in the world."
Who could that be? Maybe Lambo.
Isabella got up off the floor and went to the door.
She opened it and was surprised by who she saw.
"Adult Lambo? What are you doing here?"
"Ohayo, Amore Mio. I'm afraid my younger self set off the bazooka while coming over here."
"I see. Come in."
Isabella let him in and closed the door behind him.
"It's been a while since I've been in this house. Brings back memories."
Isabella smiled at that. She went over to the floor and sat back down.
Lambo came over and sat down with her.
"I'm going through my gifts again."
"Ah yes. Your birthday was last month. I remember when you made an appearance."
"I too remember when you tried to keep me away from the others. I still can't tell who's voices those were," Isabella said with a pout.
A comfortable silence came over them.
Lambo softly grabbed her chin and looked her dead in the eyes.
"For everything. For training me. Feeding me. Taking care of me. My younger self was always so lonely but never with you."
Isabella felt her face heat up.
What do I say to that?"
"You're welcome then," she murmured softly.
He let go of her face and Isabella continued to look through her stuff.
"Wait!" she yelled.
"Can you tell me anything about my dreams?"
"Yeah dreams. If I touch certain people, I would feel electricity. Then if I fall asleep, I would have a dream."
Lambo furrowed his eyebrows.
"I've never heard of any dreams."
"Could you ask my future self when you go back?"
"Are you hungry little guy?"
Isabella yawned while walking to school.
Seeing adult Lambo earlier this morning was kind of weird. But appreciated.
Isabella saw the school in the distance and her club President at the gate.
"Ohayo. Go straight to the disciplinary room."
She's been a member of the Disciplinary Club for nearly a month now.
Many people questioned her authority. Mainly male students but either way things were going good.
She found out about Kyoya's favorite saying 'I'll bite you to death'.
"I wonder if him calling it 'biting' has anything to do with him referring to people as animals," she muttered on her way to the disciplinary room.
She arrived at the room and sat on the sofa.
This really is a nice room. It's so cozy here.
Isabella snuggled into the felt her eyes growing heavy.
A quick nap wouldn't be too bad.
She closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Isabella's eyes fluttered open.
She sat up straight and blinked several times.
She turned her head to the voice.
Kyoya was sitting at his desk, doing work.
"Those herbivores you crowd with aren't too bad."
"Do you mean Takeshi-kun, Tsuna-kun,and Gokudera-kun?"
"What did you do?"
"Why?! Your battle hungry ass need to calm down."
"I lived and now have a scar on my hand. Where I caught a tonfa. Twice!"
Isabella shook her head.
"How long have I been asleep?"
"Hn. A while. You missed your first class."
"I came in and you were asleep. I didn't want to bother you."
"Why?! You know I have class!"
"You're apart of the committee. You don't really have to go."
Isabella rolled her eyes.
"I'm not invincible now that I'm in the committee."
"Look, I'll talk to you during my last class since it's a free period for me."
Isabella got up and hurried to her next class.
"Isabella, where were you?" Takeshi asked.
"I fell asleep in the disciplinary room and Kyoya didn't wake me up."
"So you're really friends with Hibari-san?" Tsuna asled.
"I guess you could call it friends."
"He's a bastard that's what he is," Gokudera said.
"Yeah. I heard about the fight."
"What's his problem?"
"Pfft. Like I know."
Since her birthday the two of them have been on somewhat good terms. They're not friends but they're not acquaintances either.
"I have to make up my work for the first class."
"I have the notes. And I got a copy of the homework for you."
"Arigatou , Gokudera-kun."
The bell rung signaling the start of class.
A few minutes into class , Isabella soon realized someone was glaring at her.
"I hope it's not a of member of either Gokudera's or Takeshi's fan club."
Those girls have been giving Isabella a hard time for a while now.
Isabella ignored the glaring the rest of the class period.
Only ten minutes of class were left.
That person has not relented one minute.
The person never stopped glaring at Isabella. Sometimes during class, it felt like they were glaring harder.
If they had powers, my shirt would have combusted into flames long ago.
Isabella completed the last question of a worksheet when she felt a tap on her shoulder.
She turned around and the girl behind her, Hana she think her name was, was handing her a pointed to shook her head 'no'.
Is this from the person that has been glaring?
Isabella opened the note and read it.
Meet me at the front of the school during lunch.
Isabella turned and scanned her classmates. No one looked particularly suspicious.
This sounds vaguely like a set up.
Isabella scanned it over again then shrugged.
I doubt they would try anything crazy…. hopefully.
I guess I'm going now.
Isabella was at the front of the school. Every now and then a person would walk by and Isabella would tense up.
Where are you mystery person?
She turned towards the school and saw Kyoko walking out.
"I see you came."
"You were the person that was glaring at me? Why?"
"This is why!"
Kyoko wrapped her hand around Isabella's necklace.
The one Ryohei got her for her birthday.
"My birthday gift?"
"He gave it to you for your birthday! I can't believe this."
"I'm so confused right now."
"You lied to me."
"On August 26th. You said the cupcake was for a friend not my brother."
Oh. This is Ryohei's sister. I didn't think Kyoko would be Ryohei's sister.
"I didn't know you two were related."
"I just don't understand."
"Can you please let go of my necklace?"
"Why should I?"
"Let go or-"
"You'll what? You're not going to do anything to me. You're still new and you're apart of the Disciplinary club. Everyone knows only a certain type of person joins them."
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"It means you're nothing. I'm loved by everyone here. You are running around with delinquents. If you say something bad about me, especially to my brother, this whole school will turn their backs against you. If you don't stay away from my brother, I will end you."
"End me? Everyone may like you but if you threaten someone I'm sure people won't look at you in the same light," Isabella pointed out.
"You see here's the thing. I'm sweet and kind Kyoko. If I say the new girl was mean to me they'll believe me. Why would I lie? You've only been here so long and no one really knows you. What I say goes. If you don't stay away from him. I'll make you regret ever being born," she said.
Kyoko ripped the necklace off her neck.
"I'll just take this for safe keeping."
Isabella watched as Kyoko walked away, with disgust.
"What the fuck was that!?"
It was Isabella's last period, her free one.
She's been patrolling the hallways. She knew she still needed to see Kyoya but what happened with Kyoko earlier still upset her.
I can't fucking believe her. Blackmailing me. Whoever says she's innocent doesn't know the real Kyoko.
Isabella passed by an open door and caught sight of familiar silver hair.
Ryohei was dressed in some shorts and a t-shirt. He was punching a punching bag.
"Isabella-chan. Hey." A smile spread across his face.
Isabella walked into the room and looked around. A few people were inside.
He really is in the boxing club.
Ryohei and few other people were inside.
"I have some bad news," she started.
"What happened?" he asked. His smile fell.
"The necklace you got me for my birthday was stolen."
Ryohei's eyes narrowed. Flecks of yellow flashed in his eyes.
What was that?
"Did you see who took it?"
"If you say something bad about me, especially to my brother, this whole school will turn their backs against you."
"I didn't see exactly who it was. All I know is that they go to the school."
Ryohei frowned deeply.
"Yeah, it's frustrating. Do you know what would make me feel better?"
"A spar with you."
"A friendly spar between two friends."
"I don't know if that's a good idea."
"Why? Is it because I'm a girl?."
"Iie, it's just … I ….. Fine."
"I'm feeling better already."
She took off her jacket and stepped into the ring.
"I don't plan on going easy on you so don't go easy on me."
Another member of the club looked at Ryohei.
"Are you sure about this?"
Isabella was on the offense.
She threw three consecutive jabs .
Ryohei narrowly avoided them. The wind from her attacks hitting his face.
He tried backing up to create some space between them but Isabella didn't allow it.
She stepped forward and went in for a right hook.
Ryohei tried to block but he wasn't fast enough. His left cheek was hit full force.
He stumbled backwards a bit. Isabella still didn't let up.
She moved forward and went in for an uppercut but Ryohei managed to block it.
Isabella bounced back creating space.
Ryohei caught his bearings and charged forward.
He sent a flurry of jabs her way but she blocked them.
Isabella jabbed him as soon he was finished. Hitting him twice in the chest twice.
Isabella turned towards the door, leaving herself open.
Ryohei jabbed her in the face.
Isabella was shocked from the punch and fell.
Ryohei approached her with wide eyes.
"Gomen gomen gomen!"
Isabella giggled softly.
Blood trickled from her busted lip.
"It's ok. I said not to go easy on me."
"Isabella, are you ok?" Takeshi asked.
"Yeah I'm fine."
There was a large amount of commotion going on outside the 's yelling had drawn a crowd.
"If you keep crowding in the hallway, I'll bite all of you to death."
"There he is. As if on cue," Isabella muttered.
The crowd rapidly dispersed.
Kyoya entered the room and glared at Ryohei.
"For attacking a member of the Disciplinary Committee, I will bite you to death."
Isabella rolled her eyes.
She braced herself on Ryohei before standing up.
"Kyoya, I asked for a friendly spar. Calm down."
Kyoya glared at Isabella then Ryohei.
"If this happens again, I will bite you to death."
Kyoya turned and stormed away.
"I think I should go to the nurse," Isabella said.
"Damn-Tsuna, you do it since you caused this mess," Reborn said, popping out of nowhere.
"HIIIEEE! Ok ok. Isabella-chan, I can take you to the nurse's office."
"Great. Let's go."
Ryohei helped Isabella get out of the ring.
"You didn't have to fight her, Lawn Head," Gokudera said, speaking for the first time.
"Don't blame Ryohei-kun. I insisted on the spar."
"I'm sure he didn't mean it, Gokudera," Takeshi said.
The five of them walked to the nurse's office.
Isabella was sitting on a chair being tended to by the nurse.
Takeshi, Tsuna, and Gokudera left a little while ago.
"I thought you said you weren't roughing up young ladies, Sasagawa."
"It was my fault. I roughed him up pretty bad too though."
Isabella had let Ryohei get bandaged first.
"That you sure did," the nurse laughed. "You two are all done. Try not to fight anyone else young lady."
Isabella and Ryohei left the nurse's office.
"I already told you, It's ok. I asked for the spar."
"You were really good. You meant it when you said you weren't holding back," he commented.
"I sure did."
The two of them continued walking in silence.
"Hmm?" Isabella turned towards him.
"Is …. Is Hibari your boyfriend?"
Isabella stopped and looked at him.
Isabella started laughing hysterically.
"That was hilarious," Isabella said wiping away a tear. "Kyoya doesn't like me like that. And I don't like him like that. We're just friends."
Isabella shook her head.
"That was funny. Well, I'll see you tomorrow Ryohei-kun. "
Ryohei watched as Isabella left.
Ryohei turned towards the voice.
"Onii-chan, what happened?"
Oh right. The bandages.
"I tripped down the steps. You know how clumsy I am."
"You should really be careful Onii-chan."
"Hai hai. I will."
The two of them started walking.
"Do you have feelings for Isabella-chan?"
"Uh wh-why would you ask?"
"I just want to know."
Kyoko isn't friends Isabella-chan. Is she? If I tell Kyoko, she might tell Isabella-chan.
"I-Iie. I don't have feelings for her."
Kyoko narrowed her eyes at him.
"Alright Onii-chan," Kyoko said with a knowing smile on her face.
"Really I don't."
Kyoko's smile took a sour turn.
He really does have feelings for her. This only complicates things.
Isabella opened the disciplinary room and peeked her head in.
Kyoya was sitting on one of the sofas with his eyes closed.
Maybe I should talk to him tomorrow. He actually looks kind of peaceful.
Isabella went to close the door.
Isabella opened the door again and went in.
She sat down on the sofa across from him.
His eyes were now open.
"Hn. How are your wounds?"
"It was only one and my lip is fine."
"What were you going to say to me this morning?"
"I was going to ask you how do you like the club."
"Oh. Well it's interesting. I do get a few problems but still interesting."
"Hn. Weren't you wearing a necklace this morning?"
Isabella reached up and touched her bare neck.
"What happened to it?"
"Someone stole it."
"A student here?"
"Yeah. I didn't see their face."
"Hn. I'll look into that."
"I'm gonna head to the training grounds. I'll see you tomorrow."
Isabella got up and left.
When Isabella arrived, she saw Lambo running already.
He didn't acknowledge her. He just kept going.
"Hmmm. What new element am I adding today? Maybe using his lightning flames to sense my aura."
Lambo stopped running and went over to Isabella.
"Lambo-san is finished."
"Good. We're gonna try something new today."
Lambo started bouncing up and down.
"Alright calm down a little. So what we're gonna do is, I'm gonna leave the training grounds then after a while I'll come back. After some time, I want you to come and find me. It's kind of like hide n' seek. You ready?"
Lambo nodded vigorously.
" Close your eyes."
Lambo immediately closed them.
"I'm leaving now."
Isabella waited a few minutes before walking away.
Lambo felt tingly.
His fingers and arms and legs. Even his toes.
He sensed things moving around him.
Things above him. Things below him. Some big, some small.
After a little while he got used to sensing those things.
He felt something approaching from behind him. The aura was big and flowing.
The aura moved in quick burst. Not staying in one place long.
He opened his eyes but saw nothing. But he still felt the aura jumping around.
He got up and ran forward but the aura turned sharply trying to keep up with it.
The aura ended up going to fast causing him to spin in a circle.
A giggle came from above.
He looked up and Isabella was hanging off a tree branch upside down.
She let go of the branch with her legs, flipped, and landed next to Lambo.
"You did great!"
"Lambo-san didn't catch you," he said softly.
"Aww don't worry about that. You were great. Since you were so great, we can go get takoyaki."
"Yay!" he cheered.
"Let's go, Lambo."
"Lambo, it's getting late. Do you want me to walk you home?"
Lambo shook his head 'no'.
"Lambo-san wants to spend the night at your house."
The two of them arrived at Isabella's house not too long after.
"I'm gonna take a shower before I make dinner. You stay here and watch tv."
Isabella turned on the tv before heading upstairs.
She undressed and went into the bathroom.
She turned on the water and hopped in. She took a quick cold shower then filled the tub with warm water to take a bath.
Isabella relaxed in the warm, floral scented water.
"Today was yet another long day. I feel like I keep saying that. Today was just another day in Namimori it seems," She said with a smile.
"I don't know what I'm gonna do about Kyoko. Still can't believe the bitch stole my necklace."
She sank deeper into the tub.
"I've only been living here four months yet so much has happened."
Isabella soaked for another twenty minutes before getting out of the tub.
She wrapped herself in her towel and went into her room.
"What was that?"
She was going to see what was going on when her door slammed open.
Lambo had tears streaming down his face.
"Lambo, what's wrong? What happened?"
"Gotta …. Stay …. Calm!"
For a few minutes, Lambo tried to stop his tears.
Lambo pulled out the Ten Year Bazooka.
Isabella reached for Lambo, dropping her towel in the process.
She didn't reach him in time.
Something …. isn't right.
The aura she sensed wasn't the same one from this morning.
The smoke cleared and Isabella gasped.
Lambo's usually vibrant, green eyes were barely pupils were huge. His clothes had blood and claw marks on them.
He stared at her. His eyes running over her naked body.
A shiver ran down her spine.
Lambo started walking towards her.
"H-hey, what are you doing?"
Isabella started to reverse.
Every step he took forward she took one back. Until she came in contact with the bed and fell.
Lambo pounced on her.
Wait? Is he …. sniffing me?
"What are you doing?"
This close to him, Isabella could she that Lambo's pupils were huge.
He cupped one of her breast in his hands. He massaged it gently.
"Stop," she said breathlessly.
He dragged his hand from her breast down to her stomach. But he didn't stop there. His hand continued to go down.
She collected her strength and pushed Lambo off of her.
She scrambled up to the top of the bed. She covered herself with her blanket.
He staggered backward.
His eyes still dull.
"Lambo what's wrong with you?!"
He started crawling up onto the bed.
Five-year-old Lambo returned, fast asleep.
"Oh thank the stars above!"
Isabella breathed deeply.
What just happened? Adult Lambo has never acted like that before. The way he acted and the way moved. It was almost like …. like he was possessed.
Chapter 13: Chapter 12: Aligning Skies
Chapter 12: Aligning Skies
"You better have good news to tell me."
"I-I'm sorry sir but-"
"How! It's been three months. How could you have no leads?!"
"The Arcobaleno Verde has not made any contact with her. And she hasn't made any contact with him. We're at a standstill sir."
Tap tap tap
"Try to hack the Arcobaleno. He should have something."
"We've been tryi-"
"KEEP TRYING! WE NEED TO FIND HER!"
It's been a week since that really long day involving Kyoko and …. 'adult' Lambo.
Isabella sighed. Today was the last day of the week
She was making breakfast for herself. She made extra because she knew Lambo was coming over.
After the … fiasco, Lambo has been staying over more often. She didn't know exactly how to feel about that.
Knock Knock Knock!
"There he is," she muttered.
She went over and opened the door.
It was adult Lambo.
"Can I come in?"
Isabella looked him over.
He seems fine now.
Isabella walked away from the door. Lambo closed it behind him.
"What happened last week wa-"
"So you remember."
"Can you tell me what that was about?"
"I don't know how to describe it. It was kind of like an out of body experience."
"Has this happened before?"
"Something similar but not exactly like last week."
"So you weren't in your right mind?"
"No, but that doesn't excuse what I did."
"But you said you barely remember."
"I did and I do barely remember. But I know I did something to make you feel uncomfortable."
"Gomen'nasi," he said bowing.
"I …. I want to say I understand but I don't. But I do accept your apology."
A silence came over them.
"On another note, what did my future self say about the dreams?"
"She said they weren't dreams but memories."
"Memories. What do you-"Poof! "- mean."
"Ohayo Isabella-chan!" five-year-old Lambo yelled.
"Ohayo is almost finished."
Isabella went to the kitchen to finish breakfast.
I don't understand how those dreams are memories.
Isabella yawned softly as she walked to school.
It's getting a bit chilly out.
She pulled her jacket closer to her body.
I'm not used to this type of weather.
Isabella caught sight of a familiar mop of brown hair.
"A-ah. Isabella-chan. Ohayo."
She picked her speed to walk alongside him.
"You're up early."
"Yeah. I just woke up early today and I don't know why."
"At least you're not late."
The two of them walked in silence.
Isabella glanced over at Tsuna.
The day I met Tsuna, I felt electricity but I never had a dream. I don't think I slept that same day. Then I met Ryohei and felt electricity, Then I had a dream about him. I guess the … the memories can cancel each other out.
"When is your birthday?"
Tsuna stopped walking and so did Isabella.
"You don't know?"
"Nope. I only know Ryohei-kun and Gokudera-kun. But that's because they told me."
"Oh well, It's tomorrow."
"Really! Are you doing anything for your birthday?"
"Iie, but everyone has been acting weird this morning."
"So you think there might be a surprise party or something?"
"Hmmm. Do you need any help with school work, Tsuna-kun?"
"I'll come by sometime after school then."
"Really? That would be very great, Isabella-chan."
"What are friends for?" she said with a smile.
I will use the time before going over to his house to buy him a cupcake. An early birthday surprise.
The two of them arrived at school after some time.
Huh. Kyoya isn't at the gate.
"I"ll see you in a bit, Tsuna-kun. I'm gonna go do something first."
"Where are you going?"
"I'm gonna go check up on Kyoya. I promise not to fall asleep this time."
Tsuna nodded before heading to class.
"I doubt anything bad happen but you never know."
Isabella stepped into the committee room.
She felt light, airy, and free. Like a cloud.
"You found your flame," Isabella commented.
A small smile on her face.
"The meditation did help after all."
"What was it then?"
"I was biting some herbivores to death."
Isabella rolled her eyes.
"So how do you feel? Stronger? Faster?"
Kyoya's eyes flashed purple.
I don't like the look in his eyes.
"Why don't you find out?"
Kyoya shot out of his chair and charged towards her.
Isabella jumped out of his way.
His tonfas were gripped in his arms.
This is not what I need this morning.
She shot forward, Kyoya prepared for her attack.
However, Isabella dove forward and swiped Kyoya's feet from under him.
He landed hard onto the ground.
He tried to get up but Isabella sat on him. She knocked his tonfas out of his hands.
She held his hands above his head.
"So what we're going to do today is: I'm gonna grab my things and head to class. Then I'll see you when I can. Good? Good. I don't feel like missing class and going to the nurse again."
Isabella let go of his hands and got off him.
Kyoya sat up and stared at Isabella intently.
"See you around Kyoya."
Kyoya remained on the ground. Staring at the door where Isabella left.
Isabella was heading over to Tsuna's house.
School ended an hour ago and Isabella hurried to the cake shop to get Tsuna's cupcake.
"I hope Tsuna likes chocolate."
Isabella didn't know what cupcake to get Tsuna. Plus they didn't have many oppositions. Getting a vanilla cupcake would've been a thirty-minute wait.
She turned a corner and saw Tsuna and Reborn.
"I have something for you, Tsuna-kun."
She moved the cupcake from behind her back and presented it to him.
"Happy early Birthday!"
Tsuna's eyes widened and his mouth opened slightly.
"Is … is that for me?"
The smile on Isabella's face was beaming.
Tears seemed to well up in Tsuna's eyes.
He tentatively took the cupcake from her hands.
"No problem," Isabella chirped.
"Damn-Tsuna, stop crying like a baby."
"I'm not crying!"
"Let's go inside. The sun is blinding Tsuna-kun and causing his eyes to water."
The three of them went to the door. Tsuna grabbed the knob and opened the door.
"Thank you," Reborn said.
"I appreciate that you guys gathered for my birthday today. I am one year old now."
"What? Could it be…. that the birthday party was for…. " Tsuna started.
"Right. It was for me," Reborn said.
Wow. That's got to hurt.
"I thought it was for me. I feel like a fool."
"Eh! Oh my! Oh no! Tsuna's birthday is tomorrow! I completely forgot!" Tsuna's mother confessed.
Woooooow! Poor Tsuna. Your own mother forgetting your birthday.
"Really!" A girl yelled.
I think I've seen her before. If I'm remembering correctly, during the summer, she was the girl waiting outside Tsuna's house.
"Good thing you mentioned it, Tsuna," His mother said.
"Th-then we can celebrate together?" the mystery girl suggested.
"Yeah," Takeshi agreed.
"I'm like a loser demanding his own birthday party…" Tsuna said.
"You deserve a party just like everyone else does, Tsuna-kun. You shouldn't feel like a loser."
Tsuna nodded reluctantly.
After the awkwardness was gone, they went to the living room to eat.
"We got the food from Yamamoto-kun's house," Tsuna's mother said.
A table was lined with all types of sushi.
It all looks so good.
"Wow! Thank you, Yamamoto" Tsuna said.
Takeshi was rubbing the back of his neck.
"I'll split it up," Haru said.
Isabella introduced herself before they went to the living room.
Lambo was quietly bouncing next to Isabella.
In no time, Isabella was handed a plate of food.
It's so good.
Isabella blocked out everyone. Only focusing on the food.
I really need to go to TakeSushi one of these days.
People were talking but she couldn't hear a word they were saying.
"But the one with the lowest score will die."
"Wait, what's going on? I was hypnotized by the sushi."
"We're having a contest!" he said.
"Really? I have nothing to show for it."
"Iie," Reborn said. "You got Damn-Tsuna a cupcake once you found out when his birthday was."
"You're already on the board, Isabella-chan," Bianchi said.
Isabella turned and a huge chalkboard with numbers was on it.
"77 points," she muttered.
"Since Yamamoto brought the sushi, he receives 80 points," Reborn said.
"80 points isn't bad," Takeshi commented.
This is going to be interesting.
The party continued with people presenting their gifts.
Tsuna and Gokudera teamed up to do a 'magic trick'.
"Why do I have a bad feeling about this?" Isabella said.
The 'magic trick' ended when Tsuna was shot by Reborn and began 'stabbing' himself with was taken to the hospital and was going to spend his birthday there too.
Isabella was now walking home.
"My friends are really crazy. I wonder what happens exactly when Tsuna-kun is shot by has an orange flame, like me. Does that mean something in particular?"
A breeze blew past Isabella. She shivered.
"I need to buy myself a better jacket. This weather is going to kill me. I'll go shopping tomorrow."
Isabella yawned softly.
She was in the kitchen making herself some lunch.
"Do I need to buy groceries while I'm out?" she muttered.
She did a quick scan of her cabinets.
"I could restock on some stuff."
She trained Lambo earlier that morning. He's doing a lot better with his sensory training.
She finished up her lunch and ate.
I'll buy my jacket first then I'll buy groceries.
She quickly finished up and headed out.
"The sun feels nice on my skin."
She took her time getting to the shopping district.
"School has been taking a lot out of me lately. At least I still get days like this."
She went into a clothing didn't want to stay in there for too long. A lot of people were roaming due to it being the went to the woman's department and looked for outerwear.
"This one looks nice."
It was a black jacket with white roses on it. It was a bit thick which was perfect for the weather to come.
"I'm gonna get this one."
She found her size ("I came here at the right time. This is the last one in my size.") and paid for it at the counter.
She immediately put it on as she left.
"This was a good decision. Now for some groceries."
Isabella was heading towards the grocery store when she caught sight of something.
"A toolset,~" she sighed. "I need it."
Isabella went inside the store and looked around.
"Ok, now it's time for groceries."
Isabella spent several hours looking over the entire store.
She bought the toolset she wanted and a few other things.
"I could probably make something for Lambo or maybe even Kyoya to use for their flames. Like my sword."
Isabella could feel her stomach flipping from excitement.
"I can't wait!~"
The sky was now tinged a bit orange.
"I need to hurry up. I really need those groceries."
Isabella finally made it to the store.
She already knew what she needed, so she sped through picking up stuff.
She looked up from her cart.
"What's going on? It looks like your in a rush."
"Kind of but that's my own fault. I was supposed to have been made it here but I got sidetracked."
"Are you buying groceries too?" she asked.
Isabella looked at the basket in his hands.
Noodles, noodles, and more noodles.
"Do you know how to cook, Gokudera-kun?"
"When was the last time you had a home cooked meal?"
"When I was a kid."
"So you just live off of cup noodles?"
"You know what? I'm gonna make you dinner."
"N-no that's not necessary."
"Gokudera-kun, I know we aren't exactly friends but you can't survive on just cup noodles."
"You don't have to."
"I don't but I want to. Tsuna-kun wouldn't appreciate knowing you're not eating properly."
Gokudera went quiet.
"Tch. Fine ."
Isabella walked through the store, trying to decide what to make for Gokudera. She went down the aisle with dry goods. She picked up a box of spaghetti decided on spaghetti would be good.
It won't be like home but it'll still be good.
Isabella finished cashing out and so did Gokudera.
"Lead the way!" she said.
The two of them walked in silence.
"How do you like Namimori?" Gokudera asked.
"It's a lot different than Italy, for me at least. I'm used to staying home and living in my bubble. But since it's just me here, I can't do that. I have to go out and engage with other people. I have to go to a public school. I can't just stay home and do nothing. It's a shock, I guess you can say."
"It's kind of the opposite for me. I more or less ran away from home. My family life is beyond complicated. My …. My mother died when I was young. Bianchi is only my half sister but everyone kept that away from me. I found out after she died. After a while, I decided to leave."
"Honestly, even though I know my father loves me. I know for a fact he isn't my biological father. I don't know who my biological mother or father is. Was my mother with my father? Did she leave the both of us? My father never told me she died, so I assume she's alive. She might be out there somewhere. Living her life. Without her child."
The silence between them was thick.
"I guess we have more in common than I thought," Gokudera commented.
They arrived at an apartment complex. They climbed up some stairs before stopping in front of a door.
"It might look a mess."
"As long as there is a place for me to cook, I don't care."
Gokudera opened the door and they went inside.
Isabella didn't know what she was expecting but this seemed about right.
A bunch of papers covered a coffee table, pencils, and pens on the floor, sticks of dynamite lying around.
"You made it seem like you would have clothes and trash on the ground or something," Isabella said.
"Whatever. The kitchen is over here."
Isabella followed him. She put her perishables in the fridge and put the rest on the counter.
"Ok. This spaghetti shouldn't take me too long to make."
Isabella would have made everything from scratch like they do in Italy but she didn't have the time nor equipment necessary.
"I'll set the table, I guess," Gokudera said.
About thirty minutes later, dinner was ready.
Isabella placed two plates of spaghetti onto the table.
Gokudera filled two glasses with water.
They both sat down and began to eat.
Today has been interesting. But not in the usual way. Today was more quiet.
"This is … pretty good," Gokudera said.
"I didn't think you could cook."
"I live by myself. Besides my father can't cook so someone had to learn."
A silence came over them.
"I have a question," Isabella started.
"Why do you pass out every time you see Bianchi-san?"
"Ooh that. When I was younger I played the piano. During one of my performances, Aniki gave me some cookies she had made. They were poison cooking. I played all types of random notes during the performance.
Instead of being laughed at or something like that, the people loved it. They thought it was modern and unique and bullshit like that. So my father decided that for all of my performances, Aniki should give me cookies.
Also once she found out she had poison cooking, she experimented on me."
"That sounds terrible. You were so young and I just can't even imagine that. What's the age difference between you and Bianchi-san?"
"About 2 years and some months."
"What?" Isabella nearly choked on her spaghetti.
"How old is Bianchi-san right now?"
"Sixteen. Her birthday is in November."
"I thought Bianchi-san was older than that! The mafia really is no joke."
"You know a lot about the mafia for someone who isn't in it," Gokudera commented.
"I'm not though. My father more or less works with the mafia, not me. But I don't. My dad is a very ... secretive person. Even to me. I still don't anything about my past. Before he adopted."
"This won't affect the Tenth, right?"
"Gokudera-san, I'm hoping it doesn't affect me. I live by myself after all. It wouldn't be hard for someone to come after me."
"But it's the same thing with you. You are in fact in the mafia and you live by yourself. Someone could come after you too."
The silence that followed was a bit heavy.
This dinner has a lot more talking than I thought it would.
"Give me your number."
"Your phone number. So if anything, we can contact each other," Gokudera explained.
Isabella took out her phone and quickly gave him her number.
"It's getting pretty late."
They finished eating a while ago now.
"I should head home."
"You want me to walk you?"
"Iie, I should be fine. I'll text you when I get home."
Isabella got up and grabbed all of her grocery bags.
"I'll see you on Monday, Gokudera-kun. Goodnight."
Gokudera opened the door for her.
Isabella started walking away.
Gokudera watched as she left.
"She's not as bad as I thought."
Isabella yawned loudly.
She just reached home and was ready to sleep.
"I need to put up these groceries but let me do what I promised."
<To Gokudera: I just got home.
Isabella quickly put the groceries up.
She yawned again.
"Man I'm tired."
She checked her phone.
>From Gokudera: Good.
"Now Imma head to bed."
Isabella did her nightly routine, nearly falling asleep during it.
She got into bed and cuddle her sheets.
"Another day in Namimori in the books."
"Tomorrow is another adventure waiting for me."
Chapter 14: Chapter 13: Light Mist
Chapter 13: Light Mist
Isabella hugged herself.
"Why is it so damn cold?!"
Isabella was wearing both her roses jacket and her Disciplinary jacket.
"My insides are turning into ice. But I need to buy ingredients for soup. Lambo said he was spending the night this morning."
Isabella speed walked to the shopping district. Not wanting to stay in the cold for too long. She thought October and November were cold. But December has them both beat.
She walked past the cake shop but stopped when she saw someone.
It was a girl in a school uniform she has never seen before. The girl's back was facing Isabella.
Isabella completely turned towards her.
Maybe I can make a female friend this time.
Isabella still can't believe how things went with Kyoko.
The girl turned around.
"Umm, I'm Isabella."
"Hi, Nagi-chan. Why are you standing outside the cake shop? Why not go in?"
"I …. I have no money."
"I could buy you something if you like?"
Isabella and Nagi made their way into the cake shop.
"You can pick out whatever you like."
Nagi ordered a slice of chocolate cake. Isabella decided to get herself a piece of chocolate cake too.
The girls sat across from each other.
"So, Nagi-chan, I've never seen you before. Do you live close by?"
"Iie. I live two towns over."
"Really? What are you doing all the way over here then?"
"I wanted to do something for my birthday."
"Birthday? When is your birthday?"
"Today!? Well Happy Birthday, Nagi-chan."
The two of them ate their cake in a comfortable silence.
"Why … why are you so nice?"
"Well, it cost nothing to be nice to someone. Just because I don't you, doesn't mean I had to be rude to you. Besides you look like you needed a friend," Isabella said with a smile.
Nagi smiled back at her.
"Do you come to Namimori often?"
"And you come here all alone?"
She nodded again.
"How long does it take you to get here?"
"Three hours or more. All depends."
"And do your parents wonder where you are?"
Nagi looked down. She fidgeted with the tablecloth.
"When you walk home, is it in the dark?"
What kind of people doesn't worry about their daughter?
"So today, you would be walking home in the dark?"
"How about you spend the night at my house instead of walking home in the dark. Then tomorrow morning I can walk you home or school whichever you want."
Nagi stared Isabella in her eyes.
Tears began to well up and roll down her cheeks.
"No problem Nagi-chan. Now let's finish up our cake so I can go shopping for tonight's dinner."
They finished their cake and headed out.
After the initial shock of their meeting, Nagi and Isabella really hit it liked Italian food and found it exciting that Isabella was from mentioned she lived by herself and Nagi found it weird someone so nice lived said she loved to draw and Isabella thought it was amazing.
"Well, my father sent me here. He's still back home in Italy."
Nagi hugged Isabella.
Nagi couldn't' explain it but she felt a connection to Isabella.
The two of them were now walking to Isabella's house. The sun slowly setting.
"My friend is going to spend the night as well. I hope you don't mind," Isabella commented.
"O-oh. Are they nice?"
"Lambo is only five. I would hope him spending time with me influences him to be a good person."
Isabella's house was in view. Someone was standing in front of her house.
As they got closer, Isabella realized who it was.
Nagi stared in confusion.
Lambo stared back in surprise.
"Introduce yourself, Lambo."
"Uh oh. Fulmine Lambo."
Isabella opened the door and the three of them went in.
"You said he was five," Nagi said.
"It's kind of a long story. I'll tell you over dinner."
She nodded, watching Lambo.
"You look familiar," Lambo muttered.
"You've seen Nagi in the future?" Isabella questioned.
"Nagi you can sit down if you like. I'm going to start dinner."
She nodded and sat down on the couch.
"I have candy!"
Back in October, Isabella decided to start tutoring Lambo. He was at the appropriate age for school but she didn't know how he would she decided to kind of homeschool him.
"Lambo introduce yourself!"
Nagi blinked owlishly.
"Nagi…?" she said confused.
Isabella looked into the living room and caught sight of Nagi's face.
"As I said, long story."
Dinner was interesting.
Explaining that the two Lambo's were the same person and how they were able to see him. Was interesting explaining.
"So if you're hit by the bazooka, you'll switch places with your ten years older self?"
"I know right?"
Isabella glanced at her phone.
"We should probably get ready for bed."
"I think I have a big shirt you can sleep in. We can put your close to wash and make sure they dry before morning. I think I have a pack of underwear that might be able to fit you."
Back during her growth fiasco and she bought a lot of stuff. There were a few things she kept for emergency reasons.
"The guest room is next to the bathroom. Let me grab you a towel."
Isabella quickly went to her room then returned with the shirt and underwear. She grabbed a towel from the closet and handed the load to Nagi.
"Here you go."
"Arigatou." Nagi went into the bathroom.
"Now for me to take a bath."
Isabella was braiding her hair when she heard a knock at her door.
Nagi was dressed in the shirt with the towel and her clothes in her hands.
Lambo was passed out on Isabella's bed.
"You can just hang the towel behind the bathroom door. I'll put these to wash."
Isabella walked passed Nagi and headed put the clothes to wash and headed back upstairs.
"Are you all set to sleep?" Isabella asked.
"Goodnight," Isabella said.
The two of them went their separate ways for the night.
Isabella got into bed. Lambo cuddled up to her.
I can't believe I have a friend over. This is great! I hope she stays by often.
It was Friday and the final bell sounded.
"Nagi-chan is staying for the weekend!~"
Isabella had walked with Nagi early Wednesday morning to make sure she got to school. Nagi suggested that she stay the weekend and Isabella was beyond excited about it.
"My new friend is coming over!~"
>From Gokudera: Do you wanna hang out this weekend?
<To Gokudera: Maybe on Sunday. I have a friend coming into town.
>From Gokudera: Ok
"That's a little sudden of Gokudera-kun. Whatever maybe dinner opened his eyes."
Gokudera rarely texted do text each other to make sure they got home alright though.
"Friendship is truly a beautiful thing," she murmured.
Christmas was only five days away and she still had a lot to do.
Nagi was spending Christmas at her house. Isabella couldn't have found that more telling about what type of parents she was wrapped up in a blanket in her backyard.
"Stars above why did I do this to myself."
She was making several of the gifts for her thankfully only had one more to make but she also planned on making cookies.
"Why am I so generous?"
She made Tsuna a ring. Made Gokudera a satchel to hold his dynamite. She stitched Takeshi's name onto the back of a glove. She bought Ryohei some yellow wrappings and a boxing-related t-shirt. She made Kyoya some new tonfas. And made Nagi some special drawing that was left was some new horns for Lambo.
Currently in front of Isabella was her trusty cauldron. She used it to melt placed her bladeless sword under the cauldron.
Knock Knock Knock!
"I'm in the back!"
She lit her sword. Orange flames surrounded the cauldron.
Gokudera had wanted to hang out. She never did hang out with him a few weeks ago.
"Hey. What are you doing?"
"Making a Christmas gift."
"What is it and who is it for?"
Gokudera came over and sat down next to her.
"It's going to be a new set of horns for Lambo."
"What are you melting it with? The flames are very orange."
"My bladeless sword or my Fiamma Sword."
"My sword is made from a dirty, cheap metal. However, when I melt it with my flames, it purifies it. The metal then helps conducts people's flames better. So all my gifts have Fiamma metal in them one way or another."
"How do you know about flames? When Tenth goes into Dying Will Mode he has a flame on his head but you have flames on your sword."
"As I said it's the metal. That's how I'm able to use my sword with flames. I've known about flames since I was young."
"How do they work?"
"You are very inquisitive. Which is expected for someone who wants to be the right-hand man."
"Before you get to flames there is an aura. Auras depend on the person. Your aura, in particular, flares up a lot, usually due to you being annoyed. Linked to the aura, is a flame. The aura comes from the flame. If you find your flame, you can strengthen it and in turn strengthen yourself. It can make you stronger or faster. Even more energetic. I don't know all the things the flame can do."
Gokudera was silently processing the information.
"Time to pour this into the mold."
She moved the mold right next to the cauldron. She slowly tilted the cauldron and filled the mold.
"Now all it needs to do is set."
"How do you find a flame?"
"Well, the way Lambo and I found our flames was through meditation. Kyoya found his by … fighting."
"Wait, so that stupid brat and that bastard both know how to use flames?"
"Finding your flames and knowing how to use them is two different things. I still don't know how to properly use my flames. Fiamma metal really helps though. All my gifts have Fiamma metal in them as I mentioned earlier. Including yours."
Gokudera's head snapped up.
"What? You got me a gift."
"I made you a gift."
"I didn't think …. I didn't get you anything."
"There's still five days left!~ Better get on it."
"Let's go inside. I would hate for either of us to catch a cold."
Isabella got up and trudged inside.
"What about the horns?"
"They're fine. They need to cool and the cold air will help."
Gokudera nodded and followed her inside.
"Would you like some hot chocolate, Gokudera-kun?"
"Call me Hayato. But only when we're alone. I don't want people getting the wrong idea about us."
"What, you don't want people to know we're somewhat friends?'
"You're such a weirdo, Hayato-kun!" Isabella laughed.
Isabella sighed loudly.
"Today was a long, fun day."
Isabella had given her friends their gifts on Christmas eve so they could open them on Christmas. She woke up that morning to Lambo jumping up and down on her bed. She made breakfast for all three of them. They opened their gifts and spent the majority of the day playing and watching Christmas movies.
She received several texts of gratitude from her friends including Kyoya.
>From Kyoya: I know see why you needed my tonfas.
<To Kyoya: Do you like them?
>From Kyoya: They will be perfect for biting herbivores to death.
Isabella laughed loudly at that.
Nagi cried because of Isabella's around Nagi appreciated the fact that Isabella was her friend.
Isabella loved her gifts as well.
Tsuna gave her a keychain with a cupcake on gave her a figurine in the shape of a girl reading a gave her sushi and a book on making gave her some purple wrappings and a gave her some candy and a hand-drawn gave her a set of also gave her a hand-drawn picture.
She cherished both pictures. Lambo's picture was a depiction of the two of them. And Nagi's was a portrait of Isabella surrounded by lotus flowers.
Isabella was currently in bed getting ready to go to sleep.
Nagi opened the door.
"Can I sleep you with you? I don't want to be alone."
"Sure friend! Just cuddle up with me and Lambo," Isabella laughed.
A smile came to Nagi's face.
She closed the door and got in bed with them.
Lambo's night light filled the room with stars.
I wish you were here, Father. You would be able to see all the friends I've made.
Tears silently rolled down her cheeks.
Having people you can trust and rely on is great. At first, I was sad about moving. But now….
Isabella looked at Nagi and Lambo's sleeping faces.
I couldn't be more grateful. I thank you and hope you're doing well this Christmas. I love you.
Chapter 15: Chapter 14: New Forecast
Chapter 14: New Forecast
"Happy New Year!" Isabella said.
Nagi blinked awake.
"Happy New Year."
"Happy New Year," a deep voice said.
"Adult Lambo, what are you doing here?"
"My five-year-old self must have sent off the Ten Year Bazooka in his sleep."
Isabella shook her head at that. She turned back to Nagi.
The three of them had camped out in the living room.
"You're heading home today right?"
"Ok. Let's pack up your stuff and we can head out."
The three of them got up and started getting ready.
Isabella decided to just get dressed now so when she comes back all she would have to do is head to Tsuna's house. Since she got a text from Tsuna to come over.
Lambo helped Nagi pack some of her already planned to come over again once school started back up.
"I have New Year money!" he said waving around an envelope.
"Great buddy. Let's drop Nagi-chan home and we'll head over to Tsuna-kun's house."
Isabella went to what she now dubs Nagi's room.
"Are you ready?"
The door opened and Nagi was dressed.
"Oh. You look beautiful."
Isabella was wearing a traditional kimono. It was black with purple flowers on it.
"I have a lot of black in my wardrobe but it's always accompanied by a color of the rainbow so I don't mind. Anyway, we need to get you home!"
The three of them headed out for Shoga, Nagi's hometown.
Nagi hugged both of them tightly before heading into her house.
Isabella and Lambo were in Namimori, heading to Tsuna's house.
"I love my friends~! I have been in Namimori for six months now and I love it here!"
They rounded the corner to Tsuna's house. People were already there.
Everyone turned to the two of them.
A bright smile was on her face.
"Happy New Year!" she said.
"Happy New Year," was the collective response back.
"I don't think we've met. I'm Dino."
"Yeah. Bucking Horse Dino." Dino raised an eyebrow to that. "I'm Gurin Isabella."
"You have an accent."
"Hai, hai. I'm from Italy."
"Ahh. Are you a member of Tsuna's famiglia?"
"Nope. I am one of his friends though."
"We came here to play New Year's 'Family Versus' battle in Vongolian style," Reborn started.
Reborn went into greater detail about the 'game'.
"I hope it doesn't end like Reborn and Tsuna's birthday did," Isabella said.
"Me too," Hayato muttered.
Isabella giggled softly at that.
"Tsuna's room is too small, so we'll do it here."
They walked all the way to an empty field.
"No grudges held, regardless of who wins, Tsuna," Dino said.
"I'll be the judge," Reborn stated.
"How did it turn out this way?!" Tsuna complained.
Reborn began to explain the first game.
"So it's just a game of luck," Isabella said out loud.
"Exactly," Reborn agreed.
"Can I go then?" Isabella asked.
"Uhhh I don't see why not," Tsuna answered.
Isabella stuck her hand into the box with the pieces of paper in them. She felt around for a few minutes before pulling one out.
One of Dino's men did the same.
"I'm lucky," the man said.
Everyone turned to Isabella.
I hope I picked a good one.
The highest possible points were two and the lowest were negative two.
Isabella looked at the paper and smiled.
Nearly everyone in the Vongola team cheered.
"2 vs.1," Reborn said.
"At least we're off to a good start," Tsuna said.
Sadly that good start didn't last.
The score was 2 vs. 45 when Dino decided to step in.
"It's adults vs. kids after all. I'll give them a handicap."
"Hm," Reborn considered.
"Dino-san!" Tsuna said.
"You got a point there. Let's just say the points from earlier don't count," Reborn said.
Both Tsuna and Dino looked shocked.
"It's becoming too troublesome, so whoever wins the next round will be the winner. The loser will have to dish out 1 billion dollars," Reborn stated.
"Hey, Reborn! Don't be so absurd!" Tsuna yelled.
"It can't be helped. Once he has an idea, he won't let it go," Dino said defeated.
"Ehh?! You're ok with this?!" Tsuna questioned.
"For the final competition, every family member must participate in the making of rice cake. Whoever gives me delicious red bean cake will be the winner," Reborn explained.
Each family was given the necessary tools. It became quite clear that Dino's famiglia didn't know how to make rice cakes.
They were born and raised in Italy. Unless they actively looked for the culture, they wouldn't know how to make it.
The Vongola famiglia confidently made their rice cakes.
"We got this in the bag," Hayato said.
"Time's up. Now I'm going to compare the taste. Bring it over," Reborn said.
Hayato was looking pretty smug and Tsuna was looking hopeful but Isabella knew better.
"Hayato-kun," she whispered.
"We have a problem."
"Bianchi helped out halfway through and now-"
Dino's own barely resembled what it should. But the Vongola's own was emitting a thin trail of purple smoke and had bugs crawling through it.
"What happened?!" Tsuna yelled.
"Aniki!" Hayato fell to the ground in pain.
"I joined halfway through," Bianchi explained.
Tsuna looked appalled.
"Does the mean we're going to lose?!"
Reborn feigned sleep. Causing Bianchi to have Dino and Tsuna try it. The both of them ended up running off leaving the "Family Versus" at a draw.
"Hey! It wasn't as bad as the party." Isabella commented.
"No it wasn't," Hayato said.
"Isabella-chan. Thanks again for the gift," Ryohei said.
"No problem. I hope I got enough."
"You got more than enough."
"What did she get you?" Takeshi asked. "She got me a baseball glove with my name on it."
"She got me a ton of wrapping and a t-shirt."
"Wrapping?" Takeshi questioned.
"Boxers wrap their hands with bandages. I decided to get him a case of yellow wrapping. The yellow reminded me of Ryohei."
"Well, she made me a pouch to put my dynamite in."
Are they trying to one-up each other with the gifts I got them? Or am I just imagining things?
"Anyway, what are we doing now?"
Dino's men have dispersed and Bianchi took Reborn. The girls and Lambo went off some other way.
"Oh yeah. I didn't eat this morning."
"We can head over to my place. We're not open today but I'm sure my Tou-san won't mind if I bring friends over."
"Great! Let's go!"
The four of them started walking. Well, more the boys were trying to catch up to Isabella.
"Ahh, Ryohei-san your yukata looks very nice. So does your suit H-Gokudera-kun."
Ryohei blushed softly.
"Arigatou. Your kimono looks very nice."
"I thought you were going to wear a suit or something," Hayato said.
"I was going to but I decided now is a good time to wear a kimono. It's my first time as well. I really like it because it's keeping me warm. This Japanese weather freezes my soul."
"Haha. Good thing you have friends to keep you warm."
Takeshi wrapped his arm around Isabella's shoulder.
The four of them walked all the way to Takeshi's house.
Ryohei was glaring daggers at his back the entire time.
That smooth bastard.
Hayato didn't care.
I don't understand why that baseball idiot has to do something so unnecessary. She said the kimono was keeping her warm. He doesn't have to … to hold her.
The arrived and went inside.
"Sorry, we're cl- Takeshi! I see you've brought friends over."
Takeshi's father eyed Takeshi's arm around Isabella's shoulder.
Takeshi slowly slid it off.
Isabella bowed deeply.
"I'm so happy to meet you, Yamamoto-san. I really enjoy your food."
"Ahh. I have a fan."
"Well you four come over and I'll whip something up for you."
Isabella was happily munching on some sushi.
Ryohei and Hayato left after their first plate.
Takeshi was talking to his father.
Just like before, Isabella completely blocked out everything around her.
"Takeshi," his dad started.
"Is this your girlfriend?"
"N-nani? T-tou-san! She's just my friend," Takeshi stuttered out.
Takeshi's father laughed.
"I'm sure if you put yourself out there she'll return your feelings."
"Tou-san! I don't have feelings for her."
"What happened? I was again hypnotized by the sushi because it's amazing."
Takeshi's father smiled at that.
Takeshi face was completely red while his father was smiling like a cat who got the canary.
"Did I miss something?"
"I-" yawn "-am tired. I woke up very early this morning. My friend lives two towns over and I wanted to make sure they got home safe."
"How nice of you. Isn't that nice, Takeshi?"
Isabella looked between them again.
I'm pretty sure I missed something.
"I should head home. My feet hurt after walking around so much."
"Takeshi can walk you home."
"Is that ok, Takeshi-kun?"
Isabella looked up at him.
Isabella got up out of her seat and stretched.
Takeshi got up as well.
"Again, I really love your food, Yamamoto-san."
"Come by anytime."
With that, the two of them left.
"Gah! It has gotten colder!"
Takeshi again wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
The two of them walked, wrapped together, in the winter cold.
"Here's my stop," Isabella said.
Takeshi removed his arm from her shoulder.
" I had a lot of fun today, Takeshi-kun."
"Maybe you can come over and we can make sushi together."
"That would be great."
"See you later Takeshi."
"See you later Isabella."
Isabella opened the door, went inside, and closed the door behind her.
She immediately kicked off her shoes.
"My poor feet. I put you through so much."
She went upstairs and prepared for bed.
It was still pretty early but she was tired.
She put on her pajamas and went into her bed.
Like a light, Isabella was off to sleep.
School just finished and Isabella was bored out of her mind.
"I don't want to go home just yet."
Nagi was coming over this weekend and that was the only thing keeping Isabella going. School isn't as fun now that she can talk to her friends almost whenever she wants.
"Modern technology helps connect people if you let it," she murmured.
It was the last day of January. Any day closer to spring was a blessing in Isabella's mind.
"Maybe I should go check up on Tsuna-kun. It's always lively at his house."
Isabella speed walked over to this house.
"Why is it so cold?!"
Isabella was sitting in Tsuna's room with a cup of tea in her hands. Courtesy of Tsuna's mother.
"So you're Fuuta De La Stella."
"Hai hai. Can I call you Isabella-nee-chan?"
"If you want, little guy."
Dino and his men came into Tsuna's room.
"Ciao Isabella. How have you been?"
"Dino-san!" Tsuna yelled.
"I'm here for Ranking Fuuta. I would like to purchase the rankings of a certain mafia famiglia."
Isabella's eyebrows shot up.
He means business.
Fuuta essentially told him he would give him the rankings free of charge simply because Dino is ranked high on caring for civilians.
Dino took and the ranking and made his leave.
"Well that was interesting," Isabella said.
She took a sip of her tea.
"Your mom makes some really good tea, Tsuna-kun."
"It's hard to come by a chance like this, so why not get some rankings, Tsuna," Reborn said.
"Eh …me?" Tsuna questioned.
"Fine with me!" Fuuta said with a smile.
"That sounds like fun!" Someone yelled from outside.
It was Haru. She came inside through the window.
This girl is weird.
Haru got her ranking then after a while a number of people showed up including Takeshi and Hayato.
When Hayato came into the room, Isabella felt as though a heavy wind was blowing past her. Like a storm.
Sometime earlier in the mouth, he asked her what exactly to look for when meditating.
<To Hayato: You found your flame.
"Hi Isabella," Takeshi greeted.
>From Hayato: I did. How can you tell?
<To Hayato: I can sense it. Your aura feels different.
"Ano Fuuta, Can I get a ranking?"
"Sure! What particular area?'
"It doesn't matter."
He began floating in the air and …. talking with someone or something.
"Isabella-neechan ranks number 1 out of 86,224 for people with the most significant others."
Isabella blinked at that.
"Well, that wasn't what I was expecting."
Tsuna, Hayato, and Takeshi's eyes widened.
Reborn raised his eyebrows in amusement.
"Hahi!" Haru said.
"I need to go home. It's been fun. I'll see you guys tomorrow."
Isabella grabbed her bag and headed for the door.
"Lambo, are you coming?"
The two of them left.
Isabella carried Lambo as rain started to come done.
This only goes to prove what my future self said. But when do those dreams turn into memories?
