The Bachelorette Season 1 (Rose)

Chapter Text

1. Always be respectful. I dealt with people on the last season who were extremely disrespectful of me, whether it be saying my fic wasn't good because of the ships I chose or telling me to kill myself because I'm autistic. So just don't be a shit, okay?

2. The winner is determined by voting.

3. You can vote for more than one person.

4. You can vote multiple times, however each vote has to be in a separate comment.

5. If you just say someone's name or simply state "I vote for *insert person here", the vote will not count. You must provide some kind of commentary with it. Here are some examples of how you can do that:

Some people like to do character analyses, so you can do that and just divide it up into parts and either begin or end each part/comment with your vote(s)

You can state your reason for voting for a specific person or person(s). Such as on the last season, there were a lot of votes that were "I vote for Yoongi because I like their dynamic". Or it can be something like "I vote for Yixing because I think he's sweet". It can just be something really simple.

Or you can provide commentary on the fic/my writing in general. "I really like *insert part of chapter here*. I vote for *insert person here*." or "This chapter really explained a lot of things. I vote for *insert person(s) here*."

6. Voting opens the second I post this chapter. Now, I understand it's difficult for you to follow the previous rule given there isn't much to go on besides the last half of the After the Final Rose chapter in the previous season. So when voting for now, just comment your thoughts on Rose as the bachelorette or the presence of certain contestants. As the introduction chapters come and the story really begins, that's when rule number five will really come into play.

7. If your comment is disrespectful, your vote will not count. If all or nearly all of your comments are disrespectful or focused around complaining about petty aspects of this fic (the ships, the contestants, backgrounds, etc.), I do reserve the right to not let any of your votes count at all. There is someone from the previous season that this was the case, and they even commented under multiple usernames to make it seem like it was more than one person. I can recognize their tone, and I remember most of the usernames used. Their votes still will not count in this season, and any future seasons, because of the disrespect they showed me. That's how seriously I take respect.

8. None of the backgrounds or characterizations reflect how I actually feel about any of these idols or celebrities in real life. There always has to be a 'villain' type, so some people are going to reflect that, but that does not mean I actually dislike them or feel that they are actually this way.

9. Ships were chosen based off of me googling "blackpink rose ships" and choosing the 15 most common guys that I came across and the first 12 (excluding the other blackpink members) girls I saw because for some reason it was really hard to find girls that are shipped with her. This is why certain previous contestants have returned for this season despite how invested they may have been in Jimin. I have already developed their backgrounds to somewhat explain why they would come out on this show again though. You can express a distaste for these contestants as long as you do it in a respectful way and nonpetty way.

10. I'm stealing something else from the current in real life season of The Bachelorette. Someone will be sent home during the first cocktail party prior to the ceremony. So you'll definitely want to start racking up votes for your favorites so that they won't be the first ones sent home.

11. Enjoy! Although voting can get intense, especially when we get down to the final four and beyond that, but this is still supposed to be light and fun, so please remember that as you are voting.

12. Extra: I love seeing my readers interacting with each other and having debates, and I also like to jump in sometimes to provide extra insight as the author.

Let the voting begin!!

Chapter Text

“I’m Bang Sihyuk, and I’d like to welcome you to the beginning of our very first season of The Bachelorette.” The episode starts off with Sihyuk standing outside the mansion, talking to the camera. “After we realized the success of The Bachelor, the producers and I got together to prepare for another season, but this time we wanted a girl to get the chance to find the one for her. We spent weeks discussing who would be the perfect choice before finally coming to our decision: Rose.”

“Rose was perfect. She was mature, kind, caring, set on love and nothing else, so it became apparent that she is the obvious choice as our Bachelorette. And you’re about to see her two-month journey begin tonight. But first, let’s take a look at where it truly started three months ago.”

~*~

Rose enters the room where Sihyuk and a cameraman are waiting with a bright smile. “Hey, how are you?” She greets the host with a hug.

“I’m great, how are you?”

“I’m good!” She sits down in the seat across from him. “So, you said you wanted me to come in for some kind of post-show interview?”

Sihyuk nods slightly. “Yeah, kind of…As I’m sure you’re aware, the ratings for this first season have gone through the roof, so we have gone ahead and decided to continue on with a second season.” Rose nods, signally that she is listening. “And we’ve decided for next season we want to have a girl frontrunner, have a Bachelorette as opposed to a Bachelor.”

“Oh, that sounds cool!” Rose responds.

“And we’re wanting to ask a contestant from this season to see if they’re willing.”

Rose nods with a smile. “So, are you wanting my opinion on who it should be? I could definitely see Sana or Jeongyeon. Sana’s really sweet and deserves to find happiness after what her parents put her and Jimin through, and Jeongyeon has a really good head on her shoulders, so she would definitely be good in that kind of position.”

Sihyuk smiles at Rose and chuckles a bit. “We were actually wanting to ask you to be our first Bachelorette.”

Rose’s eyes widen and her jaw drops in shock. “Me? You want me?”

“Yes, we want you.”

Rose starts tearing up slightly, still looking at Sihyuk in shock. “Why? I’m not that interesting!”

“I beg to differ~” Sihyuk argues. “The way you handled the breakup with Jimin was a level of maturity that not a lot of people have, and it’s a level that the Bachelorette would need to have. You’re also very honest and caring, but you’re not afraid to stand up for someone or call people out even if they’re your friend the way you did with Camila when she was talking about Sana. And you sincerely want to find someone to love you for you and who you also love. So, Rose, will you please be our first Bachelorette?”

“Oh my god~” Rose says quietly, running her hands through her hair as she tries to compose herself. “Yes! I will!” She hugs Sihyuk once again. “I can’t believe I’m the Bachelorette!”

~*~

Rose holds her phone out, speakerphone turned on as it rings. “Hello?

“Hi, Mommy!” Rose greets. “I just wanted to call you to tell you that I’m the Bachelorette!”

“…what?” Rose explains what she means by being the Bachelorette. “If this is what you really want and you feel like you’re ready for something like this so soon, then I’m happy for you! I hope everything works out for you!

~*~

Rose

*laughs awkwardly* I literally have no idea what to say right now. *chuckles again* Just that I’m the Bachelorette! *smiles while giggling*

~*~

Videos of Rose doing her thing, such as busking, walking around the streets of Seoul, doing some work at her part time job at a bookstore, and working on some music at her apartment play with a voiceover accompanying them.

~*~

A part of me is still greatly confused as to why I was chosen, because I feel like some of the girls from last season are much better choices for this. But I am very thankful for the opportunity because I do really want to find love, I want to find the one for me, and I very well could through this experience.

~*~

Sihyuk and Rose are at the bookstore, talking to her manager and one of her coworkers. “We’re definitely rooting for her.” Her manager says. “We had watch parties during The Bachelor and we all through our food at the TV when she got sent home.”

Rose laughs at her boss’ statement, even though he didn’t look like he was joking at all. “I don’t know how you’re gonna do it.” Rose’s coworker says. “I can’t even imagine being in one room with 30 attractive men and women, let alone dating them!”

“Trust me, I don’t know how I’m gonna do it either.” Rose says, giving her coworker a small hug.

~*~

I’ve always been fairly confident in who I am as a person. Like, my shock over being chosen as the Bachelorette has nothing to do with being insecure or anything. I’m more of like “I love who I am, I don’t have anything I’d want to change about myself, but I also don’t see what about me would be intriguing to other people.” And because I kind of always had that thought that other people don’t find me quite as interesting as I find myself, I never bothered with actively trying to find that special person until Jimin.

~*~

The next girl steps out with a guitar, singing a slow version of Serendipity. Once she’s done with her mini performance, Jimin applauds her. “My name’s Rose, and hopefully that gives you a hint for who you should pick.”

~*~

Jimin was the first person that I actually put myself out there for rather than waiting for someone else to show interest and ask me out and was also the first person that I could legitimately see potential with.

~*~

Jimin sees that Rose has strategically placed her guitar in the area she has led him to. “So, I remember you saying in an interview that you would like to learn how to play the guitar, so I thought that I could maybe teach you a few chords.”

“That would be so fun!”

After some more conversation, including Rose occasionally dropping comments about how much she likes him, and hinting at bringing him home to meet her family, Jimin lets out a small sigh. “You are an amazing person, and I have genuinely enjoyed every moment that we have spent together.” Rose smiles brightly, but that quickly drops at Jimin’s next word. “But…” Rose watches Jimin he continues speaking, “I didn’t feel that enjoyment in the way one would enjoy time with a romantic partner.” Rose bites her lip slightly, obviously holding back some emotion. “I think you’re great and I know you’ll find someone who sincerely loves you, but that person is not me. And I’m really sorry, because I wish it could be.”

Rose lets out a quiet chuckle, using that to cover up the tears trying to come out. “I appreciate your honesty, and I wish it could be too. But you don’t need to feel sorry, because you shouldn’t feel guilty over not having romantic feelings for me, it’s not like you can control that.”
~*~

It ended up not working out with Jimin, and that did hurt initially, but now I just feel grateful. I feel like my experience on the Bachelor made me even more confident and made me more open to the idea of being the one to initiate a relationship, so I am very thankful for that, and I definitely don’t regret my decision to go on the show in the first place, especially since it led me to this opportunity. My goal for this is to find someone who won’t love me despite any flaws or quirks I have, but to love me because of them. Because I am very unique in a way that can be hard for some people to handle or stand. So, if there’s even just one person who can stand by me through all my eccentricities and genuinely love them and me, then they are definitely the one for me.

~*~

Rose dances around her room as she gets ready for the first night.

~*~

I can’t wait to get this thing started!

~*~

Rose walks out of her bedroom to show off her dress for the night to her special guests.

“You look gorgeous!” Sana gushes as Rose does a twirl for her and Jeongyeon.

~*~

I invited Sana and Jeongyeon to come out for a couple of days to help me kind of prepare for tonight. Like, help keep my mental state good and keep me from completely freaking out. The three of us stayed pretty close after the whole thing was over, and I am really glad to have them around.

~*~

The three young women pour some glasses of champagne, Jeongyeon leading them in a toast for the night. “To Rose, giving her strength as she embarks on what will probably be one of the most difficult experiences in her life. You make those men and women work hard.” Jeongyeon gives her a pointed look as they clink their glasses together and take a sip.

~*~

Tonight could either go amazing or it could be a complete trainwreck. Either way I am excited to meet 30 different people, including who could very possibly my partner for life.

~*~

“You make everyone around you feel good.” Jeongyeon tells Rose as they lounge on the couch, waiting for the time when Rose will have to leave for the mansion. “Like, even though you kind of made a negative statement about yourself to the rest of us that first night when you interrupted Jennie, the second you came back, none of us could even consider disliking you because you went straight up to her and apologized, then you made your way around the room and talked to every single person even if it was only for a few seconds, just wanting to make sure none of use were getting to anxious or upset over not getting to speak to Jimin yet. You were just great.”

Rose blushes slightly. “I try my best~”

“No one deserves this more than you do.” Sana says. “But I’m not gonna lie, your confidence can be a little intimidating, but you can definitely work it. Use that to weed out the people who aren’t worth your time.” Rose giggles. “If they can’t handle you loving yourself, then kick them out the door.”

~*~

Sana and Jeongyeon definitely made sure I was ready to meet everyone, and honestly, I’m just itching to get started. See if I can pick out my future boyfriend or girlfriend the second I lay eyes on them!

Chapter Text

Song Minho, 27
Film Editor
Giheung-gu, Yongin-si

The male holds a camera out as he films himself, his family, and his friends. “What’s up, everyone? Minho here on the day before I leave for The Bachelorette, and my family and friends have decided to throw me a surprise farewell party!”

I’m not gonna lie, when The Bachelor was first announced, I thought it was the dumbest idea for a show ever. I didn’t understand how anyone could enjoy going through this, or why anyone would find it interesting to watch. But then a friend of mine dragged me into watching it with them because they are a huge fan of Jimin, and I got hooked on it the second Rose stepped out of that limo. She is so intriguing, and I can’t wait to meet her and get to know her.

~*~

Kim Taehyung, 25
Freelance Photographer
Geochang

Taehyung is cuddling Yeontan to his chest, the dog whining as he knows his owner is about to leave him. “I know, I’m gonna miss you too! I’ll be back before you know it!”

I know a lot of people are gonna be surprised to see me back for many reasons, and some people might even be angry or upset, and that is okay. They have every right to feel that way, but I’m not doing this for them, I’m doing it for me. I did love Jimin a lot and my heart was broken when I got eliminated after hometowns, but I’m not the same person that people saw at the Tell All. I was given the closure I needed during that moment where I got to talk to Jimin and while there may be some lingering feelings for him, I am quite a ways down the path to completely moving on. I ultimately chose to come back this season because I know myself and I have a tendency to when something doesn’t go right or go the way I planned, I close myself off from ever attempting it again. Jimin was the first person I ever loved so I already am having the urge to avoid relationships completely. It may be too soon, it may not be, but I just don’t want to reject the idea of it happening again, so I am pushing myself now to prevent that from happening. I did have a bit of a tiff with Rose at first, but if I were to use that as a reason to not even give it a try, then that would just be the start of excuses every time the possibility of finding love comes up.

~*~

Kang Daesung, 31
Preacher
Itaewon

Daesung stands at a podium in front of the congregation. “Now, remember that this is the last time I’ll be able to meet with you all for the foreseeable future. I trust Brother Choi will do an excellent job continuing to share our Lord’s word with you during my absence. Please keep me in your prayers during my journey, and I’ll make sure to keep you in mine.”

Hello, I am Kang Daesung, I am a 31-year-old preacher of a small congregation here in Itaewon, and I have never been married. Which that’s probably obvious since divorce is a sin. Not long ago, the Lord spoke to me in a dream and helped me realize that I am in no position to be preaching to my fellow Christians about what a proper marriage looks like and how to raise their children in a Christian lifestyle when I myself do not have a wife or children. The next day, I saw an advertisement for this show, and I knew it was a sign. I very much hope for Rose to become my wife by the end of this.

~*~

Jeon Jungkook, 23
BigHit Trainee
Busan

Jungkook intensely moves along to the song blasting through the speakers in the practice room.

Surprised to see me, huh? *raises eyebrow* I know a lot of people will be worried, whether it be about me or about Rose, but I am here to say that there is no reason. Yes, I was the ‘runner up’ last season and did have a very strong relationship with Jimin, but a couple of weeks after Costa Rica, I had a sort of epiphany that I wasn’t actually in love with Jimin. I mean, I did love him, but not in the way I thought I did at the time. My admiration for him mixed with the feelings that I did develop and that maximized them and made them feel way more intense than they actually were. I also realized that I do really want to find that heart pounding, skin burning love with someone one day. From the time Jimin signed as a trainee, it took seven years for him to get that chance to find it for himself. In seven years, I’m going to be 30, and I really don’t want to wait that long, so I begged, literally begged, like on my hands and knees begging my manager to let me come back this season to at least get another chance.

I’m not in love with Jimin, I’m not still trying to get over him, what happened between me and Jimin shouldn’t have any effect on a potential relationship with Rose unless she lets that sway her judgment, which if she does then that’s understandable, I wouldn’t blame her. If I can find love with Rose over these next couple of months, then that would be amazing.

~*~

Kim Jongin, 26
Freelance Graphic Designer
Suncheon

Jongin is busy packing his suitcase so he can begin his journey to find love for the second time.

Last time didn’t work out so well for me. *chuckles* I was eliminated after the first round of dates, which is completely okay, I’m not holding a grudge over that or anything. I still very much want to find someone to settle down with and marry eventually, so as soon as I heard that they were doing another season of this, I signed up again. My main goal is of course to fall in love with Rose and have her fall in love with me, but the first little hurdle is getting past that first round of dates *laughs*

~*~

Jung Jaehyun, 23
Tour Guide
Seoul

Jaehyun leads a group of middle school students on a field trip down a path. “And on your left, you’ll see the exact spot I was standing in when I got the call saying that I would be a contestant on The Bachelorette!”

Hey, I’m Jaehyun, I’m 23 years old, and I’m a tour guide in Seoul. I was so excited when Rose was announced as the Bachelorette. Her voice is beautiful, her smile makes my heart flutter, and I lowkey wanted to punch Park Jimin when he sent her home at the end of their date. Rose deserves someone who is all in with her, and I am most definitely all in for her. I can’t wait to meet her. *smiles*

~*~

Oh Sehun, 26
Salesman
Jungnang-gu, Seoul

Sehun finishes a sale, the person signing their receipt. “Thank you for your business, and don’t forget to root for me on The Bachelorette.”

I’m Sehun, I’m 26, I live in Jungnang-gu here in Seoul, and I am a salesman. I am very much a family man, I work in my dad’s business that was started by my grandfather way back in the day, and I feel that’s something that Rose and I have in common. She mentioned how the hardest part about moving to South Korea was being away from her family and seeing her so happy when she realized they were going to Melbourne one week, I couldn’t help but be happy right along with her. I feel like Rose and I share a lot of the same values, and I believe that is the core of any relationship. I’m coming for you, Rose!

~*~

Zhang Yixing, 29
Actor
Changsha, China

Hi, I’m Yixing, I’m 29 years old, and I received the first rose of the season. I was already smitten with Rose just after seeing her on The Bachelor, and then when I actually got to meet her, I was already head over heels for her. I know she has other people she’ll be meeting and getting to know, but I feel like the fact that she gave me the first rose is a sign that she’s already starting to develop at least a small amount of feelings for me. I can’t wait to see her again and for the two of us to fall in love together.

~*~

Goo Junhoe, 23
Department Store Manager
Seoul

Junhoe speaks into a microphone to make an announcement to all the shoppers currently in the store. “Just a reminder that in a couple of months, if you bring proof of watching The Bachelorette and show support for me, Junhoe, your favorite manager, you will get a special discount!”

Hi, I’m Junhoe, and I am more than ready to get Rose to fall in love with me. Rose is drop dead gorgeous. Like, she is definitely one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. She also has a great personality, I actually passed by her busking a few times even before she was on The Bachelor and she was always so kind and humble to anyone who gave her some money, and even to the people who didn’t. Overall, she’s definitely my type.

~*~

Park Chanyeol, 28
Special Education Teacher
Seoul

“If you’re leaving us again so soon, then you better actually find love this time!” Chanyeol’s assistant teacher exclaims as his coworkers present him with cupcakes during his farewell party.

“Believe me, I’m going to try!”

Hi, it’s Chanyeol again! Last time, I think I became way too focused on Jimin and that relationship rather than focusing on the experience itself. If it was really meant to be, it would have happened naturally, and I realize now that me getting upset over the pace we had was unnecessary. This time, I’m going to focus more on having fun and enjoying myself and my time with Rose and let love come naturally. Rose and I have met up a few times, and while I can’t say that I do definitively have feelings for her, I can definitely see the possibility of feelings growing between us.

~*~

Pyo Jihoon, 27
Barista
Seoul

“Order for Chaewon!” Jihoon calls out as he sets the cup down on the pickup counter.

Hi, I’m Jihoon, I’m 27 years old, and I’m a barista by day, wanna be musician by night. I haven’t ever actually taken any action to try to make music or get my foot in the music industry, but it has been a dream of mine ever since I was little, so maybe one day I’ll actually get motivated to do it. Right now, what I really want is to find someone for me. I haven’t been in a serious relationship since high school, so it’s definitely time to end my dry spell. I think Rose is great, and I’m excited to see what can happen.

~*~

Do Kyungsoo, 27
Financial Accountant
Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul

Kyungsoo lays in a young boy’s bed, cuddling him. “You promise to be good for Halmeoni while I’m gone?” The six-year-old boy nods. “Are you gonna miss me?”

“Of course, Appa!”

I’m Kyungsoo, I’m 27, and unlike other people coming out on this show, I don’t need to find the love of my life, because I already have mine in Minjoon. I have been married once before. We got divorced a year ago and I have had sole custody of Minjoon since. I don’t know if anyone knows this but is extremely difficult to raise a six-year-old on your own. I work full time, and often work overtime just to make enough money to ensure that Minjoon can live comfortably, and that leaves me not very much time to actually spend with him. And there definitely hasn’t been enough time to get out in the dating world like I have wanted to for a few months now. I really want to find someone that both loves and accepts Minjoon who Minjoon also loves and accepts. It’s a two-way street there.

~*~

Kang Seungyoon, 26
Math Teacher
Busan

I thought I was excited before, but after meeting Rose, I’m like one step away from imploding. She is a great girl, she’s beautiful, kind, humble, all of the basic things I am looking for in a potential partner. Just the brief moment when I got to meet her has been enough to keep me awake at night while waiting to go to the mansion. I just really hope that things work out and that she falls for me the way I’m falling for her.

~*~

Im Jaebum, 26
Music Producer
Siheung-si

Jaebum sits in his studio, finishing up his last project before he leaves for The Bachelorette.

I’m Jaebum, I’m 26, and you might know me by my producer name, JB. Music is my passion, I have wanted to create music ever since I was old enough to bang a spoon on a pot. I’ve finally achieved that, I’m stable in my career, and I like to think I’m pretty successful. And now that I’ve achieved that, I feel like it’s time to find someone to share and spend the rest of my life with. I love my job and all that comes with it, but it is very lonely coming back to an empty apartment every night. I want to be able to come home to someone and talk about our days together and make plans together and just overall enjoy life together. That’s what I want most right now, and I’m really hoping to find that through this experience.

~*~

Kwon Soonyoung, 24
Choreographer
Hanam-si

“Bye, Mr. Soonyoung!” A bunch of kids rush around Soonyoung after he finishes up their lesson.

Hi, I’m Kwon Soonyoung, I’m 24 years old, and I am a choreographer at a dance studio. I work with all age groups, but my favorites are definitely the kids. I really want kids of my own one day, but I kind of can’t do that unless I’m in a relationship first. I have a whole to do list going, meet someone, fall in love, get married, have kids. And now I’m getting to that first task of meeting someone. I definitely became interested in Rose while watching her on The Bachelor, and now that she’s The Bachelorette, I’m jumping at the chance to meet her, and hopefully with her help, I can check off the first two steps on my list.

Chapter Text

Kim Jennie, 24
Aspiring Model
Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, Seoul

Jennie is in the middle of a very playful photoshoot, blowing a kiss to the camera. “Believe it or not, this is my first ever photoshoot.” Jennie giggles before moving into a new pose. “And I nearly missed out on it, but then they moved it up to today just for me.”

Hi everyone! I’m back for another chance of love!! I’ve never dated a girl before, but I have always been open to the idea. I’ve just never been given the opportunity to see what it would be like. I’ve been thinking about it a lot more lately, however, because Rose and I have hung out a few times, like getting coffee and stuff, and she is very cute and sweet. I would love to date Rose and to experience something new with her.

~*~

Kang Seulgi, 26
Vocal Teacher
Danwon-gu, Ansan

Hi, it’s Seulgi! After last season, I realized just how much I really crave finding the one for me and settling down with them. Like, I really, really want to get married, or at least date someone with the intention of hopefully marrying them in the end rather than staying stuck with people who are just dating for the fun of it. Rose seems to be very serious about this, wanting to find the actual one for her as opposed to just having fun, so I am looking forward to meeting her again and see if we match well or not.

~*~

Ariana Grande, 27
Musical Actress
Boca Raton, Florida, USA

Ariana is on a stage, singing her heart out in the final performance of the musical she is the lead in.

Hi, I’m Ariana, I’m 27, and I am a musical theatre performer. I grew up in Florida and was always a theatre geek. As soon as I graduated high school, I moved to New York to follow my dreams of being a Broadway performer. That has yet to happen, but it will one day *giggles* Right now I’m content with the smaller productions I’ve been in. I’ve had a lot of failed relationships in the past, so I’ve tried to stay away from love and romance for a while. I’ve wanted to find myself again and make sure I was confident in who I was before trying to share that with another person. Now I feel like I’m in a place where I can put myself back out there and at least try again. I’ve also always really wanted to travel the world and see new places, so being on The Bachelorette seems like a good way to kill two birds with one stone *giggles again* I’m really excited to meet Rose and see where things can go with her.

~*~

Park Sooyoung, 24
Kindergarten Teacher
Jeju-si

Joy sits in the middle of the big circle carpet in her classroom as her students present her with a going away present. “Aww, you guys are too sweet! I’m going to miss you all so much!”

I’m Sooyoung, I’m 24 years old, and I am hopefully going to win over Rose’s heart at the end of this journey. One day one of my students came up to me and asked, ‘Miss Park, why aren’t you married yet’ and I just kind of froze like ‘why aren’t I married yet?’ I always had this plan that I would meet the one for me in college and then we would get married straight after graduation. That didn’t happen and my dating life has kind of been in the slumps lately, and that question kind of jolted me into realizing that I needed to get on it if I wanted to get married at least close to my desired time. After a lot of failed dates and attempts at relationships, I’ve decided to come on this show and try my luck here. I think Rose is great and I’m feeling very hopeful about the outcome of this journey.

~*~

Ahn Hyojin, 29
Underground Rapper
Cheonan-si

A video of one of Hyojin’s performances plays along with her voiceover.

I’m Hyojin, also known as Elly, and I’m 29 years old. I watched The Bachelor with my friends when it was on and I was very drawn to Rose from the beginning. I have a lot of respect and admiration for artists who start from the ground up as opposed to signing with a company before ever giving a performance or writing a song or anything of the sort. I also like that Rose is very true to herself, that is something I value a lot both in myself and with potential partners. I’m very excited to meet Rose and see if we could work well together in more ways than one.

~*~

Son Chaeyoung, 21
Philosophy Student
Dunchon-dong, Seoul

Hi, I’m Chaeyoung, and I’m a philosophy student at Seoul National University. I know I’m extremely young, but I don’t feel like I should be denied the chance to see if I can find love with someone just because of my age. The dating scene in college isn’t really for me. Everyone here is more interested in hookups and physical flings rather than emotional bonds. I’m not saying that I am 100% ready for something super serious, but I want someone who’s current values line up with my current values. From seeing Rose on The Bachelor, it seems like her values might be similar to mine, so I definitely think it’s worth the risk to come on this show and just see what happens.

Bae Joohyun, 29
Hair Stylist
Daegu

So, at first, I had no desire to watch The Bachelor. I just thought it was going to be a melting pot of pettiness and drama. But then it was revealed that one of the contestants was from Daegu, so it was like an unspoken rule that everyone had to watch it and support him. At the beginning, I was kind of turned off from Rose because of how she did cut into Jennie’s time. I originally assumed that she was one of the petty drama seekers. I quickly realized how wrong I was as the show went on and I saw how she avoided drama as much as possible, and even called out a friend of hers on her *bleep*. It was during the Tell All when it was revealed that she and Jennie had made up nearly immediately that I was like ‘huh, she’s pretty close to my type’. I don’t have any feelings for her yet, that would be ridiculous considering I’ve only spoken to her for like five seconds when I was chosen as one of the lucky ones to get to meet her. But I am excited to explore that with her, and hopefully I can make this journey stress free for her by being the self-proclaimed drama police.

When I met Rose in person, I was blown away by her beauty and personality. Like, I wanted right then in there to say, ‘screw the show, please just date me’. I really can’t wait to go to the mansion and see Rose again and start a relationship with her. I’m also excited to meet the others, like I’m really looking forward to making friends during this experience. I mean, what else am I supposed to do during whenever I’m not on a date with Rose?

Dua sits on her bedroom floor, singing while strumming a guitar.

Hi, I’m Dua, I’m 25, and I’m from London. I originally watched The Bachelor for Jimin, because I am a huge fan of him, but I quickly found myself watching it more so for Rose. Like, I almost stopped watching it after she was eliminated. I feel like she and I have a lot in common, as we’re both aspiring musicians, so I feel like we’d have a lot to talk about and get along really well. I’m looking forward to seeing if a relationship could blossom between us.

I’m Jisoo, and I’m obsessed with gaming. I’ve been playing video games ever since I was old enough to hold a controller, and that passion and enjoyment turned into a career for me. I’m definitely a lucky one in that area. And area I’m not lucky in is love. No relationships have ever worked out for me, and that is very frustrating, especially now that my older sister has gotten married. My parents and grandparents also like to constantly comment on my relationship status whenever they get the chance. But I don’t want to date just to date, I want to enter a relationship with someone I actually feel for and who feels for me. I’m hoping that I can find that during this journey.

Park Jihyo, 23

Hi, I’m Jihyo, and my dating ban at my company just recently lifted, so I’m ready to enter that phase of life. I was literally counting down the days to when my dating ban would be up because being in a relationship is something I have really wanted for a while, but when the time finally came, I was at a loss as to how to enter the dating world. Like, do I let my friends set me up on blind dates, do I join a dating site, do I just wait for a number to appear in my sandwich at Inkigayo? I had no clue what to do. Then The Bachelor happened, and I saw Jimin get opportunities he, and other idols like us, never had before, and come out of it in a happy and loving relationship, and I thought maybe this would be good for me too. I really hope things work out and that I can find happiness with Rose the way Jimin and Yoongi did with each other.

What am I even supposed to say here? Like, I got all of my gushing over Rose and talking about how I feel about her back when I met her. I’m just…I’m just really excited to get the ball rolling and see her again. And the fact that I get a break from school is a big plus too. *thumbs up*

Hi, I’m Lisa, and I’m a dancer from Thailand. I am a big family person, I’m very close to both my mother and stepfather, who I do see as my true father. In fact, being away from them was the only reason I questioned if I should do this or not. But I did realize that while I do love them very much, I also need to do things for myself, like explore the world and experience new things and find someone to do all that with. I feel like Rose is definitely the kind of person I would want to explore the world and experience new things with. She is bubbly, smart, kind, funny, and very cute. I’m really hoping that when I meet her, there will be a spark. Because if there’s a spark, then that means a fire can burn.

I’m Wendy and I’m 26 years old. I was born in South Korea, but my family moved to Canada when I was in elementary school and we’ve been here since. I want to date someone who understands my family’s culture and values, and that is extremely hard to find in Richmond Hill. I’d originally applied for last season, but didn’t get picked, so when I did get picked for this season, I was extremely excited. I know that Rose is the Bachelorette, but I haven’t researched her past what was shown in The Bachelor because if a relationship is going to happen, then I want it to grow naturally, and that includes getting to know her in the traditional way.

I’m Ashley, I’m 29, and I’m more than ready to be married. I want to be married before I turn 30, and right now it’s not looking that way. All of my past relationships were more focused on them gaining popularity through being associated with me and my social media presence rather than actually wanting me. I don’t think Rose would ever do that, so I’m very hopeful about how things will go after we meet.

Chapter Text

Rose

I can’t believe this is finally happening! I’m seriously about to meet 30 men and women, one of which very well be my partner in life at the end of this. It just feels so surreal.

~*~

Rose gets into the car waiting outside her apartment to take her to the mansion. On the other side of the city, a group of contestants are breaking open a bottle of champagne in a limo and making a toast to Rose and the start of the journey.

Rose’s car makes it to the mansion, and she climbs out to meet Sihyuk who has been patiently waiting for her. “Welcome back to the mansion, Rose!” Sihyuk greets her as Rose moves in for a hug.

“I’m excited to be back!” Rose responds as she pulls away.

“Are you ready for this?”

Rose takes a deep breath and giggles. “I’m really nervous and freaking out slightly, but yeah, I’m ready.”

“What’s making you freak out?”

Rose lets out a breath and another laugh. “It’s just…I’ve kind of been planning out what this night will be like for a while now, and you know, there’s a chance that it’ll go the complete opposite of what I’m expecting, things could go horribly wrong, or I might not click with anybody, things like that.”

“Let me put your mind at rest a bit.” Sihyuk offers. “It probably won’t go exactly as you expect. Things just don’t always go as planned, and that’s okay. Of course, some things could go terrible, as I’m sure you recall from last season, but there are enough amazing moments to counteract those negative ones. And you’ve already clicked with a few people, so you definitely shouldn’t have any worries there.”

Rose thanks Sihyuk. “How are you so good at your job?”

Sihyuk chuckles. “Lots of practice and effort. So, Rose, as we get closer to the beginning of your journey to find love, I want to know what your biggest fear going into this is.”

“Ooh~” Rose says under her breath, thinking the question over before answering. “I guess similar to what Jimin was scared of, that some of the people won’t actually be here to get to know me and want me, but instead want to fill some sort of fantasy or desire of theirs, and I’m especially worried that my intuition won’t be good enough to catch those people before it gets too late.”

“Those are very valid worries.” Sihyuk comments. “But you are a very intelligent woman, and I believe you do have good intuition, so just trust yourself and you’ll get through this.” Rose thanks him again with a smile. “Do you have a specific type you’re looking for?”

“I’ve always been very drawn to confident people.” Rose answers almost immediately. “And I don’t mean like cocky, stuck up, jerkish confident. I mean people who are confident in themselves and who they are as a person even in moments where they may be nervous or shy.”

As Rose finishes her explanation, headlights appear signaling the arrival of the first group of contestants. “Alright, first limo is here, you can do this.” Rose takes a deep calming breath as Sihyuk gives her a good luck hug. “Let the journey begin~”

Sihyuk walks away just as the first limo comes to a stop. Rose smiles as the driver gets out to open the door, revealing the first of 30 contestants.

“Thank you~” The woman says to the driver as she smooths down her skirt, strutting down the path to Rose. “Hi, Rose, how are you?”

“I’m good!” Rose says cheerfully as they hug. “And you?”

“I’m a bit nervous, but also very excited.” She says honestly. “My name is Hyojin.”

“Nice to meet you, Hyojin~”

“You too~” Hyojin smiles brightly. “Now, I know you’re about to meet a lot of people tonight, a lot of great people, and maybe some not so great people. I just want to remind you to breathe through it all and don’t let anything get into your head. Just be you and do what is best for you. As long as you do that, then you’ll have nothing to worry about.”

Rose’s smile gets brighter. “Well, thank you for that, it is highly appreciated!” They hug once more. “I can’t wait to talk to you more inside!” Hyojin returns the statement before walking into the mansion.

The next contestant steps out of the limo, another woman. “Hi!” She greets happily.

“Is that a British accent I detect?” Rose asks as she hugs her.

“It is!” The woman responds. “I’m Dua and I’m from London. Right now, I work in a restaurant back home, but I love music and do want to pursue that. And since you’re a musician also, I was thinking maybe one day we could make beautiful music together.”

“I’d like that!” Rose exclaims, Dua heading inside shortly after.

A third woman steps out of the limo, already smiling brightly as she walks over to Rose. “Hi, I’m Lisa!”

“Hi, Lisa! I love your jacket!” Rose gushes as they hug. “It’s super cute!”

“Oh, thank you, maybe I’ll let you borrow it!” Lisa offers. “So, there’s not a lot I could really do for a first impression that would still be fair to the other contestants,” Rose giggles at that, “so instead I’m just gonna tell you a little about what I’m looking for while here.”

“Perfect! Let’s go!”

Lisa giggles. “Okay, so I really look up to my mother and stepfather and their relationship and use that as a basis for what any relationship I have should be like. And because of that, any relationship has to have these three things: communication, honesty, and a hint of spontaneity.”

Rose smiles even wider. “Well those are three things I value too, so we’re already off to a good start.”

“Good! I’d be worried if we weren’t!” The two women giggle again as they share another hug, Lisa walking into the mansion afterward.

The first male contestant of the night steps out of the limo next. “You look beautiful~”

“Aww, thank you so much!” Rose’s cheeks turn a bit pink at the compliment as she hugs the man.

“I’m Daesung~” The man introduces himself. “And I am a preacher. I feel like that’s important to share first thing as I do know there are some people who have given Christianity a bad name because of their actions, and I just want to make sure that there won’t be any problems surrounding my beliefs or yours.”

“Not at all!” Rose assures him. “I’m a Christian too, so unless you’re a jerk or overzealous, then there shouldn’t be any problems.”

Daesung smiles at her. “Good to know. I should let you get on with meeting the others, because I would hate for you to have to be stuck out here in the cold for too long. Until we meet again inside.” Daesung gives her another hug before making his way inside.

Another woman steps out of the limo, waving to Rose while smiling widely. “Hi, I’m Sooyoung, and I’m so happy to meet you!”

“I’m so happy to meet you too!” Rose exclaims, hugging Sooyoung.

“I am very glad that you are The Bachelorette, because it’s extremely hard to find genuine people who take relationships seriously. You’re a rarity.” Rose smiles and thanks her, hugging her again.

~*~

Sooyoung

A part of me is confused as to why Jimin would pass up on someone like Rose, but another part of me is very happy that he did, otherwise I wouldn’t be getting this chance with her. She’s going to be meeting a lot of people tonight, and a lot of them will for sure be doing something crazy to catch her attention. Hopefully my simple greeting will stick out though.

~*~

The next contestant is already singing into a microphone as he steps out of the limo.

Want you to love me love me
When you look at me
geu misoleul naega da gatgo sipeo
I know you want me
ama naega neoleul deo johahana bwa”

“I could get used to this!” Rose exclaims as Seungyoon continues to serenade her.

Love me love me
Love me love me
nan yeongwonhi
neowa hamkke chumchugo sipeo
Love me love me
Love me love me
I want you to love me
neowa hamkke sum swigo sipeo”

Rose cheers and claps for him as he finishes. “Seriously, I really could get used to you singing to me every time we meet.” She hugs Seungyoon. “How have you been?”

“Impatiently waiting for this moment to finally come.” Seungyoon answers, his cheeks pink much like they were the first night they met.

“Well, it’s finally here!” Rose exclaims, squeezing his hands before pulling him into another hug. “I can’t wait to hear more beautiful songs from you!”

“I can’t wait to share more beautiful songs with you!” Seungyoon pulls back from the hug so he can go inside.

A second limo arrives with the second group of contestants, the first one to step out being another man. He flashes a bright smile, his cheeks slightly pink as he approaches Rose. “Hi, I’m Jaehyun~”

“Hi, Jaehyun!” She greets enthusiastically with a hug.

“Can I just say that you are far more beautiful in person?” Jaehyun asks, seeming completely in awe of the woman in front of him. “You are definitely the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.”

Rose is speechless after the comment. “Oh, thank you~” is all she manages to get out before giving him another hug.

“I’m sorry I don’t have much more to say, I’m kind of awkward at first meetings.” Jaehyun says as he starts to walk away towards the mansion.

“You weren’t awkward at all!” Rose assures him as he disappears from sight. “He’s cute, I like him~” Rose says to herself as she turns back towards the limo.

The man greets her with a hug. “I’m Sehun, and I don’t really have much to say now other than I’m really excited for tonight and I’m looking forward to getting to know you.”

“Short and sweet, I like it~” Rose smiles brightly at him as he heads towards the mansion.

Rose’s jaw drops as the next woman steps out of the limo. “No way, Jihyo?!”

Jihyo giggles shyly as she approaches the bachelorette. “I’m guessing you know who I am?”

Rose nods. “Yeah, I’m a fan of your music, what are you doing here?”

“I’m here to get to know you and hopefully find something great with you.”

~*~

Jihyo

My heart started pounding as soon as I stepped out of the limo and saw her. She’s just so beautiful and charming that I’m surprised I was able to keep my cool while talking to her.

~*~

Kyungsoo is the next contestant, telling Rose how excited he is to get to know her and that he can’t wait to talk to her inside.

~*~

Rose

I am shocked by how amazing every single person is so far. There are so many different people, so many different personalities, and they’re all here for me. That’s still really hard for me to wrap my head around. And I really wasn’t expecting Jihyo to appear, I still think I might have been hallucinating or something. If not, then I’m guessing that’s the big surprise for this season.

~*~

Rose’s eyes widen in shock as the next contestant arrives. “Chanyeol?”

“Surprised to see me?” He asks as he hugs Rose.

“Uh, yeah!” Rose exclaims, looking up at the male that towers over her. “What are you doing here?”

Chanyeol shrugs slightly. “I’m still looking for that one for me, and we obviously get along pretty well, so if you’re open to it, then I’m willing to see if something more can come from this.”

Rose nods slightly. “Yeah, let’s see what happens! This’ll be fun!” Chanyeol smiles down at her and pulls her into another hug.

~*~

Rose

Okay, so maybe it’s Chanyeol that’s the surprise. Either way, I don’t think anything from this point on could really shock me.

~*~

Jennie is the next contestant to arrive. “I know we had kind of a rough start, but we’ve moved past that, and I have enjoyed the few times we’ve hung out, so I’m really looking forward to getting to know you even more.”

~*~

Rose

Okay, I stand corrected. Jennie definitely surprised me a bit, not as much as Chanyeol or Jihyo, but I was definitely not expecting her. Are there any other surprises I need to be made aware of?

~*~

Jisoo is next, telling Rose about how she’s literally been counting down the days until she got to meet Rose.

~*~

Rose

I really don’t think there are any bad seeds here tonight. I haven’t gotten any negative vibes for anyone, so I’m taking that as a good sign.

~*~

Hoshi talks about his love of dance and tells Rose that he hopes to be able to dance with her at least once.

~*~

Rose

I’m already wondering how I could possibly choose anyone to send home tonight because they are all so great.

~*~

Rose’s eyebrows furrow in confusion as the next contestant arrives. “Taehyung?”

Taehyung smiles at Rose. “I know, I’m probably the last person you would expect or want here.”

“More like I’m just really confused~” Rose tilts her head slightly.

“That’s understandable~” Taehyung says with a slight chuckle. “I’m not about to profess my love for you or say that it was you all along, so don’t worry about that. I just want another chance at love and want to see if that could possibly be with you.”

~*~

Rose

I definitely have mixed feelings about Taehyung being here. On the one hand, Taehyung is a nice guy. Sure, he and I had some issues at first, but overall, he’s very kind and respectful. On the other, he was totally head over heels in love with Jimin not that long ago.

~*~

Jihoon arrives next, handing Rose a cup of coffee. “It’s gonna be a long night, so I thought you might like the caffeine boost.”

“Oh my gosh, thank you so much!”

~*~

Jihoon

Rose is so beautiful, like, she’s just so…wow.

~*~

Seulgi arrives next. “Oh, hey Seulgi!” Rose gives her a hug. “It’s nice to see you again!”

“It’s nice to see you too!” Seulgi exclaims, pulling back. “We didn’t really get the chance to talk a lot last time, so I’m really looking forward to getting to know you tonight.”

“Same here~” Rose replies with a bright smile.

~*~

Lisa

There are so many different personalities here tonight, it’s kind of overwhelming.

~*~

Minho arrives next, giving Rose a very simple greeting before making his way inside.

~*~

Lisa

But there isn’t really anyone questionable that’s arrived yet…except Taehyung. It’s kind of weird that he can go from being so in love with Jimin to being over him and pursuing someone new in such a short period of time.

~*~

Ashley steps out of the limo with a video camera in hand. “I hope you don’t mind if I film this, I’m a YouTuber and I was hoping to upload a ‘my experience during The Bachelorette’ vlog after the show airs.” Rose is in the middle of telling her that it’s fine when she adds on, “hopefully it’ll actually be a ‘how I fell in love’ vlog.”

~*~

Hyojin

There are a few people here from last season, including some pretty popular people. I just hope that it doesn’t affect the rest of us and our chances at getting to know Rose. I also hope no more people from last season show up.

~*~

Jongin walks up to Rose with a small box of macaroons in hand. “I thought you might be hungry, so I brought you a little snack.”

“Is this, like, your thing?” Rose teases him, referring to the fried chicken he had brought Jimin.

Jongin answers as Rose takes a bite from one of the treats. “Kind of. I like making sure the people I could potentially spend the rest of my life with are well fed and taken care of.”

“Aww, that’s sweet~” Rose offers Jongin one of the macaroons before he goes inside.

~*~

Dua

I don’t think there has been anything over shocking or out there as far as first impressions go. But some of the contestants to show up have definitely been unexpected.

~*~

A look of surprise crosses Rose’s face once again as Jungkook steps out of the limo. “Hi, Rose~”

“Hi?” Rose greets. “I thought all of the surprises had already happened tonight.”

“Nope, you got one more.” Jungkook says. “I would like for tonight to be kind of a clean slate for us. I want to come at this as if we’re meeting and getting to know each other for the first time. Past stays in the past. Is that okay with you?”

“Yeah, that’s more than okay with me.” Rose assures him.

~*~

Dua

Jungkook walks into the mansion and with the exception of Taehyung who was happy to see him because they’re like best friends or whatever, literally everyone fell silent. I’m sure they were all thinking the same thing I am, ‘why the *bleep* is he here?’ Like, even Taehyung being here I can look over because he didn’t get to the fantasy suites, he didn’t get to know Jimin in a more intimate way, he didn’t really get his chance. Jungkook had his chance, he doesn’t deserve to be here again.

~*~

“I actually had no idea what to say or do, so I have nothing prepared.” Ariana giggles slightly, an apologetic look on her face. “I’m sorry I’m so boring right now, I promise I’ll be better in the future.”

“No, it’s okay!” Rose assures her. “You weren’t boring at all!”

~*~

Dua

I’ve already picked out a few people that should definitely go home tonight.

~*~

Junhoe hands Rose a stack of coupons. “Everyone knows that the best part of a relationship is benefits from each other’s jobs.”

~*~

Dua

Whether it be that they’re annoying or not deserving, they just need to go.

~*~

Yerim arrives and hands Rose a folded piece of paper. “I don’t think I told you last time we met, but I am an astronomy student.”

“Wow, that’s so cool!” Rose says genuinely.

“This is a map of different constellations, if you want you can look over it whenever you get the chance, and I hope we can go stargazing soon.”

~*~

Yerim

Rose looked genuinely happy to see me again, and that just makes me feel so good inside. She also accepted my very small gift, so I’m pretty content right now.

~*~

Yerim walks in and greets everyone cheerfully. “You were on After the Final Rose, weren’t you?” Dua asks, and Yerim nods. “I already thought you were cute when I saw that, and you’re even cuter in person, and now I’m extremely jealous.”

Yerim giggles, “Thank you~”

~*~

Yerim

Five of us got to meet Rose during the After the Final Rose special, and you could definitely tell that a lot of them are jealous over that. I don’t blame them, I know if I were in their position, I would be jealous too.

~*~

Joohyun greets Rose with a hug. “This isn’t the first time we’ve met, so this definitely isn’t a first impression. But I believe that second impressions are more important anyway, so I do want to take this chance to once again tell you that I think you are an amazing person and I can’t wait to get to know you.”

“I can’t wait either!” Rose responds. “And don’t worry, both of your impressions were great.”

Joohyun leaves to enter the house, making way for Tzuyu to greet Rose. “Any new oral hygiene tools for me?”

Tzuyu laughs. “Not this time, just me, myself, and I!”

“That’s a pretty great gift too~”

~*~

Inside, Sooyoung, Minho, and Seungyoon are already deep in conversation. “I wonder when that Yixing guy’s going to show up.” Sooyoung comments. “He was smooth.”

Minho nods in agreement. “Yeah, I can’t even be mad over him already having a rose.”

“He definitely deserved it.” Seungyoon says.

“I’m really curious as to what he’s going to do when he does get here.” Sooyoung states.

~*~

Yixing steps out of the limo with another flower in hand. “Another one?” Rose asks in shock as the male approaches her.

“This time, I have an orchid for you.” Yixing says, holding out the flower for her as he begins his explanation. “Orchids are often used in weddings in China, because they do represent love, which I thought was a perfect fit for tonight.” Rose hums in agreement. “But I also chose this flower because it represents integrity, which I feel is another trait you possess, and it is a trait I value and definitely want someone I’m going to be sharing my life with to have.”

“I feel like I’ll be able to open a flower shop by the end of this.” Rose giggles as she hugs Yixing.

The male enters the house, where the other contestants greet him enthusiastically.

~*~

Yixing

It is definitely a good feeling knowing that I am already guaranteed to last at least through the first week of dates. But I’m not going to get too comfortable, I’m still going to put forth the dedication to show that Rose and I could make a very good couple.

~*~

“Hi, I’m Chaeyoung!” The next contestant greets Rose happily.

“Chaeyoung? That’s my Korean name!” Rose giggles slightly at the realization.

“Looks like we already have something in common then!” Chaeyoung smiles at her. “I can’t wait to see what else we have in common when I get to talk to you inside.”

~*~

Chaeyoung

I really had no idea that Rose’s Korean name is Chaeyoung too. I really hope that the fact that we share a name will help keep in her mind enough that I’ll get a rose this first night.

~*~

Wendy is all smiles as she meets Rose for the first time. “So, I’m a manager at a hotel, so I know all about satisfying people’s needs and making sure people are comfortable, which are two very critical factors in a relationship.”

“They very much are!”

~*~

Wendy

I’m not sure about Rose, but I definitely felt a little something brewing with our first conversation. I really hope I get the chance to explore that with Rose.

~*~

The final contestant arrives, a shy smile on his face. “Hi, I’m Jaebum~”

“Hi, Jaebum!” Rose greets him cheerfully as they hug.

“I had this entire speech planned out, but now that I’m actually in front of you, I literally cannot remember a single word of it.” Jaebum says, blushing slightly.

Rose giggles a bit. “That’s okay! Just say whatever’s on your mind right now.”

Jaebum takes a little breath before doing so. “You are so beautiful and I’m sure your mind is even more beautiful, and I can’t wait to get to know you. All of you~”

“I can’t wait to get to know you too.” Rose says quietly, her cheeks slightly red.

After Jaebum heads inside, Sihyuk returns to talk to Rose. “So, you’ve just met your 30 men and women, and you look like you’re having fun.”

“I am having fun!” Rose responds. “But you could have warned me about a select few who would be here tonight!” She playfully punches Sihyuk’s shoulder.

“Against the rules, sorry~” Sihyuk says teasingly. “Now, before I let you go inside, I want to remind you of the First Impression Rose. Yixing already has a rose, but there will be another one that I will bring in later tonight for you to give to the person that you already have such a strong connection with or already have so much interest in that you know for sure you want them around for a while.”

“Of course~”

“You have anyone in particular in mind already?”

Rose thinks it over a bit. “There are definitely a few people that have already piqued my interest, and some that I definitely want to talk to for various reasons, but there’s no particular one that stands out so much that I already know I want to give the rose to.”

“That’s fair,” Sihyuk nods his head. “So…are you ready to go inside?”

“Totally! Let’s do this!”

Sihyuk smiles down at Rose. “Well then, Rose, get ready for the night of your life.”

The contestants are all gathered in the living room, talking about how they can’t wait to talk to Rose when she finally walks in to officially start the cocktail party. “How is everyone?” She immediately asks, earning positive replies from mostly everyone, the others remaining silent. “I’m glad you’re all doing good.” Rose takes a small pause before continuing, brushing her hair behind her ear. “I just want to thank all of you for being here tonight, none of you had to apply for this show and take this risk, so the fact that you did really means a lot to me and already gives you a lot of brownie points.” The contestants giggle a bit before Rose continues. “I also want to make it clear that I’m not perfect. There are going to be awkward moments, especially tonight as it is the first night. I may make a few mistakes along the way, and I expect you to be okay with that. What I’m not expecting is a perfect person, because none of you are perfect either. We are all human, and it is human nature to make mistakes and have flaws. So, I desperately ask you to always be genuine and honest with me, even if you think that I won’t like it, because I assure you, I don’t dislike anything more than dishonesty. So, can we make a deal here and now to always be honest with each other?” All thirty contestants voice their agreement. “Good~” Rose raises her champagne glass, the rest of the people in the room following suit. “To a beautiful start to a beautiful journey, let’s get this thing started!”

The contestants cheer in response as Lisa steps forward. “Do you mind if I steal you away first?”

“Not at all~” Rose says with a smile, taking Lisa’s hand and leading her off from the group.

“And so it begins~” Jongin comments, downing his champagne.

Jihyo

Lisa swooped in almost immediately and I was like, oh, okay, this is real, this is actually happening.

~*~

“That was really quick~” Jihyo comments as the contestants start to form their own little groups to mingle as they wait their turn.

Jihoon shrugs. “There is some truth to that whole ‘early bird catches the worm’ thing.”

~*~

Lisa and Rose get comfortable on a bench outside. “So, tell me about yourself~” Rose says immediately.

“Okay, just give me a second to think over where to start.” Rose giggles as Lisa mentally prepares herself. “I’m from Thailand,” Rose makes a noise of interest, “yep, I came a long way just to meet you. And I’m a dancer, I have my own crew back home in Bangkok.”

“Really?” Rose asks with interest. “What kind of dancing do you do?”

“Professionally we do a lot of covers of K-pop songs.” Lisa answers. “But once we get to where we want and can start performing our own choreographies, we lean more towards a hip-hop style, but there’s a lot of fusion going on with us. Just whatever feels good and goes with our chosen song basically.”

Rose nods in understanding. “I have such a high respect for dancers because dancing is a very difficult thing to do. You have to have both physical and mental strength and a lot of endurance, not to mention patience of learning a new technique, and so much goes into dancing.”

~*~

Lisa

Talking with Rose is so easy and natural. I really wasn’t expecting our conversation to flow so smoothly.

~*~

Rose and Lisa hug as their conversation comes to an end.

~*~

Lisa

Usually I feel awkward whenever I talk as much as I did with Rose because I’m always paranoid that the person isn’t interested or even listening. I didn’t get that with Rose at all. It’s very obvious that she is truly engaged in a conversation, even if she doesn’t speak very much. I can’t wait to get to know more about her the next time we talk.

~*~

Daesung and Rose sit inside near the fireplace in a separate room from everyone else. “So, there is one thing I want to get out of the way right now.” Rose says to start the conversation. “Kind of like just ripping off a Band-Aid…” Daesung nods. “So, you are a preacher, which means you are a very devout Christian, and with that, I feel like there is a big possibility that the fact that I will be dating both men and women could pose an issue.” There’s a moment of silence before Rose finishes her thought. “So, I just want to know right now if you do have a problem with that, because I don’t want to get weeks down the road and suddenly find out that you harbor negative feelings over my open sexuality.”

“You did ask for honesty, and even if you hadn’t, I wouldn’t be able to lie…” Daesung takes a small breath, “there is a part of me that is a bit put off by that aspect of this situation because I did grow up in the church and from a young age I was conditioned to believe that homosexuality is disgusting and the worst of all sins. But that is not what I believe now.”

“It’s not~” Rose states not so much as a question but as a confirmation.

Daesung nods his head. “When I realized that it was my destiny to teach the word of God, I did a lot of soul searching and research to make sure I was fully prepared to take on this responsibility, and in doing so, I realized two very important things that are the core of my beliefs. The first is that it is not my place nor anyone on this Earth’s to judge anyone for any reason. It is God’s and only God’s place to determine the wholesomeness of a soul. My only job is to educate others on the word of God by spreading love and acceptance. I can’t do that if I’m trying to play God and condemn others.” Rose nods at Daesung’s explanation as he continues. “The second thing is that God makes every single person the way they are for a reason. Whether it be giving them a certain skin color or giving them a disability of some sort, whatever it is, God does it intentionally. We as humans may not understand his intentions, but it’s not our place to understand, it’s our place to love and accept everyone regardless of whatever sin they may or may not be committing.”

“I really like your philosophy.” Rose comments. “There are so many people out there who will condemn anything that doesn’t go along with their interpretation of the Bible or their religion as if they know exactly what God intended, so it’s really nice to see someone in a position of power doing their best not to bring about even more corruption than what already exists.”

~*~

“Don’t take this the wrong way or anything, because I am definitely not trying to pass judgment or anything, I am just genuinely curious.” Yerim says to Chanyeol as they, Lisa, Jihyo, and Soonyoung sit in a small group. “But why didn’t you ever think to pursue a relationship with Rose before now? Aren’t you guys, like, pretty good friends and everything?”

“Yeah, we are,” Chanyeol answers. “But I never asked her out before because I’d never thought about it before. I’d already talked to the producers extremely soon after I’d left last season about possibly coming back this season because I was hoping that if I took the risk a second time, it would go at least a tiny bit better. They’d already accepted me in as a contestant before I knew that Rose would be the bachelorette, and I did almost back out after finding out, but then I stopped and thought about it. Just because I hadn’t necessarily seen her in a romantic light just yet doesn’t mean it’s impossible, and that’s what this whole journey is about, being open to the possibility of love finding you.”

~*~

Soonyoung

I’ve noticed that a lot of people here are very philosophical thinkers. Like they always go deep even with extremely simple ideals. I’m not like that. It’s definitely very good to have thought provoking conversations, but it’s also just as important to have fun. I’m afraid that Rose may not be getting as much of that fun tonight with everyone desperately trying to secure themselves a rose tonight, so I’m gonna try to give her a little break.

~*~

“So, I’m sure you’re also feeling nervous tonight along with a bunch of other emotions.” Soonyoung says as he leads Rose outside.

“You can definitely say that.”

He brings her to a stop by a set of speakers. “Well, whenever I start to feel down or get nervous, I always throw a little dance party to shake off all those negative feelings.”

“So, we’re gonna have a dance party now?” Rose’s question is answered as Soonyoung turns some music on and starts dancing crazily. Rose laughs as Soonyoung grabs her hands and moves with her until she joins in, dancing alongside him.

~*~

Rose

Being the Bachelorette is so much more amazing than I even imagined. Like, when they first told me that I was gonna do this, I honestly didn’t think I would be able to handle it. I thought I would run out as soon as the first person stepped out of the limo. But I didn’t, and I’m extremely proud of myself for that. I’m so happy I stuck with it because this is honestly one of the greatest nights of my life.

~*~

Joohyun and Rose lounge outside during their conversation. “I enjoyed your little spiel about perfection and imperfection.” Joohyun comments. “Perfection is so overrated, I wasted so many years of my life trying to fit into society’s standards of what a perfect woman is, so seeing someone standing in front of a group of people and a bunch of cameras and state that imperfections are what make us human knowing that it will be aired in just a few months’ time, it really does mean a lot to me.”

“I’m glad it does~” Rose responds. “People are always so pressured by society, parents, friends, literally everyone to be someone that they usually aren’t, so I really wanted to make sure that no one would feel pressured with me in any way.”

~*~

Rose

Everyone really listened to what I said about being genuine and honest. They’re all super relaxed and just really natural in the way they speak and interact with me, which helps me to relax too, and it’s just really great overall.

~*~

“I don’t want to keep you away from the others for too long.” Yixing states as his conversation with Rose begins to wind up. “Because that really wouldn’t be fair considering I’m already going to be here after tonight, but I just want to remind you that you are a beautiful, strong woman and I can’t wait to get to know you more as the weeks go on.”

Rose blushes slightly. “Aww, thank you~”

~*~

Rose

I can definitely see myself falling in love within these next couple of months.

~*~

“I really like the gift you gave me during After the Final Rose.” Rose tells Tzuyu, who blows the gift off as not being that great. “No, I really did, it was very original and cute.”

“It was definitely original,” Tzuyu agrees. “Not very many people would emphasize the importance of oral hygiene upon a first meeting.”

Rose giggles. “Nor would they highlight that it’s extremely important if you plan on kissing people.” Tzuyu hides her face in slight embarrassment at Rose’s teasing. “I really did keep my promise of keeping it in mind as I prepare for this experience. I have been committed to using the little kit regularly and taking very good care of my mouth.”

“Well, in that case…would you be okay with me kissing you right now?”

Rose giggles a bit, her cheeks taking on a pink tint. “I like that you asked permission first.” She falls quiet before shyly nodding her head, tilting her head slightly as Tzuyu leans in. Their lips meet for a brief moment, the kiss staying short and sweet.

~*~

Tzuyu

I definitely did not come into tonight planning on kissing Rose. But the opportunity arose, and I jumped at it. I feel like the fact that Rose was okay with kissing me despite it being maybe a bit too fast is a good sign, so I am feeling pretty confident about the ceremony tonight.

~*~

Sihyuk enters the room with a silver tray, a picture of Rose sitting on top of it. Soonyoung greets him and asks him how he’s doing, hoping to dispel some of the tension rapidly spreading through the room as people realize he’s brought out the first impression ‘rose’.

“I’m just leaving this here for Rose.” Sihyuk states as he sets the tray down on the coffee table. “I’ll see all of you in a bit.” He leaves the room as quickly as he entered, all eyes in the room now on the first impression ‘rose’.

~*~

Jihyo

I’m not gonna lie, I thought it was kind of comical in the first season the way everyone reacted to the first impression rose being brought in. But now that I’m actually here in this environment, I totally get it.

~*~

“This is a big deal~” Dua comments. “Yoongi got the first impression rose last season, and he’s now currently in a relationship with Jimin. So, whoever gets this rose tonight, it definitely could pave the way for them to being with Rose at the end of this.”

“Well with Jimin,” Yerim responds, “he didn’t give Yoongi the first impression rose because of romantic feelings, he did it because he thought it would be fun to keep Yoongi around a bit longer and it just ended up being a coincidence that they fell in love with each other. I believe that Rose wouldn’t throw away her first impression rose on something as trivial as that.”

~*~

Dua

Yoongi’s honesty is what got him the first impression rose last season, and Rose has already made it very clear that honesty is what she’s looking for tonight. So, anyone who’s being even the slightest bit dishonest better watch out, because it will come back to bite them in the ass.

~*~

Outside of the mansion, a white van pulls up. The camera pans to reveal who is inside: Sana and Jeongyeon. “Are you ready for this?” Jeongyeon asks, Sana nodding in response.

~*~

Back inside, Rose is sitting with Sehun as he talks about his family and how his father’s business got started by his grandfather.

~*~

Rose

So, I am already totally crushing on Sehun. I’ve always been a firm believer that the way a person talks about their family, unless, you know, they are completely abusive, is a great way of showing how they will be towards their second family, their significant other and kids. And there is nothing more attractive to me than someone who has close relations and talks fondly of their family. Honestly, all of these people have attractive qualities to me, they’re all great.

~*~

“I feel like we’re government spies or something.” Sana comments as she and Jeongyeon watch the screens in front of them, which are currently showing Rose’s conversation with Ariana.

~*~

Jeongyeon

Rose didn’t invite me and Sana out here just to prep her for tonight, she also wants us to be an extra set of eyes and ears for her. She is taking this very seriously and wants to make sure that another Jamie situation doesn’t happen, so we are here to check out the guys and girls and report any red flags to her.

~*~

“I have to be honest,” Ariana says as she and Rose sit down, “coming out here to be on this show and meet you is something very out of my comfort zone. But I do definitely think it’s worth the chance that something could happen between us.”

~*~

“She is so pretty~” Sana says, as Ariana giggles over something Rose says to her. “And sweet~”

~*~

Jeongyeon

So far, I’ve definitely seen a lot of really amazing people that I definitely do see as a possible match for Rose. However, I am on the lookout for someone that was brought to my attention on Twitter last night.

~*~

“It’s not Jungkook, is it?” Sana asks Jeongyeon as he sits down with Rose for their conversation.

Jeongyeon is quick to shake her head. “It’s definitely not anyone that was here last season. They’re all good, no doubt in my mind about that.”

~*~

Jeongyeon

Someone reached out to me on Twitter last night and shared that she was currently dating one of the guys who would be participating this season. I was skeptical at first, but then she sent me screenshots of texts and selfies the two of them had taken with time stamps, and they definitely were in a relationship literally two days ago. So, I’m definitely watching for if and when he’ll appear.

~*~

“So, I obviously have some concerns…” Rose starts off her conversation with Jungkook.

The male chuckles a bit. “I’d be worried if you didn’t.”

Rose decides not to beat around the bush with Jungkook. “Three months ago, you were in love with Jimin, ready to spend the rest of your life with him. And now you’re suddenly here as if none of that happened. How can I know that you aren’t still in love with him? How do I know that this isn’t some sort of rebound?”

“I definitely understand how it seems, and if you choose to not believe me after this, I wouldn’t blame you.” Jungkook says sincerely. “I was definitely in a lot of pain for a while after Jimin rejected me, but about a month after the final ceremony, I had an epiphany. What I felt for Jimin wasn’t, like, true, soulmate love, or anything like that. It was a kind of puppy love, he was the first to make me feel like that, and I’d already had a lot of admiration for him. It’s like the first crush or boyfriend you have in high school and think you’re going to be with forever, and then you later realize that they aren’t the one for you and you’re at peace with that.”

Rose nods in understanding. “So, did you have this epiphany before or after you dove behind a trash can to avoid him?”

Jungkook quickly starts to defend himself as Rose laughs. “Okay, let me clear something up, I wasn’t avoiding him. I knew he was going to be at the company building that day, and I knew there was a very good chance that I would run into him, and I was completely ready to talk to him and bury the past. But then Yoongi was there with him, and I thought it might be awkward with all three of us, so I was trying to avoid an awkward situation.”

“Okay~” Rose says as if she doesn’t fully believe him, but it’s only a form of teasing him.

She speaks to Taehyung next, and asks him the same question. “How do I know that you aren’t going to use me as some sort of rebound from Jimin?”

“Well, that depends on your definition of rebound.” Taehyung says honestly. “If you’re asking if I’m using you as a way to get over Jimin, no that is not why I’m here. I may have not been the best person last time, but I would never string someone along just to get over someone else. I don’t play with people’s feelings. But this is kind of a rebound in the sense that I want to get back in the game, because I don’t want to shut out the possibility of love just because it didn’t work out for me last time. I saw this as another chance for me, and I decided to take it.”

~*~

“Taehyung and Jungkook seemed to have matured a lot in a short period of time.” Jeongyeon comments. “Not that they were immature before, but they definitely had more of a boyish charm to them.”

Sana hums her agreement. “Yeah, and now they’re both men.”

~*~

Rose leads Jihoon by the hand to a bench outside to have their conversation.

~*~

Jeongyeon sits up straight. “That’s him! That’s the guy!” On the screen, Jihoon is telling Rose about how he hasn’t had a girlfriend since high school and that he’s at a point in his life where he wants a serious relationship. After, he changes the conversation to music, Rose’s eyes lighting up with passion.

“What a *bleep*~” Sana comments as they listen to the conversation.

“We gotta tell her, like, immediately.” Jeongyeon comments as Jihoon and Rose end their conversation with a hug.

~*~

Sihyuk enters the living room where most of the contestants are milling about. “I’m looking for Rose, have any of you seen her?”

“She’s somewhere~” Wendy informs him, having just gotten back from her own conversation with her. “I think she’s talking to Minho now.” Sihyuk thanks her and heads outside to look for them.

“He was definitely on a mission~” Sooyoung comments.

~*~

Sihyuk finds Rose just as she’s wrapping up her conversation with Minho. “Hey, I need to talk to you~”

“Oh, okay~” Rose follows Sihyuk, ending up by Jeongyeon and Sana who are now standing outside of the van.

After a round of hugs, Rose asks them what’s up. “How are you feeling about Jihoon?”

“Um, I thought he was sweet, I’d definitely like to talk to him more at some point.”

Jeongyeon nods. “You might change your mind, because he has a girlfriend.” Rose’s eyes widen in disbelief. “His girlfriend reached out to me, sent me screenshots and pictures of them. She described their most recent date, which was on Friday.”

“Friday?!” Rose exclaims. “That was only two days ago!”

~*~

The contestants are currently sharing stories of their conversations as Rose reenters the house, obviously not happy. “Yo, Jihoon~” The male looks up in confusion. “You and I need to have a little chat.”

Jihoon hesitantly stands up and follows Rose back outside. “That does not seem like a first impression rose chat.” Seulgi states.

“I definitely would not want to be him right now~” Junhoe comments.

Outside, Jihoon asks Rose what’s up. “Well apparently you having a girlfriend is ‘what’s up’.” Rose rests her chin in her hand, staring at Jihoon as she waits for his response.

Jihoon’s eyes widen slightly. “I don’t-I don’t have a girlfriend.”

“That’s funny, because I heard that you do have a girlfriend.”

Jihoon swallows and licks his lips before responding. “I did casually date someone prior to this, but it wasn’t serious, she was never my girlfriend, and it ended long before I came out here.”

“I didn’t realize Friday was ‘long before’.” Rose retorts. “Do you understand how *bleep* that is of you? How unfair that is to me, to everyone in that room over there, and especially to that poor girl that you were just ‘casually dating’?”

“It’s not unfair to anyone, because I came out here hoping to pursue a serious relationship with you.” Jihoon attempts to defend himself. “There are two people in there who were in love with someone not too long ago, you were just dating someone not that long ago, and you’re currently dating 29 other people, so I find it unfair that you’re upset with me for going out to dinner with someone a couple of days ago.”

Rose scoffs. “That is completely different, and you know it. I literally said from the beginning that what I wanted was honesty. Jungkook and Taehyung have been honest with me. And I have been honest with all of you. You know who hasn’t been honest? You. So…” Rose stands up. “Let’s go~”

“What-“

“Come on~” Rose forces Jihoon to stand up and practically drags him back into the house, where the other 29 contestants act like they hadn’t just been trying to eavesdrop on their conversation, and to the front door. “Have fun with your girlfriend!” Rose calls out to him before slamming the door on him.

Rose walks back into the living room where the contestants are sitting in an awkward silence. “Jihoon is a piece of *bleep*.” Rose says, some of the contestants’ eyes widening in surprise. “If anyone else here has a girlfriend or boyfriend back home, then the door is right there just waiting for you to walk through it.” Rose waits a few seconds before continuing. “I really would like to just move on and continue this night as if nothing happened, but it really wouldn’t be fair to any of you if I were to talk to you when I’m in this current mindset, so I just need a few minutes to calm down and get back in the right mindset.”

~*~

Jaehyun

I honestly can’t believe Jihoon right now. Like, what was the dude thinking? And now Rose is extremely upset, and I just feel a pull in my gut thinking about the look on her face when she came into the room looking for him.

~*~

As the group of contestants continue to bash Jihoon, Jisoo quietly gets up from her seat and heads outside to find Rose, who is sniffling as she tries to control the tears that are trying to come out. “Hi,” she greets. “I know you said you needed a few minutes, but I still wanted to come check on you and just see how you’re doing.” Rose smiles gratefully at her.

~*~

Jisoo

I feel like Rose really needs someone to talk to right now, so I made the decision to go outside and just check on her and maybe comfort her a bit.

~*~

“I can’t exactly tell you that it’s okay or anything, because I’m not in your shoes, I don’t know exactly what you are feeling at this moment.” Jisoo says to her as they sit on a bench outside. “But I can tell you that you do have a group of a lot of amazing people who definitely won’t lie to you, especially about something like having a girlfriend, so don’t worry too much about that asshole.”

Rose laughs a bit, thanking Jisoo for talking to her.

~*~

Rose

That whole situation with Jihoon definitely took a lot out of me, but Jisoo was really sweet and able to bring my mood up much quicker than if I had tried to cheer up by myself, so I’m definitely thankful to her for that.

~*~

“I can’t even imagine the anger you must feel at Jihoon right now.” Hyojin comments during her conversation with Rose. “Are you okay?”

“I was definitely frustrated at first, but now I’m kind of like ‘whatever’. There’s no point in me dwelling on it when he’s gone now, and I have a room full of people that I need to be focusing my energy and attention on.”

~*~

Rose

It definitely hurt that someone would come on this show not for me but for some kind of personal gain, but what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

~*~

“No one deserves that~” Jaebum tells Rose. “What Jihoon did was *bleep* and I don’t even know why anyone would think that doing that would be okay. I just hope you know that you’re better than that and don’t deserve him or anyone who would even consider being unfaithful and dishonest.”

~*~

Rose

I am very grateful that everyone has been validating my feelings and making sure that I’m okay rather than trying to capitalize on any vulnerability and promoting themselves. I’ve definitely got a great group of people.

~*~

“I was actually extremely worried that I would be rejected from the beginning and almost didn’t even come out here because of fear.” Seungyoon admits. “But now I’m really glad I pushed through and went on After the Final Rose, because you were very affirming and made me extremely comfortable even though I was sweating buckets and nervous as hell. And even now, I still feel that comfort with you.”

Rose smiles at him. “I’m glad I make you comfortable.”

Their conversation continues for a bit, both expressing how excited they are to get to know each other more, when Rose suddenly leans forward and presses her lips to Seungyoon’s. His eyes are wide with surprise as she pulls away just a few seconds later. “Was that okay?”

Seungyoon nods. “More than okay, you can do that as much as you want.” Rose giggles, pressing her lips to Seungyoon’s again.

~*~

The contestants are gathered in the living room after everyone has had a conversation with Rose. The bachelorette returns from an interview, grabbing the first impression rose from the coffee table. “Jisoo, can you come with me for a second?”

Disappointed looks spread throughout the room as Rose and Jisoo leave the room. “I really appreciate how you came to check on me earlier when I was struggling a bit. You dedicated your conversation time to making sure I was okay rather than actively trying to put your best food forward and catch my attention. Not a lot of people would do that, which is why I am giving you this rose.”

There is obvious surprise in Jisoo’s eyes as she takes the picture from Rose. “I feel like this is a moment where I’m supposed to kiss you out of excitement or something.”

Rose giggles and shrugs. “Hey, if you feel that it’s right.” Jisoo giggles with her, the both of them leaning in until their lips meet in the middle for a soft, sweet kiss.

~*~

Jisoo

I really wasn’t expecting to get the first impression rose. Like, it wasn’t even really on my mind. I mean, I of course was aware that one would be given out and I was a bit curious about who would get it, but I didn’t necessarily make it my priority. Why stress myself out so much on the first night instead of just being myself and natural? But I did get it, and now I’m very happy.

~*~

Shortly after everyone is settled back in the living room, Sihyuk enters the room to announce that it’s time to prepare for the first rose ceremony. Rose takes the time to once again thank everyone for being there and for being honest and sweet with her.

Chapter Text

The 29 men and women stand across the room from the table currently holding a stack of the pictures of herself that Rose will be handing out during this ceremony.

~*~

Chaeyoung

Watching Jimin’s season in no way prepared me for just how tense it is standing there, waiting for the rose ceremony to get started and wondering if I will be getting a rose or not. Honestly, the stress levels right now are just about the same as during finals week.

~*~

Rose enters the room with a smile on her face, however the way that she fidgets with her fingers does show that she is feeling a level of nervousness.

~*~

Chaeyoung

Rose did try her best to talk to every single one of tonight, but after the whole Jihoon issue, a lot of us didn’t get to have as much time as the others or as we would have had that not happened. So, I do worry that those of us that had to get squished in during the tail end of the night may be disadvantaged.

~*~

“Hi, everyone~” Rose greets, earning a murmur of a response from most of the contestants. “I have thought long and hard about what to do here and which decisions to make, and I definitely underestimated just how difficult it actually is. Obviously, the number one thing I’m looking for is honesty, followed closely by who’s values match closely with mine. With that, if you don’t get a rose tonight, it doesn’t automatically mean that I believe you were dishonest. It means that even though I think you are an amazing person who deserves happiness and love just as much as anyone else, I just didn’t quite see our values lining up at this moment.”

The camera pans over the contestants, showing the nerves exuding from all of them, except for Yixing and Jisoo as they already have their roses for the night. Rose picks up the first picture from the table and looks back over the group one last time before stating her first decision with a smile on her face. “Jungkook~” Jungkook is already thanking her with his signature bunny smile as he walks up to Rose. “Jungkook, will you accept this rose?”

“Definitely~” He says, accepting the picture from her before walking back to his spot, some less than happy expressions shown on the faces of some of the contestants.

Rose picks up the second picture and takes a moment before calling out the next name. “Chanyeol~” Chanyeol walks up to Rose with a smile. “Chanyeol, will you accept this rose?”

“Yes, I will~” He hugs her after taking the picture before walking back to his spot.

~*~

Sooyoung

I am here to find love.

~*~

“Taehyung~”

~*~

Sooyoung

My conversation with Rose was at the end of the night after the whole Jihoon fiasco, so it only lasted a couple of minutes.

~*~

“Taehyung, will you accept this rose?”

“Of course~”

~*~

Sooyoung

I didn’t get that time to really set the foundation for a potential relationship, so I am worried that I could go home tonight.

~*~

“Seungyoon~” The male breathes out in relief before stepping forward. “Seungyoon, will you accept this rose?”

“Yes, thank you!”

~*~

Seulgi

We didn’t get a substantial amount of time tonight, but I am hopeful that she saw or felt something that makes her want to pursue something with me.

~*~

“Ariana~” Ariana gives a small cheer as she steps forward from her spot.

~*~

Seulgi

Tonight is the first big hurdle in getting to establish a relationship with Rose, so if she just sees enough potential to keep me past tonight, then that would be great.

~*~

“Ariana, will you accept this rose?”

“Yeah, I do~”

~*~

Seulgi

I am aware that this could turn out like last time, but I’m trying not to focus on that too much because that will just put me in a mindset that will set me up for that outcome.

~*~

“Dua~” Dua comes forward with a bright smile. “Dua, will you accept this rose?” Dua nods and takes the picture from her, giving her a hug before walking back to her spot.

Rose picks up another rose, barely wasting any moment before calling out her next choice. “Joohyun~” Joohyun walks forward with a hint of confidence. “Joohyun, will you accept this rose?”

“Of course, I will~”

~*~

Jennie

She keeps calling people forward and I’m, like, trying to send her some telepathic message to just pick me already.

~*~

“Kyungsoo~”

~*~

Jennie

I know that this can sound bad, but I just really do not want to be eliminated during the first night.

~*~

“Seulgi~”

~*~

Jennie

I am definitely here for the chance of love and to see if there’s something with Rose, I’m not just here as a rose collector, but I do know how it feels to be in the first batch of people eliminated, and I just do not want to experience that again.

~*~

“Jihyo~”

~*~

Jennie

But with everyone person who walks past me to get to Rose, the more it seems like that’s what will happen again.

~*~

“Jihyo, will you accept this rose?”

“I will always accept a rose from you.” Jihyo answers with a small smile.

~*~

Jennie

It definitely doesn’t hurt any less the second time around.

~*~

“Tzuyu~” The girl walks forward. “Tzuyu, will you accept this rose?” Tzuyu nods, accepting her picture.

~*~

Jaehyun

Rose is a beautiful person and I can definitely see myself falling hard for her. But I did get less time than I had hoped for tonight, so I hope that doesn’t play a deciding factor tonight.

~*~

“Jennie~”

~*~

Jaehyun

It would definitely be hard walking out of here without having gotten a single rose, because that’s just proof that she doesn’t see any potential whatsoever.

~*~

“Jennie, will you accept this rose?”

“Oh my god, yes!”

~*~

Jaehyun

The hardest part of this is definitely the waiting game.

~*~

“Sehun~”

~*~

Jaehyun

Will I or will I not get a rose? That’s literally all that goes through your head when you’re standing there, watching others getting called up to accept their roses.

~*~

“Sehun, will you accept this rose?

“I’m honored to accept this rose.”

Rose picks up the next picture and looks over the group before calling another name. “Lisa~”

~*~

Minho

I honestly didn’t see myself getting worked up over this whole rose thing.

~*~

“Lisa, will you accept this rose?”

“Nothing would make me happier.”

~*~

Minho

But now I’m here and I’m definitely having a lot of feelings right now over the fact that I haven’t gotten a rose yet, and very well might not get one at all.

~*~

“Yerim~” Yerim jokingly clutches her chest in relief as she comes forward.

~*~

Minho

I have definitely already fallen for Rose more than I ever thought I could after only a few minutes.

~*~

“Yerim, will you accept this rose?”

“100%~”

~*~

Minho

I will definitely be upset if I don’t get a rose tonight.

~*~

“Chaeyoung~” The girl walks forward with a smile. “Chaeyoung, will you accept this rose?”

“Absolutely~”

“Sooyoung, will you accept this rose?”

“Sure, yeah, of course!”

~*~

Jongin

I am definitely extremely worried right now. I do not want to go home on the first night.

~*~

“Jaebum~”

~*~

Jongin

It would suck if my second attempt at finding love had an even worse outcome than the first.

~*~

“Jaebum, will you accept this rose?”

“Forever and always~”

~*~

Jongin

I don’t even know what I would tell my friends and family this time around.

~*~

“Jaehyun~” Jaehyun lets out a big breath of relief as he bounds over to Rose to accept his picture.

~*~

Jongin

I will definitely be devastated if I don’t get a rose tonight.

~*~

“Jaehyun, will you accept this rose?”

“There’s not a thing in this world that would make me say no.”

After Jaehyun returns to his spot, Sihyuk enters the room. “Rose, ladies, gentlemen, it’s the final rose tonight.” He turns to Rose and gives her arm a gentle squeeze. “When you’re ready~”

Rose picks up the final picture, looking over the group one last time before stating the name of the final recipient. “Jongin~” A smile spreads across Jongin’s face as he walks forward. “Jongin, will you accept this rose?”

“Yes, I will, thank you~”

Once Jongin has returned to his spot, Sihyuk returns. “Ladies, gentlemen, I’m sorry. If you haven’t received a rose, take a moment, say your goodbyes.” The seven nonrecipients take their time telling the other contestants how nice it was to meet them before heading to say goodbye to Rose.

~*~

Hyojin

Of course, I am upset that I don’t get to pursue a relationship with Rose, but in the end, I can see she’s happy with her decisions, and that’s really what’s most important.

~*~

Daesung

It is disappointing that I came out here for what some would see as nothing. But God intended for me to have this experience for a reason and intended for it to end this way for me, so I am grateful for that.

~*~

Soonyoung

It really sucks that I won’t get to spend more time with Rose or see where things take us, but I don’t want to go home all bitter, so I’m doing my best to stay on the positive side of things. Such as, I don’t have to worry about unwillingly getting dragged into drama, I don’t have to date someone that I have to share, there’s actually quite a few plus sides to this when you think about it.

~*~

Wendy

I think the thing that disappoints me the most is that my values must not line up with Rose’s the way I thought they would. It makes me wonder exactly what it is that she’s looking for if I don’t meet that criteria.

~*~

Minho

I feel like if a certain few people hadn’t been given another chance so quickly, I probably would have gotten a better chance to connect with Rose and find that potential for a healthy relationship.

~*~

Ashley

Definitely wish that Rose gave me more of a chance, but if it wasn’t meant to happen, then it wasn’t meant to happen.

~*~

Junhoe

I definitely did not expect to get sent home so early. I was really looking forward to getting to know Rose further and getting to go on dates with her and everything that other people will be doing with her.

~*~

Sihyuk brings out a tray of champagne for the group to toast to the next step in the journey.

Chapter Text

Rose

The dates are starting today, which means the integral part of this whole process is beginning. I can’t wait to get to know everyone more and see who exactly fits in with my wants and needs. I want someone who’s honest, someone who’s genuine, someone who is secure and confident in who they are. And these dates will help me find that person.

~*~

The 22 remaining contestants are relaxing around the mansion, just enjoying their time as they wait for Sihyuk to appear with the first date card.

~*~

Jaehyun

It’s a beautiful day, the sun is shining, it’s not too hot or too cold, it’s the perfect day for the start to an amazing love story between me and Rose.

~*~

“You all better treat my girlfriend nice when you go on a date with her.” Jongin says playfully over his cup of coffee.

“I’ll definitely treat ‘your’ girlfriend nice.” Jaebum plays along with him, the other contestants in their small group laughing along.

~*~

Chaeyoung

Another day, another opportunity to get to know Rose more and establish even more of a connection. I’m very excited to get this ball rolling.

~*~

Yerim is busy exploring the mansion. “This place is amazing!” She gushes. “No wonder some of them wanted to come back this season, I would return just for the house alone.”

~*~

Sehun

I can definitely see myself falling in love with Rose. I’m not going to get too far ahead of myself, but if it were to be me she chooses in the end, I would be the happiest guy in the world.

~*~

The 22 contestants are then gathered in the living room just in time for Sihyuk to walk in. “Welcome to the mansion, everyone~” Sihyuk greets, before looking at a few select people in the room. “And for some, welcome back~” The contestants cheer in response. “Obviously Rose sees potential in all of you, and that’s why you are sitting here right now. What were some of your thoughts walking in here last night?”

Lisa answers. “I was so nervous when I stepped out of the limo. I was stressing over my introduction, like was I too forward, was I not forward enough, things like that were definitely on my mind.”

“And how about our First Impression Rose?”

Jisoo blushes slightly as everyone looks at her for her response. “I definitely wasn’t expecting to get it, I just went in there with the intention of being myself and hoping she would like me, and I ended up with way more than I’d anticipated.”

Sihyuk nods before speaking again. “Rose is an amazing woman, and I hope you see just how seriously she is taking this and how seriously she is taking all of you.” The contestants nod in response. “So, are you guys ready to get started?” The contestants all verbalize their confirmation. “Great, because I have the first date card here.” Sihyuk sets the envelope down on the coffee table before leaving.

Jennie steps forward to open the card and read it. “Jihyo~”

“Really?” The singer is obviously surprised that she has been chosen for the first date of the journey.

“Ariana~” Ariana smiles widely after hearing her name. “Yixing~” Yixing lets out a small cheer. “Jisoo~”

“Yay!” Jisoo bounces slightly as she claps in excitement.

“Jaehyun~” Jaehyun lets out a breath of relief and falls back against the couch. “Seulgi~” Seulgi smiles in response. “Sooyoung~” She high fives the people sitting around her as Jennie states the final name. “Taehyung~” Taehyung doesn’t show too big of a reaction as Jennie finishes reading the card. “You make my heart race~

~*~

Kyungsoo

It is definitely a bit disappointing to not hear your name being read off, but it’s still really early, so I’m not gonna get too in my head about it. There are two other dates this week, so all’s good.

~*~

Rose is standing by a racetrack as she waits for the group of eight to arrive for their date.

~*~

Rose

I am so excited for this date! It’s gonna be so much fun!

~*~

The group finally arrives at the racetrack, Yixing getting the first hug from Rose as she greets all of them.

~*~

Rose

Even though I could get at least a slight idea of what everyone was like during that first cocktail party, I didn’t necessarily get to know them enough to actually understand who they each are as a person yet. Everyone was super tense and nervous, and I was a little bit too. Today is all about letting loose and having fun…plus a competitive atmosphere can really make someone show their true self.

~*~

“I wanted today to just be very fun with a hint of competition.” Rose explains. “So, we are go kart racing.”

~*~

Sooyoung

I am not the biggest fan of activities like this, so I was definitely a little put off when Rose said we would be driving go karts. From the date card, I thought it would be, like, some kind of relay race or obstacle course. But I am going to make an effort to enjoy myself for Rose, because that’s what you do in relationships. You try out or take interest in your partner’s interests to show that you do care about and respect them.

~*~

The employees of the racetrack explain the rules and guidelines before getting everyone fitted for a helmet.

~*~

Ariana

I haven’t been go karting since I was in elementary school, so let’s see how well I do today.

~*~

Everyone drives around the track a few times, getting a feel for the cars. They all burst into laughter anytime someone makes a mistake or bumps into someone else. Overall, everyone enjoys themselves.

~*~

Rose

I don’t care if they’re good at this or not, I just want to see who can have fun regardless of if they ‘lose’ or not. Having fun is the whole point of this.

~*~

During a break in driving, Rose talks to Jisoo for a brief moment. “I’m really excited to talk to you more today.”

“Well, you’ll definitely be hearing me more.” Jisoo responds. “Because I am for sure going to be screaming constantly during this race.” She and Rose giggle.

~*~

Yixing

I have a feeling that this date actually goes a bit deeper than what we can see. Like, racing can get very stressful and intense. From what we saw during Jimin’s season, this show can get very stressful and intense, especially towards the end. I think Rose might be trying to see who might possibly crack under that kind of pressure if they were to get that far. I’m not one of those people.

~*~

When it comes time for the actual race, Rose turns in her helmet so she can witness the event. The eight contestants retreat to their individual cars to prepare.

~*~

Jisoo

Yeah, I like games…when they’re on a screen and only require my fingers to play and there’s a very low risk of getting injured. Stuff like this, definitely not my forte.

~*~

An employee signals for the race to start and the eight of them fly around the track, Jisoo definitely being heard as she screams any time someone gets too close to her.

~*~

Rose

Even though there are some people who were apprehensive about this, I can tell that everyone’s having fun. Which means my goal was achieved.

~*~

Clips of the race are shown in between interview scenes of the contestants.

~*~

Sooyoung

I gotta admit this is definitely way more fun than I originally expected, but it’s still not something that I particularly enjoy or would want to do again.

~*~

Jaehyun

Rose has been smiling and laughing this entire day, and it just makes my heart warm seeing her enjoying herself so much. Her enjoying her day makes me enjoy my day.

~*~

A clip of Seulgi overtaking multiple contestants in a row and shooting to the lead plays.

~*~

Rose

I really never expect Seulgi to be any form of aggressive in any situation. Like, she’s always so sweet and nice, but now out on the track, she’s an absolute beast!

~*~

In the last second of the race, Taehyung shoots forward, passing the finish line just before Seulgi. After a round of congratulations, everyone leaves the racetrack to get ready for the dinner portion of their date.

~*~

“I had so much fun today!” Rose exclaims after they all sit down. “I hope you guys had fun too!” The eight contestants agree that they had fun too. “I loved just watching all of you interact and everything today. You were all great sports, none of you got mad or threw a fit over winning or gloated over others for losing. You just let loose, and that’s something I really liked to see.”

~*~

Ariana

Today definitely was a lot of fun, but I am glad that the whole race was just for fun and not to like gain a spot at dinner or get yourself a rose or something. Because if that had been the case, I probably would have been slightly upset over Taehyung winning, as he does already have a slight advantage over the rest of us.

~*~

Taehyung is the lucky recipient of the first conversation of the night, walking off with Rose to a more private area. Once they’re gone, Sooyoung speaks up. “What are your honest opinions about Taehyung and Jungkook being here?” She looks around at the other contestants. “Like, what are your thoughts on that?”

Jihyo responds first. “I mean, I can see why some people might be a little put off or worried about their presence and intentions, but I think that at the end of the day, if they’re here for love like the rest of us, then there’s no reason for there to be any problems.”

“I do think that it is somewhat questionable that they would be here when just a few months ago they were both in love with someone else.” Yixing says. “But as long as they don’t attempt to stir drama or step over any boundaries, then I’m fine with them.”

“I think they’re both great and really nice and are here for honest reasons.” Jisoo chimes in last.

~*~

“I’m not gonna lie, I was really surprised to hear my name called out for this first date.” Taehyung says. “I actually kind of expected to be one of those people who didn’t get a date in the first week.”

Rose nods that she understands. “Well you are someone that I definitely wanted to talk to again as soon as possible.” Taehyung tilts his head slightly as Rose goes. “I’m asking for everyone to be honest with me, so it would be wrong for me not to be honest with all of you in return.”

“This feels like the beginning of a breakup speech.” Taehyung laughs slightly out of nervousness.

Rose giggles with him. “No, nothing like that.” Rose pauses for a moment before continuing. “I trust you and your intentions fully; I don’t want you to doubt that I do believe you. You told me from the start that you aren’t really here for me quite yet, you’re here for you, and most people probably would not have been too happy to here that, but I was, because it let me know that you are telling the truth and being honest with me. But I do still have a slight wall up, because we weren’t exactly the best of friends last season, and your breakup with Jimin is still pretty fresh.” Taehyung nods. “But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try at all with you. I wouldn’t have kept you past the first night if I felt like there was absolutely no hope for us. But we might move a bit slower than I might with the others, and I just wanted you to know that from the beginning so that you don’t get discouraged or anything.”

Taehyung gives her a small smile. “Thank you for telling me, I would probably prefer a bit of a slower build too.”

“Good, then we’re on the same page!”

~*~

Rose

I really enjoyed my conversation with Taehyung, and I feel good after it. We’re both on the same page with where this could go, and I take that as a good sign. Taehyung is a nice guy and he’s very handsome too, so that wall could be falling down sooner than I expect.

~*~

“What’s up, guys?” Taehyung asks as he rejoins the other contestants.

The others return the greeting quietly as he sits down. “How’d your conversation go?”

Taehyung shrugs slightly. “It went fine. We just talked about kind of what we were looking for and made sure we were on the same page.”

~*~

Taehyung

I have big eyes and ears for a reason, I’ve seen and heard that the other contestants are less than thrilled about me being here.

~*~

Ariana and Rose’s conversation is full of giggles as Ariana reenacts some moments from the race that day.

~*~

Taehyung

Last time, I was very impulsive, and I ended up starting some drama that very easily could have been avoided had I taken the time to think things over before acting.

~*~

“You were awesome today!” Rose’s exclamation earns a quiet thank you for Seulgi. “I really was not expecting that, and it makes me excited for what other surprises you might have in store.”

Seulgi smiles. “I guess we shall see.”

~*~

Taehyung

I want to be different this time around, so I’m not going to take any bait that people who don’t want me here might dangle in front of me. I’m going to stay in my line.

~*~

Jaehyun is the next to have a conversation with Rose. “I’ve never actually left Korea.” Jaehyun reveals to Rose, much to her surprise. “I am very much a homebody; I have a little comfort zone that I don’t like to leave.” He intertwines his fingers with hers. “But for you, I would definitely take a trip Down Under.” Rose awws until Jaehyun says, “Take that however you want.” Realizing the implication, Rose laughs and playfully hits Jaehyun’s arm.

~*~

Taehyung

I’m having a good feeling about this so far, though.

~*~

“You were great today.” Rose tells Jisoo, who snorts in response.

“I was an entire lap behind everyone else and I’m pretty sure I was going the wrong way at one point.”

Rose laughs with her. “Yeah, but you were being yourself. You didn’t force yourself to like it or beat yourself up over not being ‘good’ like the others. You were definitely the most fun to watch today.”

“That’s kind of my philosophy.” Jisoo says after she finishes laughing. “There’s always gonna be moments in life where you have to do something you don’t particularly like, so I always try to find a way to have fun. It’s way better than being miserable and suffering the whole time.”

Rose smiles at Jisoo. “I like that philosophy.” She says, earning a quiet thank you from the older female. “And I like you.” Jisoo blushes slightly as Rose leans in. Jisoo leans forward too so she can meet Rose in the middle. Their second kiss lasts longer than the first, and Rose even experiments with taking it a bit deeper before pulling away.

~*~

Rose

Today was great, and everyone was great, but there is something that’s pulling me towards Jisoo a bit. I don’t know if it’s residual emotions from the first night or what, but there’s just something about her that I’m very much attracted to at this moment.

~*~

After having conversations with Jihyo, Yixing, and Sooyoung, Rose returns for the final part of the date: the giving of the rose.

~*~

Rose

There’s not going to be any super deep meaning to the rose tonight, it’s just going to the person who caught my attention the most today.

~*~

“Every single one of you was amazing today. I had so much fun with all of you and I can’t wait to have more moments like today with all of you…but I do only have one rose, and I want to give this rose to Jisoo.” Jisoo smiles brightly as Rose gestures for her to come over. Everyone claps politely as she gets up and walks over to Rose. “Jisoo, will you accept this Rose?”

“I’d love to~” Jisoo says as she takes the picture from Rose.

~*~

Jisoo

I’m about to implode, because I really wasn’t expecting this. But I am very happy to have received the first date rose and I am definitely ecstatic to be able to get at least one more date with Rose.

~*~

Rose smiles at everyone. “I just want to thank all of you again for today and I’ll see you all again soon!” She goes around to hug everyone. “Have a good night!”

Chapter Text

During the group date

Everyone not on the date is gathered in the living room, waiting for the next date card. “I’m actually glad to not be on the first group date.” Jongin comments. “Because from experience, and I’m sure Jungkook and Chanyeol can agree with me, people who go on the first date don’t get the time to mentally prepare for it because they have to leave, like, immediately after getting that card.”

“Actually, I was a bit too busy pitying myself last time because I didn’t get a date at all the first week.” Jungkook points out as he eats a bag of chips, but because of the smile on his face everyone knows that he’s not trying to be rude in any way. “So, I can’t fully agree with you, but I definitely can see that.” Jongin comments that he’s sure Jungkook will get a date this time around.

“Who do you think’s, like, the star of this date or whatever?” Chaeyoung asks.

Jaebum is the one to respond. “Jisoo got the first impression rose, so there’s a good chance she’s holding Rose’s attention. And then Taehyung too, because of their whole thing last season-“ Before Jaebum could finish his short list of possible frontrunners, the doorbell rings.

Everyone went silent immediately, Yerim getting up after a few seconds to go retrieve the card.

~*~

Sehun

Rose and I had a really good first conversation. It was good enough that I wouldn’t necessarily be worried if I didn’t get the first one on one. But I would be a little upset, because who wouldn’t be upset about not getting the one on one. Every one on one is so important because it’s Rose’s way of saying ‘you are who I’m interested in enough to want an entire day with you’, but the first one is especially important because that shows who has really impressed her and can set the tone for what type she has or what she may be looking for.

~*~

Yerim stands in front of the group of 14 people to read off the date card. “Jungkook~” The male looks up with wide eyes, hand frozen in mid air as he was about to eat another chip, obviously having not expected his name to be called out. “Let’s make some happy memories together.

Some contestants are obviously upset about Jungkook receiving the first one on one, but the majority of the group is happy for him and congratulates him. “I’m really excited~” Jungkook says with a bright smile after finishing his chip.

“There’s still another group date.” Kyungsoo directs to Dua, who is the most openly upset, misunderstanding the reason for her sour mood.

~*~

Jungkook walks out of his room completely ready for his date. “Hey, how are you feeling?” Joohyun greets him as he sits on the couch.

“I’m feeling good!” Jungkook exclaims.

Outside, Rose is walking up to the mansion to pick Jungkook up for the date.

~*~

Rose

It’s my first one on one as the bachelorette, and I am so excited for it. I know some people might question why I chose Jungkook to be the first considering his relationship with Jimin and how far it went. I personally feel like the Jungkook that is here now is a different person than he was last season. I mean, he very much is still the nice, respectful, adorable sweetheart that he is. But rather than being the shy, insecure boy that he was when I first met him, he’s now a strong, confident man, and I really like that. So, because of that difference in him, and because I didn’t really get to talk to him or get know him quite as much last season, I’m choosing to truly start on a clean slate with him. Just start from the beginning and see how things go.

~*~

Rose steps into the house, greeting everyone happily. She asks everyone how they’re doing and, after a couple of minutes of small talk, she and Jungkook leave for their date.

~*~

Rose

Jungkook is also extremely attractive, so that’s a very big plus.

~*~

“If you get sick or something and need someone to take your place, just let me know!” Lisa calls after them as they leave, making everyone laugh.

Rose and Jungkook climb into the car to head to their date destination.

~*~

Jungkook

The date card said to ‘make some happy memories’, which is a very vague statement that could mean anything. I’m very curious and excited to see what we’ll be doing today.

~*~

After they leave, Jennie decides to distract herself and the other contestants from feeling jealous or overthinking Jungkook and Rose’s date. She turns on some music and encourages the other contestants to dance with her outside by the pool.

~*~

“Have you ever gotten a mani-pedi before?” Rose asks as the car comes to a stop.

Jungkook shakes his head. “No, I haven’t~”

“Well, that’s what we’re doing today.”

~*~

Rose

From my experience, the best memories come from the simple, seemingly boring things. Like with my childhood, the things I remember most are the way my mum always packed an extra dessert in my lunch on Fridays. And with Jimin, the things I remember most from the time with him are how would always ask throughout dates if we were having fun and feeling okay and how he always preferred to be fed rather than feeding himself. So today I just wanted to have a really chill, simple day where Jungkook and I could just talk and really get to know each other. Plus, who doesn’t love a mani-pedi?

~*~

They enter the nail salon and immediately speak with who will be doing their nails. When Rose moves to pick out her chosen color, Jungkook comments that he’ll try out nail polish too. “You’re gonna get them painted too?” Rose asks in slight shock.

Jungkook nods. “Just the fingernails, to see what it’s like.”

“Go for it!” Rose encourages him.

After choosing their colors, they’re escorted to their chairs to get their pedicures started.

~*~

Jungkook

Rose is so easy to talk to and have fun with. There are absolutely no nerves right now, I’m just having a lot of fun. And pedicures are actually really relaxing. I need to get these more often.

~*~

Rose

This date is going so well. Jungkook is so funny and there’s never a lapse in conversation with him. Everything flows really naturally, and that makes me very excited for the future.

~*~

As they wait for their nails to dry, they continue to converse. “I was actually really surprised when you jumped in and chose a color for your nails. Most guys wouldn’t even come near a nail salon, let alone actually let someone paint their nails because it’s a ‘girly’ thing.”

Jungkook looks down at his now purple nails. “I didn’t realize nail polish had a gender.”

Rose giggles as Jungkook gives his signature bunny smile. “It doesn’t, but some people are idiots.” Rose looks at his nails again. “I actually really like that color on you.”

Jungkook holds his hand out near hers. “Kind of matches yours~”

Rose looks down at her own purple nails. “Yeah, just different shades.”

~*~

Jungkook

I’m happy with how today’s going so far. I don’t’ see how it could have gone any better, and I’m satisfied with the way things are going so far.

~*~

For the dinner portion of their date, Rose and Jungkook get comfortable at an outdoor table.

~*~

Rose

Today was so fun and now I’m just really excited to get to talk to Jungkook even more tonight.

~*~

“You surprised me a lot when you stepped out of that limo.” Rose says.

Jungkook smiles at her. “I did?”

Rose nods. “And not just because I wasn’t expecting you to, but you’ve changed quite a bit since we first met. Like when you started talking this time, I was like ‘this looks like Jungkook, and it sounds like Jungkook, but this can’t be Jungkook, because Jungkook is shy and quiet’.”

Rose giggles as she finishes her statement and Jungkook chuckles. “Yeah, Jimin really helped build my confidence up, and with being a trainee I have to practice how to carry myself on variety shows and during interviews, so I’ve definitely become a lot more comfortable with who I am.”

“Well, I’m really glad for that.” Rose comments. “Being comfortable with yourself and having that confidence in yourself is the most important thing a person can have, because not having that leads to a bunch of other issues in life. People need to love themselves before anything else.”

“I agree wholeheartedly~”

They converse for a bit longer before Rose picks up the picture sitting at the edge of the table. “Jungkook, I really enjoyed our time together today. I like every second of it, and I like you…” Jungkook smiles at that, whispering that he also likes Rose. “And I can’t wait to get to know you even more and explore this further, so will you accept this rose?”

Jungkook takes the picture with a smile. “Would you be okay if I kissed you right now?”

Rose smiles softly at him. “Go for it~” Jungkook smile widens briefly into his bunny smile as he leans in slowly, softly pressing his lips to Rose’s. After a few seconds, Rose takes the lead and deepens the kiss.

~*~

Jungkook

After today, I can definitely say that I do have some feelings for Rose. By the time we were sitting down to dinner, I was starting to feel those butterflies you get whenever you’re around your crush. I can’t wait to go on more dates with her.

~*~

Rose

My dates have been going really well, and I’m taking that as a good sign of what’s to come over the next couple of months. I’m having a really good feeling about how this journey will go.

During Jungkook’s Date

“All in all, things are going really smoothly here. No drama or anything yet, excluding the first night.” Chaeyoung comments as everyone waits in the living room for the arrival of the next date card. “I don’t see any reason to complain.”

“I feel like not being on a date with Rose is reason to complain.” Joohyun says with a joking tone, but it’s obvious that she is somewhat serious.

~*~

Joohyun

Sure, I got to meet Rose before all of this started, and sure we had a great conversation that first night, but overall, I haven’t really gotten to see or talk to her much. I feel like I really need to have a date with her this week just so we can have that time to get to know each other even more.

~*~

Someone knocks on the door, signaling the arrival of the date card. Jisoo gets up to retrieve it.

~*~

Joohyun

I really hope that my name is on this date card so that I can get that time with her this week.

~*~

Jisoo opens the envelope. “Are you guys ready?” She teases a bit before reading off the card.

“Jaebum~” Jaebum nods his head.

“Sehun~” Sehun receives a congratulatory pat on the back from Kyungsoo.

“Yerim…Chaeyoung~” Chaeyoung smiles as she hears her name.

“Lisa~” Jennie quietly congratulates her.

“Chanyeol…Jongin~” The two of them shake hands to congratulate each other.

“Dua…Jennie~” Jennie cheers quietly while high-fiving Lisa.

“Seungyoon…Let’s go for the gold~

As Jisoo sets the card down on the coffee table, Dua turns to look at the rest of the contestants. “Is there anyone who didn’t get a date this week?” Tzuyu, Kyungsoo, and Joohyun raise their hands.

“It kind of sucks~” Joohyun says quietly, sadness filling her features.

~*~

Present Day

Rose waits in a park, buzzing with excitement over the day’s date. A large smile spreads across her face as she sees the group of ten men and women arriving. “Rose!” They all greet excitedly, Dua reaching her first and getting the first hug.

~*~

Chanyeol

The card said, “let’s go for the gold”. From what I know of Rose and based on what the others who went on the first group date said, she is extremely competitive. So, I think I have an idea of what today is about.

~*~

Lisa

It’s date day, it’s a beautiful day, Rose is looking gorgeous as always. I’m pumped! Let’s do this!

~*~

“As some of you might have figured out by now, I am a little bit competitive.” Rose says, giggling a bit. “I enjoy a healthy, fun competition. So that’s what we’re going to have today.”

~*~

Rose

I’m really wanting to see everyone in a fun setting, but also a setting that can put a bit of pressure on them, because I feel that’s just what comes with relationships. You’re supposed to have fun and enjoy yourself with the person you love, but there will also be times of stress and pressure. I kind of want to get an idea of how they cope with moments like that.

~*~

Throughout the park, various games have been set up with a large banner stating ‘The Bachelorette Olympics’.

~*~

Yerim

There are all of these games set up and they’re calling it the ‘Olympics’, so yeah, definitely gonna be some competition going on here.

~*~

Chaeyoung

I’m not a very competitive person myself. I actually tend to stay away from things like this because there’s always one person who takes it way too far. But I am excited to branch out of my comfort zone and have fun.

~*~

The games start almost immediately, everyone putting their all into them while Rose cheers them all on.

~*~

At the mansion

Joohyun is lounging outside by the pool, her expression a mixture of boredom and sadness.

~*~

Joohyun

I am definitely disappointed over not getting a date this week. It’s really hard to see other people going on dates and forming connections with Rose while I’m just stuck here day after day.

~*~

At the date

The games continued late into the afternoon until it came time to announce the recipients of the gold medal. “And the winner is…Yerim!” Rose announces, putting a handmade gold medal around Yerim’s neck.

“Look, Eomma, I have a gold medal!” Yerim exclaims to the camera.

~*~

They arrive at the location for the dinner portion of their date, the group, as always, marveling over the beauty of the area.

~*~

Jongin

Today was so much fun. It was probably the best date I’ve been on in a while.

~*~

“I had so much fun watching y’all today.” Rose says. “There weren’t any sore winners or sore loser, so I thank all of you for that. It was great getting to watch everyone have fun, and thanks for letting me join in on some games with y’all.”

~*~

Seungyoon

Today was very enjoyable, and the fact that Rose enjoyed herself too just made it ten times better.

~*~

“Chanyeol, you wanna head out?” Rose asks, choosing her friend as the first conversation for the night.

“Yeah, let’s go!” Chanyeol says, following Rose to a more private area.

~*~

Seungyoon

I can tell from the first night and from hearing about the first group date that Rose really tries to make sure everyone gets our time with her, so I am very excited for when it’ll be my turn.

~*~

“I’m really glad you’re here.” Rose tells Chanyeol, their hands intertwined and resting on Chanyeol’s thigh. “I mean, I was really surprised at first, but now I’m just really happy.”

“You are?” Chanyeol asks.

Rose nods in response. “This is kind of, like, a scary experience for me. You know, dating a ton of people that I don’t really know anything about, and having to be even more open and vulnerable on camera than I had to be last season. So, it’s nice to have someone that I already know pretty well on the inside to keep me grounded.” She smiles up at him. “You’re kind of like my anchor.”

Chanyeol returns the smile. “I’m glad I can be that for you.” A moment of silence passes between them before Chanyeol takes the chance and leans down to press his lips to hers.

~*~

Chanyeol

I don’t know if I’ll still be around a week or a month from now. But just knowing that I’m helping Rose out in a way is worth it for me.

~*~

“So, you finally got your modeling career off the ground?” Rose asks, remembering that conversation from when she and Jennie first met during the first night of Jimin’s season.

Jennie nods. “Yeah, I’ve only done one photoshoot so far but it was so much fun and I really enjoyed it.”

“And you’re already taking a break from your career to come do this?” The younger of the two has a slight teasing tone, but she is genuinely curious.

“I know that once my career really takes off, it’ll be hard for me to meet someone and date and eventually get settled down.” Jennie explains. “If I get the chance to pursue a person I have interest in now when I’m not quite as busy, then I’m gonna take that chance since I know I won’t have very many pretty soon.”

“So, you have interest in me?”

Jennie tilts her head slightly. “I am definitely intrigued and open to seeing where this goes.”

~*~

Jennie

Rose and I did have that rough patch back when we first met, but that has definitely blown over, and the fact that our conversation tonight went so smoothly just proves that. I can’t wait to get to talk to her even more and following this path.

~*~

“Advice from someone who’s been through this before,” Jongin says to the rest of the group. “Make the most of your time with her. Use it wisely. Talk about the important stuff and establish that connection, because that is what will set you back.”

~*~

Seungyoon

I’m not quite as nervous as I would be because I know that I will get to talk to Rose at some point tonight.

~*~

Jennie returns from her conversation with Rose. “Rose is so great to talk to; you guys definitely have something to look forward to.”

~*~

Seungyoon

People come back from their conversations with her and talk about her and that just makes me super excited to have my own conversation with her.

~*~

“I don’t see this as a game or anything, but you definitely need to have some kind of strategy whenever you go into a conversation with her.” Jongin adds on.

Seungyoon shrugs slightly. “I feel like just letting conversation flow naturally is better than having everything planned out. ‘I’m gonna say this at this time’ feels too forced.”

~*~

Outside of the building, a production car pulls up to the curb. The door opens to reveal Joohyun.

~*~

Joohyun

I need my time with her this week, so I’m going to make my time. I’m being very smart about this so that I don’t intrude on someone else. I’m going to wait until she’s not talking to anyone before approaching her.

~*~

“You’ve been composing since you were in middle school?” Rose asks Jaebum.

“If you count jotting down horrible rhymes in my notebooks instead of paying attention to the lesson, then yes, since middle school.”

~*~

Joohyun

I plan on getting through this without anyone other than me and Rose knowing that I was here.

~*~

After Jaebum leaves the room, and when Rose is by herself, Joohyun steps inside, surprising the bachelorette. “What’s up?” Rose asks in confusion.

“I just wanted to come see and talk to you.”

~*~

Dua sits down on the couch with the other contestants. “Well that was a really quick conversation.” Lisa comments, as Dua had left to speak to Rose after Jaebum had returned.

“I didn’t have one.” Dua responds. “Because Joohyun is in there talking to her. Everyone’s eyes widen in shock as they hear that.

“What is she doing here?” Chaeyoung asks.

“That’s really disrespectful~” Sehun adds on.

~*~

Jongin

So first we get Jihoon who wasted everyone’s time because he has a girlfriend already, and now we have Joohyun who seems to not understand that this isn’t her date. Please let this be the limit for *bleep* people.

~*~

“You know,” Seungyoon starts, “I was really excited about getting to talk to her tonight, and now I might not get to with Joohyun taking up that time.”

~*~

“So, you do understand how this isn’t okay, right?” Rose says to Joohyun. “It’s really disrespectful to both me and everyone out there right now.”

“I waited so that I could make sure I wasn’t cutting into someone else’s time.” Joohyun defends herself. “And I’m kind of confused on what you mean by disrespectful to you.”

Rose clasps her hands together. “It’s disrespectful to me because I did not invite you on this date. I pick who goes on each date for a reason, and if you’re not on that date card, there is a reason for it. And you showing up when you weren’t invited shows a lack of respect for my decisions.”

Joohyun shakes her head a bit. “That was not my intention at all, I just really wanted to get time with you before the cocktail party.”

Rose nods a bit. “I understand that, but there are still some boundaries. You could have waited until after the date was completely over and waited until everyone was home and then come and find me. Crashing a date is not the way to do it, especially when you’re supposed to be wanting to avoid drama.” Joohyun opens her mouth to explain herself again. “Because while you didn’t interrupt anyone, there are people out there that I have yet to talk to, who I now may not get to talk to because you are taking away from limited time I have. And they’re going to talk out there, and they are definitely going to be using nice words about you once they realize the reason for the hold up.”

“I’m really sorry~” Joohyun apologizes sincerely.

“Are we on the same page now?” Rose asks, and Joohyun nods in response, apologizing once more.

~*~

Rose rejoins the contestants on the date. “From the looks on your faces, I can see you all already know what happened.” Rose comments as she sits in the middle of them. “I’m really sorry about that, but it has been dealt with, so please don’t dwell on it, just move on and forget about it.” The contestants nod in response. “And I’m very sorry to those of you that I did not get to talk to tonight. As you know, we’re on a time limit, and because of our little unexpected guest, we’ve now come to the end of our night. I’ll definitely try to pull you guys aside first during the cocktail party if I can, though.”

Rose picks up the picture at the end of the table. “I want to give this rose to someone who has helped keep me calm and that I know will continue to keep me grounded as we move forward, so…Chanyeol~” Chanyeol smiles as Rose turns to him. “Will you accept this rose?”

“Absolutely~” Chanyeol says happily, taking the picture from her.

Chapter Text

Rose arrives at the mansion for the cocktail party, taking a deep breath to center herself before stepping inside.

All 22 contestants are gathered in the living room, waiting anxiously for her arrival.

“It’s really strange, thinking about how after tonight, some of us won’t even be here anymore.” Lisa comments. “I can’t even imagine any of you guys leaving.”

Other than a few hums of agreement, none of the other contestants get to respond to Lisa before Rose enters the room. “Hi, everyone!” The bachelorette greets enthusiastically, all of the contestants standing up to greet her.

“You look beautiful!” Seulgi gushes, and Rose thanks her with a slight blush to her cheeks.

Taehyung then offers her a drink, which she gratefully accepts, taking a quick sip. “Okay, speech time, I guess~” Chuckles erupt through the contestants as Rose mentally prepares herself to begin talking. “The main thing I asked of y’all was to be honest with me and be your true selves, and you all have done that, so I am immensely thankful to all of you. Every single one of you is amazing and-“ Rose stops herself as

she begins to tear up, dabbing at the corner of her eyes, careful not to smudge her makeup. “And now I’m getting emotional, okay~”

“Take your time~” Jennie says quietly from where she stands in the crowd.

When Rose is ready, she continues. “I think I kind of underestimated exactly how difficult being in this position is. I never fully understood Jimin saying ‘this has been such a hard decision’ until now because I honestly can’t imagine sending any of you home tonight, both because I think you’re all such great people, and also because we have yet to get to know each other on a level that I want to know all of you. So believe me when I say that whoever does end up going home tonight, it doesn’t have anything to do with you as a person or how I perceive your character or anything like that, it’ll just be what happens after hours of attempting to make a decision.” The contestants all murmur that they understand and Rose signals for the night to start, Taehyung jumping in to get the first conversation.

Once they’re settled outside, Rose immediately starts talking. “I’m really glad you pulled me aside first, because I kind of wanted to continue our conversation from a few days ago.”

Taehyung chuckles a bit. “That’s exactly why I pulled you aside to talk too.” Rose nods, signaling for him to go first. “I’ve been thinking over what you said a lot, and while I am thankful that you are willing to try, I don’t necessarily want you to waste your time. By that I mean, yes all of us are here have a chance to find love, but you are the bachelorette, this is all about you finding the one for you, so I don’t want you to force yourself to explore us if you don’t see any potential.” Rose’s smile grows gradually as Taehyung speaks.

“I really appreciate that, Taehyung, and you really don’t have to worry.” Rose assures him. “If I didn’t see even a tiny bit of potential, I would have sent you home the first night, so you’re definitely not wasting my time.” Taehyung smiles and mutters ‘good’ under his breath. “You only would be if you were to stay here despite knowing you don’t see any potential between us.”

Taehyung holds his hand up. “I swear, if at any point I feel like it wouldn’t work between us, I will walk out. The last thing I’d want to do is lead you on.” Rose and Taehyung giggle together as Taehyung puts his hand down, resting it on top of Rose’s. “I like your laugh~”

Rose’s cheeks start to turn pink. “Thank you, I like yours too~”

~*~

Rose

The producers of this show have done this job well, because I don’t think I could ask for anyone better to date. I mean, even the people that at the beginning I didn’t think would have good potential for a relationship have completely changed my mind and I’m all in for them. Nice job, guys~ *giggles*

~*~

After Taehyung and Rose finish their conversation, Jaehyun comes out to speak to Rose before someone else gets the chance to. “So, you’ve had a very long week.” Jaehyun starts off, Rose nodding in agreement. “I’m sure it was emotionally and mentally taxing in some ways, you know, going on three dates with 20 people.”

“Yeah, definitely~” Rose agrees.

“What I like to do when I’ve been through something even the slightest bit stressful is to get it off my chest.” Jaehyun says, pausing before adding on, “By screaming~” Rose makes a noise of curiosity. “You wanna try it with me?”

Rose nods and Jaehyun holds his hand out to help her stand up. He counts them down and then the two of them scream out into the Seoul night, both of them laughing afterward. “I never realized that would feel so good!” Rose exclaims, hugging Jaehyun as a thank you. “When did you start doing that?”

As Jaehyun explains his story, Yixing approaches the two of them. “Excuse me~” He says, causing Jaehyun to stop in the middle of his story. “Do you mind if I steal Rose for a bit?”

“Actually, he was in the middle of telling me a story.” Rose says. “Do you mind waiting for just a minute?”

“No, it’s okay~” Jaehyun says, stepping away slightly. “I can finish my story on our next date.” He states with full confidence that he’ll be getting a rose that night, turning to Yixing. “Enjoy your time~”

Rose bids Jaehyun goodbye before letting Yixing lead her to an area he set up for their time.

~*~

Yixing

Interrupting Jaehyun wasn’t something that I necessarily wanted to do or enjoy doing. But we are on limited time tonight, and I really wanted to make sure that I got to talk to Rose one more time before the ceremony. Sometimes you have to do undesirable things.

~*~

Yixing leads Rose to a blanket that’s surrounded by rose petals, a picnic basket sitting in the center. “A romantic picnic?” Rose asks. “You really are a charmer, aren’t you?”

“Only to the people deserving of it.” Yixing replies. “And you definitely deserve the world.”

~*~

Jaehyun

I’m definitely pissed that Yixing cut into my time with Rose. Not cool, dude~

~*~

“What’s up?” Lisa greets as Jaehyun returns to the living room.

“*bleep* Yixing~” Jaehyun says as he sits down

Lisa looks at him in confusion. “What happened?”

“I was talking to Rose, having a great time, and Yixing came up and interrupted, asking if he could steal her away.”

“Why does he need more time with her?” Lisa asks. “Didn’t he get enough time when he got the first rose?”

Yixing steps into the room, joining Jaehyun on the couch. “You kind of have to keep talking to people to continue a relationship with them.”

Jennie quietly sips at her drink.

~*~

Jennie

I definitely think that what Yixing did was *bleep*, especially because I have been on the receiving end of that before. But I also disagree with Lisa, with that logic, then I shouldn’t get to talk to Rose anymore. Yixing does deserve just as much time as anyone else, but he shouldn’t be stealing it from other people.

~*~

After the night continues a bit, Jaehyun approaches Yixing as he talks to some of the other contestants. “What’s going on there?” Tzuyu asks as she observes the exchange.

“I just wanted to come and talk to you because I believe that people should talk out feelings rather than hold them in.” Jaehyun states. “I really didn’t appreciate what you did earlier. I get that you wanted your time to talk to her, as does everyone here, but in getting your time, you took away from my time. Think a bit more next time.” Jaehyun then walks away, not giving Yixing the chance to respond.

~*~

Outside, Yerim gets to converse with Rose. “I got really worried when you started crying in front of us.” Yerim admits. “I wanted to run up to you and give you a hug right then and there, but I wasn’t sure if you’re the kind of person who prefers to be left untouched when you’re upset or not.”

Rose giggles a bit. “No, I like hugs~”

Yerim smiles at her. “Okay, so the next time you cry, which I hope won’t come at all, I’ll be sure to hug you.”

~*~

Yerim

Every time I see her, I’m amazed at how such an amazing person can exist. Between her personality and her looks, she is basically perfect. And I’m so thankful to even get the chance to be with her and get to know her better.

~*~

“You know how people always tell you that when you like or love someone, you get those butterflies in your stomach?” Yerim asks.

Rose nods, then says, “That’s not how it is for me though. I don’t really know how to describe how I feel, but it doesn’t feel like butterflies in my stomach.”

“I never really thought that’s how it would feel for me either.” Yerim responds. “And then I met you and now any time I see or think of you, I feel butterflies.”

Rose blushes slightly. “I like you too. You know what I like most about you?” Yerim gives a small, ‘what’ in response. “I like how you’re not shy with stating your feelings. You’re very open, and it’s hard to find that in the world. I really like that.” Yerim smiles and thanks her, Rose leaning in and softly pressing her lips to hers for a few seconds afterwards.

~*~

“I really like how genuine she is.” Dua says.

“I like how she doesn’t put up with *bleep* from anyone.” Kyungsoo says. “Joohyun told me what happened on the last group date and how she crashed it, and she said she felt like a toddler being scolded by their mother.”

Dua shrugs her shoulders. “She deserved it~”

Ariana speaks up next, changing the subject slightly. “Rose is definitely a rarity in this world. The screen time she got last season definitely did not do her justice for how she really is.”

“What are you gonna talk about when it’s your turn?” Kyungsoo asks Ariana.

“Just keep getting to know each other on a basic level.” Ariana answers. “Like favorite movies, favorite colors, comfort foods. I think it’s important to know those little details about someone if you’re planning on pursuing a serious relationship with them.”

~*~

Ariana

I think getting to know her and letting her get to know us is more important than coming up with flashy gimmicks to catch her attention. Gimmicks last a moment. Emotional bonds based on knowing each other on a deeper level last a lifetime.

~*~

Outside, Jihyo is getting her time with Rose. Jihyo spends the time sharing funny stories from rehearsals and her trainee days, things that she hasn’t gotten to share on camera before.

~*~

Rose

Jihyo definitely intrigues me quite a bit. As anyone could see from Jimin last season, what we see from idols on camera is not necessarily all that’s there. I’m really looking forward to getting to know her past what has already been shown to the world and see how much she’ll open up to me in front of the cameras or if she’ll let her idol training get in the way.

~*~

Jihyo soon transforms the conversation into a makeout session, pressing her lips to Rose’s and continuing the kiss until Rose chooses to deepen it. “Oh, my bad~” The two pull away to see Ariana standing awkwardly a few feet away. “I was just coming to see if you were free, but you’re busy, so I’ll just go.” Ariana walks away to give to two space and wait until their finished so she can have her turn.

“Oh my god, that was so awkward.” Jihyo says, laughing a bit.

“It really was~” Rose agrees, hiding her face behind her hands for a few seconds. “I’m gonna go talk to her and apologize to her for having to witness that. Jihyo nods in response, waving bye to Rose before heading inside.

Rose reaches Ariana and awkwardly greets her. “I’m so sorry you had to see that.”

“No, it’s fine~” Ariana assures her. “It’s not like you’re only dating me, so you don’t owe me an apology or anything.”

“I know, but I remember what it felt like being where you are, and if I had ever seen Jimin kissing someone else, I definitely would have been upset. Not from being mad at him or anything, but just jealousy and sadness and all that stuff.” Rose explains. “So, I don’t want you or anyone else to have to suffer through that.”

Ariana gives her a small smile. “It’s okay, really~”

Rose returns the smile. “I feel like I should make it up to you in some way.”

Ariana shrugs. “You could always kiss me.” She says in a joking tone, giggling afterwards. Rose giggles, but does as asked, briefly pressing her lips to Ariana’s.

~*~

Ariana

That’s definitely not how I was expecting our conversation to go, but I still enjoyed it. It was fun and I can’t wait to get to talk to her even more.

~*~

After the rest of the contestants get their turn to talk to Rose, the night ends, and she stands in front of them much as she had at the beginning of the night. “Thank you for all of the great conversations tonight. I enjoyed and appreciated every single one of them. I wish I could talk to y’all even more tonight, but it’s time for me to go and make those extremely hard decisions I was telling y’all about earlier. I’ll see you at the ceremony.” Rose gives the group one last smile before being escorted out of the room by Sihyuk.

Chapter Text

The 22 contestants stand along one side of the room across from a table with pictures of Rose sitting on to of it as they wait for Rose to appear and begin the ceremony.

~*~

Kyungsoo

When I look around the room, I can’t see anyone that doesn’t deserve to be here, so I really have no idea who will be going home tonight.

~*~

Sehun

I feel that the roses truly are up in the air. There’s absolutely no one that gives off an aura that they’re here for anything but the right reasons. There’s definitely gonna be a lot of shocked reactions tonight.

~*~

Rose enters the room with a smile. “It’s still weird coming into this room and not standing over there where y’all are.” Rose giggles, a few of the contestants able to laugh with her while others are too nervous. “As I said earlier, this is very difficult for me, and I can already feel tears starting so to prevent me from becoming too emotional, I’m just gonna jump right in.”

Rose picks up the first picture on the table, looking over the group before calling out the first name. “Taehyung~” Taehyung walks over to her with a small smile. “Taehyung, will you accept this rose?”

“Yes, I will~” Taehyung says quietly.

Once Taehyung has returned to his spot, Rose picks up the next picture and calls the next person forward. “Jihyo~” Once Jihyo reaches her, she asks her the same question, and Jihyo accepts the picture with a smile.

~*~

Seungyoon

The only person I can see going home tonight is Joohyun. I’m not saying expect her too, nor will I be upset or surprised if she does get a rose. But I wouldn’t be surprised if she did get sent home tonight because Rose didn’t look too happy about what happened on the last group date.

~*~

“Jennie~” Jennie accepts her picture with a bright smile.

~*~

Seungyoon

Rose believes in second chances, but she also doesn’t stand for *bleep*, so whatever happens regarding Joohyun tonight, I won’t be surprised.

~*~

“Yixing~”

~*~

Seungyoon

I can somewhat understand where Joohyun’s head was at when she made the decision to crash the date, but I also believe that she set herself up to not have the easiest journey with Rose from now on.

~*~

“Seungyoon~” Seungyoon goes up to rose. “Seungyoon, will you accept this rose?”

“Yes, ma’am~” Seungyoon says with a smile.

“Ooh, I like that~” Rose giggles as she hugs Seungyoon.

Rose quickly moves onto the next one once Seungyoon is back in his spot. “Lisa~”

~*~

Jaebum

I am a little nervous. In my conversations with Rose, we didn’t really get to go deeper than small talk, and I’m worried that because of that, she might give the roses away to whoever she had more interesting conversations with and that I won’t get the chance to show her even more of who I am.

~*~

“Dua~”

~*~

Jaebum

I can see myself being sent home tonight, and honestly, it doesn’t feel good.

~*~

“Ariana~” Ariana comes forward with a smile, accepting her picture and quickly returning to her spot.

“Seulgi~”

~*~

Kyungsoo

I definitely wish that I could have gotten a date this week, but I also wish I had been more forward in pulling her aside for conversations. I should have talked to her more.

~*~

“Tzuyu, will you accept this rose?”

“Always~”

Rose picks up the next picture. “Kyungsoo~”

She continues to call out names without much hesitance. “Joohyun~”

~*~

Jongin

It would kind of suck if I got sent home the first week again.

~*~

“Sehun~”

~*~

Jongin

Not just because it would mean that I wouldn’t get the chance to continue getting to know Rose, but also because I would be getting sent home the first week…again. I’d be convinced I was cursed.

~*~

“Jaehyun~”

~*~

Jongin

People might think that I’m only focused on staying and getting roses, but no, I do really like Rose and I do want to continue getting to know her and seeing where we could go, and if it ends up with me being sent home, so be it. I just don’t want it to be the first week again.

~*~

“Yerim~”

Sihyuk enters the room and stands next to Rose. “Rose, ladies, gentlemen, this is the final rose tonight.” He turns to Rose and says, “When you’re ready,” before exiting the room once again.

Rose picks up the final picture and takes a bit longer to call out the final name. “Jongin~” Jongin gives a small cheer as he makes his way to Rose. “Jongin, will you accept this rose?”

“Yes, definitely!”

Once Jongin has returned to his spot, Sihyuk returns. “Ladies, gentleman, if you did not receive a rose, I’m sorry. Take a moment and say your goodbyes.”

~*~

Jaebum

It sucks, but that’s how life is. It doesn’t always go as you want it to, but you gotta keep pushing forward. I’m thankful for the time I got with Rose and that I got to meet such an amazing woman, and I wish her the best of luck in finding the one for her.

~*~

Sooyoung

I had really high hopes for this, but I guess it’s not meant to be. It’ll take a little while to get over, but it’s not like this was absolute only chance at love and happiness. Once I’ve moved on, I can put myself back out there and try again.

~*~

Chaeyoung

I wish that I’d gotten more time with her, but you can’t change the past. I’m very lucky to have even gotten this experience, so I can’t be too upset over the outcome, even if it does hurt a bit.

Chapter Text

Sihyuk greets the remaining 19 contestants at the start of the week. “This past week and last night were a little bit crazy.” The contestants nod in agreement. “And you got to see a different side of Rose, get a little bit of an idea of what you could be in for in the near future.”

~*~

Jongin

Rose struggled a bit last night with deciding who to send home. And those decisions will most likely just continue to get more difficult as time goes on. I’m hoping that it won’t take too much of a toll on her.

~*~

“But it also shows you just how seriously she is taking this, and how she sees that all of you are, hopefully, taking it just as seriously.” Sihyuk continues. “Make the most of your time with her and continue to show her that you are serious about this and her.” Sihyuk pulls an envelope out of his pocket. “You have a fun week ahead, two group dates and a one on one.” He drops the first date card on the coffee table. “Go crazy~”

After Sihyuk leaves, Jaehyun stands up and takes on the responsibility of reading the date card. “Kyungsoo~”

Kyungsoo’s eyes brighten as he realizes he gets a date this week. “Okay~” He says, trying to be calm and casual through his excitement.

The rest of the chosen date participants just nod and smile as their names are called. “Ariana…Dua…Seungyoon…Joohyun…Jihyo…Jungkook…Yerim~” Some of the contestants flash looks at Joohyun, who seemingly doesn’t notice them as she’s too excited over getting the date.

~*~

Jungkook

Joohyun didn’t get a date last week, and then she went and crashed the second group date. I may not have been on that date, but it was still really rude of her to do that. Why couldn’t she just cry it out like I did?

~*~

Part of love is trying new things together, Rose~

~*~

Joohyun

I’m already prepared for not exactly being welcomed by the others on this date because of my actions last week. I did reflect a lot after the fact, and I sincerely regret the decision I made. I didn’t think it through before acting, and I’m going to try harder not to be one of those people. You know, the people from last season that everyone still talks about in a somewhat negative way.

~*~

Rose arrives at the date location, a bright smile on her face.

~*~

Rose

I am very excited for today. I have a great group of guys and girls that I’ll be hanging with today, and I’m finally getting to do something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’m ready to get this date started!

~*~

The eight contestants meet Rose outside the building, running up to greet her. Jungkook gives her a big hug, lifting her off the ground slightly before letting the others have their turn. “So, today we are doing something that I’ve wanted to try ever since I was a little girl back in Australia…” Rose trails off for dramatic effect before announcing the plans for the date. “We are going ice skating!”

~*~

Rose

I really have wanted to try ice skating for years now. But another influence I had was Jimin and Yoongi’s first one on one date was ice skating, and they’re still going strong and are happy together and in love. Maybe ice skating is good luck, maybe someone on this date is the one for me and we’ll end up being together forever in the end.

~*~

The group immediately heads inside and gets their skates before hitting the ice.

~*~

Dua

I love ice skating, so today’s going to be really fun.

~*~

Kyungsoo

Minjoon’s favorite thing is ice skating, we go all the time just the two of us. Maybe if all this works out, it’ll be the three of us.

~*~

Rose flails around as she gets used to the feeling, accepting whenever someone offers to hold her hand and guide her.

~*~

Jihyo

Rose is very cute when she’s concentrating on something.

~*~

After a few hours of skating around the ice, the group finally heads to their dinner location for the rest of their date.

“My legs are actually pretty sore after that.” Ariana comments.

“How do you think mine feel with how much I kept falling?!” Rose laughs out before thanking everyone for the great date.

After a toast, Joohyun asks Rose if they can go talk for a second, some of the others on the date obviously not happy that Joohyun is getting the first conversation of the night.

~*~

Rose

With Joohyun, I do feel like what happened last week has put a wedge in our relationship, and I am a bit more wary of how things will go between us now. But I’m not writing her off completely, because I do sense that she is a good person overall.

~*~

“I just really wanted to apologize again for last week.” Joohyun says as soon as they’re alone. “It was so wrong of me to jump in on a date I wasn’t invited on. I’m also very grateful that you decided to give me another chance despite what happened, and I’m definitely not going to ruin that again.”

“Everyone makes mistakes,” Rose replies. “And the fact that you are owning up to that mistake rather than making excuses says a lot about who you are as a person. And that’s why I did give you another rose, because I can tell that you’re a good person.”

~*~

Joohyun

It feels good knowing that Rose hasn’t given up on the possibility of us because of my idiotic decision last week. I’m very excited to get back on track with her.

~*~

“I’m looking forward to getting to talk to Rose more.” Yerim says to the other contestants waiting their turn to speak with Rose. “Watching last season, I assumed that the editing just made it look like everyone didn’t get much time. But no, we really don’t get a lot of time with her this early on. So, I’m really wanting to talk to her more and make sure there’s a good foundation for a relationship in place.”

“Yeah, that foundation is the most important.” Jihyo says. “When Sihyuk said make the most of your time, he really meant it, because that time will be gone before you know it.”

~*~

Jungkook gives Rose a tight hug as he meets her for their conversation.

~*~

Jungkook

Today was really fun, especially because I got to hold Rose’s hand a lot when she was still getting used to the ice.

~*~

“How’s all the training and debuting going?” Rose asks. “I don’t think I asked you about that on our one on one.”

Jungkook chuckled. “No, you didn’t. It’s going good for the most part.”

“For the most part?” Rose repeats, tilting her head. “What does that mean?”

“Well, it is very stressful at times, because nearly every second of every day is dedicated to dance practice, vocal training, meetings for concepts, stuff like that. But I also love every second of that.” Jungkook explains. “The meetings, not quite as much as the other stuff.”

“Is there any specific reason for that?”

Jungkook takes a moment before responding. “We get a lot of creative freedom at BigHit, I get a lot of say in what I want my debut concept to be, but of course the company also has to approve whatever the concept is. Right now, they’re really pushing for me to debut with a love song, a romantic concept because of me being on The Bachelor and everything. I’m not against love songs or anything like that, but I feel like I can’t give the proper emotions while performing if I’ve never experienced love for myself. And as I said before, what me and Jimin had wasn’t that kind of love.”

Before either of them can speak again, someone appears in front of them. “Hi, guys~” Yerim greets. “Sorry, you’re obviously in the middle of something, so I’m not gonna ask you to stop, I’ll just wait over there for whenever you’re done.”

Rose gives Yerim a small smile in thanks as the younger girl leaves again. “So, yeah~’ Jungkook finishes up. “It’s just kind of frustrating that the only thing really keeping me from debuting at the moment is the concept.”

“You’ll figure it out soon.” Rose assures him. “There’s always gonna be bumps in the road, and this is one of yours. It’ll smooth out after a while and you’ll be cruising along in no time.” Jungkook smiles at her, whispering a thank you before slowly leaning in. Rose meets him halfway, softly pressing her lips to his.

~*~

Jungkook

Every moment I spend with Rose, I’m taken aback by just how great she is. She knows when to take things lightly, she knows when to joke around, she knows when to be serious. I just really like talking to her.

~*~

Yerim’s conversation mainly centers around her experience at college and how that’s going. Kyungsoo speaks to Rose after that, where he tells her about Minjoon. “You have a son?” Rose asks, eyes lighting up. “Aww, how old is he?”

“He’s six~” Kyungsoo answers, earning another ‘aww’ from Rose. “He’s a little tornado right now.”

“I bet.” Rose giggles. “But I’m sure it’s fun. I love kids, especially around that age.”

Kyungsoo smiles at her. “Maybe you’ll get to meet him one day.”

Rose returns the smile. “Maybe I will~”

During Jihyo’s conversation, the singer asks, “Do you know what I like most about you at this point?” Rose smiles and shakes her head. “How you know exactly what you want and how you want to do things. Like, you don’t compromise your own values just to make other people comfortable and you don’t hesitate to tell someone when they’re in the wrong. We don’t have enough people like that in the world.”

“I was raised to be respectful and open minded, but I was also taught how to be assertive.” Rose says. “My parents made sure that I understood that I can be respectful and open to other people’s beliefs without ignoring my own. So, you have my parents to thank for that.”

Jihyo laughs before calling out to nowhere. “Thank you, Rose’s parents!” Rose laughs with her, kissing Jihyo when her giggles come to an end.

After the rest have their conversations, Rose is sitting in the middle of the group with the ‘rose’ in her hand. “I want to thank all of you for today, I had such a great time and I enjoyed every single conversation tonight. You guys are the best…but I want to give tonight’s rose to Jungkook.” The male looks up, eyes widened slightly in surprise. “You spoke to me about something you’ve been struggling with, and I appreciate you trusting me enough to share that with me, so Jungkook, will you accept this rose?”

“Yes~” Jungkook accepts with a smile.

During the group date

The 11 contestants who didn’t get to go on the first group date are sitting in the living room when someone knocks on the door. They all collectively breathe in anticipation as Jongin goes to retrieve the date card.

~*~

Chanyeol

Of course, I want my name to be on the one on one date card. I learned from firsthand experience that not getting that special time just between the two of you can cause a pretty serious rift in a relationship, so I definitely want that time with Rose now so I can have a better chance at forming a deep connection with her.

~*~

Everyone waits with bated breath as Jongin opens the envelope. After glancing at the name, Jongin looks up at the crowd. “Chanyeol~” Jaehyun gives a small sigh of disappointment, but still turns to the male next to him and congratulates him. “Let’s get a fresh start to love~

The others start congratulating him after Jongin finishes reading, and Chanyeol can’t stop saying how excited he is.

~*~

Sehun

It’s frustrating to see these other guys going on one on ones with her before I get to, but I’m not too worried. There’s a lot of good people here, and I like to think of myself as a good person, so that’s what I’m holding on to.

~*~

The day of Chanyeol and Rose’s Date

Rose is laying in bed, a heating pad resting on her lower stomach with her face scrunched up in pain. “I don’t even think I can get out of bed.” She says weakly, a pout present on her face.

~*~

Rose

This is one of the times where I hate being a woman. Usually the cramps are only really bad on the first day, and I lucked out last season where I never had a date coincide with my cramp days, so I was hoping that I would luck out again now where my cramp days would hit on one of the free days between dates or something. But nope, not that lucky.

~*~

Chanyeol goes out to the living room after dressing for his date to wait for Rose to come pick him up, or at least for further instructions. “I’m surprised you’re still here!” Lisa exclaims as he sits next to her. “I thought you’d left already!”

“No, not yet~” Chanyeol chuckles. “But I can’t wait to leave and get this date started.”

~*~

Chanyeol

I am the luckiest guy in the world. I’m kind of glad things didn’t work out with Jimin, because then I wouldn’t have gotten this chance to explore this side of Rose and see where things can go with us. The date card said “Chanyeol, let’s get a fresh start to love”, and I am ready for a fresh start, and I’m ready to have that start with Rose.

~*~

The doorbell rings, and some of the contestants begin whooping as they assume it’s Rose arriving to pick Chanyeol up for their date. Tzuyu answers the door, and immediately calls out for Chanyeol. Tzuyu goes over to him and hands him an envelope. “You’ve got mail~”

Chanyeol opens the letter and reads it out loud. “Chanyeol, I’m so sorry to say there’s been a change of plans. I’m not feeling that well today and regretfully have to cancel our date. However, I would love for you to come over to my apartment so we can still spend some time together. Love, Rose~” He stands up from the couch. “Guess I better go nurse her back to health.”

“Yes, please make her feel better.” Seulgi comments as Chanyeol makes his way out of the house.

~*~

Chanyeol

I’m sure that whatever Rose had originally planned for us to do today was amazing, and it sucks that we don’t get to do that anymore, but I am so honored that Rose feels comfortable enough with me to let me come see her when she’s not feeling well and still wants to spend that time with me.

~*~

On his way to Rose’s apartment, Chanyeol stops at a few stores to purchase some flowers, tea, and a card for the girl. Once there, he sees a note stuck to the door.

The door is unlocked, come on in! :)

Chanyeol still knocks on the door out of politeness before stepping into the apartment. He makes his way through the residence until he finds Rose’s bedroom, seeing her propped up against her pillows writing in her journal, a heating pad still across her stomach. “Special delivery~”

Rose greets him cheerfully, despite obviously not feeling well. “You’re too sweet!” She exclaims as he sets his gifts down on her bedside table. She leans up to hug him.

“I’m sorry you’re not feeling well.” He says sincerely as she gets comfortable again.

“Yeah, sadly some things aren’t unavoidable.” Rose says, patting the bed. “Come join me.”

Chanyeol hands her the card after getting settled on the bed next to her, earning a thank you kiss. “I hope you’re not contagious.” He jokes, and Rose assures him that she’s not. “So, what is wrong, like did you have to go to the doctor or something?”

Rose shakes her head. “Nope, just Mother Nature, being a woman, all that stuff. It just really hit me hard today.”

“It’s amazing the stuff y’all go through, and there are still people in the world who write y’all off as weak and not good for anything.” Chanyeol comments. “I hope it starts to get a bit easier soon.”

Rose nods. “It should, it’s usually only the first day that’s really bad. I’m sorry this isn’t the date that was promised.”

Chanyeol shrugs. “I’m getting to hang out with you and see you and talk to you, so I don’t really have any reason to complain.”

Rose giggles, her cheeks turning pink as she leans in to press her lips to Chanyeol’s again.

~*~

At the house, some of the contestants are cooking up a lunch in the kitchen while others converse. “Chanyeol is actually pretty lucky to get this time with Rose while she’s sick.” Kyungsoo says to Ariana. “It shows that she trusts him to see her in a more vulnerable state, and in turn he can show her that he’s with her even when she’s not at her best.”

“I would love to be in his position right now.” Ariana agrees.

“And you just know they’re cuddling up a storm right now.” Jennie says as she works on lunch. “Cuddling is the best medicine.”

Dua pops some food into her mouth before responding. “I’m just wondering how much time they’re going to spend together. Like, is she going to give him a full date time, or is he only going to stay an hour then come back?”

~*~

Dua

I’m worried about just how sick Rose is, and depending on what type of sickness she has, would Chanyeol be qualified to help take care of her, or could he accidentally make it worse? And not just because its Chanyeol, I mean anyone could mess up and do something to make her even sicker.

~*~

“I don’t think you’ve ever told me what made you want to be a special education teacher.” Rose says, interlacing her fingers with Chanyeol’s as he lays against his chest.

“My grandmother was a special education teacher, she and my grandfather were my role models growing up, I wanted to be just like them. And I still do, especially my grandfather.” Chanyeol explains and Rose asks what he means by that. “My grandmother passed away a few years ago from cancer, and I watched her deteriorate as the months went on during her battle. My grandfather was there for her every step of the way, taking her to all of her appointments, making sure she took all of her medicine at the proper times, even feeding her when it got to the point that she couldn’t feed herself. There wasn’t a single moment that he stopped caring for her or said, ‘well she’s gonna die anyway, no point in doing this anymore’. Until the moment she stopped breathing, he was by her side. And that’s the kind of man I want to be for my future partner, the person who will truly stick with them through sickness and through health and take care of them for the rest of my life.”

Rose smiles up at him, bringing her hand up to lightly caress his cheek. “I think you’re already that kind of person, so no worries.” Chanyeol smiles back at her, leaning down to press their lips together.

~*~

Chanyeol

I am so thankful that Rose let me have this time with her today, and I hope I succeeded in making her day a little brighter despite her not feeling well.

~*~

“Well, I’m sorry, but I’m gonna have to kick you out now.” Rose says with a giggle. “I’m getting tired, so I want to rest a little bit.”

“Of course, I want you to get your energy back.” Chanyeol climbs out of her bed, leaning over to give her one last goodbye kiss before leaving the room. Before leaving the apartment for good, he finds a stack of post it notes and writes little messages for her, leaving them around her apartment for her to find once she’s woken up.

~*~

When Chanyeol returns to the mansion, he shares his experience with the other contestants. “So, you got the rose, right?” Yixing asks him.

Chanyeol shakes his head. “No, there wasn’t any talk of roses or anything of the sort. But she didn’t tell me to go home.”

~*~

Seungyoon

Chanyeol’s an amazing guy and I would hate to see him be sent home, but I’m also curious as to why Rose didn’t give him a Rose after their date. What does that mean?

~*~

After Rose wakes up from her nap, she trudges out of her bedroom, stopping when she sees a note sticking to the wall.

The things I love about you -Chanyeol

Her eyes widen a bit, a hint of a smile on her face as she goes through her apartment, finding more post it notes that say things like, “the sparkle in your eyes when you talk about something you love”, “the way you play with your hair when you’re nervous”, and “the way you can make even the simplest of days be the most fun”.

~*~

Rose

*blushing cheeks* I definitely wasn’t expecting to see all these little notes from Chanyeol when I woke up from my nap. The fact that he took the time to do that for me means so much, and now I’m wondering why I never saw this potential in Chanyeol before now.

~*~

The contestants all enjoy pizza for dinner, conversing with one another so deeply that they don’t notice the door to the house opening. A man in a suit enters the living room, surprising everyone. “I’m looking for Chanyeol.” He announces, and Chanyeol raises his hand. “I’m here to pick you up by order of one Ms. Rose. She wants you ready in 15 minutes.”

“Oh *bleep*” Chanyeol says, jumping up from the couch.

~*~

Chanyeol

I definitely wasn’t expecting a second part to our date. It was a pleasant surprise.

~*~

Once Chanyeol is dressed, he makes his way out to the limo waiting outside to take him to Rose. He meets her outside of a restaurant, a bright smile on her face when she sees him approaching. “You look like you’re feeling better!” He comments, pulling her into a hug.

“I am!” She responds.

“I wasn’t expecting to see you again today.” Chanyeol confesses as he pulls away from the hug.

“Nothing today is going as expected.” Rose says, pulling a picture of herself out of her pocket. “I know this is a bit early for today, but I already know what I want, so I’m doing it now. You made me feel so special today, and you weren’t grossed out by me, you just stayed by my side and did what you could to make me feel better, and I appreciate that so much, so Chanyeol, will you accept this rose?”

“I will~” Chanyeol says with a smile, accepting the picture with a kiss.

The finish out their night with a brief dinner, nothing too since Chanyeol had just eaten pizza and Rose was feeling bloated, but they enjoy the time together before their night has to end.

Chapter Text

Rose

I’m having kind of a rough day. I just found out that the producers had to disqualify Jongin because he apparently bribed a producer in order to get on this season of the show so he could get another five minutes of fame, which makes me really sad because I did like him and I was looking forward to getting to know him further. Thankfully that producer was also fired so we don’t have to worry about that happening again to any other bachelors or bachelorettes that get their chance in the future. My goal with today’s date is to have fun and remind myself that while there may be the occasional bad seed, I have a handful of good people out there with good intentions and great potential.

~*~

The eight contestants lucky enough to go on the next group date run out of the house in excitement.

~*~

Yixing
I am so ready for this. I have been blessed with another date this week, and I can’t wait to see Rose again and spend the day with her.

~*~

Lisa
I am going on the group date today with seven other people. The date card we received said ‘a picture is worth a thousand words, but the memories are priceless’. I’m excited to see what kind of memories will be made today.

~*~

Rose is waiting outside of a building for them, waving excitedly when they arrive.

~*~

Jaehyun
If today’s anything like the other dates have been, then I know we’re going to have a lot of fun. I’m ready to enjoy every second with Rose.

~*~

“I am so excited for today.” Rose says after she’s greeted all of them with a hug. “I have something really fun planned for today. You ready to go see what it is?” The eight contestants all agree, so she leads them inside.

~*~

Rose

I have five women and three men on a date with me today. I’m really excited to get to spend time with them, and I also have a few tricks up my sleeve, so we’ll see what the outcome is. *winks*

~*~

Rose leads the eight contestants into a room set up for a photoshoot, a photographer already taking photos. The contestants all politely greet him and introduce themselves, the photographer returning the gesture.

“This is Jo Sunhee, and she’s going to be helping us out today with our very own photoshoot!” The contestants all give pleased reactions to this announcement. “You can tell a lot about someone by how they work a camera, wouldn’t you agree Sunhee?”

The photographer nods. “Of course, especially because there will be couple shoots involved. We will be doing some promotional photos to be released just before the season is aired.”

~*~

Lisa

I wasn’t expecting to have my photo taken today. *giggles shyly* But I’m totally up for it. Let’s do this!

~*~

Yixing

I’ve never really been one to enjoy being in front of a camera, but I’m willing to give it a try for Rose.

~*~

Seulgi

I think today is going to be really fun, I can’t wait!

~*~

“So, first y’all are going to take a bunch of solo shots to show off your personality.” Rose explains to the guys. “Then later, we’ll do couple shots, followed by a big group shot.”

“You’ll be staying in your own clothes so that we can get as close to a true representation of you as possible.” Sunhee adds on. “So just have fun with this and be yourself.”

~*~

Rose

I’m looking forward to seeing what poses and facial expressions everyone brings out. But I’m most looking forward to seeing how they behave when I’m not around.

~*~

Sana sits in a backroom, observing multiple TV screens that display the date currently taking place.

~*~

Sana

We don’t want Rose to be hurt in the end of this, especially since there have already been two people revealed to not have had the best intentions during this journey. So, I’m here just to observe these eight men and women and see if any red flags come up to make sure Rose only has the best people here for her.

~*~

“Taehyung definitely looks like he was made for the camera.” Sana comments as she watches Taehyung posing confidently for his photos.

~*~

Sana

Actors have been hired as assistants, and their job is to flirt with them so we can see what they’ll do in that situation.

~*~

Rose enters the room to join Sana, who greets her happily. “This is way more than what I was expecting.” Rose admits, looking at the screens in shock.

On one screen, Jennie is talking to someone who is touching up her makeup for her photos. “Bet we’re an interesting group to work with.”

“Well it’s not every day that I get to work so closely with such an attractive person.” The fake makeup artist responds, flirtatiously touching Jennie’s arm before resuming her task.

“Oh, that’s a bit much~” Jennie says, laughing nervously.

~*~

Rose

Sana and Jeongyeon both did such a great job finding the jerk who shall not be named. Jeongyeon was busy, but Sana came back for one last stakeout before she flies back to Japan to help weed out any other possible jerks.

~*~

“One day when I’m a famous photographer, maybe we’ll work together again.” Taehyung jokes with one of the ‘assistants’.

Rose points to the screen with Taehyung. “Let’s see what’s gonna happen there.”

“We can work together in multiple ways.” The smile falls from Taehyung’s face at that comment. “Even now if you want.”

Taehyung clears his throat. “Yeah, um, that’s not…” Taehyung walks away, looking around as if searching for someone. “Where’s Sunhee or Rose? I’m not comfortable with this.”

“So, we know Taehyung’s good, not that I ever doubted him.” Sana comments. “He was quick to shut her down.” She looks over the other screens to find a new target. “Let’s check out Jisoo now.”

“I’ve never done anything like this.” Jisoo says to a different assistant. “Like the whole dating someone so sought-after thing, and definitely not dating someone who was dating other people too.”

“Does that bother you?” The assistant asks. “The whole open relationship thing?”

Jisoo shrugs. “I mean, I don’t particularly enjoy seeing her with other people, but it’s not going to be like this forever, and if I even have the smallest chance of being the one in the end, then it’s worth it. She’s worth it.”

Rose blushes slightly at Jisoo’s words. “Awww, she’s so sweet!”

They then decide to check out Yixing, who is now getting his makeup touched up. “So, are you enjoying this experience?”

“I mean, it can get kind of boring at the mansion, being cut off from society and all that. But I am enjoying getting to know Rose and developing this relationship with her.”

“So, can you, like, actually see yourself with her at the end of this?”

“Oh definitely. I could see myself marrying her one day.”

Sana awws at his words while Rose smiles. “Okay, he may be getting a bit ahead of himself there, but it is sweet, and I can appreciate that he knows what he wants.”

After checking out the others Sana turns to Rose. “So, I don’t see any issues with this group here, so I can confidently say that you are dating a great group of people and that you will definitely be happy in the end.”

~*~

Rose

I am definitely comforted by the fact that there are no red flags with these people, and now I’m ready to get out there and spend some time with my men and women.

~*~

They spend the rest of the day having fun taking pictures and laughing together until time for dinner.

Rose starts the night off by thanking the contestants for a fun day. “I know today was a bit quirky but thank you for rolling with it and having fun with it. I enjoyed myself and I hope you enjoyed yourselves too, and I look forward to enjoying the rest of tonight with you.” After murmurs of agreement from the rest, Rose asks Yixing to come with her.

The first part of their conversation is Yixing describing how much he’s enjoying getting to know her and talking about in the future, the things they would do if they do end up being together. “It’s great that you’re already imagining us in the future, and that’s okay, I do it sometimes to with everyone here. But don’t live too much in the future.” Rose tells him. “Like, it’s important that we can picture a future with each other, but we’re only on the second week of knowing each other. It’s a bit too early to start talking about specific or making definitive plans, because at this point, we really don’t know what could happen. Does that make sense?”

“Yeah, definitely~”

~*~

“So, Rose didn’t mention anything that she was looking for specifically in today’s date.” Jaehyun comments to the others. “What do you think is the criteria for tonight’s rose?”

Jennie’s the one who responds as Yixing returns from his conversation with Rose. “I think just whoever she’s most comfortable with and that she feels is really being their true selves. I mean, the point of the photoshoot was for us to express our true personalities, so I think that’s still what she’s looking for at this point.”

~*~

Tzuyu spends her time with Rose sharing stories from each other’s childhood.

~*~

Yixing leaves the couch area to walk around a bit. “Is it just me or did Yixing seem a bit upset after his conversation with Rose?” The others agree with him. “I feel like he came into this super confident, especially because he got that first rose, and now that other people are having connecting with her really well, and since he hasn’t received a date rose, it might be shaking him up a bit.”

~*~

After Tzuyu’s conversation ends, Lisa comes in for her conversation with Rose.

~*~

“I hope that it doesn’t make him change the way he’s doing things.” Jennie says. “Because right now, he’s good. But if he starts to get desperate, then it could mess things up for him, and he could drag others down with him.”

~*~

Yixing stands in the hallway outside of the room Rose is having her conversations in, listening in to everyone.

“I met one of my absolute best friends in the entire world through dance.” Lisa is telling Rose. “So, yeah, it’s definitely a huge part of my life.”

~*~

“I feel like it’s not a good thing to talk about him and his possible future actions, even if it’s not necessarily negative at this point.” Taehyung speaks up. “Because talking about what someone could end up doing can still give you a skewed perception of that person and make you think they’re like that even if they’re not at all.”

~*~

“I’ve had so much fun today.” Jaehyun says. “But I always have fun with you, because you’re a fun person to be around.”

Rose smiles at him. “Well thank you, I try really hard to be a fun person.” She giggles, but her laughter quickly gets cut off by Jaehyun pressing his lips to hers.

~*~

“You definitely have some photoshoot skills, if I do say so myself.” Jisoo tells Rose. “Those will come in handy when you’re a famous singer.” Rose laughs and thanks her. “I actually wanted to be a model when I was little.”

“Really?” Rose asks, wanting to know more about Jisoo.

Jisoo nods. “Yeah, when I was in elementary school, I was convinced that modeling was my passion. I would force my friends and family to set up photoshoots on a regular basis, and I would come up with the most ridiculous poses.”

“And what changed that?” Rose asks.

“I started playing video games and realized I was more of a computer programming and screens girl than a fashion and bright lights girl.” Jisoo answers honestly.

Rose smiles at her. “Well I like both girls.” Jisoo smiles back, leaning forward to capture Rose’s lips in a kiss.

~*~

Jisoo

I am definitely falling hard for Rose. I’m not saying I’m head over heels in love with her at this point, but I can definitely see myself getting there in the near future. She’s just someone I want to be around all the time. She’s so supportive, never judges quirks or eccentricities. She makes you feel loved and accepted, and that’s something everyone needs.

~*~

After speaking to the rest of the contestants, Rose rejoins them for the handing out of the rose. She picks up the picture from its place on the table. “I’ve enjoyed spending time with and talking to all of you, but…Jisoo~” Jisoo’s eyes light up. “I feel like every conversation with you, we progress a bit further in our relationship, and our connection strengthens, so will you accept this rose?”

“I would love to~”
