Rantaro wondered the halls of Hope's Peak, after he had finished his part time job at a small kindergarten.
He stopped when he saw a tall female in a dark navy lolita dress and a dull red ribbon, sticking a needle in and out of a doll with black yarn hair and looked to be designed with red lipstick. She had long jet black hair that was curled at the ends, and a mask matching the color of her dress.
"U-Uhm hey, isn't it lunch time?" Rantaro asked as calmly as he could.
The girl stayed silent, she looked up at Rantaro, then back to her doll.
Rantaro looked around. "Aren't you hungry? It's kind of odd to be alone..."
For what seemed like hours, when was actually 5 minutes, she spoke.
"People stare at me."
"I wish to eat in the dining hall, but they stare at me."
"Well, maybe it's because they don't know you!" He shrugged
She looked at Rantaro "You don't know me."
"O-Oh! Right, Rantaro Amami, Ultimate Child Caregiver!" "My name is Kiyo Shinguji... I am called the Ultimate Doll Maker..." She, Kiyo, responded.
Well her talent explained the doll.
"So uh, what'cha doin' with the doll?" Rantaro asked, obviously she was stabbing it like Wednesday Addams but there had to be a reason why.
"Sister deserves it."
"What-" Rantaro was cut off by Kiyo talking again.
"Sister deserves it."
Another awkward silence. Rantaro was tapping his foot and playing with his hair.
"Hey, you said you don't want people staring at you, right?" Rantaro asked, to which Kiyo nodded. "As pretty as humans are, they scare me a lot..." She explained, finally putting a stop to her mini doll massacre. Kiyo held the doll close to her chest, but not touching her.
"I can get us some food and we can eat in the courtyard! Everyone in class pretty much knows a lot about me so they're chill." Rantaro chuckled, looking back and seeing Kiyo looking amazed at his confidence. "Can you meet me at one of the courtyard benches?" He asked, to which the ravenette nodded. "Mk, what do you want?" Kiyo looked embarrassed as Rantaro asked her. "J-Just some rice and Taco... If it's ok..." The green haired boy just gave a reassuring smile and nodded.
"Aight, I'll see you there!"
Rantaro walked into the dining hall, where he was immediately greeted by Kokichi tackling him.
"Ran-Nii-Chan!!~" The purple haired actor cackled, ruffling Rantaro's already messy hair.
"Kokichi don't mess up his hair!" Shuichi tried to control his elementary schooler of a boyfriend.
Rantaro chuckled at the two. "Don't worry, Shuichi, my hair's already a mess every day." Kokichi and Shuichi were an odd couple, a pastel goth and an absolute clown somehow became a thing. He sighed and headed to Kirumi, who smiled at him.
"Good Afternoon, Amami. What is it you'd like?" She asked, polite as she usually is.
"Hey, I'm getting something for a friend too if it's fine.
"Is it the Doll Maker? I've wanted to ask if she wanted anything but she didn't talk." Kirumi sighed.
"Yeah, this is probably her first time at a big school with a ton of people, I think it's overwhelming for her." Rantaro shrugged, telling Kirumi the orders and watched as she went into the kitchen. Kirumi helps out at the cafeteria by serving food. Baking's her specialty so she things she makes revolve around that because the girl doesn't even know how long to microwave something.
A few minutes and Kirumi hands him two trays of food. "Tell her I said hello and that I'd love to meet her, if it's alright." Rantaro nodded and started to walk out.
Rantaro looked outside at the courtyard, finally seeing Kiyo sitting at a bench table painting something. He walked over to her and set down their food. Turns out Kiyo was painting a porcelain doll.
"I apologize for the mess..." Kiyo said softly, putting up her equipment and softly putting the doll in a protective box.
"It's all good! The doll looked really pretty!" Rantaro gave a reassuring smile as Kiyo grabbed a fork for her meal.
"Th-thank you..." She blushed.
"One of the students wanted me to say hi for her. She wanted to get you something but you didn't talk. I can understand though, it's overwhelming, huh?"
Kiyo nodded as she ate. "I've never been to such a big town... Or school... And I tend to freak out in big crowds..."
Rantaro nodded, looking at more features of the girl.
She had soft pink cheeks which went with her soft porcelain skin tone, she had red eyeshadow at the bottom of her eyes, and little freckles adorned her face all over.
She was... Adorable...
"A-Amami..." Kiyo was confused.
"S-Sorry! Sorry it's just that you look really pretty, Kiyo."
"I-I do??" Kiyo asked, genuinely shocked. To which he nodded "Mhm, I'm not lying, you look like a doll yourself, really..." The comment made Kiyo's cheeks go from a soft pink to bright red.
"I-I- Th-Thank-" Kiyo was too flustered to say anything, she never had a complement really, so she felt really nice.
Rantaro smiled. "I'm glad you're warming up to me, I'd love to learn more about you."
Kiyo looked around "W-Well i-if you don't have a-anything else to do... W-would you like... To paint dolls with me later?" Rantaro nodded "I'd would be honored to paint dolls with you."
