Summary
After living and long and somewhat tumultuous life, Ross Poldark dies full of regrets for the mistakes he has made in his past. Instead of arriving in the afterlife, he finds himself returned to a time before many of his more regrettable decisions and is given the option to relive his life making any changes as he sees fit. Not every decisions will end up for the best though, as it seems that some events are unavoidable.

At the end if his life, as he lay dying, Ross Poldark wrestles with his regrets. He closes his eyes and wakes up a young man again, just returned from war. He resolves to live his life differently this time, focusing on a better quality of life for Demelza and his children and changing bad things that happened the 1st time around. Among the changes in the 1st season of Poldark - he does not show anger, resentment or longing about Elizabeth and Francis; works to have a better relationship with his cousin this time around; chooses not to make an enemy of George Waleggen; waits longer to marry Demelza so as not to scare off investors; stops Jim from going to prison and dying; stops Mark from killing his wife Keren after she commits adultery; keeps his family quarantined during the illness; and helps the survivors of the shipwreck rather than looting. His actions also lead to unexpected changes - his 1st child becomes a new son named William and Julia is born 2nd, during the quarantine; he leaves Francis out of the knowledge of Carnmore Copper Company so it prospers; he finds himself helping George avoid scandal after he has an affair with Keren that leads to her getting pregnant and Ross arranging for her to leave the area; Geoffrey Charles dies from the illness without Demelza there to tend him and save him. Ross tells Demelza the truth about him reliving the past, assuring her that he has learned that she is the love of his life. With his changes, Ross and his family lead a good, much more peaceful life.
