Basically I struggled writing this chapter so much as I didn’t want to do anything until I started another fic on what happens at the party but I couldn’t motivate myself to write it?

I then decided I better just write what I need then I can reveal things along and thankfully I figured out how to do that!

Chapter 13: Present mic is a king

!! Back in business baby! I have plot points now so hoping these updates are a lil quicker!

I did try my hand at writing a normal bit of fic, I’m not sure if it works/if people like it and want more?? Idk! It’s not really necessary but it just fills out characters a bit! So Lemme know if you like it and I’ll write more or less depending on reactions!

Also Uh semi warning? Present mic talks about party stuff and it’s cringe and embarrassing

It wasn’t unusual for Kaminari to come bursting into Sero’s room whenever he had a problem, it was rather expected actually. Sero had grown used to the little routine of getting tea ready, with some snacks and video games ready for when the serious conversations had ended. He enjoyed it actually. 

What he didn’t enjoy was when Kaminari burst into his room without warning.

It set Sero off knowing he wasn’t able to get his little routine ready, so he knew he wouldn’t be in the best mindset without his warm drink. But this time Kaminari hadn’t even given him the time to get dressed or even get something to eat.

The raven haired boy was about of give a piece of his mind as he was startled out of bed, but upon glancing at the loud blonde intrusion at his door, he settled slightly with concern.

Denki stood there, eyes wide and panting heavily like he just ran there. He had no shirt, but an alarming amount of love bites and scratches decorated his body just as well. Before Sero could even open his mouth to ask, the blonde was already flopping onto his bed in tears. 

“Hanta, I fucked up man!”

Sero was still trying to process the daylight seeping into his room, let alone the crying Kaminari. The best thing he could do was throw his spare blanket onto the boy in hopes to give him the slightest bit of decency. 

He watched as the blonde graciously snuggled into it with another sob, big eyes now staring up at Sero, awaiting instructions or comfort. The taller boy couldn’t help but give a sympathetic smile as he rested a hand on Kaminari’s head.

“Whatever you did, I’m sure it’ll be okay.” 

Denki blinked a few times before shaking his head, Hanta’s hand slipping off at the action. 

“Nuh-uh, I can never come back from this one this time Buddy, I’m fucked. I’m dead. I’m gone. That’s the end of me man.”

Denki shivered in the blanket as Sero pouted, he’d have to do a little more prying. 

“Well, maybe you wanna tell me what happened before assuming I have the answer?”

He didn’t mean it to sound as harsh as it came out, but somehow it did the trick. The second Kaminari’s mouth opened, a stream of words poured out, unable to stop.

“I slept with my best friend!” He wailed and tucked the blanket over him. “She even stayed the night, but I don’t think she knew I was awake when she woke up and she just swore and shuffled out of my room, that’s not a good sign, bro!”

Ah, the walk of shame. Though there was one more question that needed to be answered to finally crack the centre of the Kaminari-nut. 

“You have many best friends, homie. Who are we talking about here?”

“Jirou!”

Suddenly, it all clicked into place. Jirou and Kaminari had formed one of the strongest friendships in the class by second year, they were practically inseparable. Whenever anyone asked them about dating they both swore they were incredibly happy how they were, and both had crushes on other people. And now the fact they had slept together on a drunk whim, Sero completely understood why the blonde was freaking out. 

“Hey, hey. Oi, no snot on my bed sheets” Sero flicked Denki’s forehead, making him look up again. 

“What do you want from this?”

“Huh?” Kaminari tilted his head slightly. 

“Did you realise you wanted more than a friendship or are you worried you messed it up and just want to go back to being friends?” Sero spoke softly as he began stretching out. He could at least start his morning wake up routine at the same time. 

“I just wanna be friends again, it was nice yeah, very nice even, but we’re friends man, I wouldn’t trade that for the world!” 

Kaminari sobbed again, making Sero sigh as he rubbed his nose on his favourite blanket once more. 

“Have you messaged her asking if you’re still okay?”

“I’m allowed to do that?”

The sheer frustration on the taller boys face could only be described as a second away from slapping the blonde. As much as he loved his best friend, there was only a couple of brain cells residing in his brain at some points. 

“Yes you dumbass, message to just ask if you’re all okay, she won’t take offence by that.” 

Denki sniffled, seemingly calmed by the other’s words as he pulled out his phone.

Sero watched as Kaminari breathed a sigh of relief and shoved his phone into his face. He scanned the messages, raising an eyebrow at Jirou’s comment but decided against saying anything. 

“We’re cool homie, Thankyou so much for this” Denki wiggled happily before hopping up and heading to Sero’s wardrobe. 

“We’ve got breakfast coming up, can I borrow a hoodie?” At this point the blonde was already half deep in Sero’s wardrobe. 

Sero just blinked again, this is why he liked having tea, it woke him up instead of dealing with too much energy. He mumbled a nod before tumbling out of bed himself, slipping on his joggers and shirt as Kaminari claimed one of his old hoodies. 

“Thanks man you’re literally the best.” The blonde tightly wrapped his arms around the other boy’s waist, before unraveling himself and bouncing towards the door. 

“Sure man. Uh, yeah.” Hanta rubbed his face and followed out. It wasn’t often he was this overwhelmed, but he just hoped breakfast could sort it.

It wasn’t the best morning in the world, Mina woke up with a banging headache and a dry mouth from the glorious hangover she was sporting. Though after reading all the masters goss in the chat and eating breakfast with the others, she felt she could cope for the day at least.

And the first step to that was sorting out the groggy mess that was her face.

She even shocked herself going downstairs without even a hint of foundation or mascara after such a rough night, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Though now she finally had the motivation to start her look for the day.

Mina was halfway through gluing a fake eyelash to her eye when she heard a knock at her door.

“Come in!” She knew exactly who it was, the texts she got before confirmed that, though she would always allow anyone to come into her room if needed. 

A shy pair of sweet eyes peeked around the door as it opened slightly. Yaoyorozu shuffled in quickly with a small tray of tea and assorted snacks in her hand. Mina couldn’t help but notice she looked shy, less confident than usual, but she’d wiggle into that once she’d made the other girl comfortable. 

“Hey gorgeous! You can take a seat on my bed, lemme just shove this eyelash into my face.” The pinkette stuck her tongue out in concentration, hearing a few squeaks of her bed springs behind her. After a moment, she blinked a good few times. Success. 

She spun on her swivel seat and dragged herself over to Yaoyorozu, who was politely perched on the end of the bed, tea tray in her lap. She still hadn’t said a word since she’d walked in which worried Mina even more. 

She wondered how to approach this, for anyone else, she would’ve delved into the, ‘alright what’s up’ method, but Momo was much more fragile, and intelligent, for that. She’d have to try something else. 

“The tea smells lovely!” It was a start. “You even bought my favourite snacks? You’re the best!”

Her attempt elicited a small wobbly smile out of the girl, but nothing more. 

With a sympathetic smile, Mina grabbed the tray and placed it aside before grabbing Momo’s hands in her own. She stroked them softly as she looked into the other’s eyes. 

“What’s wrong, sugar?”

Those three words managed to break the taller girl down. Yaoyorozu’s lip began to quiver as she burst into tears, pulling her hands away to cover her face. 

Mina was startled to say the least, she’d never seen her class rep break down so easily. It was heartbreaking, even to her. With a frown, she stood from her chair and pulled Yaoyorozu into her chest, stroking her hair as she let her sob. 

“You can tell Auntie Mina anything, you know that right?” Her voice was gentle, not wanting to step on a landline of uncertainty. “I’m never gonna judge, or give you bad advice. Or give you any advice if you just want me to listen and be here.” 

She waited a few moments before going to speak again, but a soft mumble cut her off. 

“At the party…” Momo hiccuped. “I don’t know if it was the alcohol or the atmosphere… but…” 

Mina rubbed her back waiting for her to finish. Her mind wandered of what it could be. Did she drink too much? Did she sleep with someone too? Did someone cross her boundaries? She tensed at the last thought, ready to beat someone up, when…

“I started feeling attracted to some of the girls…”

Oh. 

Mina wanted to laugh a little bit, all this sobbing because her friend had a couple of gay thoughts? That was perfectly fine, if not normal! She could handle this. 

“And you know that’s okay right?” Mina hummed softly. 

“No it’s not!” Momo pushed back and stared up at Mina. Her eyes were red and full of tears ready to shed again. “It’s really not okay… I’m, I’m not meant to have thoughts like that.”

The pinkette was slightly startled, was Momo homophobic or was this just internalised? She had never had a problem with people coming out, or the pride event at all, so there must be something deeper rooted. 

“And why isn’t it okay for you to think that, Momo? A lot of us have those thoughts, and you don’t think we’re wrong for having them, do you?” 

Momo shook her head violently, the regret showing on her face. 

“No! No, not at all!” She waved her hands in a panic. “Just for me…” 

Yaoyorozu took a deep breath and dipped her head. She knew she was talking to the floor, but it was the only way she could continue speaking without crying. 

“I’ve just always seen myself marrying a man, my family has too, I’ve got a list of suitors lined up for when we graduate. My parents are very kind and said I don’t need to say yes to anyone, but it was just to help out.”

Mina nodded as she listened, taking a seat back on her chair.

“It’s never been said outright, but it’s clear I’m expected to continue my family’s name and bloodline through my own children. I’m already taking a step out of that by going down a hero path, I want to do my family proud, I don’t want to take away my final connection by… not being able to carry that bloodline on.” 

Momo lifted her head slightly, staring at the pinkette who just blinked back at her.

“I don’t want to settle into getting a gir- dating wom- being attracted to women, argh! When I’ve already got my future planned out.” 

Mina gave her a sad smile. To have such ambition and plans at this age must be so taxing for her. She thought for a moment before picking up the rejected tea, shoving a cup into Momo’s hands as she grabbed her own as well.

“Okay, you’ve got a little bit of internalised homophobia. No, don’t speak, you’re not homophobic, but you are to yourself. Let me explain.” Mina dipped her tea.

“You think dating a woman is a bad thing, for yourself. When it’s really not. You’re in high school, you’re meant to explore these things, so that your future can go smoothly and you don’t have any ‘I wish I did this when I was younger’ regrets when you’re old and grey.”

Momo went to speak, but Mina placed her finger to her lips. 

“For all you know, Momo, you could be bi, you like women and men, and you end up marrying a man. You’re still okay to be attracted to women.” She explained. “Or you could be a lesbian, and you make your own family. Bloodlines are an old thing now, you can always adopt a kid, or even with science stuff now you can have you and your partner’s DNA in a kid or whatever.” 

“Or even, you could’ve just got drunk and had a bit of a gay fantasy you wanna try out, which is fine too, and honestly mood. But you’re way too young to be worrying about having children. You need to live life a little before planning your wedding. Have you even fucked anyone yet?”

Yaoyorozu’s face flushed red as she gave Mina a gentle slap on the arm. If it wasn’t for the tea in her mouth, she would’ve called her out for such an inappropriate question. 

“I’m taking that as a no.” Mina giggled lightly, “but you see my point? There’s no need to worry about marriage and kids if you don’t even know what you like in the bedroom! Coming from me, I say explore your thoughts a little, whether you act on them is up to you, but don’t tell yourself off for a normal feeling, okay?” 

Momo nodded lightly, placing her tea down on her lap.

“What if people think it’s weird though? Or think I’m weird?”

“Then they’ll find a pink fist breaking their nose.” Mina grinned as she imitated some punches. “Besides babe, I think everyone in this class is a little fruity, I don’t think you have anyone to worry about judging you. We’re all here for you, no matter what goes on in your massively smart brain.” 

This time Momo let out a chuckle, Mina would consider that a win at least. They drank their tea in silence for a couple of moments, before Momo decided to speak up again. 

“Thankyou for this… and not judging me either… do you think, we could perhaps, continue these talks? I find talking to you really helpful for my outlook on life.” 

Mina nodded, perhaps a little too enthusiastically, as she placed her hand over her heart. 

“Oh absolutely babe! I’m honoured, please do come over any time, I’m always happy to be a helping hand.” 

Momo smiled, standing up to embrace Mina. She towered over the pinkette easily, but she was the perfect height for Momo to rest her cheek on whilst hugging her. 

After a few moments of idle chatter, Momo gathered her teacups and gave a last quick hug to Mina with another Thankyou, before slipping out of the door, a promise to come back whenever she needed someone to listen. 

Once she’d left, Mina slumped back on her seat, running a hand through her hair. That was intense for a supposedly ‘hangover recovery’ morning. She span back around on her chair and shuffled back over to her desk, ready to apply her lipstick before realising she’d only managed to put one eyelash on before Momo arrived. 

She giggled to herself, thinking she gave that whole serious conversation with only one eyelash applied and Momo didn’t even say a thing. 

She was a good friend.

Woof, Welp there it is 😭 I wanted to find a way to have Momo be interested with women but also sticks to my headcanons? I love her character but my headcanons say she’s not been as exposed to the world as others? Like not having a tiktok or knowing memes for example? I like to think whilst being gay is okay, she’s not been exposed to that side of life and therefore doesn’t know how to deal with it when she’s confronted with it herself?

Once again this is a work of fiction! Any and all headcanons are valid, and this is just for plot Character development hehehe

As she approached Denki’s dorm, Jirou took a deep breath in. Her mind was running wild with thoughts of ‘this should’ve never happened’ ‘he’s going to hate you’ and she just didn’t seem to know how to stop it. 

She’ll come back later. 

But just as she stepped to leave, the door flung open, revealing a panicked wide eyed Kaminari. 

“Hi, I mean uh, hey.” He spoke before Jirou could even think of a sentence, “I saw your shadow at the door, but I didn’t hear your knock so I thought I missed it and now I feel bad and— are you leaving?”

Okay, he definitely needed this chat more than she did. 

Jirou gave him a soft smile and shook her head, gaining the confidence of being the calm friend in the moment. 

“Can I come in? It’s probably better chatting inside than at the doorway” she chuckled, hoping the lightheartedness would soothe the blonde. 

It did briefly as he smiled back, widening the door to let her in. But as she stepped in, he was back to picking a loose thread that was on Sero’s borrowed hoodie. 

Jirou sat on the bed, patting it gently when Denki didn’t join her at first. The poor thing looked like he was about to burst into tears. 

“You look like you’re about to cry…” 

That set him off immediately. 

“You’re just my best friend! I messed up so bad man, I don’t want things to be awkward because you’re too good of a friend to lose!” Denki flopped back on the bed and covered his arms with his sleeves.

“I just don’t get why you don’t hate me, we did the nasty when super drunk, and like? That’s just not a nice way to lose the v-card…especially to me when you could be with someone you like and, and, argh!” 

Jirou couldn’t help but smile at his ramblings. It was sweet how he still had her interests at heart even after everything. She shuffled closer, and flicked him on the forehead, earning two eyes peeking from between the sleeves.

“I’m not going anywhere you dumbass, I came here thinking you wouldn’t want to stay my friend and I’d either have to be rejecting you or saying goodbye to our friendship, so on that point we’re actually fine.” 

“Secondly…” she hummed as she thought of her words, “You didn’t mess up at all, I wanted it to happen and it’s okay. Great even, I really enjoyed it regardless of if it’s ‘just you’.” 

Those peeking eyes blinked a few times in disbelief, but the blonde visibly started to relax. 

“I, uh, was wondering though.” Jirou continued, nibbling her nails, “well, I was talking to Mina and-“

“You talked to Mina? She knows?” Denki sat up, a big pout on his face. 

“Of course I did? I needed the pep talk” She pouted back. “You’re telling me you didn’t go straight to Sero? There’s only one person’s hoodies that smell like weed and has stretched out sleeves”

The blonde looked down and flapped the worn out sleeves a little.

“Touché, continue.”

“Did you enjoy it…?”

A myriad of emotions flew across Denki’s face as his cheeks turned a wild shade of red. Of course he enjoyed it, but was this a trick question? If he said yes, would he give off the wrong vibes? But if he said no, would he hurt her feelings? 

He decided to gamble. 

“Yeah… a lot…” 

Jirou gave him a small nod of acknowledgement as her own cheeks flushed. The next question could change everything. 

“Do you think you’d like to try friends with benefits…?”

For the second time that day, Sero waited in his room for another blonde friend to dump their worries. Though there was some sort of an honour of having the one and only Bakugo share what was troubling him. By the fact he agreed to coming to him, Sero knew it had to be something about Kirishima, it was only once in a blue moon Bakugo would go to someone else if anyone at all. 

After sorting out his hammock with a couple of extra pillows, Sero dropped himself on his beanbag, adjusting the snacks on his little coffee table. He definitely promised the spicy Pringles and Coke, but obviously picking up snacks for himself too. As he shoved a bunch of pretzels in his mouth, there was a knock at the door. 

“Comf in!” The muffled pretzel shout still thankfully got the message across as a Bakugo appeared from around the door. 

Sero gave him a sorry look upon seeing him. He was freshly showered and there was a sad, possibly confused, look into his eyes. 

“You don’t tell anyone I was here, okay, Elbows?” 

Ah still the same then. 

Sero nodded and gestured to the hammock as he swallowed his pretzels. He held out the Coke and Pringles that were quickly snatched up as the blonde collapsed into the hammock with a groan. 

“What’s going on man.” Sero opened his own drink as he waited for the response, he wouldn’t expect the other to open up right away but starting it off would be his best bet. 

“I hate Kirishima.”

Well he didn’t expect that at all.

“He’s your best friend, right? It can’t be that bad…” Sero chomped on another pretzel. 

Bakugo finally opened his Pringles, blinking as all the spice dust blew in his face. He just shrugged, he didn’t even know if it was bad or not. 

“Right, okay.” Of course the raven haired boy would have to do the heavy lifting. “On a scale of, Eri eating Mina’s lipstick, to Denki accidentally killing Koda’s hamster, how bad did you fuck up?”

That got Bakugo’s attention, as he shot his head up and almost choked on a Pringle. 

“What makes you think I fucked up?” 

Sero stared him down. He knew by saying the wrong words, Bakugo would be out of here and no one would get anything solved. 

“If it was fully Kiri’s fault, we wouldn’t be hearing the last of it. By the fact he’s gone out and not replied, it’s either your bad or a mutual fuck up.” 

The blonde seemed to take that as an answer as he settled back into the hammock, taking a large swig of his drink. He had to admit Sero was helping, despite being a pain in his ass. 

“I’m gonna check in on him when you’ve gone by the way, you don’t gotta stress.” 

Somehow he could read him perfectly as well. 

If only his mouth would cooperate with his brain right now. He wished to tell Sero everything, how he was feeling, what he was worried about, but it seemed the words just couldn’t force themselves past his lips. 

“So, you hate Kiri, and it’s mostly not his fault…I mean you guys were eyeing each other up all night at the party, I’m not really sure how-” 

“That’s the problem!” 

Sero blinked a couple of times at Bakugo’s outburst. Though things were slowly start to piece together, if only he could just worm it out a little more.

“The party? Or the eyeing up?”

“Both, fuckwad.” 

Sero raised an eyebrow, waiting for Bakugo to continue. He took a few more pretzels to shove in his mouth, knowing he’d be waiting for a few moments. 

Finally he spoke. 

“It’s… Ugh! That stupid party, things got heated and it’s reached a point I’m not sure we can stay friends.” The blonde shoved his face into his hands. 

Something in Sero’s mind clicked, especially considering what Kaminari came to tell him earlier. 

“Did you guys fuck?”

A pillow at Sero’s head practically gave him the answer he needed. He chuckled softly and held his hands up in defence. 

“Hey! you’re really not giving the full story, I’m just trying to get what I can.”

Bakugo sighed, uncharacteristically curling up with another pillow as he shoved a wad of Pringles into his mouth. 

“You know how he gets when he’s drunk…”

“Very touchy and loving?“ 

“Very very touchy and loving.” The blonde nodded in agreement. 

“Is that good or bad?” Sero bit his lip, preparing for the worst of one his friends making another one uncomfortable. 

But he was surprised when Bakugo flushed red again and desperately took a sip of his drink. 

“I just… I didn’t hate it, okay? And I feel weird, and I don’t want to be around him anymore because it brings that weird feeling back, and I don’t know what I want to do with that.” 

The Bakugo nut had finally been cracked, and Sero couldn’t help but grin. Another pillow was thrown. 

“Don’t give me that shit-eating grin! I came for your advice, not for you to be a dick.” 

He smirked again, honoured he was here for advice, but it was still fun to see the blonde so riled up. 

He pondered what to say for a minute, telling him to do something would probably piss him off, but telling him to think on his own would probably mean he ignores Kirishima forever. 

“Well, from looking at this, you’re judging a lot from a drunk experience. I bet Kiri feels real hurt you’re ignoring him right now, because he probably doesn’t know what he did. You know there’s three brain cells in there most times.” 

Bakugo nodded, he was absolutely right, though he’d never admit it vocally. 

“I’m not sure what you want from this to happen And that’s for you to decide you know? But you don’t actually know how he’s feeling, and you’re hurting the friendship by just ignoring it.” 

The blonde nodded again, still saying nothing. He definitely did have to decide his feelings and where he stood with Kirishima, but that was a situation for future Bakugo

“Put a damn movie on or something, I’m comfortable now.” He rolled in the hammock after placing his empty packets down. 

Sero just chuckled and put the first thing that came up on Netflix, happy to chill in silence for a bit whilst he also recovered from the hectic madness of the day.
