I think one runner up for one of the best days of my life was when Mr. Aizawa, one of my teachers, and the pro hero All Might came to my house to suggest the idea of dorms to my grandparents, who I lived with.
My parents were both out of the picture, so I lived with my grandparents and one of my older cousins.
Douku was out of school and had a job, but he's had a hard time finding a place to live, so he just settled for living with our grandparents.
He was a guy who never grew out of his punk phase. Was it still considered a phase if you never grow out of it? He was covered head to toe in tattoos, literally. He had tattoos behind his ears and one on the back of his head. Piercings were big for him, too. Three nose piercings, multiple ear piercings, two eyebrow piercings, a lip piercing, a tongue piercing, and nipple piercings.
I sort of had the same style. I had six piercings across both ears, and my nipples pierced, though I didn't tell anyone about that. I had four tattoos so far, but I kept them covered pretty well.
So when Mr. Aizawa and All Might came to the house while I was in a short-sleeved top with shorts on, and they could see three of my four tattoos, I think they were a little more than surprised.
They sat my grandparents, me, and Douku down to talk about moving the students into dorms, given all the recent attacks and Bakugou's kidnapping.
I basically only asked them when I could move in, and if my cousin could help me move all my shit.
So, when the day came around a week later, I was dressed casually in all black, and so was Douku, and my classmates were giving us a lot of looks as we moved bags and boxes into my new dorm. He unpacked all of my books and shit as I took care of my clothes and makeup, and I played music as we worked.
When all was said and done, I stood outside with him as he smoked a cigarette, and we were still getting looks from the other students here moving their stuff in.
"Anyone gives you trouble, you just give me their name and a description, okay?" He hummed.
"Yeah? And what exactly are you going to do?" I rolled my eyes at him.
"Fucking beat the pieces of shit to a pulp." He said without a second thought.
"You are just begging to get arrested, aren't you?" I sighed as he chuckled.
Douku checked his phone and sighed, then handed me the last half of his cigarette. "Wanna finish that off for me before I go to work?"
"No," I said and he shrugged, took the last drag, then dropped it to the ground and stepped on it.
"I'll see you, kid. Stay safe." He said, tucking his phone back in his pocket.
"Yeah, wish I could say the same to you," I said in a bored tone as he threw me a grin, and went on his way as I went back inside and headed to my room.
"Hey, Kaede, who was that guy you were with?" Kaminari asked, and a group of people from my class looked over at me.
"No one," I said without looking at him and went to my room, closing and locking the door behind me. I sighed, relishing in the sudden silence, and a small smile made its way to my face.
At home, things were never this quiet. Grandma and grandpa always got in fights, or Douku was always arguing with one of them. I rarely ever yelled, and I had gotten good at ignoring them over the years. I have been living with them since I was six, after all.
As I expected, the silence grew too uncomfortable for me, as I was just used to the noise, so I put on some music for background noise. Now I could relax.
A few hours later, there was a knock at my door, and it was Kirishima inviting me to dinner with everyone to celebrate our first night in our own dorms. I put my book down, turned the music off, and stepped out, going to the dining hall and getting some dinner and joined everyone from my class at some tables they had pushed together.
I mostly kept to myself in school, though some people were trying to be my friends. It's not that I didn't like them or anything, I did. I was just... sort of reluctant to form relationships with people.
So, while eating, I opened a book on my phone and started to read that. I wasn't paying attention until I heard my name.
"Uh... Kaede, I guess." Kirishima said, and I looked up.
"What?" I asked.
"I asked who he thought the prettiest girl in class was." Mina smiled widely as he blushed.
"Oh. Thanks." I hummed and went back to reading, not really caring.
"So, Kaede. Who do you think is the most attractive in class?" Mina came to my side.
"Are we talking cute or hot? Boy or girl?" I asked, still looking at my phone.
"All!" She giggled.
"Well, for a cute girl, probably Toru. Hot girl, Momo. Cute boy, Deku. Come on, he looks like he's four years old. And hot boy... uh, Todoroki, I guess." I shrugged.
"You think I'm cute, Kaede?" The invisible girl squeaked.
"Yep," I just answered, still not looking up to see the kinds of looks I was getting.
"You can't even see her!" Kirishima exclaimed.
"I'm not judging on just appearance," I shrugged.
"So what makes you think Todoroki is hot?" Mina asked, sounding interested from next to me.
"His quirk," I smirked at my own little joke. "Well, half of it, at least."
"Be serious!" She whined.
"Fine," I shrugged and finally looked up, just now noticing I had everyone's attention somehow. "He's got that mysterious brooding thing going on, which I know quite a few people find attractive."
"Oh, so you're not judging what you particularly find attractive, but what a majority of the population finds cute or hot," Mina said, then facepalmed. "I meant for you to answer personally!"
"Well, then I'd have to say myself and myself." I shrugged and looked back at my phone, not giving a single flying fuck.
