Work Text:

Lan Wangji kept his arms behind him as he walked with his brother looking completely calm. “Brother, what do you mean we have to go to Yunmeng?” His voice was monotone, but Lan Xichen knew his brother was very worried.

“It will be a good learning experience, Wangji. Don’t be worried about this place. I’m sure it will be a very eye opening experience. Have faith.”

“I don’t know how I can have faith, brother. This place is very different from ours.”

“It really isn’t. Besides, I hear the disciples there are very skilled. You might learn a thing or two from them.”

“You’re right. Thank you, brother.”

“You’re welcome, Wangji. Be at the docks my dawn tomorrow. We have to leave early if we want to make it in time.” He gave a small smile before turning to his desk as Lan Wagnji did the same.

The next morning, the Twin Jades of Lan stood in the boat, backs straight, hands behind their backs, and faces strong.

“We will be there by the afternoon. Please eat.” Lan Xichen gave him a bag from somewhere inside his robes.

“Thank you.”

The afternoon drew near in Yunmeng.

“WEI WUXIAN!” That wasn’t anything new. Wei Wuxian thought as he pushed himself up from his laying position.

“I’m over here, Jiang Cheng!” He got up and took a running start to jump off of the small ledge. With how he landed, he looked ethereal because the children’s flags gave beautiful color around him.

Jiang Cheng’s face formed into a scowl as he looked at his brother. “Get dressed! We have to go greet our guests soon!”

“I will, Jiang Cheng. You have so little faith in me.”

“We all have to.” Jiang Cheng flicked his wrist and left. Wei Wuxian sighed, putting his hands on his hips.

“He’s never going to get it is he?” He asked himself before telling the kids to end early.

They all left with a thank you. Wei Wuxian stood up and pulled his robes on, but was way too lazy to tie it. “I’ll tie it at the docks.” He shrugged and threw his hands behind his head and walked slowly to the docks to meet Yan Li and Jiang Cheng.

“Master Wei!” A young boy came running and tackled him to the ground.

“Oh, what are you doing here, A’Yuan?” (Just pretend that this is a thing I couldn’t come up with a better option)

“Wen Ning wasn’t looking, so I got away.” He smirked. Wei Wuxian smiled and got up putting A’Yuan on his shoulders. “Welp, let’s go greet your family before they kill me for kidnapping you.” A’Yuan giggled loudly as they rounded the corner to the docks.

Yan Li turned around smiling at the two. “A’Xian, come say hello to our guests from the Wen clan.”

“Hey Wen Qing! Hey Wen Ning!” Wei Wuxian and A’Yuan both waved at the two. Wen Ning was smiling softly at the two hiding behind his sister. He raised his hand and waved slightly.

Wen Qing, on the other hand, had her arms over her chest and looked a little pissed. “Wei Wuxian, why and how did you get A’Yuan?”

“Um, he just found me. Sorry, Wen Qing.” He gave her a small smile trying to avoid her death glare. She just rolled her eyes and walked with Wen Ning and one of the disciples to their rooms. “Come on, A’Yuan. We need to freshen up.”

“But I want to stay with Wei Wuxian!”

“He can stay with me, Wen Qing. I’ll bring him back by the time everyone else comes back.”

“He better be back in one piece. The elders wouldn’t like it if he didn’t.” With another death glare, the Wen members left.

“Why is sister always so mean? She just hates me.” Wei Wuxian fake cried.

Another boat came in bringing members from the Nie Clan.

“Nie Mingjue, Nie Huaisang, it’s great to finally meet you.” Jiang Cheng greeted with a proper bow. Yan Li did the same. Wei Wuxian grabbed A’Yuan so that he was wrapped around his front.

“It’s a pleasure to meet both of you. I hope your travels weren’t that harsh.”

“They weren’t.” Nie Mingjue andwered with a bow and left.

“S-S-Sorry about him.” Huaisang bowed and ran after him while Meng Yao wasn’t far behind.

“Wei Wuxian, get your act together. The Lan Clan is approaching.” Jiang Cheng said through a sneer and closed teeth. Yan Li gave him a sympathetic smile while Wei Wuxian moved A’Yuan to his side.

Lan Xichen was the first to get off followed by Lan Wangji.

“Hello Twin Jades of Lan. We are very pleased to have you come here.” When Lan Wangji got off of the boat, his eyes locked with Wei Wuxian’s.

“Hello, you two. It’s very nice to meet you both.” Wei Wuxian shot them both a Wei Wuxian smile making Xichen smile back and Wangji be completely stunned. Wei Wuxian bowed trying to keep A’Yuan up. Yeah, that didn’t work. A’Yuan pulled Wei Wuxian’s black robes off. “AH! A’Yuan!” Wei Wuxian managed to make sure A’Yuan landed on top of him. A lot of his chest was exposed as A’Yuan had grabbed most of his robes in the fall trying to break it. “Are you okay, A’Yuan?!” Wei Wuxian checked over his body making sure that he was fine.

“I’m good, Wei Wuxian.” Wei Wuxian smiled and got up with him in his arms.

“Sorry about that, you two.” Wei Wuxian tried to keep his upper body covered with something that A’Yuan didnt pull down, but it wasn’t doing much.

Lan Xichen smirked as he took a glance at Lan Wangji. Lan Wangji might have looked completely fine on the outside, but Xichen could tell his brother was at a loss for words. His eyes were .01mm wider than usual and his signature poker face had a tiny tick in the jaw.

“Um, Lan Zhan, are you okay?”

‘Oh, he already made a nickname. Uh oh. His smirk is directed right at Lan Wangji.’

Wei Wuxian came to stand right in front of Lan Wangji with a small smirk on his face. He held A’Yuan on his side making his hip jut out a little to the right. Lan Wangji was having a very hard time keeping his eyes somewhere decent. Wei Wuxian’s milky skin shining in the sun with the very strong lines of an eight pack near where A’Yuan rested didn’t help much. It also didn’t help that Lan Wangji was only being greeted by the most beautiful person he had ever met.

“Here, I’ll help you two to your rooms. You seem a little stunned by this place. I was too when I came here the first time. Come on.” Wei Wuxian turned around and walked towards the palace, but Lan Wangji was pretty much plastered to the dock. Lan Xichen made it about two feet when he looked back.

“Um, Wei Wuxian, can you help my brother? I need to use the bathroom real quick. I can take A’Yuan with me as well.”

“Um, it’s fine. I can deal with A’Yuan, but one of the members will walk you to the lavatory.” Wei Wuxian repositioned A’Yuan and walked over to Lan Wangji. “Lan Zhan? Lan Zhan?”

“We need to go. Come on.” Wei Wuxian gave him a smile and took Lan Zhan’s right hand in his left and pulled him towards the palace. A’Yuan was facing towards Lan Zhan and saw how red Lan Zhan’s face was.

All he did was giggle at the teen that was currently going through the biggest gay panic he’s ever encountered.

Lan Zhan’s hand started to sweat as he tried to keep his heartbeat down. “So, this is where we have our banquets, this is where we train our younger disciples, and this is where I train the young ones. I’m actually one of the head disciples, but you probably already knew that.”

“Do you say anything other than Mmhn?”

“Wei Ying.”

“Oh, I like that name. From now on, you’re calling me Wei Ying, and I’ll call you Lan Zhan.” Lan Zhan’s eyes widened as he watched every little movement that came from Wei Ying. “Come on, Lan Zhan.” Lan Zhan basically combusted then and there.

“Uh I uh.”

“You’re so cute when you can barely talk.”

“W-W-What? Wei Ying!”

“See, you’re using the proper name.” Wei Ying tightened his grip and got to the palace to get Lan Zhan and A’Yuan to their respective rooms.

Lan Zhan opened the door to his room finding Lan Xichen sitting at the table with a very big knowing smirk on his face. “Nice of you to join me, Wangji.”

“Brother, something is very wrong.”

“I think this is what those over here call a crush, Wangji.” Lan Xichen gave Lan Zhan a raised eyebrow asking for him to prove him wrong. “It’s so obvious, brother. The only person who wouldn’t be able to tell would be the most oblivious person in the world.”

“Which he most likely is knowing my luck.” Lan Zhan mumbled.

“You don’t know that.”

“Oh, yeah he’s oblivious.” The two brothers looked up to see Wen Qing. All three bowed to each other before Wen Qing continued her journey to the medical area. Somehow, Wen Ning hurt himself with a bowl.

During the entirety of training at Yunmeng, Lan Zhan was the hugest mess of a human being for Lan standards. He couldn’t get to bed, he would wake up a minute late, and he is sure at least 1,000 of the 3,000 Lan Sect rules in the past few weeks. He doesn’t even want to look his uncle in the face when he returns.

It wasn’t helping that Wei Ying would be there to help train some of the younger members. He could always see him out of the corner of his eyes.

Today was the last day before everyone would have to leave. Today was just going to be another day of get through this without going through a gay panic as he could potentially see Wei Wuxian. “Lan Zhan!” Speak of the devil.

Lan Zhan turned around about to ask what when he felt a tug on his arm. “Wei Ying! What are you doing?! Where are you taking us?!”

“We’ve got to hide! My brother is pissed at me!” Lan Zhan tried to pull his wrist out of Wei Ying’s hand, but that wasn’t working.

In less than a few seconds, Lan Zhan felt his back get pushed a little roughly onto the bark of a tree. Wei Ying came and used his black robes to blend into the scenery. Lan Zhan couldn’t breathe. With the proximity of their bodies, Lan Zhan’s brain was just not working at all.

“Um, W-W-Wei Ying?”

“Shh.” Wei Ying pulled out his finger and covered Lan Zhan’s lips to give the Shh sign. Lan Zhan’s brain was running at 30 miles an hour. He had no idea what to do. Wei Ying had his hand on the back of his head protecting him from the hard bark, but that was the least of his problems. The proximity was. He didn’t even realize when Wei Ying accidentally brushed his hand against the back of his headband pulling it off.

When the rustling above finally stopped, Wei Ying pulled away enough so that their foreheads were almost touching. Lan Zhan’s eyes were darting from Wei Ying’s chest to his eyes to his lips over and over again as he tried to find an excuse to get out of this tempter’s hold.

“You know, you can draw a picture and it’d last longer.” Wei Ying chuckled pulling away and finding a white headband in his hands. “Don’t think I don’t see those stares. I know you like me.”

“Don’t be absurd!”

“Don’t lie to yourself. Wei Ying held up the head band right in front of Lan Zhan’s face. “You didn’t even notice when this happened.” Lan Zhan’s eyes went wide.

“You’re not allowed to touch that-“

“Yes yes, I know. Only family or your partner is supposed to touch it. Lan Xichen told me. I guess I’m yours then. Take me, Lan Zhan.” Wei Ying’s smirk was plastered on his face as he kept taunting the poor Lan in the hugest gay panic of his life.

Lan Zhan didn’t know whether to snatch the headband out of Wei Ying’s hands or use it to pull him closer, so he did something in between. . .

Lan Zhan tugged the headband out and with lightning speed, he pulled a reverse on Wei Ying. He used the headband to restrain Wei Ying’s wrists and shoved them above Wei Ying’s head and used the wrist band of Wei Ying’s right arm to reinforce it.

“Wow, if you really wanted me, you could’ve just said so. I love a nice game of bondage.” Lan Zhan blushed profusely at the crude words, but he couldn’t deny it made something in him stir.

“What the hell are you even saying in a place like this?!”

“I can see it in your eyes. I know you are scared to admit it, so why don’t you just try?” Lan Zhan wanted to punch Wei Ying for his fowl words. He pulled his arm back and made a fist. He threw it foreword. Wei Ying didn’t even flinch as the hand went around to the back of his head and pulled him down into a searing kiss.

Lan Zhan was the one to pull away as he needed air. Wei Ying looked at him with a huge smirk plastered on his face. “See? It’s better isn’t it? Now, are you willing to do it again? I do like to taste you.”

“W-W-What?!” Lan Zhan was at a loss for words. Thankfully, or unthankfully, someone found them.

“Wei Wuxian? Lan Wangji? What are you two doing down here?” A’Yuan stood a couple of feet away from them as he tried to come down the steep hill.

“No! A’Yuan, don’t come down here, it’s too dangerous!” The boy didn’t hear Wei Ying and slipped. Lan Zhan jumped away from Wei Ying and caught A’Yuan before he was even two feet from where he slipped. He held the child close to him as he flew down the rest of the way to Wei Ying, who had already gotten free from the binds of the headband and had it held out to Lan Zhan. “A’Yuan, I told you not to come down here.”

“But you two were down here.”

“Do you like being with us, A’Yuan?” A’Yuan nodded and held out his hand bringing Wei Ying closer by the headband.

“Ah, I see. Even A’Yuan knows we would make the best couple. Lan Zhan rolled his eyes keeping a good grip on A’Yuan so he wouldn’t fall. Lan Zhan discreetly pulled Wei Ying down. “Shut up.”

“Make me.” He definitely did. Lan Zhan pulled Wei Ying’s face close and kissed him deeply.

Up a little further, Lan Xichen, Wen Ning, Wen Qing, Yan Li, and Jiang Cheng sat near the edge waiting for the three to come back up.

“You owe me a drink, Jiang Cheng.” Xichen stood up, giving Jiang Cheng a small smile.

“I’m just glad they found each other.” Yan Li said giving them the sibling seal of approval.

“Wait, who are we watching?” Everyone turned to Nie Huaisang standing there with his fan.

“We’re watching our cute pairing finally admit their feelings before we go back.” Wen Ning said bouncing on his toes a little at the excitement.

“Ooh. They’re cute.”

Lan Zhan pulled away feeling a couple of presences. “I think we should go. We have to leave soon. You should come to Lan with me.”
