And Baby Makes Four

Chapter Text

Allie woke up to a sound she couldn’t quite place. She looked over at the redhead sleeping next to her and smiled before hearing the noise again, someone throwing up? She sat up quickly and made her way out to Debbie’s bathroom. She heard the sound again this time knowing her suspicions were right. She knocked on the door and stood there for a few seconds before it opened.

“Hey sweetheart, not feeling too hot, huh?”

“Yeah. Think it must have been something from where I ate dinner.” Debbie gave her a small smile as she started to brush her teeth.

“You sure you’re okay?” If there was one thing Allie wasn’t the best at it was dealing with a puking Debbie, or anyone for that fact.

“I’m fine mamma, already feeling better. I’m gonna go back to bed.” She gave Allie a tight hug. “Love you”

“Love you too, kiddo.” She gave Debbie a kiss on the head before heading back to her own bedroom.

Climbing back into bed she wrapped her arms around Bea. “Everything okay baby?” the redhead’s voice raspy and sleep filled

“Yeah, Deb just has a small case of food poisoning” she placed a kiss on the back of Bea’s neck never receiving a response.

Two weeks later

“Hey mamma,” Debbie’s voice was quiet had Allie not been paying attention she wouldn’t have heard her.

“Hey sweetheart,” Allie quickly glanced up from her computer giving her daughter a small smile.

“Can I uh, can I talk to you? If you don’t have a patient or whatever.” Allie closed her computer finally catching Debbie's eyes. Her heart sunk seeing the 16 year old on the verge of tears.

“What’s wrong sweetie?” Allie moves from her desk to her couch, patting the spot next to her. “Come sit with me”

Debbie quickly took a seat next to the blonde, snuggling into her. “Promise me you won’t be mad?” She let the tears free fall.

“I promise Deb, did you wreck the car or something?” Allie pulled the teen closer to her.

“No. It’s worse” Debbie cried into Allie’s chest. Allie knew Debbie had more than Beas looks. Allie gently stroked her back hoping the comfort was enough.

She gently lifted Debbie’s chin to look her in the eyes. “Okay well whatever it is -“ she was cut off by Debbie's sudden outburst.

“I’m pregnant” Allie’s whole body went stiff for a minute before relaxing. She let out a sigh

“Okay. Uh, okay. I’ll go to the store and get a test. We can take it together,” she choked back tears hoping her voice sounded as strong and calm as she thought.

“I already took like ten. I also, I uh, I went to the clinic, the one Aunt Bridget works at. They did a blood test there and” she was crying again Allie held her closer

“Okay, does mum know? Was this your first time? How far along are you?”

Debbie’s eyes widened and she stared at Allie “No mum doesn’t know. I don’t even know how to tell her. Only you and aunt Bridget know. I don’t know how far along I am. No it wasn’t my first time, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you” she found Allie’s gaze again “you’re not mad?”

“No, I'm not mad. And Debbie, i know we’re close but please don’t be sorry for not telling me, or mum, that you started having sex. You do know you have to tell mum right? While I am comfortable keeping some stuff between us, this isn’t one of those things. The sooner you tell her the better.”

“She’s gonna kill me, mamma.” Debbie sounded and look genuinely scared.

“Hey, give her a little more credit than that. She’s not gonna kill you. She’ll be upset but she won’t kill you.”

"Can you tell her?”

“Nah deb, I’ll be there but you have to tell her.” Debbie nodded and lay down placing her head in Allie’s lap.

“Can we stay here for a little while? Just me laying on you?” Debbie asked through her tears.

“Of course. I just have one question. You weren’t throwing up from food poisoning a few weeks ago were you?” Debbie just shook her head in response.

“Thank you for telling me” There was no response from Debbie, just some sniffles and ragged breathing.

Bea came home to a quiet house. Nothing unusual she figured Allie was in her office and Deb was doing homework. Peeking her head in Debbie's room, not seeing her, she made her way downstairs to Allie's office. She smiled at the sight before her. Her daughter asleep in her wife’s lap allies head on the back of the couch sleeping too. She quietly made her way over to the pair.

“Hey babe” she gently kissed the blondes forehead waking her

“Hi.” She gave Bea a quick kiss before bringing a hand up to massage her neck “let’s let Debbie sleep for a little bit, she had a rough day”

“Okay?” Bea said looking down at the teen “I’m gonna get started on dinner, how’s pasta? Don’t feel much like cooking tonight. Don’t let Deb sleep too long, she’ll be up all night.” Allie just smiled and nodded

“Love you”

“Love you too, babe” Bea leaned down giving Allie another kiss before heading to the kitchen.

Allie and deb joined Bea in the kitchen awhile later. Bea noticed deb was quieter than normal and definitely not eating as much as normal.

“Deb everything okay?” Bea took a forkful of pasta into her mouth.

“Yeah, I just have to tell you something but you're gonna be mad” deb didn’t look up from her plate, absentmindedly pushing her food around.

“Come on deb, you can tell me. Did ya wreck the car?” Debbie shook her head at her moms question. Allie grabbed Beas hand to get her attention. The look in her eyes telling her patience was the key

Debs voice as shaking “I’m scared”

“Sweetie you have to tell her” Allie’s voice was sweet and calm. Bea raised an eyebrow at her curious.

“Okay” she took a deep breath and was quiet for a minute “please don’t be mad. Mum, okay, uh well,” she took another deep breath. She stared at her plate unable to make eye contact with either of her mothers, “ fuck. I’m pregnant”

“Excuse me” Beas tone was sharp, she looked at Allie “ you knew”

“Bea” allies voice warned

Bea didn’t say anything before pushing herself up from the table. A few seconds later Debbie and Allie heard the bedroom door slam shut. “I’m going for a run” Bea returned after a few minutes not looking at the table before leaving the house.

“I told you she was going to be mad” Debbie pushed herself away from the table slamming her own door when she got to her room. Allie heard her music turn on

“Fuck” she let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding before getting up and going to debbies room. Opening the door she found the young girl crying into her pillows.

“Go away! I told you she was gonna be mad” she threw a pillow at Allie, who caught it.

“I think you’re gonna need this” she made her way across the room handing the pillow back to Debbie

“Give her time Debs, let her cool down. I don’t think she’s mad just not what she expected. Come here” Allie pulled Debbie close to her letting the teen cry

Allie isn’t sure how long Bea is gone but she hears the dishes from dinner all but being thrown into the sink. She gently peeled herself away from Debbie being careful not to wake her before making her way into the kitchen.

“Bea,” Allie’s voice was soft but firm. Anger, which she did feel, wasn’t what Bea needed right now “you’re gonna wake deb. Let me help you. We need to talk”

“Nah Allie, don’t feel much like talking right now” Bea continued her ministrations at the sink

“See, that doesn’t matter because this isn’t about wanting to talk it’s about needing to talk.” Allie cut the soft tone this time. Her and Bea rarely fought when they did it could barely even be considered a fight usually just bickering. This, Allie knew, was going to be a fight.

“Piss off allie”

“I’m not going anywhere Bea. We need to talk.”

“Allie seriously, fuck off”

“No, and don’t speak to me like that Bea.” Allie handed Bea a plate “we need to talk. You need to talk to Debbie without running off or yelling. The three of us need to sit down as a family and talk. She’s scared and upset and mad at herself. She doesn’t need you to be mad at her too”

“It’s my job to protect her.” Bea turned from the sink drying her hands “I should have prevented this” brown eyes met a dark blue, darker than what Bea was used to.

“How Bea? How exactly could you have prevented it? Remember when you told me I can’t protect you from life? You can’t protect Debbie from life, Bea. We talked to her about sex. We did our part. She’s not a dumb kid” Allie was raising her voice now “condoms aren’t a hundo you know that. Did you say you were on the pill when you got pregnant with Debbie? It happens! She needs our support, what she doesn’t need is her moms yelling at each other over it. We can’t change it!”

“But you knew, Allie. You knew and you didn’t tell me!” Bea was yelling now, not caring about waking Debbie.

“She just told me today too! It wasn’t my place to tell you. She needed to be the one to tell you. Running off like you did, we both know that was wrong. That wasn’t a typical reaction from you.”

“She told you first” Bea started crying “She told you first, not me.”

Allie pulled Bea into her feeling the older woman stiffen she quickly let go. “She was afraid of how you were gonna react. Which I understand. Sometimes you just see red, Bea.”

“Fuck off, Allie” Bea spit, her voice laced with venom. Allie simply took Bea’s hand and pulled her to the couch forcing her to sit.

“I already told you not to talk to me like that. I’m not going anywhere. Yes she told me first, but only a few hours before she told you. Was I mad when she told me? A little bit. I think I was more surprised and then disappointed than mad though. You’re allowed to feel however you want but you need to support her. Her decision, whatever it is, won’t be easy. You have to talk to her.” Allie caught Bea’s eye and saw the hurt.

She pulled her close and gave her a soft kiss on the forehead. What she didn’t expect was for Bea to grab her face and pull her into a deep kiss. Bea tried to push Allie so she was on her back but Allie resisted.

“Sex isn’t going to fix this. We need to talk before you even think about touching me like that right now.” Allie pushed Bea off of her watching as the redhead looked away. “Talk to me, babe. What’s going on in that head?”

“What if she winds up like me, Allie? In a miserable marriage with a man that doesn’t treat her right? Beats and rapes her? That baby being the only thing keeping her going? What if that’s what happens?” Bea looked at Allie tears streaming down her face, almost unable to catch her breath.

“Oh baby,” Allie wiped a tear away before pulling Bea back to her. “We aren’t going to force them to get married. We are not your parents and I don’t think Vera and Jake are like that either. Remember they had Josh young. What you went through with Harry, will not happen to Debbie.”

“Yeah, because she’s smarter than me” Bea sobbed into Allie’s chest.

“Woah, you take that back. Bea you are not dumb you were not dumb. Your past does not make you dumb. You were forced into a marriage at 18. FORCED. It wasn’t your choice. Staying with him was not dumb. Leaving a situation like that is scary, but you did it. You are an incredible woman Bea Novak. Debbie takes after you, she is just like you.” Allie let her own emotions take over as she held her wife. Allie laid them down so Bea was completely on top of her.

“I’m sorry, Allie.” was the last thing Bea said before she fell asleep.

Allie rubbed Bea’s back as the older woman slept. She continued to cry, rubbing Bea’s back. She eventually drifted off to sleep.

hello all! sorry this isn’t an actual update but just wanted to let you know I haven’t abandoned this story! Life threw me some curveballs and I spent a few weeks in and out of the hospital/doctors office. All is well now and my undiagnosed mystery disease will have an update by the end of the week!

Chapter Text

Bea awoke sometime later to movement in the hallway. Being a light sleeper meant when she wasn’t in her room every sound woke her up. She slowly moved off Allie as she heard the bathroom door shut followed by the water turning on. She slowly moved down the hall knocking on the bathroom door before opening it.

The sight before her broke her heart, Debbie practically hugging the toilet trying (and failing) to throw up quietly. She sat on the floor next to Debbie holding her curls back for her.

“I’m sorry, Deb. My reaction was not okay. I wasn’t expecting that, at all. I didn’t even know you were having sex.” Bea was cut off by Debbie throwing up again.

“I heard you fighting, you and mamma.” Debbie leaned into Bea

“Yeah we did fight, but we’re okay. I need you to know the fight wasn’t because of you. But Mamma was right, we all need to talk.” Bea held her daughter close “I also want you to know that I truly am sorry for how I reacted. Ya know, when I was pregnant with you I was so sick. It was awful, but I guess you were worth it.” Debbie just laughed before pulling Bea into a hug.

“Are my girls partying without me?” Allie walked into the bathroom raising an eyebrow at Bea and Debbie.

“If you consider throwing up a party, weirdo. Can I lay with you guys? And can I skip school tomorrow considering it’s like 4:30?”

“You‘ll be right, missing one day. One condition, you have to sit with us and talk.” Allie answered before Bea could, receiving a glare from the red head.

“I’ll just message Maxine and have her reschedule my clients. Let’s get you to bed, yeah?”

The three made their way to bed. Debbie sandwiched between the two older women.

Allie woke and checked the clock, 9:45am, before looking at Debbie who was still sound asleep beside her. The spot next to Debbie was empty and likely had been for some time. Allie made her way to the kitchen to find a fresh pot of coffee. She poured herself a cup before going to look for Bea. Peering out the sliding door she saw her sitting on the porch.

“Hey” Allie made her way outside sitting in a chair next to Bea. She leaned over giving her a quick kiss before settling in and taking a sip of her coffee.

“Hi,” Bea replied in a whispered tone. There was a tension in the air the couple wasn’t used to. “We should probably talk huh?”

“Yeah, we should.” Allie studied Bea. Her eyes were bloodshot, swollen, and already had dark circles under them.

“Just please don’t therapist me” Bea turned to look at her and Allie saw her eyes were already filled with tears. “I don’t even know where to start.”

“Well we could start with the fact that Debbie’s pregnant. We have to get her to the doctor, make sure she knows all her options. Maybe let her and Bridget talk alone.” She reached for Bea’s hand giving it a gentle squeeze, her own eyes filling with tears.

“She’s so young.”

“Yeah, but mistakes don’t discriminate, Bea. But that’s why she needs us, needs you. I’ve only been here a few years.” It was true, her and Bea had met only four years ago. “She needs her mum now more than ever.”

“She needs you too Al. You are her mamma, her favorite.” Bea smiled remembering the first time Debbie called her that.

“I know babe, but you two have a special bond.” Allie gave Bea a small smile. “We just have to support her. Make sure she knows we’re there for her.”

“I’m gonna be a grandmother at thirty-four”

“Thirty-four? I’m gonna be a grandmother at twenty-seven! I’m too young and too hot to be called grandma!” both women started laughing

Debbie was watching from the kitchen. She couldn’t help but feel bad that both her moms were crying. She was confused when they both started laughing at something Allie said. She stood there for a minute somewhat scared to move. She knew that she had to talk to them together but after the way Bea reacted she didn’t want to talk to either one of them. She slowly made her way out to the porch shivering slightly at the feel of cool morning air.

“Uh, can I have coffee or do I have to have tea?” if the women had still been talking they wouldn’t have heard her. She looked back and forth between the two waiting for an answer.

“You can have a coffee Deb, one won't do much damage. Why don’t you join us out here, yeah?” Bea smiled at her daughter pointing to the empty chair next to Allie.

Debbie walked back out with her coffee taking a seat in the chair that was now across from her moms. The three of them making somewhat of a triangle. She knew this tatict, Allie had used it on them before. Something about being able to see everyone’s face.

“I’m sorry,” Deb blurted out “We were safe!” She took a sip of her coffee “We used a condom, we always used a condom. I even watched to make sure he put it right.” Allie watched as Bea cringed slightly. “But then my period was super short, only like two day and lately everything makes me nauseous so I took a test and then panicked and went to the clinic.” She took a deep breath before continuing “They said I’m eight weeks and gave me some pamphlets. Aunt Bridget wasn’t there that day. I’m sorry. I know you guys were fighting last night and I saw you crying this morning.”

“Deb, it’s okay” Allie gave her a soft smile. “Things happen, condoms aren’t 100%. But you know we have questions right?”

“I was on the pill when I got pregnant with you”. Bea blurted out before her brain could process what her mouth was saying. Debbie’s eyes went wide as she looked at her mother, who’s face had turned as red as her hair.

“Really?” Bea just nodded her head. “Wow”

“Does Josh know?” Allie was the one to break the uncomfortable silence. Debbie just shook her head.

“He never forced you, did he?” Bea’s voice filled with concern.

“No, never. He always stopped when I wanted to.” Bea just nodded happy to be reassured that Debbie wasn’t forced into anything.

“Well I think Josh does deserve to know. Why don’t you invite him over for dinner tonight? You don’t have to tell him here or even today but I do think he deserves to know.” Allie looked between Bea and Debbie. “Oh and I unfortunately have one appoint today that I can’t reschedule. It’s at 11:30 so I’m gonna take a quick shower so I can be ready. You two can go to the clinic without me and we can meet for lunch?” Allie watched as Bea’s face fell.

“Oh, okay mamma.” Allie was the first to get up so she could shower and get ready for her patient.

“Hey mum, do you think you can do me a favor?”

“Of course baby. What is it?”

“Can you tell Aunt Frankie?” Deb hung her head. Josh and his parents would be a breeze compared to telling Frankie. Deb already knew she didn’t want an abortion, she looked at the pamphlet they gave her at the clinic and knew she didn’t want that.

“Deb, you don’t have to tell her right now. You know that right?” Bea reached for Deb placing her hand on the young girls leg.

“I know but Aunt Bridget is going to know and you and mamma know. I just want her to know.”

“If that’s what you want sweetie.” Bea gave her leg a squeeze before getting up and heading in to get ready for the day. It was around 11am when Bea and Debbie left the house. The waiting room of the clinic was quiet and the wait wasn’t long.

Bridget welcomed them back with a warm smile. “Mornin’ ladies, what brings you in today?”

Debbie looked at her curiously, shouldn’t she already know? “Me Aunt Bridget. I was here last week.” Bridget just nodded.

“Okay. Deb why don’t you hop up on the table and lift your shirt. I’ll have to do an ultrasound just to confirm pregnancy and see how far along you are.” Bridget started the exam “Looks like they were right last week.” Bridget turned the screen so Bea and Debbie could see. She pointed to a blob in the middle of the screen. “Looks like the fetus is measuring at nine weeks.” Debbie squinted at the screen causing the older women to laugh. “Small, I know. Now we just have to listen to the heartbeat.”

Allie ran into the office she shared with Boomer in Sydney about twenty minutes later than she should have been there.

“Callie, I’m so sorry I’m late. You can follow me.” Allie smiled sheepishly at the young girl in front of her before leading her to her office.

“I’m sorry you had to come in just for me today. Ruby told me that I’m your only appointment.” Allie looked over the girl again once she sat down. It was obvious she had been crying; her eyes were bloodshot and swollen.

“It’s okay, Callie. Why don’t we get started? How’s your week been?” Allie sat in the chair across from her client, notepad on lap.

Allie was really not making good timing today meaning she was now having a bad day. She walked into the cafe they had agreed upon for lunch nearly forty-five minutes late. She quickly found Bea and Debbie wiping the tears from her eyes before heading over to them.

She leaned in giving Bea a quick kiss before smiling and quickly going in for a second, slightly less innocent kiss.

“You taste good” she mumbled against the redhead’s lips before whispering in her ear, “can’t wait to taste more later” earning her a throat clearing from Debbie and a very red face from her wife.

“I’m right here and you’re late mamma.” Debbie tried to scold the blonde but could help the smile on her face. “You look sad”

“I’m okay baby girl, just a rough morning. So what's on the menu? How was the doctor?”

“We both ordered sandwiches, told them you were coming though so they left a menu. Also Deb made a pretty big decision.” Bea gave Allie’s thigh a squeeze, a silent reassurance. She knew that whatever happened at her appointment clearly had an effect on her.

“Oh yeah? What would that decision be?” Allie looked at Deb for an answer when the waiter came over. She quickly ordered a salad before looking back to Deb.

“I don’t want an abortion.” She slid a small piece of paper across the table to Allie causing the blonde to smile when she looked at it. The mood had shifted so much in the last 24 hours.

“That is a big decision. Does this mean I’m gonna be a grandma?”

“I think I’m gonna go with adoption. Aunt Bridget was telling me about it. But I don’t know yet.” she shrugged her shoulders taking the ultrasound back. The three women talked and ate.

“Josh asked if I could go to the secret garden with him. Can I go then have him come over for dinner tonight?”

“I’m okay with that. I can drop you off on the way home. Think of something you want for dinner, yeah?” Bea looked to Allie who nodded at the idea.

“I might take a nap when we get home, I’m tired.”

“A nap does sound really nice right now. I might join ya.”

“Wait mum, you wanna take a nap. Do you feel okay?” Debbie felt Bea’s forehead like she was checking for a fever.

“Feeling just fine Deb. Someone took up my whole bed last night. Just like when she was a toddler, slept diagonally.” Bea stuck her tongue out at her daughter.

“She must get that from her mum because there’s been plenty nights when it felt like I had a toddler in my bed but it was actually a fully grown woman.” Allie arched an eyebrow towards her wife and daughter.

The three sat and talked for a little longer before paying their check and heading out. Allie and Bea parting ways at their respective cars. Bea dropped Debbie off with Josh before heading home. Entering the house she found it already quiet. Bea quietly made her way to the bedroom climbing into bed with an already sleeping Allie. Quickly falling asleep herself.

Chapter Text

Debbie and Josh wandered around the area of the garden before settling on a bench under a large tree.

“Josh, I have something to talk to you about.” Debbie looked around seeing how empty the area was and figured now would be the best time to tell him, just to get it out of the way. “It’s uh, kinda important”

“Oh, uhm okay. Are you gonna break up with me?” his blue eyes filled with worry.

“No, not breaking up with you.” She took a deep breath before continuing, opening her bag to look for something. “So ya know how I missed school today cause I wasn’t feeling well? Well uh, my mum took me to the doctor and well,” she wasn’t as nervous as she thought she’d be as she handed him the ultrasound “I’m pregnant.”

Josh sat silently looking at the paper in his hand before looking back to Debbie. “Is it, uh. Are you gonna keep it?”

“I’m not having an abortion. I don’t want to do that, but I’m not sure if I want to go with adoption or not.”

“Okay. Okay.” he stood up and faced away for a few seconds before kneeling in front of Debbie. “I'm gonna be here for you no matter what you choose. Okay? Your mums know?” Debbie just nodded

“Are they mad?”

“Mum was, she said she isn’t anymore but I know she’s still upset. I don’t know if mamma was mad because she was calm when I told her. They fought last night though, mamma thought I was sleeping but I heard them.” Debbie just shrugged, she was exhausted both physically and mentally. “I just want everyone that needs to know to know because I’m already tired of telling people and being afraid of how they’re going to react”

“Okay, I’ll tell my parents soon. You don’t have to be there” he placed a hand on her knee looking up at her again. “Does Frankie know? She’s gonna kill me.”

Debbie just laughed before leaning down and pulling him in for a kiss. “She doesn’t know. My mum is gonna tell her. But yeah, she’s probably gonna kill you.” Debbie laughed before kissing him again.

The young couple sat under the bench for a while longer talking about their plan for the coming weekend and what Debbie missed at school that day. They walked to a small park across the street to sit by the water until it was time for Vera to pick them up. Deb lay down with her head in Josh’s lap as he gently ran his fingers through her hair. The car ride was relatively quiet, the three of them just sharing small talk.

“Josh just text me when you’re ready to come
home. Love you. Love you too, Deb!” Vera smiled at the both of them before rolling up the window and driving off.

Josh and Debbie made their way into the house which was still silent. “My mums must still be sleeping. We can watch a movie on the couch. I just have to go to the bathroom first.” After coming out of the bathroom Debbie knocked on Bea and Allie’s closed bedroom door.

Allie popped her head up from between Bea’s legs at the interruption, Bea groaning in response. Before either of them could speak there was another knock. Bea got up quickly making her way to their en-suite while Allie pulled on a t-shirt and wiped Bea’s arousal off her chin before opening the door.

“Oh you’re up! I just wanted to let you know that I’m home. We’re gonna watch TV on the couch.” Deb gave Allie a once over, her hair was disheveled and her face was flush, she knew she interrupted something. “where’s mum?”

Almost as if on cue Bea walked out of the bathroom smiling at her daughter. “Right here Deb, what’s up?”

“Just wanted to let you know l’m home, sorry if I interrupted your sleep or whatever. We’re gonna watch a movie or something. Can we eat soon? I'm hungry.” Bea and Allie both blushed, Debbie couldn’t help but smile. As gross as it could be she couldn’t help teasing her moms

“When aren’t you hungry? I figured we could order take out so you two can pick something” Bea smiled at her daughter who nodded and walked away. As soon as Debbie walked away Allie pulled Bea into a kiss. Bea moaned tasting herself on Allie

“I’m not done with you” Allie mumbled against her wife’s lips before giving her a quick kiss and leaving the bedroom. Bea took a minute before following her. Debbie and Josh decided on pizza. Dinner was relatively quiet. The two older women listening to Debbie and Josh talk about weekend plans, they wanted to go to the movies and shopping. Allie was cleaning up the kitchen when Josh walked up to her.

“Hey Josh” Allie smiled at him as he started helping her pick up.

“Hi Mrs. Novak,”

“For the last time Josh, Allie. Please don’t call me Mrs. Novak.” Josh nodded in understanding

“Uh, Allie, I just wanted to let you know, Debbie told me.” Allie froze in place waiting for him to finish. “I’m gonna be there for her no matter what she chooses. And I’m not going to pressure her to choose something I’m going to let her decide. But I wanted to talk to one of you and your wife scares me. Debbie is gonna talk to her.”

Allie could help the laugh that escaped at the last part. “Yeah she’s good at intimidation but she’s not that bad. Thank you Josh. As long as you don’t ask her to get married any time soon I think we’ll be good.”

“Oh. No I don’t want to get married” he watched as Allie arched an eyebrow at him “not now at least. Maybe one day. Just wanted to let you know I’m not going to abandon her or the baby.” There was a short pause before he continued “you say Bea isn’t that bad but you’re married to her so I’d say you’re a little biased” He flashed her his signature smile, the one she remembers Debbie talking about after their first date. The two finished cleaning the kitchen before joining Bea and Debbie back in the living room.

The four of them sat talking and watching some TV show Debbie put on. “Oh before I forget I don’t mind taking you to the movies on Saturday but I’m going to Melbourne that afternoon with Frankie.”

“That means she’ll have to take ya early. I’ll be home though so I can drop ya or pick you up.” Allie offered the two younger ones nodding. About an hour after dinner Vera arrived to pick up Josh. Debbie walked him out saying goodnight to Vera and telling her that Allie was willing to do either drive on Saturday. She smiled as she watched them drive off and walked back into the house.

“Hey mum, you’d still support me even if I made a big mistake, yeah?” Josh’s voice wavered as he spoke. He knew his mom was an understanding person, sometimes too understanding.

“What? Of course, love. Nothing would ever make me not support you. Did something happen?”

“Debbie, she’s uh,” he let out a loud sigh before continuing “she’s pregnant.”

“Your Debbie? Do you know how far along she is?” Calm. Not the reaction Josh expected. What he also wasn’t expecting was for Vera to pull the car over “When did you start having sex? Actually,” she held a hand up “ don’t answer that question because I don’t want to know”

“Yes my Debbie. She’s uh, I think she said 9 weeks? Her mums know. I talked to Allie, mum. Make sure that she knows I'm gonna be there for Debbie no matter what.”

“Okay. We can talk about this more tomorrow, yeah? Are you okay?” Vera pulled back out on the road before continuing their drive “I’ll tell your dad if you want.”

“Okay.” Josh sniffled as his emotions suddenly took over. As soon as they were in the driveway Vera was at Josh’s side.

“It’s gonna be okay, Josh.” Vera held her son tight as he cried.

“I’m not ready to be a dad” After a few minutes he calmed himself and they both went inside. Josh heads straight to bed while Vera joins Jake on the couch.

“What’s wrong with him?” Jake looked back down the hall as his son shut his door. Vera took a deep breath releasing it before she spoke.

“Well, I reckon he’s in the same situation we were in when we were his age”

“Nuh, you’re kidding. With Bea and Allie’s kid?” Vera nodded “He sure it’s his?”

“What? I’m sure it’s his. Jake, this is already hard enough don’t make it worse please”

“I should go talk to him.”

“Leave him. I told him we’d talk tomorrow. Bea and Allie know so I think all of us should get together and talk in the next few weeks.” It was Jake’s turn to nod. He pulled Vera in close as she started to cry leaning into his shoulder. The two sat on the couch for a while longer before heading to bed.

Josh stared at his ceiling unsure of how he was feeling. He pulled out his phone and sent Debbie a quick goodnight text before rolling to face the wall.

“Hey sweetheart we’re gonna go to bed. Don’t stay up too late yeah? I want you in bed by eleven.” Allie said before giving Debbie a kiss on the head and making her way out of the living room.

“I’d prefer if you were in bed a bit earlier than that.” Bea kissed Deb on the head “Love you, sweetie”

“To the moon and back, mum” Deb stood pulling Bea in for a tight hug before she could walk away. “Love you, mum” Bea smiled, giving Debbie another kiss on the head before heading to her room.

As soon as Bea shut the bedroom door Allie’s lips were on hers. She opened her mouth as Allie slid her tongue along her bottom lip asking for permission to enter.

“Allie” Bea moaned as her wife's mouth moved from hers to begin peppering kisses along her jaw and neck. “Debbie is still awake.” She stopped at her pulse point gently nipping the skin before pulling the collar of the shirt away to a spot where she could leave a hidden mark.

“Guess you have to be quiet then. Think you can do that?” Allie tugged at the waist of Bca’s pants urging her wife to take them off, smiling when she got what she wanted. “I told you I wasn’t done with you” she quickly dropped to her knees lifting one of Bec’s legs over her shoulder and licking the length of her slit.

Bea stifled a moan as she felt Allie’s tongue exploring her folds before taking her clit into her mouth. Bea’s hands tangled into blonde hair as she tried to keep herself grounded and quiet. Allie slid two fingers into her wife causing a loud moan to escape and Bea could feel Allie smile against her.

“If you want me to keep going you’re going to have to quiet down.” Allie immediately took Bea’s clit between her lips again as she started a faster pace with her fingers.

“Fuck Allie,” Bea’s grip in Allie’s hair tightened as her orgasm overtook her body. Allie helped her ride out the high before being pulled up into a kiss.

“My turn” Bea mumbled against Allie’s lips before leading her towards the bed.

The rest of the was uneventful Bea and Allie working while Debbie went to school. Saturday morning came around and Bea was waiting for Frankie to pick her up.

“Deb, I need you to make sure your mamma behaves this weekend, yeah ?” Bea gave her a kiss on the top of her head while Debbie just laughed.

“Hey! I’m always on my best behavior!” Debbie and Bea just looked at each other before laughing. “You two are the worst, ya know that?” Allie was pretending to stomp away when the doorbell went off.

The three were always confused when Frankie insisted on ringing the doorbell when she almost always let herself in the house anyway.

“Alright Red, say goodbye to your wife and kid! Tell them you’ve run off with a hot brunette!” Frankie bellowed as she walked in.

“I’m telling Aunt Bridget you stole my mum!” Debbie ran up to Frankie and wrapped her in a tight hug.

“Oh you know I’d give her back. Only person who can tame her is Blondie over there.”

“Enough of that, yeah? You’re late.” Bea scolded Frankie as she grabbed her bag. “Deb you behave and be home by curfew tonight.”

“I’m always home on time mum.” Debbie wrapped her arms around Bea “love you”

“To the moon and back kiddo.” Bea let Debbie go from the hug. No matter how old she got or how far Harry was from their lives she hated leaving Debbie.

“Alright say goodbye to Blondie, as you so graciously pointed out we’re already late.” Bea rolled her eyes as she walked up to her wife.

“I love you. I’ll text you when we land and call you tonight.”

“I love you too, baby.” Allie pulled Bea in for a kiss, quickly swiping her tongue across Bea’s bottom lip before pulling away.

“You two are gross”

“Seriously, get a room. Actually don’t because we gotta go” Frankie motioned towards the door. The two left and Allie and Debbie went about their morning. Both eventually getting ready and leaving to pick up Josh.

“Deb, don't forget curfew is 11 but don’t tell mum. Josh please tell your mum thank you for doing the pick up”

“No problem, Allie.”

“You two behave and I’ll see you later” Allie smiled and waved at the young couple before driving off.

“My parents aren’t home, if you want to go watch a movie at my house.” Josh gave Debbie a big smile. “We can take the bus, you know it’s like twenty minutes”

“They won’t be home until later? I don’t want to get in trouble. My mums are already on me.” Debbie wrapped her arms around Josh and smiled up at him.

“Nuh dad’s at work and mum is out with some friends. Shouldn’t be home until later.”

“Okay. Just as long as we’re gone before anyone gets home.” They walked towards the bus stop hand in hand.

Chapter Text

Frankie and Bea landed in Melbourne around eleven grabbing a quick bite before making their way to the hotel.

“Frankie, when you get settled can you come to my room? I have something I need to talk to you about.”

“If it’s that you want me I already know.” Frankie winked at her before going into her room.

Bea was sitting on her bed drawing when there was a knock on her door. “Red let me in so we can start our affair!”

Bea rolled her eyes before getting up to let Frankie in.
“Ya know, one day someone is gonna hear that, believe it, and tell our wives.”

“Yeah yeah, like either of them would believe it! Blondie has you wrapped around her finger.”

“Yeah and Bridget has you so whipped when she tells you to jump you ask how high.”

“Oi, I’m not whipped!” she gently shoved Bea before sitting on the bed. “What’s so important you couldn’t wait to tell me?”

“First I need you to promise me you won’t freak out.”

“Don’t tell me you and Allie are splitting up. Or Harry is out”

“No, Allie and I are fine. And as far as I’m aware Harry is still at Walford where he will remain.”

“Alright then, what is it? Spill”

“It’s about Deb.” Bea took a deep breath looking up to stop the tears from spilling out.

“Is she sick?” Frankie watched as Bea shook her head.

“She’s uh, she’s pregnant”

“Get fucked. You’re playing me right now.” Frankie looked around the room for Bea’s phone or a camera.

“Wish I was, Frankie.” Bea sighed, plopping down next to her friend who almost immediately stood up.

“I’ll fucking kill that boyfriend of hers. I’ll get around to her when she’s not pregnant anymore. What the fuck.” Frankie was pacing the room now, clenching and unclenching her fists. “I swear when I see that boy it’s over for him. Don’t care who his parents are, he's done.”

“Yeah I felt the same way when she first told me. Got up from dinner and had to go for a run, didn’t make it very far before I sat down to cry. She’s about ten weeks along too. I imagine when she told me she felt like I did when I was about to tell you”

“Fuck, Bea. What’s she gonna do? What are you gonna do?”

“Dunno, said she doesn’t want an abortion. I think she knew that before she told us. She had already gone to the clinic. I guess I’m just gonna support her and help her when she needs it”

“Gidge’s clinic?” Bea nodded “Gidge didn’t say anything about even seeing Deb, or you for that fact. Fuck. How are you?”

“Not great Frankie. My sixteen year old is pregnant. She told Allie first. Feel like I failed as a parent, she’s been having really bad morning sickness which will hopefully be over soon, I just feel like everything is falling apart. It took so long to rebuild my life after Harry and I thought I was doing good but, huh, guess not.”

“Woah Bea, you didn’t fail Debbie. You’re there for her yeah? Letting her make her own decision on this but supporting her no matter what. You’re a good mum, Bea. I however am the aunt that is going to freak out and yell at them both. Can't leave the little bub without parents now can I?” Bea shook her head wiping her tears away with a small laugh “Why did she make you tell me?”

“Probably because she’s seen you mad”

“Fair enough. But enough of this stuff that’s making me sad and mad. We don’t have to be anywhere until one tomorrow so let’s go find a bar, get so drunk we forget who we are, yeah?”

“I need to shower first but yeah a drink sounds nice. Oh please don’t call me Bea, it’s weird.” Frankie was standing at the door laughing

“Yeah it does, won’t ever happen again” she left and headed towards her own room. Bea jumped in the shower let her emotions take over as she felt the hot water run over her body.

Allie had just gotten home from dropping the kids off and running some errands. She checked her phone and saw Bea had text her that they landed and were safe at the hotel. She started getting lunch ready when the doorbell rang.

“Bubba!” Kaz pulled Allie into a tight hug.

“Ugh Kaz I missed you.”

“Same kiddo. I know you’re super busy with your own practice and raising a kid but we have to get together more often.” Both women made their way to the kitchen, Allie finishing up before joining Kaz at the table.

“So where’s the wife and her clone?”

“Bea is in Melbourne for her annual ‘girls trip’ with Frankie and Debbie is out with Josh, she’ll be home later.” Allie took a bite of her food as Kaz gave her a questioning look “What?”

“You aren’t worried about the two of them?”

“Who, Frankie and Bea? They’re like sisters”

“Not them. Debbie and her boyfriend. Don’t think they’ll try to take advantage of you?” Allie couldn’t help but laugh.

“No. I don’t think Deb would do that. She knows Bea would have her head. Plus,” Allie took a deep breath trying to keep her emotions in check nodding her head towards the fridge “too late for me to be worried” Kaz looked to where Allie motioned.

“Is that an ultrasound? I thought you and Bea decided not to have a baby after-“

“Not one of us. Deb,” Allie felt a few tears escape “she’s about ten weeks.”

“Wait Deb, and you’re okay with it?”

“Far from okay with it, Kaz. But it is what it is. I can’t change anything.”

“Is she keeping it?” Kaz was standing at the fridge looking at the ultrasound “I can help her find a family.”

“She’s said she doesn’t want an abortion.I’m pretty sure she knew that long before she told us. She was so scared to tell us, especially Bea. But we talked, whatever she wants to do is up to her. We’ll support her but we won’t make a decision for her.”

A silence fell over the room as Kaz wrapped Allie in a tight hug. They stood there like that for a few moments until Allie broke away making her way back to the table.

“I know it happens all the time but I feel like this is some kind of punishment from the universe.” Allie let out a small laugh. “Like I fucked up so bad in my past that now I’m getting to pay for it. Like the universe is showing me how unfair it really is. Bea and I tried so hard to get pregnant and when we finally did, well you know how that ended. We almost got divorced and it would have been my fault. Now Deb is pregnant and she didn’t even have to try.”

“Allie, none of this is your fault. You couldn’t have prevented it. As for your past, you did what you needed to do to survive.” Allie scoffed

“I was barely alive when you found me.”

“But you were alive Bubba. After a lot of fighting you finally let me help you. Look at you now, happily married, a beautiful house, your own practice, despite this you are raising an amazing kid. You did good for yourself, you’re going to continue doing good. Do you blame Bea for not being able to get pregnant?”

“Of course not, it’s not her fault.”

“So why do you blame yourself for losing the baby?” Kaz pulled Allie close to her again as the younger blonde sobbed.

“Drugs, Kaz. It was my fault. Now Debbie is pregnant and it’s not fair. I wanted a baby with Bea so bad and I couldn’t give her one and it almost destroyed us.”

“You know Bea doesn’t and never has blamed you, right?”

“Well she should. She should blame me for this too.”

“Why don’t we go sit on the couch, put something funny on, and we can just talk? You can cry if you want. But these chairs are uncomfortable” Allie just nodded, getting up and following Kaz to the living room.

Kaz put on a rom-com hoping to cheer Allie up but she just continued to cry until she made herself sick.

Debbie woke up to her phone buzzing. She quickly glanced at it, not able to answer it in time. She picked it up seeing she has 15 missed calls from Allie and Vera as well as texts from them both.

“Josh, wake up” she shook him until he woke up throwing the blanket off herself jumping up and pulling her pants on. “Both our mums have called and text me asking where we are. Here.” she handed him his phone as hers started to ring again.

“Hey mamma.” Josh could hear Allie on the other end but couldn’t fully make out what she was saying. “No, we just decided to see a later movie!” Josh was on his phone reading the texts from Vera. “Mamma no, you don’t have to do that.”

“They know we’re here” Josh mouthed to Debbie before showing her his phone. Debbie closed her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose taking a deep breath before she hung up the phone.

“We have to go downstairs.”

The young couple walked into the dining room to find Vera and Allie sitting at the table waiting for them. Debbie could see the disappointment on Allie’s face. After a short conversation between the four of them Allie and Debbie left heading home.

“I hope you know you’re grounded.” Allie said as soon as they started to pull away. “ One week, school and home, that's it. No one is coming over either.”

“Mamma, that's not fair! We didn’t do anything!”

“Don’t start Deb. You didn’t do anything? You were supposed to go to the movies but snuck to Josh’s house instead. Ya know if you wanted to hang out at a house, we have one of those.”

“Yeah but you were home!”

“So you went there knowing Vera and Jake weren’t home?” Allie hated being the tough parent. Part of her always felt like she didn’t deserve to be because she wasn’t in Debbie’s life from the beginning.

“You can’t ground me! I’ll tell mum!” Allie couldn’t help but laugh

“You think mum is gonna take your side in you sneaking off to your boyfriend’s while no one is home? I can ground you Deb, I’m your mother too. Also, if you tell mum now you’ll ruin her weekend and I’ll add a week on.”

“You didn’t tell mum?” Debbie looked over at Allie almost in shock. Allie shook her head quickly glancing at Debbie. “It’s still not fair.” Debbie mumbled before the car fell silent.

It was nearing midnight when Allie’s phone started to ring. She couldn’t help but smile when she saw Bea was facetiming her. Her smile fell immediately when she answered and saw Frankie there instead.

“Don’t be mad at her, okay?” Frankie was clearly in a hotel room, probably Bea’s, and Allie could see the glazed over drunk look in her eyes.

“ALLIE BEAUTIFUL GIRL IS THAT YOU?” Allie just arched an eyebrow at Frankie as she heard Bea yelling.

“Don’t be mad, Blondie.”

“Okay I won’t be mad but can I talk to my wife?” Frankie didn’t say anything, just smiled and handed the phone over to Bea who was in bed.

“Hi Allie,” Bea was drunk. Allie had never seen her this drunk before since she could usually handle her liquor. Though since Allie had gone completely sober, Bea had also stopped drinking. “my beautiful wife. Hi.”

True to her word, Allie didn’t get mad. “Hi baby. You a little drunk?” Bea just laughed and Allie couldn’t help but laugh too.

“mhm. I miss you wanna come home.”

“I miss you too but, I think you should stay with Frankie. You’ll be upset if you don’t.”

“You you’re right.” She was dosing off and Allie knew it wouldn’t be long before she was asleep. “love you my beautiful girl”

“I love you too babe” Allie got herself situated in bed as Bea fell asleep. Allie found herself drifting off after a few minutes. Before she fell asleep she couldn’t help but think how this was like when they first started dating, sleeping on facetime because they missed each other.
