Pi drove near the parking lot of the club, trying to locate Nan and Mork. This was not his plan for a Friday night. His parents weren’t home and Duen was out with his friends. He just wanted to watch a movie in his pyjamas, while laying on his bed with some snacks. But did Mork give him the privilege of doing that? No. He went out with his friends, which Pi was more than okay with, but then Nan called him requesting him to come get Mork, because both Mork and his boyfriend were drunk out of their wits, and he wasn’t able to handle them by himself. So, there he was, on boyfriend duty, on a Friday night.
He found Nan’s car soon enough and quickly stepped out, to find Mork leaning his head out of the car window, seemingly zoned out.
“Pi, you are here!” Nan stuck his head out of his window and gave him a soft smile. He seemed relieved.
Pi watched Mork’s head jerk up as Nan spoke, and he looked at him, eyes lighting up. He could have sworn that Mork got out of the car and ran to him, engulfing him in a hug, all within a second.
“Babe!” He exclaimed loudly as his body crashed against his, almost making him lose his balance.
“I missed you so much!” He buried his nose in his hair, and exhaled softly.
Pi watched Nan signalling him, asking if he needed help. He shook his head. Sure, he was a little annoyed at first, but his boyfriend had the cutest reaction on seeing him, and he would be lying if he said that his heart didn’t flutter. Nan flashed him a smile again, and drove off.
He was about to speak, when he felt Mork’s hands on his butt cheeks, making his face heat up. He drew in a sharp breath as he felt him squeeze them softly. Calming his heart down, he managed to move his hands away, and retorted with a “Sutthaya!”
“W-What do you think you’re doing?” He asked, pulling back just a little, enough to look at him, just so that he wouldn’t lose his balance.
Mork gave him a goofy grin, and moved his hands back to his butt. “Soft-cheeked boy.”
Pi blinked at him, memories rushing through his mind, blood rushing to his cheeks, his ears, his whole face. Gosh! Even when he was drunk, Mork didn’t leave a single opportunity to fluster him.
He looked away for a moment, took a deep breath, and moved Mork’s hands again, this time bringing them up to his shoulders, wrapping his own arm around his waist.
“Come on, I’ll take you home.”
“No!” Mork whined. “I don’t want to.” His words were slurred.
“Huh? Then where do you want to go?”
Mork smiled wide. “To the beach.”
Pi stared at him for a moment. Was he for real? He wanted to go to the beach in the middle of the night? “Wow! You are really drunk.”
“Yes!” He looked at him with his drowsy eyes. “I am drunk…in love.” The last words were followed by a poorly attempted wink, but he looked pleased with himself, either way.
Oh this wasn’t going to be easy, was it? He shook his head and sighed. He had never seen Mork drunk, much less take care of him when he was. It had always been the other way round, and Mork had a lot more patience than he did.
“Mork, it’s really late, we should go home.”
Mork pouted. “Nooo! I want to go to the beach, and play in the water, and…and kiss you under the moonlight.”
It wasn’t a bad idea. Infact it sounded good for a cute date night. “Okay, we’ll go there tomorrow.”
Mork whined again and put his head on his shoulder, wrapping his hands around his waist. “I wanna go today!” He lifted his head and looked into his eyes again. “Na? (Please?)” He tilted his head to the other side. “Na?” He rubbed his nose against his. “Na?”
Pi bit his lip. How on earth was he supposed to say no to that?
They walked along the beach, with him trying his best to keep Mork steady on his feet. Yes, he had succumbed to his boyfriend’s cuteness, and seeing Mork smile giddily as he drove to the beach, didn’t make him regret anything.
Suddenly Mork gasped. “Water!” Pi realized that they could now see the rippling waves on the shore. Mork seemed to be buzzing with energy as he broke out of his grasp and took a few wobbly steps towards it, with Pi scrambling to catch him, afraid that he would fall, face first, into the sand.
“Hey!” He managed to get a hold of him, before that happened. “Where do you think you’re going? Didn’t I tell you to hold on to me?” Pi frowned at him.
Mork pouted. “But…But water.” He pointed a finger at the waves. “I wanna swim. I wanna swim with you.”
This was like babysitting a five-year old, only that his boyfriend was over six-feet tall, very stubborn, extremely flirty and could not be persuaded with candies.
Pi sighed. “Mork, I brought you to the beach, right? Now, you have to listen to me. Arent you a good boy?”
Mork seemed to think for a moment. “No, I’m a bad boy…” He brought his face closer to his. His voice, low and husky. “I’m a very…very bad boy.” He moved back a bit, and smiled. “But, I’ll be good for you.”
Pi felt goosebumps on his back, as he looked into Mork’s drunk eyes, which kind of looked seductive in that moment.
“Fine.” He spoke shakily. “We’ll go into the water, but no swimming and you’ll not let go of me. Is that clear?”
Mork frowned at first, then nodded, smiling. “I’ll never let go of you, babe.” He said as he grabbed his hand tightly.
He sighed and withdrew his hand from his grip. Mork was about to complain when he spoke again. “Stand still.” Pi said, before bending down to take off Mork’s shoes, and roll his pants up, one arm still around his waist. He straightened after doing the same for himself.
They stood on the shore for a while - tiny waves lapping at their ankles, and then retreating back, pulling the sand beneath their feet along with- until Mork announced that he was tired and wanted to sit and watch the waves instead.
So, there they were, sitting on the beach, at almost 2 in the morning, looking at waves, under the night sky. They didn’t talk, the only sound that could be heard was that of the waves and the light breeze. Mork was leaning on his shoulder, both arms wrapped around his waist, as he ran his fingers through his hair. He glanced at him, and couldn’t help but smile. Boyfriend duty wasn’t so bad after all.
“This is beautiful.” Mork spoke after a while.
Pi smiled to himself. “I have seen better.”
Mork looked up to him, slightly frowning. “Where?”
He looked at him for a moment, smile still on his lips, then leaned down to press a light kiss on his lips.
Pi watched Mork’s eyes light up as realization hit him, lips curling into a shy smile.
This however was in contrast to Mork’s usual reaction to Pi flirting back. He usually raised his eyebrows, half amused, half happy, and often, replied back with something flirtier. But drunk Mork was actually blushing, stealing his eyes away from Pi and trying to hide his face in the crevice of Pi’s neck.
It seemed like he just found an adorable side of his boyfriend. The kind where he wanted to carry him around in his pocket, cuddle him to death and smother him with kisses.
He chuckled silently while ruffling said boyfriend’s hair. This may not have been his plan for the night, but he wouldn’t trade it for the world.
