When Will My Life Begin?

Chapter Text

This is the story of a boy named Eddie.

It starts with the sun.

Once upon a time, a single drop of sunlight fell from the heavens and from that small drop of sun grew a magic, golden flower. It had the ability to heal the sick and injured.

A haggardly woman by the name of Sonia found the flower and hoarded it’s magic to herself. She used the flower to keep herself young for hundreds of years for all that it needed to be activated was a simple song.

let your power shine

take back what once was mine

what once was mine

Centuries passed and a kingdom was built, run by a beautiful King and Queen. The royals were kind and loved by all of the civilians. The townspeople were overjoyed when they found out that the Queen was about to have a baby.

Until she got sick.

Really sick.

And she was running out of time.

The people began searching for a miracle. Or in this case, a golden flower. No one could be sure that the legend existed as Sonia had kept it hidden from all others but nonetheless, they scavenged the land for it. It must have been pure luck that drove the scouts to the grove in which Sonia held the flower. It also must have been pure luck that that very day Sonia had done a half-baked job at hiding it. The kingdom had found it.

The fed the Queen a soup made from the petals and the magic successfully healed her. She went on to have a healthy baby boy with beautiful blonde hair and to celebrate his birth, the King and Queen launched a flying lantern into the sky. For than one moment, everything was perfect.

And then that moment ended.

Sonia, outraged that she no longer had the healing magic to keep her young, broke into the castle while the royals were sleeping. Upon seeing the young baby in the crib, she sang the hymn that she had grown accustomed to for all these years.

Her eyes lit up as she noticed the boys hair begin to glow. Although the flower was gone, the baby had inherited it’s healing abilities. Greedily, she tried to snip off a strand of the hair to keep for herself. But when the lock was split it grew brown in color and lost its ability, leaving a short dead strand where it once was. Obviously cutting the hair didn’t work so Sonia moved to plan b.

She kidnapped the prince.

The kingdom searched and searched for the lost prince but they could not find him.

Deep in the forest in a hidden tower, Sonia raised the child as her own. She invoked within him a fear of the outside world in an effort to make sure he never left. The magic had caused Eddie’s hair grew to absurd length but Sonia never allowed him to cut it, for she needed the magic to stay young. She had found a new magic flower and this time she was determined to keep it hidden.

But the walls of that castle could not hide everything, Each year on his birthday, the King and Queen released thousands of lanterns into the sky in the hope that one day their lost Prince would return.
